After being a regular, we're not going back! We raved about Stoney River and brought our out of town guests. We made reservations for Saturday 7:30. We arrived at exactly 7:30 as the other diners that were seated at our table we're leaving. For 30 minutes we just sat there as our server and the bussers just went by, walking slowly and ignoring the table. After 30 minutes, we finally said something at which time someone came and as slow as a sloth, started bussing the table. I used to be a server then owned my own restaurant so I wanted to go and help and teach how to properly buss a table. We were finally seated after 8pm but still couldn't sit because the seats were covered with food. As the cleaned the table, they discarded the food on the seats and didn't bother wiping anything down. Our server saw and didn't bother to help. We finally ordered drinks our food then waited.... It took 10 minutes to bring us water but appetizers arrived quickly. The chips for the spinach dip were stale so we didn't bother with that which was disappointing since that's my favorite appetizer there. Once we received the Ribeye steak orders I realized there were no steak knives. Since our server didn't bother checking on us, I asked two other people for steak knives and nothing. Finally halfway through eating, she came by and I told her that we needed knives. She went and disappeared and finally brought them when we were down eating. I responded with, "we don't need them now since we're done eating." $42 for each steak and don't bother bringing knives???? I honestly would've been slightly more understanding if they were busy but they weren't. It was so embarrassing guests here to this service. read more

Every year its tradition for me to have Sunday dinner of my birthday week to be appointed to my family only. They look forward to me picking out a new place for us all. I decided upon Stoney River Steakhouse & Grill because my mom & bonus dad love a good, expensive steak while my brother and I seek out healthy seafood options lol. I had to make a reservation by calling directly because they're no longer on Open Table to reserve. During my dining experience, our waiter Damon was very patient and kind. He gave great service, drink recommendations & surprised me with a birthday card with all their restaurant staff signatures which I'm sure they give to all birthday guests :) We ordered a plethora of items I will post but my highlights were the AMAZING rolls which were like mini fried donuts that could easily be a dessert. The main item that drew me in to have my birthday here was the Whiskey Shrimp on Country Toast and it was everything I imagined and read about! I also absolutely loved my caramelized mash potatoes! After our meals & drinks, I was surprised with a lovely chocolate cake dessert that was enough to share with our table. Waited 15 minutes before a waitress came over despite it being lunchtime and a half empty room. Also waited 10 minutes after waters/teas came until wine came. Also had to ask for the rolls. Guy in chef's jacket kept coming out and staring into dining room, very weird. Didn't have the normal filet 3 ways meal but just filet tenderloins with sauce, 1 total piece of asparagus, and "jumbo lump crab meat". Mine was literally shedded crab meat that looked like claw meat at best. All for $49 with one side. Although we didn't complain, they did give us a free dessert for the initial wait for a waitress to come over. Not sure we will be back. read more

My mom and I took a lunch break from Christmas shopping in Annapolis Mall at Stony River Restaurant. It's upscale steakhouse, but they have many other food selections and signature items. Expect quality food from this location. They had a really nice wine, specialty cocktails and beer list. The atmosphere was very comfortable, warm and inviting. They had the fire blazing and tasteful Christmas decorations adorning the restaurant. Our water was a really nice and attentive young man with a very pleasant personality. The manager made her rounds and came came to our table to make sure we were satisfied with the food and service. They get an A+ for hospitality. Food: They serve these really amazing hot and doughy rolls with cinnamon butter. The rolls are more like a desert, and put you in mind of fried dough. They are DANGEROUS!!! French Onion Soup: It had a really nice deep beefy flavor; the onions were caramelized perfectly; and the melted cheese layered on top was cooked just the right amount of time. If you like French Onion Soup, you will want to try theirs. New England Lobster Bisque: Served nice and hot, with a smooth creamy texture (medium thickness) and a generous amount of lobster bits in the soup. Chris Chicken Sandwich with Gruyère, arugula, tomato, and lemon aïoli, with a side of Parmesan Fries: The chicken had good flavor, moist and lightly breaded. The fries were crispy and fresh. The Parmesan seasoning was a nice addition. We really enjoyed our dining experience, and it made for a memorable holiday experience with my mom who I only see a couple times a year since I moved away. read more

