The first time I went here I would have given it 5 stars. They had the best wings I've had anywhere and a really good burger and it was $1 beer night or something similar so the bill was nice and low. Every time I've been back I keep expecting the same level of food that I had the first time and it never happens. I've given up. I'm not going back. Last time I was there they advertized a Wisconsin style fish fry and what was served was like frozen fish sticks. Horrid. There's nothing deep woods about frozen fish. Yuck. Was here last Saturday for appetizers and drinks. Good selections of draft and bottled beers along with some decent specialty drinks and wines. Place was buzzing pretty good. I love to bet on the ponies so this was cool-however I could tell many patrons were not interested in watching race 2 at Fairmount Park! There were many TVs with plenty of football on. Food was good- chicken quesadillas hit the spot as did their buffalo sauce dip. Hot and good. Points reduced for price and the helter smelter way you bet on the horses mixed with a sports bar and grill. Overall, good experience. read more

Stoney Point is a great place to grab a bite to eat and a beer or two. The food has been excellent every time I've been there and they have a very nice craft beer selection. I was worried the first time going there since it was an OTB but the betting area is completely separate and the restaurant/bar is very nice. I had NY strip and Melissa the chicken, we shared, both were awesome !! Great service. Many unique food items on their menu. You can partake in OTB and video gaming, but those activities are not the highlights and placed off the main isle. Many types of seating and the music is in the background. Stoney Point is my favorite bar/restaurant to go to within a 15 mile radius. It's northwoods feel is so satisfying and adds a great atmosphere to the place. Their food is high quality, phenomenal stuff. My girlfriend and I load up on appetizers everytime we go! Their Nacho platter is enough to feed 4 people. Their drink selection is also great. Came to Stoney for a quick Thursday afternoon bite before a conference based on a local area residents recommendation. I have to say, I wish I had a bar of this caliber near my home. First off, the bar, decor, amenities are a welcome site. There are plenary of TV for your typical bar atmosphere, however dining in a booth near the bar felt secluded enough to enjoy a casual conversation without needing to be loud. The staff was excellent. Friendly, helpful, and drinks were always filled. The food here was on spot on. I enjoyed a flank steak salad which the steak was char grilled to order. My wife ordered one of the burgers that had a sizable and juicy beef patty, thick cut bacon (that I of course stole a big piece of), on what I believe was a pretzel bun (or very similar). It was a big burger with a lot of fries (which by the way, I was told "the good kind of fries"). This place was pretty busy on a Thursday at 5pm which speaks volumes in my own opinion. If I'm in the area again, I wouldn't think twice about stopping in and trying the rest of the menu. I hear they have a killer balsamic vinaigrette too! read more

I used to love this place :( The staff was friendly and the food was awesome! I could go in there and sit for hours and talk with the cute bartenders and even the friendly management. However, lately most of the attractive/friendly staff has disappeared and the food has been ruined beyond repair. Some of the old favorites are just gone and the portions are not as filling. And the prices have gone up! Everyone who works here looks like they hate their jobs and I don't blame them. I met the owners once and they didn't even seem to care about making anyone's time in their restaurant enjoyable. They were too worried about getting drunk! Went once and will never go back. It gets one star because it is visually appealing. Everything else form my experience, not so much. My family and I went in for lunch on a Saturday because someone had given us a gift certificate. My first impression of the place was WOW! The inside is spacious and upgraded and I thought it would be a nice future hangout for games........but as we were leaving my impression was that it's so sad that a nice looking place like this has such terrible service and food. When we got there, there were only 3 other tables occupied which seemed odd for a Saturday. We sat down and quickly ordered our drinks and food. That's about all that went right. About 30 minutes passed and we started to wonder what was going on. We had a 2 year old with us so I tried finding the waitress to see if they could at least bring his food out while my wife and I waited for ours. It took another 15 minutes to find our waitress and have her return from the kitchen to tell us that after waiting 45 minutes, the cooks messed up our food and had to fix it. The waitress was apologetic and we knew it wasn't her fault so we agreed to wait. Now an hour has passed, and no food has arrived. Finally after an hour and almost 15 minutes the waitress comes with our "lunches". My son's turkey sandwich that had to be remade for some reason ended up being cold cuts of turkey on toast. The fruit we opted for vs fries (at an extra $1.50 charge) was an apple. Not a sliced apple, not a cut up apple but a whole apple plopped on a place, stem and all....for a 2-year old. I ordered a fish sandwich that was about the quality of a filet-o-fish from McDonalds only on better bread and my wife's chicken looked microwaved. Obviously, I was livid. I told the waitress that I could have made these 3 meals that we waited over an hour for in about 15 minutes at home and was very unhappy. She said she would see what she would try and fix it and would talk to the manager. I watched her walk over to a guy who was very interested to whatever game was on the TV and have a quick chat. He sent her back to tell me they would take $5 off the $50+ bill. Now THAT'S managing....LOL. Leave your poor waitress hanging to dry while you watch football. It's no wonder the kitchen staff was a mess. Needless to say since I had a gift certificate I paid the difference and left vowing NEVER to go back and to tell as many people as I can how big of a waste of money and time this place is. read more

