Really great, food prices and service. Amazing BBQ sauce that you can't find anywhere else

I had the toughest French dip here ever. The aujus was thick like gravy and extremely salty, completely unusable (I love salt) it was ridiculous. They used thick slices of tough fatty trip tip. My husband's bbq beef was the same. Maybe their other items are ok but they do not know how to cook or slice tri tip for a sandwich. Garlic mashed potatoes were ok except for the several whole garlic cloves. Beans were funky more like an odd soup. Not our kind of place. I'm not a fan of ordering your food at a cashier and then having to get your own drinks and silverware. I was under the impression it was a restaurant not fast food, my mistake. Soren was very very helpful and kind we didn't know where the utensils were and he told us where they are but he went and got them for us. Also Doug was very polite and kind with telling us about the menu when we were in line and helping us get our to go boxes. read more

This is an example of great service and even better food. We got our food in less than 30 min. This is a fairly new restaurant but I have been to the other location and this is mostly the same but not in a bad way at all. Like I said before the service is out of this world, and the food will blow your taste buds away. My husband and I ordered take-out when they first opened up. We ordered our food and left to go shopping came back and waited 45 minutes. We figured they were new and would improve. Tonight we went in, ordered our food to eat there. Suddenly everyone around us who sat down after us is getting their food. 30 minutes later I find out the ticket was never put in for our food to be made. We got a refund and left. first time at stonefire grill on opening day. very friendly service for a relatively affordable cost. very nice friendly workers. however, we did have a couple issues with the cleanliness the seats were were still left wet and the bathrooms were not kept up with. i ordered mac n cheese, chicken bbq salad, breadsticks, mash potatoes and a half slab of ribs. the food was alright nothing too special. i recommend the salad and breadsticks. food comes in big portions so make sure you're hungry. read more

My husband and I went to Stonefire in Ventura for the first time, he had heard it was good and wanted to check it out. First off, we were not impressed with the ordering system, it seemed a bit unorganized. We sat down and immediately brought out our salads. They were just okay. We weren't even half through our salads when our tri-tip and ribs came out. It seems the meal should be served once a person has finished the salad course. The meat looked tasty, but it wasn't as hot as I thought it should be, then I realized it would only get colder since it came out so early. So I continued working on my salad and I was almost done when I found a black hair in the bottom of my salad bowl. I was thoroughly disgusted. We called manager, I presume he was the manager, and I showed him the bowl and, I kid you not, the first thing he said was 'sorry, that hasn't happened in a long time'. Needless to say I was taken aback. Then he repeated it again in his attempts to apologize. He took the bowl to the kitchen manager and returned apologizing more and once again saying that hasn't happened in a long time. At this point I was not interested in eating anything else there. He offered me a new salad, I said no thank you, he offered me a free side, again, no thank you. Then he offered free desert. At this point I was exasperated and we agreed to the desert. When he returned I told him that the appropriate response when I showed him the problem would have been 'I will comp your meal and refund your money'. So he offered that, which I accepted and he took away the rest of the meal. I never got to taste anything except one slice of tri-tip and it was not hot. My husband was equally dissatisfied with the ribs. At this time we noticed that none of the staff working with the food were wearing any kind of hair net or head cover to keep hair from the food, which I find disgusting. A hair in my food is not appetizing and not conducive for a return visit to your restaurant. read more

My friend had to do all of this out of state as she was with her daughter graduating from college and still playing softball! Ally (very pregnant) helped me and the order was ready when I got there. I had lunch today and the food was amazing but the service we received was even better, Doug who took our order was beyond exceptional he was helpful patient, Doug noticed that we wated a while for our food and came to let us know how busy it was and apologized, which was fine if I had a company I would take him from stone fire (lol), I don't come across this type of service so when I receive it I make it a point to recognize such expertise...Thank you Doug and hopefully they give you a raise you definitely deserve it. read more

This was our first time to Stonefire Grill, and I was surprised at the way they changed the typical dining experience for a restaurant of this type - you order at the counter and find a spot to sit. I must say this - every one of the employees that my family and I had contact with were amazingly helpful, courteous, and polite - but hands down -Doug at the register was soooo helpful and calm to guiding us "stonefire newbies" with hidden menu options, recommendations, etc. Seriously he was one of the most awesomely helpful people I have ever encountered in a restaurant. Horrible service. Weekend manager refuses to honor the military discount. She claims the prices are already discounted, therefore she wont honor their military discount policy. Fraud!!! Since getting a glowing recommendation from Parker, our friend who works here, we've come to Stonefire numerous times. We love the diverse menu and great vegan options. We particularly enjoy the cauliflower pita and build your own salad. The tri-tip is very good too. Today one of our items was slow out of the kitchen - first time to experience that here. Doug bent over backwards to make it up to us - and brought us free carrot cake :)! All the associates seem genuinely happy to be working here. So glad to have this option in Ventura! read more

It had the most delicious bbq Teri tip sandwich for lunch. The meat was cooked perfectly and very tender. A soft roll and just the right amount of sauce made it perfect. I had it with a side of potato chips that were crisp, tasty, and freshly made. There was so much I had leftovers! The service was excellent. I was checked on several times to see if I needed anything and if I was enjoying my food. They were polite and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! If I could, I'd give 3.5 stars. There is nothing wrong with Stonefire Grill. Unfortunately, with the exception of the bread sticks, there was nothing that was "wow". We are locals and had never been to any Stonefire. The staff was nice, the tri-tip & chicken breast were fine as was my wife's petite salmon salad. The quinoa was better than fine. If we return, we will try a pizza. The only real problem here is "so many restaurants, so little time". read more

We ate at the new Stonefire Grill in Ventura last week. The food was amazing. Everything is so fresh....love the tri tip salad and bread sticks. We also shared the garlic lemon salmon and it came with garlic mashed potatoes that were delicious. They have a large menu to choose from with lots of choices. We can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes. The waitresses and waters as well as the managers were so attentive and helpful. The restaurant is really decorated nice and I love that because I am into ambience along with great food. I would give this new restaurant 2 thumbs up and look forward to eating there again...... read more
