The food is good. The service is so-so. Nobody came to check on us while we were having dinner. I had to go back up to the counter to order our dessert. After 20 minutes, dessert still hadn't arrived. I finally flagged someone down who delivered it fairly quickly but just slung it down onto our table and said there you go. We came here to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary which I guess they don't do anything for. That's fine. The food is good and prices reasonable. I door dashed Stonefire Grill for my family tonight (9/27/19) and all of our food was amazing, my husbands meal on the other hand came up short. I called and spoke to Robbie the manager and he went above and beyond customer service for us. Not only did he have my husbands meal remade, but he had one of his employees deliver to us because I was home with 3 boys. My husband was still at work so I couldn't leave the boys home alone. Had a great experience. Now they did mess up my salad but the personalized attention I got from the front register was exquisite and made up for it. He helped us pick out our meals and was always trying to make sure we were saving money by ordering certain combos. He let us try beer samples to make sure we picked the beer we liked. We ended up with 805 ale. We ordered the Tri Tip & rib combo with garlic mashed potatoes as our side with a small cobb salad and it was plenty of food for the two of us. Not only did he come by to make sure we liked our meal he helped us pick out but the Manager stopped by as well. Now, I'm not that stoked about ordering before you sit at a place that requires a bit of time to figure out what you want but the customer service really made up for it!! After a goof on our order, the manager came over to us, apologized, refunded the $2, which I just added to the tip, and gave us a dessert. First discovered Stonefire Grill in TO. My family was happy to hear that one was opening in Ventura. We really gone many times. Their Mon through Fri lunch specials are very good. Quality food with quality service. Everyone is friendly and efficient. The are large. We liked the food so well I had them prepare the food for a family reunion we celebrated in July. We ordered online for pick up and that process worked. We got there about 20-25 minutes later and went to the pick up line. After 4 people came and asked us the name on the order and went to look for it, it was the fifth person that actually came back with the order. Right now, for a quick lunch, I would say this is not the place. To give them over 1/2 hour to prepare a to-go meal seems long. I ordered the 1/4 chicken with tri tip medium well. The tri tip was raw and not sliced all the way through. It was hard to cut with a plastic knife. The Chicken was good, salad seemed fresh and the dressing was ok. The bread sticks just didn't have a real noticeable garlic flavor to them even with garlic pieces on them. They were o.k., but I could pass on them. Maybe it is the 'Brand New' growing pains that they are going thru. But did the other locations go through this?? For now I'll stick with Wood Ranch and give Stone Fire a chance to work out the issues read more

This experience was so bad. Over cook tri tip then undercooked tri tip how hard is med rare. Ribs so uncooked red when you bit in to them and more fat then meat. They couldn't get the sides right either. They don't get people like to eat together not one eats while the other waits. Then they think offering to give a complimentary dessert will make it better. Wrong And what if you don't like dessert. They were great when they first opened and have gone down hill we finally. Gave up they were not that busy to not get it right everything wrong. read more

I really wanted to like this place; close to home and I love grilled meats. Tri Tip is certainly the main attraction here. Very similar in taste and cooking method as Wood Ranch, similar price. Chicken breast was rubbery and overdone, probably boiled or baked unseasoned. Despite being "Stonefire Grill" theres no grilled taste in sight. We're in Southern California, where Santa Maria style, charcoal or gas grilled tri tip are everywhere and usually really good. Why on earth would this place decide to make tri tip in a way only my grandmother likes? Greek salad was ok but mostly lettuce. Cauliflower salad was excellent and should be more prominently featured. Bread sticks were bland despite being covered in cheese and butter. Cheesecake was legit and would order again. In the end I can think of 3 places with 5 minutes drive that have better steak, chicken, and sides than Stonefire Grill. And all for the same price, this isn't value takeout food after all. This was the second time I tried this place. The first time was absolutely horrible. But like usual I try and always give a place a second chance. But today I went for dinner. The place was so dirty "no clean tables" but I finally found a table. Food came out and I was really surprised it was the same quality. I ordered the mashed potatoes and it wasn't mashed, big chunks of potatoes that weren't even cooked. But as I'm trying to eat the sandwich I ordered because I count eat the side, I noticed the cooks with no hair nets cooking and joking around in the kitchen and should of been covered up with something. I called in my order and was told it would take 15 min, but I waited about 40 min to go to the restaurant. Upon arriving, the girl at the counter confirmed my order and I paid. Mind you, the girl looked like she could have cared less about her job. I sat down and the girl walked away to do something else with her back turned to the customers. The manager had to ask her to answer the phone and go do certain things; no ambition at all. Another employee was asked by the manager to help customers and he mouthed off as he walked away from the manager. Clearly this manager is not respected by any of the employees. After sitting there for quite a while, I checked on my food and was told it wasn't quite ready, so I sat down for a bit longer. Meanwhile, a couple walked in and waited for a long time before being helped and complained to the manager. The manager walked over to me and started to explain that they never told the kitchen I was there and I would have to wait longer. I complained to him about his lack of a team and how I had now been waiting for about an hour, which is completely unacceptable. I was compensated for the meal and took the food home. After getting home, the chicken and tri-tip that had been sitting there while they made the pizza were now cold and the pizza wasn't even cooked all the way. Awful! read more