First time dining at the grill. Friendly staff. Great wings. My medium burger was slightly over cooked and dry. Food service very slow. Don't know if all Saturday nights are like that. Extremely noisy atmosphere. Difficult to carry on a conversation with table-mates. Good place if you want to watch the Blackhawks with fellow fans. We have been going here for several years. But the last few times have been horrible. We kept thinking it was going to get better but we were wrong. It seems like their focus was on family, food and fun. Now its all about the alcohol and overcharging people. The worst thing is the service and food. They have been very consistent with having bad service and they are always looking for servers (red flag). The menu has changed and food is always lukewarm or on the cold side, not sure why. The portions have gotten smaller and the prices have increased. Make sure you ask questions on the specials, the half price appetizers are not exactly half priced. Only three appetizers on the menu are included in the special, but they do not tell you until you get your bill. Even the big sign in front of the restaurant clearly reads half priced appetizers. When questioned they truly did not care and would not even add "ask server for details", "some restrictions apply" etc. It was pretty loud in there too and you had to raise your voice to talk to each other. They are getting 3 stars from me but easily could be 4 after my next time there. Went there with my wife last weekend and ordered the buffalo chicken appetizer, I had the half slab of ribs and wife had soup and salad. The appetizer was good, came with pretzel bread, celery sticks and an assortment of crackers. Then we waited a long time for my lunch to come out. When it did the cole slaw was room temp and the fries were undercooked, ribs were good though. When I told my server about it she took the entire plate back. The manager himself came out and apologized and brought the food out himself as well. I was impressed with how he handled it considering the kitchen challenges. Overall the 2nd time around the food was good. I would go back based on how the manager handled the situation and assuming the food comes out right and a little quicker the place will get another star. read more

This is the ONLY TRUE Official Blackhawks Bar in the Chicagoland area! The Hawks games come first here! Other bars will favor other sports or even the jukebox over the Hawks game, some of them even being "Official" Blackhawks bars. Onto the food : you cant go wrong ordering any of the seafood on the menu. It all tastes great! The burgers are huge and tasty and juicy. The sandwiches are all tasty. The OTB betting section is split from the actual bar so, you can go to Stoney Point and have a great time all around betting on races, watching the Hawks, and eating great food! I just tried to eat at stoney point. the bartenders, servers, even the bussers are awesome people. the problem lies in management. if you are a regular, see how often staff switches over, no one can probably work with that guy. I doubt there is but a couple bartenders and maybe some longtime servers still working there. I had a hair in my spinach three months ago. the manager nick came out when I complained to my server, I said its ok I don't eat spinach the rest is fine. he said ok and left. didn't take my plate. didn't comp anything. and I was sitting there with a hair sticking up at me in my food. talk about management....the server was fantastic about it, took the plate away and made me a new one, even the bus buy cracked a couple of jokes to make us feel better about it, but wow.....never seen a fake manager like that in my life. We've been here before. Most times we've had good food, good service and it was a good time. However tonight, was a huge disappointment. We asked for a bottle of wine, and it took 20 minutes for the server to bring it to us. When it finally arrived, it was warm, room temperature at best. A white wine should be chilled, obviously they did not have this wine chilled beforehand which I'm guessing is why it took so long to get it. We had asked the server a few times about the status of our bottle and he kept saying "I'm sorry we're busy it's bucket night." If you know you're going to be busy, you should staff and stock accordingly. We ordered our meals that were supposed to come with salad and sides. When those arrived, we never got salads, soup or the sides we had requested. Again the food was room temp at best. I finally asked for a manager, and I spoke with Cameron. Cameron apologized, tried to make excuses, but was not at all sincere. I felt patronized and that he didn't care that we were having a bad experience. He said they would take the salads off of our bill. Of course the salads were a part of the price of the entrées so he really didn't comp us anything . They did take $25 off our $200+ bill. However, the lack of sincerity from the manager and the fact that he tried to make excuses for the bad experience will keep us from returning to this establishment. read more

Tons of fun at the OTB Stoney Point for the Derby. Live band & a lot of people. It was held outside and it was a sunny nice day. Although the bathroom situation sucked. I only saw the men go in to only 4 out door portal pottys. No women would go near them. Unfair I say. They had a few thousand people a the least going through all day / betting & drinking. No one was aloud inside. So literally no where for the women to go to the washroom. My suggestion is have more portals for women to go to. Do something more accommodating for women next year please!!!! read more

I was a little skeptical when I drove up and it was in a strip mall. I was pleasantly surprised when we stepped inside- very cozy and they have a large bar with lots of tvs. Cold beer, amazing Black & Bleu Steak Sandwich and I highly recommend the mac and cheese! This place was just ok. We went there for a couple drinks and dinner and were a little underwhelmed. We had been there in the past for lunch and it was great. The service was pretty good, but both the prime rib sand which and the all you can eat fish were pretty tasteless. Went to Stoney Point Grill on 10/10/2010. Very nice Grill and bar restaurant. We had a great server who went out of her way to make sure everything was good. The restaurant has a nice mix of booths and tables and has a back room for hanging out and watching TV. The food was good, Had the prime rib special that was fantastic. Definitely going back here again. We went here to use an Entertainment coupon. They accepted and server told us we would get a 15% discount when we come back. read more

Great Sports bar and delicious food for a bar!

