Small arugula salad with chicken and small tomato beet soup. About $32

If you want a sit down place - this is it. Good food a little on the pricey airport side but good. I got the arugula salad with chicken. The chicken was a bit dry but overall salad was still good. I also got the tomato beet soup. It was very acidic and more tomatoes than beet taste.

This restaurant is in the B concourse at the MCI airport and I was attracted to the bright, clean look as it seemed to provide a nice place to work while waiting for my connecting flight. It is seat yourself and I was a little worried that I would have to wait given the servers would not notice me. Well, I was wrong as Michelle promptly came to my service, bringing me ice cold water and a smile. I chose to try the Loco moco $16 and sparking rose $16. The wine was served within minutes and my lunch soon followed making this a great experience. Thanks Michelle for brightening up my day! Only thing to note is that for a more upscale restaurant, being given plastic cutlery was not great. It's like drinking nice wine out of a plastic Dixie cup, not the best! Other than that, great experience!

Great ambiance, service and food for an airport restaurant. The music and aesthetic makes it feel like you're not in an airport at all. I appreciated the variety of their food and drink menus. I got the "Turkey Tea" sandwich and it was very good! I recommend asking for light lettuce, getting a side of the French onion mayo to add to the sandwich, and getting for the fennel aioli for the fries. Next time I will try this in sourdough. Overall, a great airport restaurant experience.

We ran into brown & loe on a layover at Kansas City airport. It was just a pit stop on our way to Chicago. So clearly we didn't try everything on the menu, but what we did try wasn't super impressive. I'll start off with the best thing we had here and work my way down the list to our least favorites. 1: grilled salmon. By far was the best thing we had. The red chili aoli was light but it added a mildly creamy compliment to the stronger flavors like the ponzu sauce, coconut rice, and garlic that the menu didn't say it had but it definitely had. I will say this, the first time we ordered it the salmon was undercooked but they were happy to remake it and the second time the texture was amazing and it was perfectly cooked. The roasted broccoli had a crunch but not too much, it was outstanding, and the floretes soaked in all the juices of the flavors around it. I would actually order this dish again. I give this dish a 4 star. 2: the cesar salad was great, the chicken was on the boarder of being too salty but it wasn't bad, it was juicy and peppery, and I ate it. The salad itself was what I would expect in a cedar salad, not too much to say about it. I would give this Cesar a 3.5 star 3: the calamari is tied for worst items we had here with the smoked Gouda Mac. So the calamari had entirely too much breading on it, and the meat was chewy, I suspect it was a frozen item that also wasn't cooked well. It came with a spicy tomato oil that wasn't spicy at all and had no flavor whatsoever, we had to ask for hot sauce and lemon and pepper and we tweaked it so it was something worthy of dipping in the spirit of what the sauce was supposed to be. The horseradish honey sauce was fantastic but then again I'm a sucker for horseradish, this was above average not the best I've had but better than your average horseradish. It was relatively mild too so if you're not a horseradish snob like me you will probably still enjoy it. I give it a 2.5 star 4: the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese. This dish had all the makings of a good dish, the cheese textures were phenomenal, the bacon was a cool touch, but the bread crumbs were nonexistent; usually when mac and cheese has bread crumbs it's supposed to be coated on the top layer. The thing that sucked about this was, it was the saltiest Mac and cheese I've ever had, no matter where I've gone, it was hard to eat and if you have high blood pressure get ready to head to the ER on this one. 5: the wanderlust cocktail sounded good on the menu and tasted quite alright. It was good ish but not great, and if I were them I would put it in a bowl with a sugar rim and throw a decorative piece in there to really make the name come true. The ambiance felt like it was going to be fancy but then we got these plastic utensils too that made the experience feel cheap. The service is another reason we didn't give this place 2 stars, they were friendly and accommodating and they tried to fix problems as best they could.

Tasted great. Felt like eating weeds.

An modern upscale airport experience with great service, a full bar, and an interesting menu. I really like Brown and Loe so seeing it's arrival in our new Kansas City airport was awesome. The menu is definitely scaled down for this location, which is understandable. The staff seems well trained, and the restaurant itself is clean and inviting. Because of the limited menu at the airport location, as a vegetarian, I had limited options. I opted for the Vegan Beat and Tomato soup, and a salad. The soup is pretty tart, and came with no bread, which it needed. I was able to pay for a side of toasted bread thankfully, which helped to break up the overwhelming flavor. The salad tasted great but with the spring mix, I felt like I was munching on weeds. A good experience overall but I probably would not order either of those items again.

Friendly service. Nice refreshing lunch at the airport. We had two large bowls of the tomato beet soup and shared a large arugula salad. Large salad was a little small but the soup was excellent and just tight for a cool windy day at the KC airport.

