Nice dinner on a very busy Saturday night. Started with onion soup. Entrees: prime rib ordered medium rare was served raw so that wasn't good., steak frites ordered medium rare and served that way. Ordered a nice bottle of wine when we sat down but it didn't show up until the entrees did. Would liked to have had wine to sip with onion soup. I ordered their Hong Kong Style Sea Bass online through the company website (not DoorDash) and paid their $8.99 delivery fee. The food was supposed to be delivered at 7:25 and arrived at 8:10 pm completely cold. I called the restaurant at 7:50 and had to call 3 times to get through to a person that said Uber picked it up at 6:50. I was surprised because I didn't order through Uber. The kind hostess redirected me to the manager who said that I should call Uber directly to report the delayed food, even though I ordered through the Stoney River website. He recommended using DoorDash next time. Very disappointed in a cold $45 dollar dish that I paid $8.99 to be delivered plus tip. Please do not order from their company website and if this is how they handle issues, maybe not the place to go in person either. read more

I came here for the first time on Saturday, September 14th between 4:30-7:30pm to celebrate a friend's birthday. Let me start off by saying that the food here was amazing. I ordered the 14oz ribeye with the sweet potato casserole and broccoli. I also got to try the steak egg rolls. All of it was delicious. The steak was well seasoned and super tender (medium well). The steak egg rolls were so good, my eyes rolled to the back of my head. Yup....that good! The food alone deserves 5 stars. But the service that my group received here deserves zero stars. Let me break it down. - We had a group of 13 people. It was reserved in advance; however, our group had to be split up with 9 people sitting at a round table and 4 people sitting at a nearby booth. We were told that it's their policy not to push tables together to accommodate groups larger than 8. - The worst manager in history came over to the table and asked us why we had 9 people sitting at a table designed for 8 even though we were able to comfortably sit at the table. He proceeded to tell us that someone would have to move to another table. He spoke to us in such a demeaning tone. I have never had such a terrible experience with a manager. My friend who was celebrating her birthday had to speak to him privately in order for him to allow us to stay together. - The waitress had difficulty servicing our group. She would leave for long periods of time, and we often had to flag down other wait staff to get our needs met. - While we were determining what to order, we asked the waitress to bring rolls for the table. We were told that rolls are brought to the table AFTER ordering. I assume they think that we would eat the rolls and then roll out. While the food here is really good, I'm so disappointed in the way we were treated. I think the manager needs cultural sensitivity training in addition to more training on customer service. read more

My husband and went here for our 34th anniversary. The hostess, not hospitable a bit, told us 5 minutes and to have a seat. There were every bit of a 90% vacancy of tables. We sat, no problem. After more than 10 minutes and a bunch of waitresses and the hostess having a chat fest, we left. Not sure why we were treated like pond scum. I will never return! They got 6 host staff standing around not greeting guest properly. Came here to try their famous coffee cured steak to see what the hype is about. Meh. Not impressed way too salty. Ordered to-go on a Saturday afternoon. Trio Filet Minion: it is supposed to come with brown sauce and a white sauce for each piece of meat. Both sauces were missing. The last meat item prepared with a Bleu Cheese crust was amazing, as usual. Another disappointment, I'd requested to replace the garlic mashed potatoes with mashed sweet potato casserole. Again, another missing item. I returned and received the two sauces. Along with the meal came two petite asparagus, maybe it was a presentation piece. All in all, the steaks with Bleu cheese and white sauce were delicious and other brown mystery sauce was not the usual for this selection. The creamed spinach also was a hit, in addition to the pork chop (after husband put in broiler to cook more), and the bread. We dine at Stoney River a decent amount and the food is pretty good most of the time but the service is inconsistent. Tonight, unfortunately our server was just absent most of the time, mixed up or forgot orders, and just generally didn't seem to care. There always seems to be a fairly big staff working and tonight was no exception so it's disappointing to have to wait over 30 min before you even see your server to try to flag them down and ask for a drink that they inevitably forget. read more

