Definitely my new favorite restaurant - Stoney River continues to outdo themselves time and time again. My boyfriend and I went this past weekend (third time going overall), the ambiance is incredible, nice low lighting, candles in the tables, they have the fireplace going. And anyone can eat there, kids, families, couples, etc. Shoutout to our amazing waiter Kevin! Was super helpful in recommending us their new holiday drinks (which were incredible) and side dishes. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Incredible, incredible food. Everything is homemade, if they run out of something, they're out! So it's nice to know everything coming out of their kitchen is fresh. I ordered the prime rib with garlic parmesan fries and gouda mac. My boyfriend ordered their cowboy cut steak with au gratin (scalloped) potatoes. We also shared a wedge salad and crab cake. ALSO, their rolls are to die for plus it comes with the cinnamon butter?! The service was on par with smiles from the minute we walked in and the food was delicious starting with the bread to the appetizers to the steaks to the dessert. This place use to be great when it first opened. I don't think there is anyone who can cook a steak there anymore. Every time I go it is never cooked as ordered. I order medium. It always comes out rare and then has to go back and then back again. This past Friday I tried the lobster roll although the waitress did say it has had mixed reviews. I took two bits and it tasted fishy. Not like lobster should taste. I sent it back and ended up ordering a filet that again couldn't be cooked properly. I have been sick since 2am with food poisoning from those two bites of bad lobster. Beyond pissed about this experience. Love the atmosphere but they need people who can cook. The max is eight people per party but they did accommodate my large group of 15. The waitress was very pleasant and she was very attentive. Let's start with the rolls and the honey butter with Poopie seeds. Melt in your mouth like funnel cake or a hot donut. I ordered the filet medium well it was like butter and so thick 10oz and I got macc and cheese w it that was good too. The salad was huge also. Never again Wedge salad came out covered in onions of which there is no mention on the menu. Im allergic and I was given attitude when I sent it back. The service was implacable, our server Chloe was very professional she knew the menu well, she made sure that we were good without standing over us. In the current time of less than stellar customer service we finally got the perfect meal at a wonderful restaurant with impeccable service. I'm not a big salad fan, but their house salad was a colorful array of tastes. The filet was absolutely to die for. After having had several weeks of so-so steaks I was cautiously optimistic. It was blow away the best filet I can remember. I was warned that the carrot cake for desert was "a large portion". I never would have believed the size. I'll be eating carrot cake for the next week. There was a 45 minute wait. I am sure do to COVID-19 and its restrictions. So I decided to go to the mall to bypass time. The wait ended up being longer than stated instead of 45mins it was maybe a 1hr and 15mins however it was well worth it! I forgot how good Stoney River was! I went years ago and had the whiskey shrimp on toast it was really delicious so I was delighted to see they still had it on the menu! I ordered it again this time! It was better than before. The sauce was so tasty. I am not a huge fan of calamari, this dish was fried so perfectly and tasted fresh & good. I ordered the ribeye and asparagus for my entree! The streak was flavorful, tender and delicious! The asparagus was bland but nothing a little salt and pepper couldn't fix. I remembered how good the bread was when I left. I forgot to ask for some because I already knew what I wanted, so I ordered as soon as i sat down. I got 2 drinks a lemon drop mojito and a regular lemon drop. The mojito was ok, way too much ice and too sweet. The lemon drop martini was way better so I will stick to that in the future because I will be back! read more

This restaurant is great, especially for special occasions. It's a bit pricey but well worth it. It's become an annual tradition to eat there for our anniversary. This year we tried brunch and it was still amazing. The menu was different but delicious. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable and we enjoyed just eating at the bar. It's quiet in the morning, which we enjoy, but it can get busy for dinner service. Overall a great place to go for brunch, lunch or dinner. It gives you a high end feeling without being too pretentious. My husband loves the coffee crusted filet. If you want good steak, I highly recommend this restaurant! read more

I absolutely love this place! Went twice in three weeks. We went for Valentine's Day and then to celebrate a special birthday. I got the lemon chicken caper dish- 20$. I know it's a steak house but this was recommended and it was awesome. Everyone loved their steaks too. The salad was delicious and my Cosmo was perfecto. Can't wait to go back. Great atmosphere. This was my second trip to Stoney River, my first was pre-covid and this was my first visit post. Overall, not much has changed, great steaks, good wine selection, and a pretty traditional menu for a steakhouse. Both times I've eaten at the bar. Post-covid the servers are all wearing masks, but there isn't really any social distancing, especially at the bar which was packed. The service has also changed, but it seems like it's the same as anywhere else, the serving staff just seemed understaffed for a busy weekend night. Hey, pay them more, offer some benefits, I don't know. I'll pay more for a steak if it means happy and well-cared-for staff. A rising tide lifts all boats right? Next time I'm in the area I'll absolutely return, and I hope to see they're able to increase staffing to meet a more upscale dining expectation. read more

