I must say that my experience started off a little shaky... but this review is based on the taste of my food and the amazing level of service I received. I ordered my favorite - a bowl of Tomesto! However, I quickly noticed that my pasta was a bit undercooked and firm. I brought it back to the counter and before I could make a request, the manager came over to ask what the concern was. The staff was apologetic, helpful and accommodating. The quality of my food was even tested to ensure perfection. My friend and I were checked on throughout our meal and provided anything we needed without making a single request. This staff is attentive, friendly, ACCOMODATING and efficient. Dining area, counter tops, drink station and restrooms were clean; all checks in all blocks for me! I made the drive all the way from San Diego and would definitely do it again. read more

Interesting place this grill they call Stonefire! After the reviews on Yelp I just HAD to try it out. Good thing a fellow Yelper was down to meet me in Irvine! Had no idea the place was of the kind that you order at a register and take a number, usually food from those kind of places is lackluster...but not so at SG! The individual meals are a great deal, protein, choice of salad, and bread sticks... Dinner buddy and I got the tri tip and the lemon chicken. both were VERY savory and satisfying! The food here is pretty good across the entire menu. From salmon, to tri-tip, there isn't anything I don't like. Even the pizza is delicious. The only problem is it can get a bit expensive if you are going for diversity, so try to take advantage of their combos if you can. For the sugar/carb/oil conscious, get the garlic pepper instead of the bbq sauce, and even better, ask for it on the side (especially if you are ordering the garlic salmon/chicken... it can be quite oily if you don't get it on the side). pro-tip: On a budget? Order the 'small' (NOT petite... you want the small size) BBQ chopped salad (with chicken or tri-tip). Even though it's advertised as a 'small' size, this thing can feed at least 2 people, and probably 3, and it's about $10, and DELICIOUS. One of my favorite restaurants to go to when I come home! Three of us split a big special for $36 that included a pizza, salad, tri-tip, and 8 breadsticks. We ended up also adding a small bowl of mac and cheese on the side too. We obviously took home left overs cause there was so much food, but it was so delicious! 3.5 -- I think I'm being harsh today. It was dinnertime and pretty crowded, but we were seated pretty quickly. I had the combination tomato and pesto pasta dish. No, they didn't dunk both sauces on pasta -- it's two kinds next to each other. Very delicious, and the personal size is plenty. I generally find the pizza at Stonefire to be kind of bland and dry, but their breadsticks and pasta are worth a try. The salads are kind of hit-or-miss, but err on the side of getting smaller than you think you need, because those bowls are deceiving. I ordered ranch dressing, which was way watered down. We were so excited to try out this 4 stars place and ready to order 3 Full rack of Ribs... When we walked up to the register and ordered "Can I please have 3 Baby Ribs Full Rack?", the girls replied, no. We were like what do you mean? She said no.. I asked again what do you mean? No more? There isn't much to report about this place. It's clean, the food is tasty but mediocre. They have a really nice outside seating area but my partner and I were about as underwhelmed as you can get. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of garlic mashed potatoes, and a "works" pizza. The pulled pork had a delicious barbecue sauce, but the meat was extremely fatty, and it was off putting. The garlic mashed potatoes had good flavor but tasted similar to boxed. The works pizza was tasty, but on the same level a frozen pizza is tasty when you get it nice and crispy and toss on some fresh veggies. For some odd reason, my husband's employees chose Stonefire Grill as the place for the Christmas party/dinner. Nobody had ever eaten there before, so we thought we would try it. Not exactly a place to take your employees out for an end of year celebration, it was very loud. The wait was supposed to be 15 minutes, but it was 45 minutes so we were seated at around 7PM. While we were waiting, I sat next to the fire outside and some little kids were putting sticks in the fire and waving them around. Their parents were totally oblivious so I decided to move instead of risk getting burned. So we were finally seated. They were out of tri-tip and salmon, they ran out of ribs, and they ran out of cheesecake and blueberry topping. There were 6 people in our party, and they could only give us one piece of cheesecake and 2 tablespoons of blueberry topping. After they brought the cheesecake, the pizza, which was apparently the only thing left to eat in the restaurant, finally showed up. To the dismay of one of our guests, the wine selection was extremely limited. This place was loud and chaotic. It would be a good place for families and the food was decent, but it was definitely a DIY type of holiday party. It was all family style and there was not really any service. When we asked our waitress about things she pretty much had no clue. We should have turned around and gone somewhere else. Better luck next year. read more