First time here and it didn't disappoint!! We were celebrating our friend's birthday and she wanted prime rib. We arrived for our reservation and they took us to our table promptly. Our waiter, Hunter, was great, attending to every need and more. The food was absolutely delicious!! Atmosphere, on point!! Dining room was crowded which only stresses that this is a favorite of many. Would have given 5 stars but, the bathrooms needed attention, especially during Covid. My go to dish is the coffee rubbed filet mignon with au gratin potatoes. Their cocktails are tasty and those little bread rolls are delicious. Been waiting a while for this experience. Eaten at Carol Creek , Smashing Grapes & Cantler's along with many other establishments from Fredrick to Fredericksburg Va. This was one of the best, friendly staff and excellent service "Evan" at the bar was spot on like I was in LA or Manhattan at a top spot. Casual but reserved. Great Happy Hour and bar selection. So I've always been a fan of Stoney River Steakhouse but today I was extremely underwhelmed by the lack of customer service. My brother and sister in law made a reservation for our lunch at 3pm. They're told that it's a 40min wait which is no biggie. The 40min wait turns into an hour wait and once we get seated we order our food. After waiting an additional hour and asking our waiter what was taking so long for our food we decided to go head and walk away! It's like we were sat and forgotten about. I probably won't be visiting this establishment ever again. I understand that things can happen when the restaurant is extremely busy but to forget about paying customers is absolutely unacceptable! read more

Decided to go here last minute for my Birthday dinner and it was a good choice! I was recommended by a coworker. The ambiance is classy and clean, a great date spot for a more intimate appeal. We started with a couple of cocktails, the lemon drop mojito and a brown sugar old fashioned. Delicious! It's hard to find a good mojito now a days, combine my two favorite drinks in one and you have a winner. We had the appetizer of deviled eggs and bacon, so delicious, that little bit of bacon on top was packed with flavor and carried the dish. The complimentary bread was sweet, almost like French toast, it was cinnamony and sugary and the butter was also sweet but not overbearing by any means. Then I had the baby back ribs with a side of baked Gouda Mac n cheese. The ribs were tender and they fell right off the bone. Amazing! She had a steak and mashed potato, the serving was huge! We got all this for under $115, for the quality of service and food I believe this price is lower than most which was surprising! I would definitely return. read more

Loaded with Oak and sparkling white table cloths, this place oozes class! My 22oz. Bone-in Ribeye was absolutely mouth watering. The side of Mac and Cheese was just as good.. Cheesy and creamy just like I like it! Extremely reasonably priced, leaves you with an awesome taste in your mouth or was that the fantastic Ribeye I just ate? Hmmm.. I've eaten at this establishment at least 10 times. It's located on the backside of Annapolis Mall. Service has always been great each visit. I've hosted birthday dinners for 10-15 guests at least 3x. I've eaten at the bar a few times with my hubby too. Great appetizers & great menu selection. I also love the in-house brewed sweet tea. I entered from the Mall side and it looked like it was closed since the door was closed but I barged in and one of the cooks said they were open. Mall side is the open kitchen area, which looks impressively clean. Met the waiter and the hostess and they had me seated in no time. I ordered French Onion Soup, the smaller Prime Rib, (ordered rare) Potatoes au Gratin and a sweet tea. Waiter warned me, subtly, that the rare Prime Rib served there might not be the rare I wanted. Fair enough. Soup was good not great and the cup/bowl was almost too big. But I did come close to finishing it so maybe I liked it more than I thought. The fried bread balls were tasty, as well. The smaller Prime Rib was decent sized, a fairly nice cut and it looked good. A nice Choice cut rather than Prime, it would appear. I took a first cut then a deeper cut and it looked closer to medium rare than rare, so the waiter was on point. This may be a Prime Rib thing not a steak thing, but that is what I got. Potato au Gratin was rich, sweet and pretty good. Came in a casserole type square, almost too rich. I had enough Prime Rib and potatoes that I ended up taking home half and I am a pretty big eater. I have been to this restaurant multiple times and enjoyed the service and food. Yesterday evening however was one of their least favorite experience. I group of 7 arrived on time but still waited for about 20 minutes to be seated. There was no waiter for about about 15 minutes but we inquired on our waiter and the waitress serving another jumped in and became our waitress. Everything was so slow and when we finally got our food after 9:40, we were too tired to eat. Most of the table enjoyed the food. My order the jumbo shrimp with salad was just ok. The batter lack seasoning and o e guest ordered a burger that was overcooked and plainly not edible. We celebrated the graduate as best ad possible considering the circumstances but was highly disappointed with the experience and food. read more

