I actually gave the Stone Tavern two chances. I went there in late June with my daughter and I had a cheeseburger which I actually enjoyed, but we also shared a beef nacho platter and it was very bland. We had to put an exorbitant amount of salt and pepper on it to give us some flavor. Nachos are usually exploding with flavor for many different sources, whether it's the cheese, the meat, the peppers, the seasonings. These nachos had no flavor. In July, I went back, this time with my son. We were drawn in by the sign on the side of the road that says happy hour from 3 PM to 6 PM. We stopped in, and immediately inquired about the happy hour, and we were told that, that only applies to the bar area. That has to go down as one of the most absurdly ridiculous things I've ever heard. I've been to many pubs and taverns in my 61 years, and if they have a happy hour, it applies to everybody no matter where you sit. I actually wrote a letter to the manager, expressing my disappointment, and also explaining that I am a tall 61-year-old man with a bad back. I cannot sit at a barstool. I have to sit with my feet touching the floor. I said in my letter that I feel that it is somewhat discriminatory for older people. I also said in my letter that I find it ludacris that happy hour only applies to people only if they're seated at the bar. The manager never responded so I sent a follow up letter a couple of weeks later. And I still have received no response. Needless to say I will not be going back there Another issue I had was, over in the bar area. They have an electronic sign of all the beers and other related beverages that they sell. The number one item on the list was Angry Orchard, which is my son's favorite. The waiter told us that they don't sell Angry Orchard at the Bridgewater location, and that the sign at the bar is electronically fed with the same information as the Phillipsburg location. Again, along with having to be seated at the bar area to take advantage of happy hour, the streaming of the data for sign also ranked as among the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. The sad thing was I was really excited for this location open because I had been to the Phillipsburg location and actually liked it. This location is awful. If the manager doesn't care about customer feedback, then let the business fail. I am retired from law-enforcement and I am a prominent figure in my community and with the retired community. I have let everybody know how I was treated at this location and luckily this group of 20 or 30 people that live right in the area of the Stone Tavern have no desire to go there. read more

Food was better then expected. Had a NY Strip steak and it was cooked perfect (medium) and came with two sides. My wife had the ribs which literally fell off the bone tender. Service was great as our waitress was very friendly and constantly checked with us to see if there was anything that we needed. I would definitely go back and try some other dishes. Unfortunately you never get a second chance to make a good first impression. Sat at the bar, wasn't that busy, waited for menus, very poor engagement by the bar staff. Was very warm inside and seemed like no air conditioning. Finally had a very nice server take our order. Ordered the octopus appetizer which had a very strange consistency. The entrees eventually arrived but had to ask for our salads. The entrees were ok. Just seemed like there was no direction or management! The bartenders seemed more interested in each other than focusing on the customers. I worked in the business many years ago, back when a gratuity was earned with good service and not simply expected. We were excited to try the place as we watched it being renovated and prepped for their opening. Place/Ambiance is Great. Food and Drinks sucks! We tried there burgers and lamb chops, the way they cook is great but lacking of taste and seasonings. Fries not deep fried, I rather have Mcdonalds fries than them. Chicken wings is over fried and breading is awful. The server is nice but don't know what to offer or suggest. Alcoholic drinks? Forget it!!! They need to change the bartender(sorry!) the espresso margarita is ok but the moscow mule is just a lime ‍. Nice looking restaurant, pretty modern. We waited 15 minutes before I got up to tell the hostess that we don't have a waiter. Apps came out very quickly, makes you think they have food pre-cooked. Fried Calamari was somewhat soggy, garlic shrimp was way too sour (too much lemon). I ordered a filet mignon medium, it came out medium well and was ALL wood smoke flavor, could NOT taste the meat. Daughter ordered "The Hamburger", 100% smoke flavor, she didn't enjoy it. I never got my salad, I had to remind the waiter. Wife got her salad but they forgot the dressing. Not sure if this is due to them being new, but we won't be going there again. read more