My s/o and I celebrated our anniversary at Stoney River Steakhouse this year and overall, we had a pretty good time. I ended up getting a nice big ribeye steak (with the bone in of course), while my s/o ended up with the prime rib (as always). This was our first time here, but anytime my s/o sees a prime rib on the menu, he can't resist. First off, the bread here is delicious. It's like a savory donut. You can't just have one... it was so airy on the inside, and with their butter, it's just out of this world. 10/10 would recommend Stoney to just open a side bakery and only sell this bread because it's that delicious. The ribeye was okay. I felt like it was a little too rare for what I asked for (definitely asked for medium rare). I used to eat steak rare, but lately, I've been losing my appetite at the sight of bloody steak. I've changed. The prime rib was delicious though. Food and servers are always excellent at Stoney River in Annapolis! We never have a bad meal. The waiters are phenomenal and on point. My daughter-in-law had the wild salmon with broccoli and asparagus and I had the grilled shrimp with rice and cream spinach. The stone puppies (rolls) are always warm and fresh. I will say my granddaughter didn't like their macaroni and cheese. Not very kid friendly with Gouda cheese and breadcrumbs, but other than that everything was fabulous.! read more

Came here on Sunday, 11/14/2021 at 2:00 PM. Masks aren't required here much like most of Anne Arundel County establishments. We had a reservation and were seated promptly Which was good since it was very busy. The bar area is to the right when you walk in and good for sitting and watching the scores of Sunday Football if that's what you desire. There were plenty of large parties and couples dining in as well. We were seated and out lovely waitress greeted us right away although I forgot to get her name. She was very pleasant and full of information from the drink menus. I ended up getting the recommended Lemon Drop Mojito and it was sweet with a little twang and just enough alcohol. Highly recommend. For appetizers we got deviled eggs and hot chicken biscuits. The eggs were standard but fair. The chicken biscuits were half and half. The chicken and the hot sauce were delicious but the biscuits were a little too tough and dry. My entree was the Medallion Steak trio which was good. I ordered it Medium and it was cooked perfectly. A mix bag. GREAT SERVCE must be noted as it's a commodity in scarce supply. SKIP the CEASAR SALAD, as it's just minced lettuce and has zero texture. GET the WEDGE SALAD, it's huge and terrific! GET the NEW YORK STRIP, perfectly cooked and choice beef was improved with the addition of herbed butter. SKIP the FRENCH FRIES, while a nice cut and presentation they were ruined by undercooking the first time and reheat frying a second time. GET the LOADED BAKED POTATO, delicious. Visit this restaurant with my girlfriend often. I have always had a pleasant experience and today would be another. We had a reservation for 7:30 and were sat right away upon arrival. Our server went over the specials as they always do. We always enjoy the steaks served at Stoney River. The service was great and on point. We never had to ask for anything or look for our server. The steaks were cooked to perfection as always. I enjoyed the Bone In Cowboy Ribeye and it was very flavorful. The shrimp was succulent and the "toast" was more like a griddled disc of buttery toast. 4/5 (I didn't like these enough to repeat the next time I visit.) Entree: The Cobb Salad (but it was a cuter name) This salad is HUGE and delicious. I definitely didn't have enough room to finish and actually had to take it home. My husband and I visited the Annapolis location last night (8/30/24) and from start to finish everything was amazing! Drew was our waiter and he was so accommodating! This was my first visit to Stoney River Steakhouse but it won't be my last. The food was delicious and the waiter was excellent. My one complaint is the food came out a bit slow but in their defense, it was a busy night. I got the ribeye, perfectly cooked, accompanied by asparagus (which was a little salty) and the sweet potato mash. My sister got the bistro chicken. I thought it was going to taste like a fried version of chicken piccata but it didn't. I wasn't a fan but my sister liked it. I got The Great Dane which was the best cocktail I've had in a while. We came in to celebrate a professional milestone for me. The staff celebrated with us by giving us champagne on the house to cheer the new success. The donut biscuit things are addictive. I definitely shouldn't have eaten as many of them as I did, but seriously, they were like savory dunkin' muchkins served with cinnamon butter. I also had the French Onion soup, which was so rich and warm, and inviting. It is clearly made from scratch in the kitchen. You don't get that flavor beef stock from a box or a can. I couldn't decide on the steak so I got the medallion trio so I could try three of their signature toppings. The blue cheese stole my heart, but the other two (mushroom and bearnaise) were also both incredible. However, the most impressive thing to me was the ability to order the steak at blue rare and it is that - something that is hard to find, but also difficult to do with medallion-sized pieces of meat. Fabulous cuts of red meat I must give them that--- however can be inconsistent with the cook job, and honestly the side choices and quality of them, leave much to be desired. I think they are quite mediocre for the price point. I always get the fliet mingon and it is always tender and juicy. Just wish the sides were better. This spot gives me amazing date night vibes with good conversations. The ambiance is very lovely. Although I decided to have my daughters birthday dinner here, we had a great time. The food was very hit and miss to my party. My friend did not like his crabcake, however he loved his New York strip steak. I enjoyed my food, however we all did not like the devil eggs. The butter rolls were absolutely amazingly good. I originally had the coffee cured steak and then quickly realized it was not a good fit for me, so I returned it for the New York strip steak. Went for a quick dinner for the first time at Stoney River. All Covid procedures were followed (Guests spaced out, masks worn, touch less menus, sanitizer, etc). Everything was delicious and served hot and fresh. We decided on the Whiskey Shrimp on Country Toast, a blue cheese encrusted New York Strip and the Bistro Chicken. Also tried two cocktails, the Matador and either the Southern Peach or Fire & Ice (I can't remember which I just remember choosing Whiskey-don't blame me, blame the pandemic). The shrimp toast was melt in your mouth good! That Dijon blanc sauce on the plate takes it over the top. My dinner date said the bistro chicken was cooked to perfection and one of the highlights was the side of Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese. As we know, everybody can't do Mac the right way but they did good here! The strip steak was cooked perfectly to my liking and the blue cheese crust added a nice bite to the meal. I had wild mushroom meatloaf it was absolutely delicious...The restaurant its self was very busy.. With that said we were seated at a reasonable time and weren't left to wait and after reinstated at the table we had only set for a few moments before the waiter had come over and taken our drink order. Our waiter was very friendly and as busy as he was he always made sure to come over and check on us and our food was out in a timely manner. Nice steakhouse with comfortable seating and a large menu. All the meats are broiled, so they won't guarantee anything requested more than medium well. Service we experienced was excellent. We tried the whiskey shrimp appetizer, and our party also took advantage of the filet mignon, the New York strip and the prime rib. Everyone was happy. The meat entrees all come with a potato option but any other vegetable or salad is extra. We did order the creamed spinach and the asparagus. Both were good, but the creamed spinach featured far too much cheese. Expect to pay in the $35 range for a steak. read more