This review is specifically for the Annapolis location. A special shoutout is needed for both Char and Kimmie at this location. My wife and I got married on Sunday, July 25, 2021 and we need a great restaurant and a close location with style and atmosphere. We also needed a place to store a two-tier cake on short notice and fit up to 18 people in a room. All of these items were exceeded. We're very thankful for Char for keeping up with all of our demands and keeping in close contact daily as we led up to the day. With all the stressful things that can happen on a wedding day, the staff at the Annapolis location made our day easy and memorable. I highly recommend dining at this location. read more

Took the wife out for her 8th 29th Birthday. Had a 615 reservation, showed up at 6, seated by 610. Staff was extremely courteous and friendly. You could see them making sure that all Covid protocols were being adhered to, and everything was wiped down twice after a table got done. To the food... We started off with the Calamari as an appetizer. On point! The marinara was spiced to perfection to dip the fat pieces of perfectly battered and fried Calamari in. I got the French Dip, which was so tender that it literally just fell apart in your mouth. The wife got the meatloaf which was AMAZING. There was just too much food to finish it all, and we both could barely eat half of our meals, so we definitely have left overs for today!! Birthday dinner for Dad!! I made a dinner reservation for dad's bday, however on the way to restaurant, mom casually asks me, "are we going to have a private room again?" She was referring to the time I reserved a private room at Stoney River for father's day 2014. So by the time we arrived, I promptly (and discreetly) asked the hostess if any private rooms were available. She seemed a little perplexed by my request, but stated that I could get a room, but mentioned it would incur a fee. I asked how much, and said she would have to find out. Upon returning, she was accompanied by a man (presumably a manager?), who did not introduce himself, and sternly said "so..what's the problem?!" I inquisitively repeated the question back to him, confused and surprised by his question and defensive demeanor. The hostess promptly interjected and said to him "oh..oh..there's no problem!" Long story-short, we got the room and the service was phenomenal after all of that. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant, and the hostess came in towards the end of our meal, to check in on us and bring our dessert plates. The food was S-P-E-C-T-A-C-U-L-A-R. For starters, we ordered the crab cake-full of crab meat, the san francisco (spinach) dip-rich and light, and lobster bisque-incredibly flavorful with lots of lobster meat. I then ordered the coffee-cured filet mignon (medium well) with an added crispy lobster tail. My steak knife sliced through that meat like it was butter. It was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Take home lesson: Just pay the $34 for the 9oz steak..and thank me later. The family got a few seafood entrees, which they claimed was delicious. Overall, it was a lovely dinner in celebration of my dad. Highly recommend coming here!! The service was great. I also highly recommend getting a private room for a more focused and intimate dining experience. However, I would suggest that the manager (?) at least set a better example for his staff, because his attitude was completely unnecessary (and unprofessional)...but hey..maybe he was having a bad day ;) read more

I couldn't be more pleased with my experience at Stoney River on NYE. The restaurant was very busy but we were seated pretty much right at our reservation time (we arrived a little early but didn't expect to get in early). Our server was very nice (could've been more attentive but I'm definitely letting it slide considering it was NYE). We ordered the shrimp appetizer which was very good. The house salads are excellent and a lot bigger than expected. For my main entree I ordered the petite filet mignon was cooked to perfection, it comes with your choice of one potato side and I chose the caramelized onion mashed potatoes. The onions were unfortunately burnt but everything else was delicious. I also got a side of creamed spinach and the flavor was excellent. If you're choosing between this location and the Towson location, I would highly recommend the Annapolis location over Towson. Service is much better here and the interior is much nicer in my opinion. read more