We have been going to Stony Point for years. Introduced a lot of our friends to the place, and always had a great meal. Either the chef quit, or the quality of food has changed, it's just not the same anymore. We have been noticing the downward spiral the last few times we have been there. Buffalo Shrimp is getting skimpy, ribs taste like they are pre-cooked and reheated. taco Tuesday is lame, and the prices are to high for the quality of food. I am really depressed about this. What a shame. Just not being "wow-ed" anymore. Gotta find a new spot. read more

The food is good, the Blackhawks are always on!! They give out free Hawks jerseys on certain game nights, just for showing up you get a ticket. If you like horse racing as well the OTB is there as well. Not much more I could ask for, overall a good time with friends is always had! read more

It's a bar/OTB not designed to be family friendly. Don't bring your kids, bring your date. It's loud, it's fun, it's gambling, it's good bar + good food. Know what you are getting into and you'll have a great time. The food is very tasty, sampler platters are nice and chicken strips are sooo moist and soups are delish, but could have more presentation. (three chicken strips on an empty white plate) no garnish, no nothing. blah, but taste great! They could just bring it up a notch with a little care=garnish. I'd definitely go there again just for the food! Just remember it's a bar with OTB so if grandma isn't a gambler/drinker take her someplace else and come back here after you drop her off!! read more

Wait for the Zombie Apocalypse before you go here for food. We had dinner there tonight. Now at home making dinner for my wife and kids. Boiled noodles will feel like fine dining after this experience. Bar was nice; don't hesitate going if you want a beer(price for good beer sucks though). I cannnot believe anyone goes there and is happy with the food. I'll feel like I'm on the Truman Show if anyone ever tells me they like eating there because it will go against everything I know about the world. My expectations were low for nachos, quesidillas, chicken pot pie for the kids, and buffalo shrimp for me and my wife. Could not believe they put such little care and effort into those dishes. Couldn't eat more than a bite of that chicken pot pie or quesadilla. Buffalo shrimp were pretty good, and would be the only thing I'd recommend to anyone going there for a beer. I had two IPA's, so I should have been happy with anything that was hot and safe to eat. I cannot stress this enough, EAT BEFORE YOU GO! or have hot water ready on the stove so you can cook dinner as soon as you get back from this place. read more

There are a few things I LOVE about this place and a few that I HATE! Maybe someone there will read this and do something about the *hates* ... could turn you into a 5 star-er??? Love, love, love the food! My major love affair is with the chicken tenders - the ones here are for adults - they are decadent and have meaning - they are almost gourmet, if there can be such a thing for something so simple. Burgers are great, meatloaf is awesome, fish choices good too. Upgrade to the sweet potato fries, you won't be sorry - best ever! Okay, the downers - Service is almost always too slow - and if I weren't on my lunch hour, I wouldn't mind - having the tv's and all to kill time - BUT I'M ON MY LUNCH HOUR! If you park in the back and come into the place from there ... someone REALLY needs to make some upgrades to that area - it's not part of the restaurant, it's the OTB area -- but still -- it smells and looks like everyone, including the horses have urinated there. NO STARS! - First and LAST visit. The owners should be wary of the service from their help. Saturday, 8/1 - stopped in for the first time. Entered, saw the sign to seat yourself and decided to go to outside patio. Passed male server at the door by the slot machines and told him we would be outside. He said "OK".... Fifteen minutes later, and no one to be seen. The party outside in the "couch section" left - having finished their meal. Hubby went in to ask for service and was told they "would let the bartender know". Another 5 min. and a waitress came out - NO MENUS in hand, and chewing down her own food... as we were getting up to leave... When told we were leaving she commented "We don't check out here that often, you need to come in".. When we told her we did and its now been 20 minutes, she rolled her eyes as she kept chomping...She then said "Sorry"... I told her the owner should be... you just lost him business and cost him a bad review. read more

My family took me here for the Mothers Day brunch yesterday. What a horrible experience! The waitress we had was terrible. First she didn't explain to us how the brunch was served so I had to ask another patron where the breakfast items were. There were 12 of us so as our plates would empty, then just stack up in the middle of the table because she rarely removed them. She walked around talking on a cell phone and eating in the back area in full view of our table as we would wait for more drinks. In regards to the food service, they actually needed to purchase serving utensils! Some trays had none so you had to borrow from other trays, or they had tongs to pick up items such as mac and cheese. The fruit, cheese and vegetable table had no utensils so you had to use your hands. The dessert area was set up with only 1 spatula for 2 different pies, and no utensils to pick up ANY other dessert items. The food was cold, but the ONE good thing were the ribs. Evidently, other patrons thought the same thing but would have to find waiters to replenish the tray because nobody seemed to be watching what food items were needed. In fact, my husband went back for seconds on the ribs but they were gone. To end this, our bill was almost $300 and included a 20% tip that was added to the bill.
