Visited this place while waiting for our flight to Nashville. The service was good and drinks were prepped quick which gave us a lot of time to sit and enjoy. The bartender was also very friendly and gave good recommendations for drinks. It is a typical bar/pub setting but well kept and clean. Food is as unremarkable as the rating suggests. Got a 3-meat plate of brisket, brisket burnt ends, and ribs. The ribs were tender but under-seasoned so the BBQ sauce was required. Unfortunately, all three BBQ sauces were super sweet to me. Just from looking at the sauce, I thought hmm that's a sugary looking consistency. I wonder if that's the local style BBQ sauce. Added cholula to it helped to cut the sweetness. Save for one piece of burnt end, all other pieces of the brisket (burnt end or not) were dry and tough. The Mac and cheese was not bad and the beans tasted average. The corn biscuit was dry and crumbly. If I were to order again, the ribs and Mac and cheese would be safe choices. Service was friendly. The reason for the 3 stars has nothing to do with much more than it being an airport location. The prices were a bit up there but the staff kindness and service made up for it. I sat at a table just outside of the bar and was greeted at first pretty quickly. However, that tapered off a bit the longer I sat there but it was easy enough to just drop my table at the bar/ask for a tab at the bar. There was plenty of seating and the place was actually pretty large, I was concerned with service sitting too far in the restaurant part because I knew the person I was with only had about 20 mins before boarding (my flight was a bit later). The Stockyards cervesa(sp?) I believe it was one of their 4 options was delicious and recommended once they ran out of the Stella I had been drinking. I ordered a brisket sandwich with cheesy corn whatever it was and when she asked me how I would like the brisket (shredded/sliced) I told her "however it is supposed to be" and she responded with "I gotchu" which I presume is how I ended up with the mac&cheese. Now look, I won't send food back. I also never would have ever ordered the mac & cheese, I am so glad it cake on my tray. Hands down the best mac & cheese I have ever had. Granted, I did mention I would have never ordered it and therefore that should speak on my professional mac & cheese scale but it was absolutely delicious. I know its airport food but have some pride in your product. I have had better brisket in Jersey. And i make better ribs then these guys. Pretty disappointed with both the ribs and the brisket. I had mac and cheese for the side dish. Good thing they didn't mess that up. It was a creamy cheddar sauce simple but compared to the meats. This was probably the best thing there. 4 stars. Because, come on, this is an airport BBQ place. This is not fine dining. You don't have a lot of options and it is decent BBQ for a non-native. This is not a quick grab-n-go. Come here if you have time. Don't come if you're in a hurry. I got the Burnt Tips, which is what they're known for. They were juicy and moist and tasty, served on a piece of toast, with a side of potato salad. Sauces are on the table if you need to doctor it up (I didn't.) What a great addition to the airport dining options. The pick your own table option is messy, lots of individual people taking up large tables, forcing groups to smash around small tables. The server team was obvious stretched thin, they were doing their best, but they had a lot of tables per person to try and cover. I got the burnt ends and some cheesey corn. The burnt ends were good, I'm glad someone realized we didn't have any sauce on our table, that addition helped make them a lot more flavorful. Not good. Not good...anything, really. I, like many others, was happy that the new airport came with some new dining options. Unfortunately, I chose poorly this go round. While waiting for my flight, I opted to stop in here for a beer and some BBQ before heading out. It took the wait staff probably 10 minutes or so to get to me, even though they weren't super busy (it was between lunch and dinner time). Sadly, my first 2 beer choices were out, so I settled for Sam Adams. Ordered the brisket sandwich and the brisket was sadly overcooked and bland. Also got the cheesy corn, but the "spice" that they put in it wasn't good. The BBQ sauces were the only saving grace and even they weren't great. And about $35 later, I was full and sad. Moral of the story? There's better BBQ elsewhere in the airport, so do yourself a favor and choose accordingly. read more

Flight delays prompted a stop in at Stockyards in the KC airport. I was really looking foreword to trying some bbq, but the ribs fell flat. Only two were fall off the bone... nevertheless, you get a good amount for what you pay. Lots of seating, tvs to watch sports games, and an overall laidback spot if you're between flights. read more

Our food was cold (we both got the pulled pork, which came with one side) and it took a while to get to us, which makes me think it had been sitting in the kitchen a while. We had breakfast here. They basically have 2 items on the menu. I had the bowl, and it was very tasty. The coffee was excellent as well. The server was friendly and helpful. They did provide my wife a few items that met her dietary requirements, so that was good. Me and my husband came to the stockyards this morning before our flight, food was fantastic! I had a lovely experience with the bbq I like the aesthetic of the restaurant too! I'm giving it three stars thought because of some staff issues I witnessed which made the experience a little unsettling and uncomfortable. A couple of the staff were rolling silverware when a young girl started screaming and cussing out her coworkers. I didn't hear everything she said but it was enough to make the experience hostile. I felt terrible for the staff who endured this. This server who was frantically cussing out her coworkers then threw a box of plastic silverware at them. Hopefully it gets handled in a