Have to say that we have been meaning to try this spot out for quite some time. Having eaten in the other two Towson Mall Restaurants several times . Let's begin with the entrance, we were greeted by a bevy of Host types and were quickly seated at our Reserved Table. The Menu is pretty straight forward with many of the usual suspects that you would expect to find at a Steakhouse. We opted for the warm Spinach Dip that was quite frankly AWESOME. It was perfectly seasoned and the Dip was on point. Perhaps if the Tortillas chips had been warmer it would have been even better. My 10 oz Fillet Mignon had an almost lacquered caramelized on the outside. Contrasting to the center of the Steak that was a perfect warm pink . A side of Béarnaise and whipped potatoes with an Onion Confit was just amazing. My wife opted for the Traditional French Onion Soup, and a half dozen of the Best Deviled Eggs in Baltimore County. Our Service was top notch and we were checked in on by a manager who hovered from table to table asking everyone how their experience was going. All in all I certainly regret that it took us so long to give this place a try, as I have a strong feeling that it will quickly become our go to Neighborhood Steak House. read more

This was a pretty good place. We had the steak rolls, which desperately needed salt. The lobster bisque which was amazing. The Caesar salad was spot on but it seemed like some of the lettuce was wilted. The Parmesan fries were ok, but they were severely over cooked. As for the meals, the steaks were done very nicely. The mashed potatoes were nice and creamy. The ribs were good as well and the baked potatoes were just as you would expect a baked potato to be. I would say that I don't feel it was necessarily worth the price. Maybe if it were $5-7 cheaper for the entree's, I wouldn't have a complaint but for the size and how everything was done, no. I am generally a fan of this place and this visit did not disappoint. We started with some spinach dip and chips. This was pretty good spinach dip. A large quantity for sharing and the chips were fresh and simply perfect for dipping. My wife and I shared the 16oz cut if Prime Rib with a side of creamed spinach and a side of au gratin potatoes. We each had our own house salad as were have different dressing preferences. On the salads, it is a good house salad and is frankly a bit large for a side salad. I will say that while the salad is topped well with bacon, egg, etc, it was horribly light on dressing. I would have just asked for more if our server was ever around. The Prime Ron was served and it was some of the best PR I have ever had and I am admittedly very critical of bad PR. This was perfectly consistent from edge to center and was tender all the way through. Just an exceptional preparation. The creamed spinach was very good but the au gratin potatoes, meh. I would not order them again. This was a three star review as the service was port. Our yippy little teenager couldn't remember things from one moment to the next, took way too long to check and fill drinks. My wife and I ordered to more glasses of wine halfway through our entree and one showed up after we were done and I told the lady (not our server) that we ordered two. She said she would check on the other. Never saw her again or our server until he brought the check. He could have turned a great review south because he has no business serving in this level of restaurant. I am thinking, McDonald's. Pricey with small portions. The French Onion soup was terrible. When it came to the table my friend and I both said "what is that bad smell ". I held the soup up and the smell was the melted Gruyère cheese on the top. It smelled so bad that I spooned it off the top. I was so excited to dig in, but after a bite, I did not feel the sparks. It was VERY OILY, and felt lackluster with the flavor. To me it just tasted like every other meat. I ordered mushroom madeira to accompany the steak, but even that did not give it spark. The whole order just felt very heavy to me, and that was probably most likely due to it being very oily. After the dinner experience, I could just feel my throat covered with oil. In addition, me and my friends ordered a side of their gouda mac & cheese. This was definitely one of my favorite mac & cheeses (I really love gouda lol). It was thick and creamy and just well-seasoned, so definitely a recommend. We've been twice and have loved each time, the atmosphere is so relaxing. The place is beautifully decorated and the bathrooms are nice and clean. It feels like this place should have a dress code because of its fancy feel. The menu is short but filled with delicious meals. Yesterday I had a tequila mocking bird mixed drink and it was perfect.
