This place used to be amazing! Year after year it declines, yet the prices go up. My wife and I wanted to have a nice dinner here, before she goes out of the country. We reserved a table a week ago, requested a booth in the notes. We arrived to an overcrowded restaurant with no where to stand or sit. We waited 45 minutes after our reservation, only to be sat in a party room, that had 3 tables split up. You couldn't even see the restaurant, just the 2 tables around us and 3 walls. What a terrible place to sit! The whole ambiance of the place was lost. Both of us kind of lost interest in eating here, and decided to leave. I'm sure the food would have been good, but I'm not paying $150+ to sit here. I attempted to vent for about a minute up front, but that was a waste of time. The guy I talked to was looking at a computer the whole time I talked, I just left. Waste of breath, and clearly this place was overbooked and didn't care. I'm not sure I'll return to this location, I think we'll try Annapolis instead. Parking was always terrible here anyway, and clearly it's not worth the headache. I would have highly recommended this place 5 years ago, but not now. The only redeeming factor was that the waitress was sweet. So disappointing! Ordered for delivery and Stoney River Towson continues to fail. I give up. They aren't cheap, but worth it, IF you get all you ordered, which is consistently NOT the case. Ordered a burger...NO fries, NO side of sauce requested. Why do they ask you, if they continually fail to include. And that $9.69 side of broccoli literally had 3 small spears in it. Complained about the parmesan fires missing, side costs $9, but only credited $5.69. They can keep it, along with ALL the other food they forget to include. I do not recommend dinning here. I admit my visit was during a peak time. Service was inattentive and extremely slow. As a result, my party of 6 had to make special requests for water, bread, and updates on the status of our food which took over an hour to be prepared. I ordered a center cut fillet, medium cooked and this is what arrived (looks like a hamburger). I did not consume. We also, unfortunately, never received (but was charged) all items ordered. For a more high-end steakhouse, I was extremely disappointed. The worst part of it was ordering a $47 medium rare 10 oz. filet that came out almost medium well (photo attached). The ironic part is on the menu it specifically says "we do not recommend and will respectfully not guarantee any meat ordered medium well or above". I normally would send back, but it already took a while, it was late, and I wanted to eat at the same time as my family. In addition, I ordered a side Caesar to come out first, and it came out warm and soggy with the steak. It had obviously been sitting in the kitchen and the server forgot to bring it out. The fries were also soggy and pretty tasteless. All in all, a very nice place but insanely overpriced for the quality of the food. This was my first visit to Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill. Though I have visited other restaurants in Towson Town Center and greater Towson many times, this was the last one to experience. My daughter raved about her visits but I still never tried it. Since it was her birthday, I thought it would be one of the options to consider. Out of five other restaurant choices throughout Maryland and DC, we finally decided that this would be the place. From the moment that we entered, I liked the ambiance. A nice atmosphere is always important. Though it is located in the mall alongside two other popular restaurants, this one gave me a little more refinement in comparison to the other two. Please do not get me wrong, I love the other two restaurants but it was something about this one that was just a little different. Perhaps, I sensed this because it is not as overexposed as the other two. This is just my opinion. The lighting was right and the soft holiday music playing in the background was enjoyable and season appropriate. The tables were wooden without tablecloths but that was fine. We were seated not too far from the bar but nestled cosily in a less traveled part of the restaurant, which meant that we did not have a lot of traffic walking by our table. I am so happy about that. Once seated, the waiter came over immediately to greet us and take our order, which was great. I had not eaten since earlier in the day, so I was more than ready to partake in this meal. We ordered our usual drinks and agreed that we would like some bread. Oh my, this was some of the most delicious bread I have ever tasted. One little question that I would like to ask is why is it that some restaurants bring an odd number of bread that is not commensurate with the number of people at the table? It would seem that you would bring an even number of bread but I guess that's just me. Perhaps, it is restaurant policy. Nevertheless, it was delicious. The bread alone deserves another paragraph. Copelands and Hops were two other restaurants formerly in the area that had some rave worthy bread. I love bread. I love homemade bread. This bread reminded me of a donut hole from a local coffee shop in presentation with all of the flavor and goodness of a donut from another