Over the multi-years Stoney River has been at Annapolis Mall this was my first time eating here. It's not my first visit as the previous attempts, about five, I left before being seated. For this visit I was surprised by my Daughter as she invited me to dinner. She made a reservation via OpenTable and upon arrival we were promptly seated. It was couch seating at a table for six! Service was great. Food was even greater! We loved every minute of the visit. As to my previous visit attempts ... for each one I was a single patron and when a hostess immediately points you to the bar I've learned the restaurant doesn't cater to single diners. First time I was told all singles are seated in the bar, twice I was given a 45-60 min wait time when no-one else was waiting, and once I was told singles had to have a reservation. Presentation is artistic and lovely. My bf's filet was a little too charred on top, but otherwise tasted good. Chicken and biscuits were tasty, but the biscuits were a little on the dry side. The crab cake was a delicious crispy top and flavorful with a yummy mango jalapeño decoration. The salmon (Szechuan style) was outstanding, with asparagus and broccoli perfectly cooked. The cooked spinach side was also delicious. The bread appetizer was an interesting twist on a very traditional appetizer; not full rolls but rather small puck-like bread bites. They were decent. Their carrot cake is to die for! Take a piece home; it's massive and so very worth it. Moist cake with smooth, velvety cream cheese frosting with a side of caramel drizzle. All in all, a delicious meal. Sean was an outstanding waiter, and a great sport. His recommendation for wine was so good, we purchased two bottles on the way home. The Carrot Cake alone is a good reason to eat here. Every trip to the mall requires a stop at Stoney River. This is one of the few places left that has a great wait staff and the fire place is nice during the Holiday season. First impressions are 'it's nice in here". We are seated in minutes on a Saturday at noon next to the fireplace. There are perhaps a half dozen occupied tables though it's starting to fill up. The coffee is decent though after what we paid for a coffee table next door I should have ordered a beer. The meatloaf, burger, mashed potatoes, and broccoli are all very good. The fries are cooked but softer than I prefer. If you like them less crisp they're perfect. The service is very good. On Saturday 1/12, I hosted my husband's surprised birthday dinner at the Annapolis, MD location. Hannah Thurman, Administrative Assistant and Event planner made this event Top notch for me. Hands down, I couldn't have worked with a better host. Hannah made sure all my details were covered. All of them!!! This was a milestone birthday and my husband's first ever birthday party/dinner. Hannah and the management staff were very accommodating. From the start, Hannah answered all of my emails in a timely fashioned and when she knew she wouldn't be available, she left me with a name of another manager to contact in her absence if I had questions. Hannah even gave me the business card of a decorator who was familiar with decorating the private dining area at Stoney River, which was a big help. Hannah was not scheduled to work at the time of my event but she assured me that we would be in good hands with Gary the manager on duty. At my request, guest were served appetizers and drinks prior to my husband's arrival. Gary and the servers were outstanding. The servers were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was excellent!!!! Hannah made the planning for this occasion so easy for me with no stress. She worked closely with the decorator (who she referred) and between the two of them, I couldn't have asked for a better planned surprise birthday dinner for a party of 38!
