This place knocked my socks off, given there is a hurricane coming to the area. I went with 6 other neighbors, including kids. They seemed overwhelmed but still had good service. The food was awesome and the drinks had great prices and were delicious(the margarita my wife had was awesome). My daughter loved the spaghetti, on the kids menu and I had the Tex-mex burger(). I went to this place on opening night. I gotta say, the interior is great, the bar is the perfect height and the bartenders were attentive. Beer selection is fantastic, so many good ones on there that I couldn't find anywhere close to me on untapped. Food was good. I ordered the country fried steak, and it was yummy. Was really hoping this was going to be good. I was sadly disappointed. I went at lunch and not only did it take 15 minutes to get a beer once already ordered; but it took 45 minutes to get a salad. Not only that, but they left off ingredients on all 3 salads we got and the cooks argued with the server that they shouldnt be on the salad even though the menu said they should. Pure awful. We have been here twice. Love the decor and really want this bar/restaurant to work out. First time was on the 2nd day and the service was awful, long wait times, understaffed. Had the monte cristo and it was good. Golden Tee machine was not working properly, so that was kind of an issue. Returned a week later and the Golden Tee machine was still having graphic issues. Kind of a big deal to a Golden Tee fan. Had the Bangin Shrimp appetizer and it was excellent. Had a Bacon Bleu Burger and they forgot the bacon. Service was better as the restaurant was fairly empty. Some of the TVs at the bar were out. Again, really hoping this place turns around, but gonna give this a few more weeks to work out more of the kinks. read more

We stopped in to play Golden Tee and have a couple of drinks. This place is clean, huge bar area, and the service was great. We've been twice now and each time we got great service from the bartenders. Huge draft beer selection and large TVs to keep up on sports. This is definitely going to be a place we continue coming to for our relaxed Sunday outings. I am very disappointed in many different aspects of this new restaurant. First impression when reading the menu was that nobody proofread it. There are so many grammatical errors, and Desserts was actually spelled Deserts. Okay so it's a restaurant and not a school...our appetizer took 45 minutes to arrive and our dinner took 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive. Our server told us that it was the first time the kitchen staff had seen the menu?? I ordered the chicken fajita salad with dressing on the side. It was tossed in dressing and had incredibly dry grilled chicken not fajita chicken on it. We will give them some more time to get situated and will check reviews later. This was my first time here, let's hope it will get better. I called to place a pick up order, I was placed on hold for 10+ minutes. I was still on hold when I walked through the doors and sat at the bar. It was not quite 6pm and not busy at all. I placed my order and waited. I wasn't asked if I would like a drink while I waited either. Bartender who took my order saw nightshift bartender pick it up from the kitchen window. She says to me, your food is being bagged and will be out soon. I look over and visually confirm what she just said. I continued to sit for another 5-6 minutes, knowing good and well she knows that is my food sitting on the bar! The nightshift bartender doesn't know it and starts to make her way around the bar. I asked if I could please just get my food so I could leave. So frustrated!! I got home and the cheeseburger was good my husband said. I ate the monte cristo and it was also good. We were regulars of the previous establishment. We would meet neighbors there for dinner at least once week or so. Have now given this place three chances , and will not come back. Food is adequate, nothing special. It would be nice if they had more healthy options. Service has always been good. It used to have a homey feel, now they have raised the ceiling and it is loud and too bright. Friday night we went for late dinner and there was a band. It was so loud we couldn't hear each other speak. This of course is just my opinion and I am a 50 "something " with friends who like to go out and have a good meal and share a few drinks and catch up with everyone. Hard to catch up with the glaring lights and bad acoustics. Judging from the other patrons , it is a different crowd than they used to attract , so maybe they are just looking for the sports watchers and band listeners and not my demographic. Meh.... I was hopeful with new name and sleek decor the food would have improved, but no! Greasy fries were hinting about the taste of fish from the previous order. We went a day or two after opening. The interior looks amazing compared to Parson Jacks. They really made it look nice, bright, and open. Our service was not good. There was only one server that we saw for about 4 tables, one had maybe 8 people at it. She didn't seem too busy but just didn't make rounds very often. We waited a while to get silverware and napkins after our appetizer was brought to us. We saw our food in the window for at least 5 minutes before it was brought to us. Drinks were slowly refilled and extra dressing took a while to arrive after requesting it. A woman and her dog came and wanted to sit outside. The poor waitress must have forgotten about her because she waited a very long time just for water. We will go back to give it another shot and hoping it is better. read more

Our waitress was friendly and catered to our needs. Wings were good, French dip was to die for and fries were great! We also got the pretzels for appetizer and they were so yummy! Called the restaurant to see what could be done, and I'm assuming the manager was extremely apologetic and instantly worked to make it right - even tho it wasn't their fault. Nice selection of beer including many I've only been able to get on tap in other cities. The food came fast and was very good. We could sense that this place could become extremely loud when a work party of about 15 came in halfway through our visit. The ceilings are very high and though they appear to be covered in some type of absorbent material things got quite loud very fast. Not a big deal but something we'll consider in future. In all it's a vast improvement over the establishment that previously occupied this space in all respects and two of the five stars I'm giving Stones Throw are specifically for NOT being that previous place. read more

The place could be great, unfortunately, it isn't. It's overlit, overpriced and if that is not enough, do not ask the bartender for a 5/6$ tequila. You get ready for your tab and it's 12$ a shot. New bartender as I was told upon arriving. The girl behind the bar didn't seem impressed either. When I brought this to the lead bartender's attention, she simply did nothing to rectify it. I paid it, I even left a 5$ tip. While I was dealing with this, the guy next to me said he meets his friend there every Wed because it is close to her house. He said he never eats there because he was so dissatisfied with the quality and pays for his beer, one at a time. He said he sees my scenario all the time. Gouging is no way to win repeat business. I am in food service and have been for over 45 years. When I got home I read the reviews, seems I am not the only person that is unimpressed. Big storefront bars like these, eat up the space for good neighborhood pubs. They raise the rent expectations and provide nothing. Running a great restaurant is a daunting job. Running a crummy one, not so much. Either get it together or get out of Charleston. Oh, spice on spice....they upcharge if you use your card for payment.