local donut shop minus the sweetness. Alone the bread appeared a tad bit savory but once the butter was added, it had some sweetness and maybe cinnamon flavor. It appears that they ration the bread but as good as it is, I can understand why. Since the grilled salmon was highly recommended by my daughter that is what I selected. I decided on the standard sides, which were sautéed spinach and jasmine rice. I added the Burgundy button mushrooms just because I love mushrooms. I was pleasantly pleased with the meal overall. This is a pretty typical meal that I regularly prepare at home, so I could not go wrong with this choice. The mushrooms were perfect in flavor, texture and presentation. The sautéed spinach was good but it did not have a lot of flavor for my taste. The jasmine rice was good and nicely steamed. In my opinion, it too lacked flavor but it was good. Finally, the salmon was good, it just lacked a little flavor. It was nicely cooked though. I definitely could have eaten it without added sauce, however, my daughter mentioned that she usually has sauce with her grilled salmon. We asked for the sweet and sour sauce, which added some depth of flavor to the fish. It definitely presented like a healthy meal in appearance and taste. I just like my food to have big bold flavors. Next time, I'll add some chimichurri sauce to see if that brings up the flavor a little more. Overall, it was a good meal. It was a nice portion and it was filling. Thank you because that is so important. The meal ended with a complimentary piece of chocolate cake for my daughter's birthday. It presented complete with some of the most decadent chocolate cake that I have ever tasted. Chocolate cake is not my typical go to dessert but this was such a dense fudge like cake yet moist in texture. It was topped with fresh whipped cream, a sprig of mint, a fresh sliced strawberry, a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and some chocolate sauce. It was elegant in presentation and not only that, it was quite delicious. My dessert fork was dirty but I remedied that by keeping my dinner fork. Last, but certainly not least, we had an attentive waiter, who visited our table enough but not too much and not too little. The manager also visited our table to see if everything was okay and to extend his services if we needed anything during the visit. It was a nice mid-meal touch. When asked if there were specials, he provided and made recommendations on a appetizer. The appetizers came in a timely manner and good; whiskey shrimp toast and calamari. Our meals came quickly and tasty; the grouper served roasted garlic potatoes and changed broccoli to Caesar salad and friend had the Cowboys steak, baked potato and broccoli. The worst, most disappointing meal I've had in a long time...especially from a place that claims they serve "legendary steaks." I enjoy spending time at Towson Town Center and it would be great to have a go-to steak restaurant but this isn't the spot. I was underwhelmed. No wonder I never hear anyone mention this place. The service was good and they have a pleasant ambiance that I like better than say Capital Grill. It's also in a good location in the Pottery Barn/Crate and Barrel wing of the mall but that's where my positive review ends. We were there for a financial presentation and the dinner was free. Food was good as was the service. We waited at the bar for a few minutes and ordered two drinks before going into our presentation. It took a bit longer than I expected for two glasses of wine. I had noticed three women waiting for their drinks as well. They had more patience than I would have. Great Ambiance but the food quality has gone down hill. Visited this location yesterday with my family and experienced great service but sub par food. For instance, the salmon was over cooked (dry and chewy), the broccoli was hard and tasted almost raw, and my husband ordered the bistro chicken and it tasted like we were eating at the Cheesecake Factory. Needless to say, it was not the quality food we expected from Stoney River. The one thing we all enjoyed was the lobster bisque, which was delicious. I will start off by saying the food is very good. We arrived at 7pm last night and the restaurant was not very busy. Service was very poor. Our waitress was very friendly, however she was not attentive at all. We had to flag her down for drink refills after not seeing her for over 20 minutes. We had to flag her down for our check and she never returned after giving us the bill, luckily I had cash. I really enjoyed the food but I will not return to this location. However, today I sat at the bar table top and an employee was sitting right behind me listening to her phone, instagram, and social at the absolute max. I notified the hostess of the situation because I honesty could not hear the person I came to talk to, and to my absolute surprise, she goes over your to the young lady/ employee and tell her, "the woman behind you complained about your music can you turn it down? ". In complete and utter shock I thought, well darn I could have done that myself.. I'm writing this review on behalf of my daughter and co-workers. They had a business dinner last night and pretty bad. My daughter ordered the filet and asked for medium. It came out well done and salty as could be. The broccoli hadn't had the stalks trimmed and were chewy. Mac and cheese pretty bad. For dessert they brought one slice of cheesecake and one slice of chocolate cake for six people to share. The waiters were lacking possibly because they knew they were getting tipped from such a large party. Visited here for Easter dinner with the family. We've heard great things so decided to try it out for ourselves. Atmosphere is EVERYTHING! Whit tablecloth setting without the price tag! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they were out of the steak and biscuits and our server was a bit slow. The dinner rolls are by far some of the best little clouds of heaven on this side of earth! The honey butter they serve it with is to die for! Everything is super salty like they have no budget no salt. :( but I read many reviews and nobody has mentioned anything about the food being salty so maybe it's just me :( We ordered a spinach dip and onion soup as appetizer, ribeye, medallions and crab cake , and fried shrimp as main course. Everything was tooo salty except for the sautéed spinach that came with the shrimp; that was soooo salty it literally tasted bitter. This quickly became my favorite steakhouse in Towson. I was skeptical because it's attached to the mall but my boyfriend insisted. I got the steak salad which was perfect- it has all the benefits of the steak but none of the guilt that the unhealthy sides leave you with. My only advice would be to get the dressing on the side because it comes with a lot. We got the tuna stack as an appetizer. The ahí tuna is AMAZING. Some of the best I've had in the area. This place is becoming one of our faves. They have both higher end items and bar food. The prime rib is delicious, but personally I feel quality depends on the time you go in. The staff is always nice and present well, and the kitchen seems like to work like a well oiled machine; all the food was delicious and hot and we were not rushed between appetizers and entrees. I was conflicted with only giving two stars because the staff was very helpful. The manager Lauren was extremely nice and listened to our feedback. Our server T was great as well. On to the food! So we started off slightly bad. Our deviled eggs were extremely dry in the center and the other layer appeared as if it was sitting for a period of time exposed to air. The other yolk was hard. The manager did bring over a second one. It was slightly better but still dry in the center and lacked flavor. It seemed as if it needed more mayo and mustard in the yolk. We ended up not finishing those. She did recommend the steak rolls which came out so hot and fresh! They tasted amazing its a must try. We both ordered filets with came out medium rare and not medium so both had to go back. I knew as soon as I tapped the center of the Filet that it was rare in the middle. I always order filet so I'm use to it. What ruined the night for me was the mouse that ran across the floor in front of my table. Our focus was more on the mouse at that point then enjoying ourselves. We instantly told the waiter that we needed to leave. If it wasn't for the mouse I would have definitely gave this location another chance. I've seen mice before just never while in a restaurant eating my meal. Again thank you to the managers and staff. We keep coming back here because the food and service is consistent. The ambiance is very nice. I was surprised they had the fireplace going which made for a cozy evening. My favorite salad to start with is the wedge. The portion was large, so much so I took half home for lunch the next day. I got the coffee marinated filet of beef. I ordered it medium and had to send it back for a little more pink and less red. The steak was tender and the mashed potatoes with carmelized onions were phenomenal. I love FOOD AND DRINKS when I go to happy hour and this place is really only good for drinks. $5 for almost any well drink and the liquor selections are on point. Because the food options on HH were minimal, I ordered the deviled eggs (super good), but I was still hungry. I asked my awesome server, Liz, about the Salmon (because I don't eat steak). Her opinion was on point! It was super delicious! And I got the sauce on the side, which was very good as well. The wine list contains no vintages and the selection is limited to California wines and maybe one or two Oregon wines. The one French wine was out of stock and the list, a simple printed out affair, wasn't updated. My Calamari was good. Tender and not rubbery. My Prime Rib came out way too quickly almost as if it was someone else's steak that was unwanted. I sent it back so I could digest a bit and enjoy my sparkling wine. The service was affable but seemed inexperienced. They had one Port, a 30 year Tawny but no Rubies which was disappointing. My husband and I did not even leave the mall and our credit card company called us because we had hundreds of dollars in fraudulent charges. We only used that card for dinner!!! My husband went on Yelp and made immediate reservations. When we went back in to check in with a reservation, the hostess was so unprofessional and may have just laid on the floor and had a tantrum.