I'm thrilled we got a Stonefire nearby!! It was always our casual go to in Valencia when needing food for a large group. 5 of us went Friday night. We got 2 of the Stimulus Package deals (choice of meat, 1 pizza, 1 salad & breadsticks for only $24.99!!)--one with a whole chicken (half bbq, half garlic) and cartwheel salad and the other with tri-tip (half bbq, half rub) and a Greek salad. They're not kidding when it says one of these meals feeds 4+ people!! I've always loved their salads, tri-tip and chicken and this location did not disappoint. I'm used to their order at the counter style and I think it is this way at all of their locations so I'm surprised at all the Yelpers complaining about this, hahaha. Once the hype dies down a bit, hopefully the order area will work a bit better because the set-up is a bit cramped compared to the more open ordering area at the Valencia location. Maybe they can get rid of the weird walls tunnelling everyone in line to separate them from the to go line. It's a bit claustrophobic. read more

I don't understand the idea of this "restaurant". You wait in a long line (out the door), until you get to the front desk, order your food, and then go get seated. A drink doesn't come with your meal, you have to pay separately. My grandma got iced tea and there was soap inside of it!!! the food started coming quickly but the salads weren't made correctly, and the waiters were very chaotic. I also thought it was odd they didn't have fries. Overall the food was okay, but it's a very chaotic and claustrophobic environment. read more

We ordered the petite tri-tip which was extra tough and the grilled bbq chicken which seemed to have missed the grill and had zero flavor, the tea also had zero flavor and tasted more like water. Never saw a chicken breast so small, maybe 2-3 bites in all, drumstick was so dry it was hard. Tri Tip was mostly grissel, could barely cut thru it. Went there for lunch with a friend today. Place was nearly empty. I ordered Grilled salmon, caesar salad. My friend ordered the Turkey Club sandwich. By the time I got my drink & utensils my meal arrived. How could it be done that quick? My friend's sandwich came 15 minutes later. The salmon showed no sign of being grilled, more like microwaved. It was dry, overcooked & fishy. The salad did not look fresh, brown ends, not edible & finally, the bread sticks were dry & hard. The coke was good. Friend's sandwich was so, so. Doubt it was an artisan style roll. Our first time at this restaurant, but definitely not the last! Tried the bbq tri tip, ribs and chicken, everything was really good! The bbq sauce has a great flavor. We also tried the garlic mashed potatoes, beans and rigatoni with meat sauce and enjoyed them all. The garden salad was nice, but not much flavor in the ranch dressing. The Works pizza was delicious! The carrot cake was wonderful, definitely our favorite. The brownie was too rich for our taste. Service was very good, everyone was super nice and really good about explaining how everything works. Prices are reasonable and the menu has enough variation to please everyone. We are sooo happy to have Stonefire in our area!! Will be back to try other items in the very near future! read more

I went in for a quick dinner with a few friends and the place was so clean and organized. The staff was great and check on us regularly. Unfortunately, the chicken I ordered was a little soggy from the garlic sauce, but the rest of my table's food was delicious. On our last night in Ventura we were looking for a relaxing BBQ dinner. We should have known something was off when we arrived and we were pointed to the menus on the wall and to take a seat, the person behind the counter was ready to take our order when we were ready. BE WARNED THAT YOU NEED TO DO THE SERVICE FOR YOURSELF AT THIS RESTAURANT, drinks, silverware and plates are for you to get yourself. Kids were excited for pizza and ribs so we proceeded, bad decision. We ordered, a personal pan pizza, a kids order of ribs, chicken tortilla soup and 2 orders of petite chicken breast and tri-tips. Pizza was delicious, ribs weren't fall off the bone but no complaints. Soup was barely warm and had the consistency of pudding. One plate of chicken and tri-tips wasn't warm and I did not enjoy the chicken. The second plate of chicken and tri-tips wasn't cooked well. Wouldn't go here again. The best part of this experience was the dude clearing and cleaning the tables, he got the manager to switch out my soup for a salad and wish us a safe trip home tomorrow. I'm sure this restaurant is great for some families, it just wasn't for us. read more