The new and improved MCI, Kansas City International Airport opened 3 days ago. So exciting! With it comes a lot more food options! Even more exciting!! There are lots of great options now. All price points. This gem is in the B terminal near B 51 and directly across from the City Market. Elegantly done. Cozy, quaint seating options. Or, you can sit at the bar. Lots of window views of the gates. You can watch the daily operations of pushing and pulling away and up to the gate. The real heroes are on the ground. (BTW. They can endure anything. Weather, poor staffing (at times), long hours). Anyway. Got here at 1300. It was open seating. The staff is friendly and attentive. The business has one other facility. Family owned and operated! Score for the airport. I get tired of seeing chains. Be patient with the staff. This is new to everyone here. It takes a while to build consistency. I'm hoping they do really well. It is so nice to have options other than fried and battered. The low key relaxful ambiance is nice too. We had the Mac and cheese add chicken. Husband always does a complicated order. He changed from the regular grilled chicken offered and went with the National chicken. Very good option. Well done. Moist on the inside. Crispy on the outside. Had the Nashville hot sauce on the side. Very good. I had the salmon and coconut rice and broccoli. Broccoli was seared perfectly. Big problem for me. I hate boiled broccoli and I hate prior frozen broccoli. It's of course more expensive to do it this way, but thank you. Really enjoyed the coconut rice. More than I should. The salmon was good. We are in the center of the country. Cooked completely on point and I loved the lightly drizzled sauce that carried a little heat. These are really large portions. You can share. I had an old fashion and hubs had the close your eyes and Cabo. Both very good. His was a good bit sweeter than mine. Which is how it suits us. Small cubes. But they really didn't melt very fast. Not sure how that was. Great experience. We hope they do well! Oh, and they offer an airline discount and military discount. Support those that support the troops.

The service was good. It's the location at the airport so their menu may be limited from the actual brick and mortar location. I wanted a good onion soup but, since they did have a tomato beet soup. It was really good and I would definitely get it again. The bartender made me a custom Bloody Mary and it was fantastic! Very nice look and location.

The menu looked decent with all of their options. The service started out great as the drink came out right away. But went downhill from there. I had to wait 30+minutes for a simple order of a hummus plate and side of fries. I don't know if they were short staffed this day but I watched the waitress for 15 minutes run around grabbing drinks and clearing tables, barely any food. The fries were like warm as I could see they were grabbed from a big basket warmer sitting on the top of the counter. Overall the food was decent but the wait was terrible. If you don't have a lot of time, I would bypass this restaurant.

Nashville hot chicken doesn't have any heat. But it's still good.

Food is good. It's a quiet place in the airport. The biggest issue I have is lack of real silverware. If I'm spending money on a nice lunch, for $40, I don't want plastic silverware.

They have added Messenger Coffee drinks and expanded their pastry and small bite savory items with a seperate menu. It was a bit confusing for my first time visit, which door do I enter? Do I order at the kiosk? Do I wait to be seated? Some signs would surely help. After wandering around in both dining rooms and looking at a menu at the kiosk, I was finally approached and was seated in the cafe. The room has a relaxed feel with cozy chairs and tables, a few plants and books and some comforting classical music playing. I was immediately brought a water glass by my stylishly dressed waiter. I started asking a few questions about the menu, when he asked me to follow him to the other room where I could see the variety of baked goods in the glass warming case. I made my selection and was soon brought my ham and cheese Medialuna (small croissant), a Fat Biscuit (baked rolled dough) and my cappuccino. Pricing is a bit high but the service and atmosphere was above average and the vibe was relaxing after I understood the ordering system, and the menu was unique. A great little coffee / brunch option for the Tiffany Springs / Zona Rosa / MCI area.

(Especially in this economy) While ordering online, be aware that the time it says on the ordering portal/site is not generally accurate. I, on multiple occasions, have ordered something with a specific pick up time selected (I left plenty of time, thirty minutes from when I ordered to when I wanted to pick it up) and the food still was not ready. Ex: ordered at 11:30 am, pick up time of 11:55-12:00, food was ready closer to 12:10 and I received the 'your food is ready text' at 12:45 pm. While this isn't a bad thing if you have time, if you're on a tight lunch schedule I'd look otherwise. This location is also a bit smaller than their Parkville location, so if it's crowded it's very noticeable and can get a little overwhelming. I do prefer the Platte City location to Parkville though, as their Parkville location doesn't do that good of a job when I order online (this may just be me but I have to take it into consideration). Overall, I do recommend it, just be aware that it is pricey, when packed it can get a little overwhelming, and be aware of how long you have to eat.

The restaurant has been open about four years, but the recipes go back much further. The family's original sister restaurant in Argentina dates back to 1987, and the food absolutely feels rooted in tradition and authenticity. This was actually my first experience trying Argentinian food. From the Milanesas section of the menu, I ordered the Napolitana, topped with tomato sauce, ham, and cheese. I later learned it's supposedly soccer legend Lionel Messi's favorite dish. To me, it reminded me a bit of a deep-fried German schnitzel, in the best possible way. It came with delicious fries that disappeared quickly. My wife absolutely loved the freshly made empanadas. One detail we thought was clever: each empanada is stamped with a number identifying the filling, which makes ordering and sharing much easier. The surprise star of the meal was the Rogel cake for dessert. Thin, flaky layers packed with dulce de leche and topped with toasted meringue/ rich, crunchy, sweet and absolutely unforgettable Another fun surprise was the robot that delivers the food from the kitchen before the server brings it to your table. A small touch, but memorable. The pricing is incredibly reasonable, especially considering how authentic and satisfying the food is. Definitely a hidden gem in Kansas City if you're looking to try something different.