Currently eating my leftovers from take out I got for the family last night on the way home from work. Picked up Caesar salad, Mesquite BBQ Boneless Chicken Breast, Breadsticks, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and two full rack of ribs. I asked for extra Caesar dressing and the take-out cashier obliged with a pleasant attitude. When I got home, the ribs were not in with the order so we called back and Sarah was nice enough to refund the amount of the ribs and still let me go back and pick them up. That made my sister and Mom happy as they truly enjoy the ribs. The Caesar and breadsticks are a perfect way to start a meal. I looked around the restaurant while we ate; it was very busy and active -- and after my recent dining experience, I don't understand the popularity of this long-standing place. Yes, the portions were generous; however, the (supposed) Cobb Salad (served in a stainless steel mixing bowl - it's not just for prep work anymore!) was chopped almost-beyond recognition, and vapid (I don't recall tasting the bleu cheese); even dousing it with additional requested dressing hardly made a difference. Why doesn't one get to select their dressing (I prefer a creamy dressing with what I consider a Cobb salad). I was puzzled when I'd ordered a "petite" salad, but was told they "actually only have small" (why offer the option on the menu?!). The Baked Rigatoni, consisted of very lightly-coated chewy pasta tubes, with at-most a generous tablespoon of meat; once you removed the top layer, sparsely covered with melted cheese, the rest was blaaaahhhnnnd. I heard that the au jus accompanying the French Dip also lacked flavor. The staff was appreciatively pleasant, but they all seemed to be on auto-pilot; they smiled, they ran through their lines (How are you? Can I get you anything else?), but disregarded any questions asked of them. Considering one orders at the counter, gets one's own plates, utensils, napkins, drinks (in small plastic or paper cups), I question why I added such a generous tip to our nearly-$50 bill. Taking home the uneaten portions didn't even enter my mind. I'd recently ordered takeout for a large group (a Crowd Pleaser). Even after confirming the details and expressing the importance of having the order ready at a certain time, my wait time still exceeded 25 minutes. After having ordered takeout for large groups from several places, Stonefire Grill's packaging was the least transfer-friendly; sauces from a couple of dishes had oozed out, resulting in an unattractive and messy presentation when serving at our destination. Good thing I noticed, before leaving, that the plates and utensils were missing. I've never been a huge fan here, but I do recall having had some flavorful items in the past. Was there a management change? A company-wide change? Perhaps I came on an "off" day. Ending on a positive note, the best part about my recent visit, was the breadsticks -- served hot-to-the-touch... and my dining companions. read more

The BBQ chopped salad did not have any BBQ chicken, only bland boiled chicken. Breadsticks were all very overdone to the point you couldn't eat them. Potatoes were decent. We came here for lunch after a very long hike. We ordered: Chicken Caesar Salad-Large portion in a bowl! It looked amazing! My friend loved it. She also got me addicted to their homemade garlic Caesar dressing! Chicken pesto sandwich-My friend said it was ok. The bread was tough and there was very little chicken in it. Lemon Half Chicken with side salad-I liked my chicken but it was a bit dry in the middle. I would recommend a side of the garlic Caesar dressing to dip the chicken in. The side salad was good. The breadsticks are really delicious!! BBQ Chicken Wrap-My friend loved the BBQ sauce in it. Service was really good even though the place was packed! Food is good but the management is atrocious. I've been coming here since they opened. Although service has never been their strength, we come here because the food is good and easy for our kids. I felt compelled to write a review after numerous negative experiences in the past couple of months: - in two successive visits, I ordered the tortilla soup. In both cases, 15 minutes had passed and I still had not received the soup. In both cases, the manager half-heartily apologized and told me that was not the norm. The second time it happened, I mentioned to the manager that it had taken this long the previous time as well. Again, he apologized and promised to "take care of it." I never heard from him again. - the "family value" loyalty program is useless. After checking my recent visits on their website, I found that 2 out of 3 visits were not being credited. This is even after I confirmed with the cashier that they had swiped my loyalty card. The last time there, I even pointed out to them that they did not properly credit my purchase while still standing at the register. The manager stated that the transaction was complete and that there was nothing he could do. I would have to email corporate HQ to request credit. If you offer a loyalty program, you should be able to execute it successfully. These people clearly don't understand that. Just look to CPK or Chick-fil-A to see how successful loyalty programs are managed and operated. In all of my interactions with management, I have walked away feeling unappreciated with no sense of deference on their part. It's a real shame. read more