For what they charge they should make the plates visually appealing as well flavori g. I got 6 dry scallops Ona plate with no sauce and a baked potato. Others have made these same/similar observations: a) the place is newly opened and will suffer 'growing pains', (which became a bit obvious to us), and b) you only have 1 chance to make a first impression. Stone Tavern in Bridgewater could have done a better job at that. A confusing but not totally unpleasant encounter. My spouse called days ahead to make reservations for a party of 4 and was told they only take reservations for parties of 6 or more. That was also found somewhere in their web site. Our first visit would be with another couple, so we'd be a party of 4, but decided we'd take a chance going in 'cold'. Arriving about 7:35 PM on a Saturday night, we asked for a table for 4 and were asked if we had a reservation. Confused, we said no, because we weren't a party of 6. The hostess' expression seemed to confirm she was unaware that reservations were taken only for parties of 6 or more. We were told there was a 15-20 minute wait and the hostess took our phone number. We waited in the outer lobby. After about 20 mins, and watching numerous other parties both enter and leave, we checked in again because we weren't sure if we should expect a text or a phone call, We were told it would be about another 10 mins. Meanwhile, plenty of other parties of 2 , 3, or 4 entered and got seated much sooner than us. Eventually someone other than the hostess stuck his head into the outer lobby and called our name. Even walking to our table, (a booth right next to the kitchen door), the level of noise was annoyingly apparent. Hey, I know crowds generate noise, and I know noise can add to the vibe and excitement of being out among others, particularly on a weekend night, but the high ceilings with no obvious sound-deadening cover made conversation difficult. If your server repeats your order to confirm it and you can't hear what's being said, it's arguably apparent that it's too noisy for good service. Not only was the noise level high from the crowd, but the music could have been a bit lower. The fact that one of our party has some hearing impairment also made for difficult - and understandably taxing - conversation. (NOTE to Seniors: consider somewhere else if you use hearing aids or suffer hearing impairment of any kind. For some reason, most dining establishments seem to give short shrift, if any, to the noise level, which keeps seniors from patronizing them). Our server came and took our drink and appetizer order (3 glasses of wine and a beer, fried calamari, and margherita flatbread). Those arrived, along with water with a lemon slice. Our server then took our entree and salad orders: ribs, a flatbread, eggplant, and scallops, with 4 salads with various dressings. The salads arrived shortly after we'd finished with the appetizers. Shortly after that, our entrees arrived while most of us were barely halfway through our salads. Now we're starting to feel rushed: finish our salads, while our entrees got cold, or skip the salads or let them wilt and have the entrees hot? We decided to finish our salads. So, some of the entrees reached room temperature before we started with them, particularly the scallops. After dinner, we returned to the host's home and compared our individual opinions of our night out. The consensus was that the timing of courses seemed rushed, and while the food was ok, (certainly nothing we found worthy of sincere praise), 3 of our party noted the overall experience was enough to state they would neither return nor recommend the place, and were unlikely to purchase gift cards for dining there. Went there today at 5pm, Sunday, and after sitting there a half hour, had to get up to get someone to wait on us. Service was bad. The person seating people was the manager who was frazzled. Once the waiter came to take our order we just sat there. Ordered two appetizers and never got plates or utensils. After that sat over an hour for the food that never came. So got up and got the manager who was seating people, and he lied to us telling us our meal was ready. Food still never came. Four different people came and asked what we ordered. Only one person out of four gets their food. Talked to the manager again who stated he was trying to help a lot of people. Asked for the owner who everyone said was in the back, but he would not come out. When we got some kind of food you could not eat it. The noodles were in water and the shrimp was dripping water. I know that this is a new place, but it should not have been that bad. And an owner should never hide. Would never go back and would not advise people to go there. Don't waste your money. Do not see this place lasting. There is no excuse. No one greets you or smiles. I believe the waiting staff gets the brunt of it all and maybe the owner should be looking for a new chef that knows what those dishes really are for example alfredo sauce is not seasoned water and don't get me started on blackened chicken. Very disappointing. I went there with my boyfriend around noon last Saturday. The restaurant was not very crowded at that time. We got a table two minutes after we walked in. We saw six waiters/waitresses were talking and doing nothing at the back. We had waited for 15 minutes and tried to get someone to come over to our table to take our orders. We saw the waitresses avoided any eye contact with us. The couple at the table next to us told us that they had waited for long time to order their food and drinks. They could have left already, if they did not get the drinks after the 30 minutes wait. We waited for another 5 minutes. No one came to see and check on us. Then we left the restaurant. I am not so sure if I want to go back again. Usually Friday and Saturday are the busiest days for the restaurants. I believe this restaurant should hire some people who want to work and want the restaurant to be successful. read more

I would be doing the reader a disservice if I didn't record this note. Just back from the Stone Tavern in Bridgwater. Saturday night 6 pm reservations for 4. We sat right away, had a waiter within 10 minutes ask us if we were drinking, yes was the answer. When we received the drinks we gave him our orders. Two meals and two sandwiches. The meals were to come with side salads. Order was placed and my first beer was about half gone as it was. Fifteen minutes and the meals were out. My beer was empty and I told the runner to tell the waiter - to bring me another. She said ok. Saw her 10 minutes later had to ask yet again. Meanwhile the waiter nowhere to be found. I had to get up and go to the bar and order the beer as my food sat. The hostess ran it over and gave me a complimentary beer. The guy who waited on us offered an excuse he was really busy. OK so? Dessert time - my cappuccino never arrived - began to think this guy just didn't want to make me happy. The two dinners including mine never got our side salads. The waiter was the worst. The excuses were valid - it was busy but lost credibility when he chose to never come by the table even once to ask how our meals were. The vote was unanimous from our table to never go back. We went to the Stone Tavern this last Saturday night excited that it finally opened. Arrived at 5:00pm waited around 20 minutes for a table. After about 15 minutes of sitting there we asked the hostess who our server was. The server finally showed up and was very pleasant but extremely inexperienced. She asked for our drink orders and when we asked for a beer list she instructed us to scan a QR code for the Untapped app. This annoys me when a restaurant want you to scan an app to get their beer menu. If you are familiar with the app it's where you rate beers 1-5. They did not have one beer that over a 3.4 which is mediocre. We placed our meal order and it came out fairly promptly but was wrong. One of the dishes was supposed to be shrimp parm and came out chicken parm. We had two Chicken Scarpello's and neither dish had more than three small pieces of chicken and when I say small they were 1 inch by 2 inches. The shrimp scampi had way to much garlic. This was not a good experience. It's a shame because we live in Bridgewater and it will be a long time if ever go back. read more

My family and I came to dine at the Stone Tavern in Bridgewater on Sunday, April 13th and we did not have a good experience. Our appetizers were brought to the table behind us, I ordered the gnocchi dish and when they brought it out, it was penne pasta, another ordered shrimp that were hard because they were overcooked, another ordered steak medium and got it well and tough. Another ordered the eggplant and hardly any sauce was put on, a different shrimp dinner was ordered in place of the other shrimp dinner, and she asked for butter to dip the shrimp in and got pats of butter. Then when we were all finished another runner came with an order of wings and said, here is your appetizer. obviously, it wasn't ours. we don't mind paying the bill, it was just about $400.00, and that was with a couple of items taking off the bill because of mistakes, but we would have liked good service. Your staff should have been trained better for the opening. we probably will never be back again. read more