After a very long day of driving, I got off the highway to find a place for dinner. It was 9:30 PM on a thundering Saturday night and many places were closing up. I headed over to the Westfield mall to see which restaurants were still open. I didn't care for burgers and BBQ, but then I saw a steak place called Stoney River Legendary Steaks, with its own exterior entrance, still open until 10:30PM. I felt I deserved a nice dinner to end the long day after driving over 500 miles, starting from Albany NY at 6AM and running around Atlantic City, Baltimore, and DC, all in the same day/night. I walked in and I asked if dinner was still being served and yes it was. I was asked what was the special occasion (just traveling) and I was seated at a C-shaped booth in the main dining room, which has the setting of a mountain lodge with dim lighting, high ceilings, active fireplace, paintings on the wall, and canoe hanging over near the open kitchen. There's booth seating (no table cloth) along the walls, table seating (table cloths) and lounge sofa seating in the center of the room. All tables had candlelight and swing music was playing from the speakers setting for a good relaxed atmosphere. There's also a bar in the front and a private dining room. Okay, the food. Stoney River is open for lunch and dinner serving steaks, seafood, chicken, and more. See the menu offerings at http://www.stoneyriver.com Lunch is served until 4:00 PM offering sandwiches, salads, soups, and lunch entrees. Dinner is served after 4:00 PM. Full wine list in the menu. You can order some dinner entrees at lunch, but no lunch entrees during dinner. The prices are on the pricey side, most dinner entrees in the $21.99-$37.99 range, similar to Fleming's prices, which I had two weeks ago on the other coast. Lunch entree salads are $11.99-$15.99, appetizers are $9.99-$13.99 and desserts are $8.99-$11.99. With the high prices charged, I was hoping the food was going to be exceptional with freshness, quality and taste and great service to match. I was asked for some ice water with lemon and skipped the wine. My server Cliff (a very popular team member) went over the menu and specials and mentioned a Pecan Encrusted Swordfish served with caramelized mashed potatoes and broccoli was a special. This sounded so good that I decided on the Swordfish ($27.99). The managing partner Jay came over to introduce himself after I was noting a select few pages of the menu for an accurate Yelp. It was mighty dim in the there. I gave out a YOU'VE BEEN YELPED card, and briefly explained how Yelp works. They have been Yelped 8 times already. I was given business cards from Jay and Cliff. While my dinner was being prepped, I was brought out a complementary basket of Stoney River fried dough balls with sweet cinnamon honey butter. The fried dough with the sweet butter melts in your mouth and I was offered more, which I happily accepted. The kitchen activity was busy and it was awesome to see the big flames shooting off the grill from my seat. The food arrived in 15 minutes after ordering. The pecan encrusted swordfish was excellent, very tender and juicy inside, with great flavors and the best I've had in a very long time! The chunky mashed potatoes were enhanced with the sweet taste of the caramelized onions. Definitely the right choice! There was also applause from the kitchen and front of the house staff as they finished dinner service at 10:30 PM, and I did not see any "Chef Ramsay-like" outbursts tonight, hehe. For dessert, I decided on the Cappuccino Crème Brulee ($9.99) with candied cinnamon pecans and topped with strawberry, which was large enough for two people to share. The crème brulee had the custard texture with the sweet cappuccino taste. I was asked if I wanted coffee, but I was too wired from enough caffeine. Overall, the dinner was great from start to finish. The food I had was very unique. Instead of hot rolls or bread (ho-hum), Stoney River fried dough balls with sweet butter is given. Instead of the typical grilled swordfish with basic potatoes, the food was enhanced with pecans and caramelized onions, respectively. The cappuccino crème brulee with pecans was not the typical crème brulee I've had many times over. The service was professional with several refills on ice water, more fried dough and butter, and timely delivery of the food. As I was leaving, I was given a lunch and dinner menu placard and if I was in the area, to call ahead and come back in. I would more often for special occasions such as a birthday or "new career change", but there are no Stoney River locations in NH. We do have Buckley's Great Steaks and the Hanover Street Chophouse, both 5 stars in the Manchester, NH area. The manager took off into the night with the bass pumping. The night was just getting started! NOTE: The management and staff knowing that I was doing a review did not affect this 5 star rating. The uniqueness made the difference. read more

I dined here this past Saturday night. Service was impeccable and our server (I think his name was John? He was blonde and fairly tall) was very good about refilling our drinks and keeping us updated on our food. Now the food. We have dined here several times before and never had anything bad to say but this time, the food wasn't as good as it was before. I don't know if the chef was new or having an off day but we ordered the same thing we get every time and this time it wasn't as good. I ordered a 16oz prime rib med rare and the steak was 1) cut way too thick, prime rib is only supposed to be cut maybe an inch in thickness whereas this was probably over double that 2) wasn't as juicy and tender as it has been previously. The baked potato was slightly undercooked. It was still pretty good and I ate my food happily, but I'd be remiss if I didn't say anything. read more

This place never disappoints. The prime rib is so tender and the donut rolls are...well..dangerous..Eat cautiously as your taste buds may be provoked into demanding more thereby creating raging hips.