Stonefire is one of my favorite destinations for a hearty and gratifying meal at a fair--excuse me, more than fair--price. (I'm just now remembering the portion sizes). If you want pizza or pasta, FORGETTABOUTIT! My signature order is the bbq chicken breast/lemon garlic tri-tip combo with a Greek salad. Stonefire peddles the shit out of their BBQ sauce, but their Gorgonzola spread a.k.a. bleu cheese "butter" is Stonefire's unsung hero. Apply a generous amount to your tri-tip for some thrilling flavors. RECOMMENDATION: To avoid "over-eating" in the practical sense, since pretty much any restaurant gives you a larger portion than you should eat, try to finish only half your salad. Trust me on this one, you'll need the room (and energy) for your meat. If you're the "human trash can"-type, I suggest the Carrot Cake. It tastes sublime. Oh yeah, and it's fucking massive. This food is good.It's located next to chipotle. Typical American food. You come in and order at the front, then they give you a number. You go find your seat and they will bring the food to you. My favorite dish here is the tri tip and the chicken Cobb salad with Bleu cheese dressing! Also, the Stonefire favorite pizza is definitely worth trying. I add pepperoni to mine. Gotta love that Stimulus Package. For $25 after tax, you can feed four reasonably hungry people with salad, breadsticks, pizza, and a protein. It's a great deal AND it's cheap, so what's not to like? Man, I really miss having a Stonefire Grill nearby Surprisingly, nothing in this deal is "meh" quality. Even the starters are impressive. The breadsticks don't just have a wimpy hint of garlic and cheese - they're loaded with them. Make sure to eat them fresh though, you don't deserve anything less than piping hot! I've only tried one of the salads, but that's because caesar is all I need. The dressing has a definite but restrained kick to it that keeps it engaging. This is one of the few places where I'll go for seconds on greens. Things get less interesting with the pizza, but it's still a very welcome addition to the meal. It's actually only 10" and will probably go fast, but at least you can say you got to eat pizza and steak at the same time. The tri-tip is obviously the star of the show, and while it isn't steakhouse quality it's still very good. You get the option of pepper garlic or BBQ sauce dressing, but why choose between them? Go for half and half, your party will be glad you did. Service is top notch. I've always had a great experience at any stage during my pigouts here, and the staff was very accommodating when I was picking up a giant order for work. Great deal, great food, great experience. I just finished eating here and it was bomb-diddly-nom!! We got the tri-tip, baby back ribs, garlic mashed potatoes, pesto pasta, and Caesar salad. First of all, the tri-tip was tender and perfectly cooked. The barbecue sauce kicked complimented wonderfully. The baby back ribs melts in your mouth as you barely bite it off the bone. The garlic mashed potatoes were spiced wonderfully and the pesto pasta was rich and delicious. Overall, I'm glad that I got to experience this bbq place. I ordered catering from here last week for my company luncheon for 50 people. When my boss told me to order catering, he said "get something nicer than the sandwiches we usually have, and don't order any of that turkey and mashed potato stuff that is more for the holidays. Get something different, and make people feel good (meaning don't skimp out and go cheap." Well! I had quite a challenge in front of me, especially because even when my boss wants me to make things look nice, he still doesn't want me to spend an arm and a leg (as he came back into my office to tell me a couple hours later). I searched the Internet for like 2 hours looking for someplace that would fit the requirements my boss gave me, and also that would have some good veggie options for a few of my coworkers. I found a few places that would work, but they were super expensive. Finally I found Stonefire Grill and hallelujah! We got BBQ tri tip, garlic chicken, pesto pasta salad, bbq beans, marinara pasta, and mac and cheese, plus bread sticks, all for $12/pp. Such an awesome price! And let me tell you, the food was AMAZING! The girl delivered the food right on time and set it all up in our lunch room to look great. She mixed some of the pastas and sauces right there on the spot. And when everybody came in to eat, let me tell you, ALL 50 people were going "mmmm oooh yummm mmmm this is so good omg mmmmmmm the tri tip cuts so easily omg where did you get this it's so good let's get this for every lunch mmm I'm going here with my family mmmm this is so good!" The lunch was a TOTAL success, my boss thought it cost WAY more than it did and when he found out the price he was so happy and it was just an excellent catering experience. I had lunch yesterday at Stonefire Grill. We ordered the lemon garlic salmon, a garden salad and carrot cake for dessert. I have been to many Stonefire Grill locations and all were on point food was delicious. However, yesterday my meal was absolutely horrible. The salmon was not grilled. I think it was poached. It had hard garlic pieces on it, and it taste like old fish. I was so disappointed that I actually had to get a refund. Finally, the waiter brought out the carrot cake that was shared by me and my guest and it was straight from the refrigerator cold as ice. Who serves ice cold cake. I could not even eat it had to take it home and leave it at room temperature and eat the next day. Needless to say the carrot cake was just so so. Again I say I have never been disappointed at Stonefire Grill, but this location was the worst I have ever had. Whoever is preparing the food, please do a better job and live up to the Stonefire Grill standards. read more