professional manner. And hopefully that young girl either gets fired or written up. The table was filthy so I asked if I could borrow a wet towel to clean since they looked busy. The waitress took a paper towel from my table, cleared it, and said, "there you go." I finally had to ask the hostess if she could check on it because I hadn't seen mine in that time The food was decent (not worth the price) and while I get that it can get busy especially during the KC snowstorm that undoubtedly left the crew short staffed, several were getting their food and checked on. And as a kicker, I just got my credit card statement and although I was a solo patron and left $0 tip for that experience, found that even though I didn't sign for it, they charged a 20% tip. Had a layover at the airport on our way to D.C. and ate lunch at Stockyards. It was clean and you can sit where you want. We got the Burnt ends plate that came with a side (we chose the corn with a kick). It was $22, a little pricy but you are at the mercy of the airport. The other item we got was called The Beckett and it was $18. We both preferred the Beckett over the burnt ends. We would get it again. I liked the corn better than my husband did and I don't like spicy so the "kick" was pieces of jalapeño but it barely had a "kick". I really liked the BBQ sauce. If you like sweet BBQ sauce you will like it. They also have a spicy sauce by it also had just a "kick" of spice. I could taste it but he could not. The service was really good and quick. This restaurant is located inside the Kansas City international airport so it's only customers are going to be employees of the airport or travelers. It will have high traffic volume at times when planes are departing. When I walked in there were only a few tables available and I was by myself, so I asked the lady sitting at the four top if she would mind if I shared her table. It was actually two separate two-top tables pushed together to form the one table. She agreed, and I sat down. The tables already have menus on them so you can immediately start to review options. Shortly after I was seated, a family of three came and sat at the table next to me. When the waiter came around, he took my drink order and then greeted the table next to me. When he came back, I told him that I wanted the brisket sandwich with a side of coleslaw. After taking my order, he immediately took the order for the table of three. 45 minutes later the table of three received their food and he looked at me and said he would check on my food. It was an hour and five minutes later before I received my items. Knowing that this is brisket and coleslaw I am certain those items are already prepared in the back and just needed to be assembled on a tray. Waiting that long for these food items seems unacceptable. The coleslaw had zero flavor. It looked like it was supposed to just be an oil and vinegar dressing as there was no evidence of mayo-based dressing. It literally tasted like they forgot to put the dressing on it. Each bite had so much onion in it that the balance between onion and cabbage was incorrect. I could not eat it. The bbq sauce was good. It had a nice smokey sweet and spicey flavor. As I gathered my things to leave, I could hear the waiter telling another table that he apologized for the wait for their food and that he was going to check on it. Our food arrived very quickly after ordering. The macaroni and cheese was very cold and I asked the waitress to please nuke it in microwave before we tasted the meat platter. Everything else's was very cold and when I told her that after coming back with new (cold) macaroni and cheese, she insisted macaroni felt hot to her and meat could not be warmed up. She eventually agreed to ask kitchen to reheat and brought food back accompanied by an incredible rude attitude warning me if still cold, she has to void order. She then proceeded to complain to her co-workers at the bar acting extremely annoyed. The food was very tasty but it was cold and it came back cold. Terrible service today. I understand this is a new restaurant in a new airport and there will be growing pains, but this was really unacceptable: I sat at the bar next to another woman, traveling alone, and another man, also traveling alone. They had just ordered drinks and were waiting to place their food order. I too ordered food and a $27 shot of whiskey (beware the Angel's Envy haha), but before them because she never asked if they wanted any. When I was done ordering, they both spoke up and she took their food orders. The woman and I actually ordered the exact same entree. 20 minutes later, the first of our three orders came out, the item she and I had both ordered. The server then asked which one of us should get the food first, which really took me back as unprofessional. I spoke up and said I ordered first so it was mine. About a minute later, her order came out which (for some reason) was twice as much food as mine, indicating there were problems in the kitchen with both timing (20 minutes for what were effectively nachos) and value. At the same time I already had my credit card out and told the server I needed a to-go box for mine because it took so long and I would also need to pay because I needed to get to my gate. 10 minutes later, no to-go box and no credit card receipt as she hadn't ran my card yet. I left cash and the food on the counter and grumpily walked off. The man still had not received his dinner by the time I left. I should share that at no point in this entire experience did my server appear to be very busy. There were four people working in the bar and one server working the tables around us. Between the four working the bar there was quite a bit of standing around and talking, which really incensed me when it came time to get the to-go box. I boarded my plane next to another person who had virtually the same experience as me. I'll be back in October to try this restaurant again since I think most of these problems come from the fact that the staff is all new. read more
