I made a last minute reservation at Stoney River - we showed up a little early and ended up finding seating at the bar. Kevin, our bartender, was attentive, courteous, and friendly. I made a reservation three weeks ago over the phone with a young man there for my girlfriend's birthday dinner last night. I was never told to make sure I received a confirmation text, so imagine our surprise when upon arrival the hostess said I was not in the system. Even though I produced the text I had sent to my friends confirming the reservation, she made us wait for a half hour, while she sat other parties, until a walk-in table became available. She was completely dismissive and had no regard whatsoever for their mistake. Then our server said she'd make it right, but she was not only very very slow, but offered absolutely nothing, not even for the birthday girl. Not sure if that was her decision, or the management's policy. Although our steaks were delicious, the service was terrible, we felt like cattle in a cattle yard, they couldn't have cared less, and my friends and I agree not to return there again. Terrible experience at Stoney River on Christmas Eve. We were seated as soon as we arrived, given a window booth and were hoping for a nice meal. It turned out to be a disaster. We ordered an appetizer immediately because we already knew what we wanted-the Whiskey Shrimp. Fifteen minutes later we ordered soup and entrees, but still hadn't received our app. The soup comes and then 5 minutes later our appetizer shows up. No apology, explanation, etc. Two minutes later, our entrees arrive to a now very full table with no room to move. Most of the food got cold as we tried to eat some of each as quickly as we could. We never received steak knives so tried to cut our steak with butter knives. Our server never checked on us, brought us the knives, cleared any dirty plates from the table, etc. The food was OK but nowhere near the quality you'll get at most other steakhouses. The béarnaise sauce was like an oily yellow sauce with little flavor. Forgot the cream maybe? Disgusting nonetheless. The server drops off the check exactly one hour after we arrived and still didn't clear anything from the table so we would have room to sign the bill. First time there yesterday. Heard the food was good so we went to check it out. There was a wait for a table so we just sat at the bar. We ordered the Wedge Salad, it was good. Brussel Sprouts were excellent, Creamed Spinach - delicious! The problem...three female bartenders who were not friendly, not welcoming, didn't check on the quality of our food and basically ignored us. We attempted to go out to eat with our friends yesterday to Stoney River, which is one of our winter Sunday regulars. However there was a different manager (Veronica) than usual, and she refused to accommodate us. It was us, and two other families. We have 4 kids and they each have 3 kids. We take our kids out regularly, and they know how to behave in a restaurant atmosphere, same as our friends. Well needless to say the restaurant was approx 25% full, and we only asked to be seated in the general area. We understand you can't always make that large of a table. The manager refused, citing that every booth in the restaurant was under reservation at 5pm. Even though this was before 4pm. I even went as far as suggesting smaller booths and splitting up, and she would still not accommodate. In the end one of our friends ended up staying because their kids were sleeping. We went down the road to Sedona, which accommodated us with a restaurant that was 70% filled, no issues and great service. Meanwhile our friends that stayed at Stoney River, were there till almost 6 pm. And to no surprise, no one showed up for the their reservations!! Imagine that... The large table was eventually filled, but the 3 large booths we asked for were never filled. In my opinion the manager didn't want to accommodate us because we had children and pre judged us, without knowing anything about us. Her pompous attitude and obvious lies were very upsetting, and if we are to expect experiences like this, we will not be going back. We take our kids wherever we go, even to higher end restaurants on the same road and are never treated like that! read more

For the price range and local competition they need to step up their service. Went here on New Year's Eve and was able to get seated immediately however we had multiple servers who didn't communicate with each other. They forgot our appetizer and brought it out after we got our main dish. Had to ask multiple times for drinks. They brought a pitcher of water for the table but no glasses and had to ask for them multiple times. Then the bill arrived nothing was done until we asked a manager to compensate for all the service issues. Took my mother out for her 60th birthday today. Was greeted by somebody at the door after waiting a couple minutes and was told we could seat ourselves near the bar as he took a incoming phone call. The bartender got to us in a timely manner and had my glass of wine over quick. I was told our server was going to be over momentarily. She was not. We waited a whole 20 minutes no exaggeration to be greeted by her without any apology or explanation. As you would expect we were ready to order and did. I ordered a spinach dip as an app, a steak and another glass of wine. The rest of the party of 4 ordered entrees as well. As an experienced service industry worker and current floor manager I know if there was any confusion with sections or whatever it may have been causing a table to sit without service for an absurd amount of time an apology would of course be given and on top of it service be as well. 10 more minutes passed before seeing our server without the single glass of wine that was sitting on the service bar for approximately 8 mins. To cut this story short the single appetizer took 25 mins after ordering entrees just under an hour and what I would of liked to be a quick lunch outing took well over 2 hours. Also was short changed on my bill although it was only a couple dollars it left an even worse taste in my then there already have been. Ribeye was cooked medium and ordered medium rare but was still very good filet was cooked perfect. Overall food was very solid but everything else was not satisfactory and I will not being giving this place my business again. There is to many places in Troy that have this level of food that provide a much better experience then I have had today. read more

This is definitely one of the best steakhouses in town. Everything we ordered was AMAZING. Our steak egg rolls were superb, my husband's prime rib was cooked to perfection and my sea bass was phenomenal. Our service was top notch and the icing on the cake was the restaurant manager Veronica. I have never seen a manager so passionate about what she does. That's why our experience here was perfect. Stop playing....really....steak buttery biscuit sliders....really? I was soooo ready not to like this place another steak house but not prepared to looooove my steak. The bread basket is a fete in itself airy, pillowy, buttery. The steak was cooked AND seasoned to perfection. But the Best Bite Award goes to: Steak Biscuit Sliders. Oh and did I mention, I hate biscuits? But would curl up in a bed with these sliders and rock myself to sleep. Went here for the first time with a friend recently and really liked it. Great interior decor, quickly seated (had a reservation) and the food and drinks were great. My only complaint, was that our server was a bit....overly attentive... By this I mean, he came by and interrupted my friend and I so many times that it actually became annoying to us. I mean, if someone says they need a little more time to review the menu, dont come back every 2 minutes and ask if we are ready yet. Mind you, he wasnt acting pushy, it was just still annoying. I think a good server should be able to read their customers. My friend and I were clearly chatting a lot and didnt need a TON of attention. The place was not packed so they did not need to turn our table so leave us alone and let us enjoy ourselves without bothering us so much. I was so upset after leaving this restaurant because I forgot to take my leftovers home!!! I had the steak frites, but with a baked potato. I know, don't judge! The steak was full of flavor and the baked potato was steaming hot for several minutes. I also had the wedge salad with ranch dressing, and it was absolutely divine. I think I filled up on too much salad, which is why I was bummed about leaving my leftovers. I did, however, have room for dessert - creme brulee. It was amazing as well. Love this place! The food is a bit rich, but great. The rolls boarder on a donut flavor with the delicious sweet butter spread. The portions are particularly huge, an entree could be easily split or a good portion saved and brought home. Romantic and cool atmosphere and excellent service. Disallowed service due to my disability ... so if you go in in a wheelchair, or with a breathing apparatus, or even on crutches, expect to be treated badly and refused entry since they have no respect for the disabled. The girl at the front counter was really rude, after asking for main dining room they tried to set us along the window, the service was slow, and my wife's order was wrong. The hostesses would not seat us, saying that they were waiting for those with reservations. We understood and waited, even though we knew they closed a 9 pm. We came here on a Sunday around 5:30 without a reservation and it was fairly easy to get seated. It's a family oriented place with lots of kids running around. I though it would be more upscale but it's got a casual vibe too. We sat at a booth. My waitress was really great and on top of things. I ordered coffee bc I needed that pick me up. I was torn btwn the special and the seabass but the waitress convinced me to go with the seabass. My friend ordered the salmon, lobster bisque soup, and a cappuccino. The food overall was good. My seabass was excellent. I like the spot but I did expect "more", not sure what "more" is but something that is different from every other restaurant that I've been to. This place is simply amazing. My husband and I started off with the deviled eggs. Boy were those tasty! Next my husband had the tortilla soup and I had the tomato mozzarella salad. He didn't love the soup, wished it had more crunches and cheese. I loved loved that salad and the fact it came with super thin and crunchy onion rings. My husband had the three petite filets and I had the coffee filet and we each got the au gratin potato's. My husband enjoyed his steak and potatoes. My coffee filet is probably one of my favorite meals I've ever had! Our server was knowledgeable about the items and what paired well. I am honestly very disappointed in the way Stoney River conducts business. Please allow me to elaborate. We were eager to try out Stoney River for one of our corporate lunches. We wanted to place an order for 9 people. The office manager called the day before we were scheduled to have our lunch and asked how long in advance we should place our order the day of. After being transferred to a manager because the hostess that picked up the phone didn't know how to answer that question, our officer manager was told that she would have to come in and place the order at the bar area, that they do not take phone or fax orders. This seems absurd. We have corporate lunches all the time and have never experienced this. We thought maybe this was a mistake, maybe a miscommunication on our part or theirs. So, we called Stoney River the day of our scheduled lunch and sure enough, the same was confirmed. It is such an inconvenience to make someone go in to place a large order and make them wait 45 minutes to an hour while you prep the food. For being a new restaurant in a saturated area, you would think one would be more accommodating and understanding that we have a business to run. Needless to say, Stoney River lost our business, as a firm and individually. read more

Absolutely every single thing we ate was wonderful! Pricey (prob $$$) but well worth it!
