    Burnt Crunchy Begal

I work at the Goodwill close by, I walk in ASUSUAL today, and the boss, or atleast thats what i like to call his seems off, didnt mind as much, till he has someone else do the begal i ordered from him, I ask the girl whos attending me now, for a little bit extra cream cheese and she charging me for an extra dollar, mind you im on my last CENTS, n she still asking for more when its usually 3.25 with cash 3.75 with tap, so i say thats new they dont usually ask me to pay more, so she still adds the cream cheese but when serving it she rolled it so quick, leaving right after, as i take a bite the begal is all burnt, and w barely any cream cheese, kinda upset when i could go anywhere else with my money but i went here and get treated like this with the little i have, wont be stopping by anymore.

Green chili and pork tamale with a mint green tea

They have a great selection of tamales here! I like the pork and green chili the best but the chicken came in close. There's also plenty of blended drink options - the mint green tea without whip cream is my go to. The donuts are fluffy - even the maple old fashioned which is my favorite.

If you like donut stores that smell like a porta potty on the outside, then this is the donut shop for you! It's in a terrible part of Reseda, and looks run down. But the donuts? Bangin'.

Best donuts in the valley. Fresh, good size and classic taste. This place has been around longer than I have and always add new things like tamales and now have THE ABSOLUTE BEST MOCHI DONUTS I HAVE EVER TRIED. I went to so many places and nothing compares to the mochi donuts here. They are so chewy and perfect without being doughy or heavy. I would highly recommend trying this place. I always buy my dozen donuts from here anytime I need to take it as a gift anywhere and people always finish up the whole box.

Got a fruit tart 1/2 sheet (it's huge) enough for 20+ people.

The fruit was fresh. This was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. I highly recommend. The mochi donut was also great! The service was also good.

We were in the area for the cicLAvia bicycle event and we made a pitstop at this shop. My girl bought her favorite which is the maple donut and it was very good. It was a bit dry but still had a good taste without being overly sweetened.

The BEST fruit tart cake in Valley.

This location is so cute, its tucked into a small shopping center on Reseda and Vanowen and I love how decorated the shop as well, its consistent as well with their other locations and there was plenty of parking but I do see that parking lot can get congested since theres an El Pollo Loco drive thru and a 7/11. Walked in around 11am today and was instantly greeted and they have kiosk available but the gentleman behind the counter said he could assist me when I was ready. I ordered a drink from their summer menu the cherry vanilla latte iced, its bomb and next I have to try their version of the dirty Dr. Pepper with espresso and I wanted their delicious BLTA but they were out of avocados ='( so I went with the grilled cheese with bacon and added tomatoes and their salsa. Their salsa is fire and I do know where they get it from but my lips are sealed. So, if you're in the area, like supporting smaller coffee shops, give them a shoot. FYI, they also have online ordering and I believe delivery.

I really appreciate the team they have built there. Shout out my man Ethan. The overall vibe inside is always super chill, they welcome you to work on your laptop or come hang out with friends, and the music in there is always hitting. The decor is cute and welcoming. I was greeted when I walked in and experienced great service from the workers. Looking at the menu, there's plenty of great options. Some interesting sounding ones were Popcorn Latte and Tiramisu Biscoff Latte. There's also a bunch of yummy matcha options. I ended up getting a small Thai tea with boba (50% sweet). I really enjoyed the Thai tea and I don't have much of a sweet tooth so it was nice to have that customization option. I will also note that the boba was great. It was cooked perfectly. Not too hard and not too soft! Overall 5/5 stars :)

Once there were only two parties left, we got in line. When we finally reached the counter, the clerk took a phone order instead of helping us. We were then told to scan a QR code to place our order because they needed to focus on making drinks. After waiting in line, this was frustrating and felt very disorganized. Overall, the customer service was the worst part of the experience. It felt like in-person customers were not a priority at all. This was my first time at this spot, and it left a bad impression. I don't think I will be returning.

They have indoor and outdoor seating options. BUT BEWARE indoor seating gets competitive. Especially on a hot day, you'll often see people moving from seat to seat to get away from the entrance or are waiting for a seat to be freed inside. It's a great place for anything really. I've had hours of conversations, reading and work done here. I've also seen many others do the same. My main con with this place is the parking situation. The parking lot is TINY, so you have to park locally. That's about a 3-5 minute walking distance from the store. I normally wouldn't mind, but it bothers me on hot days. The food is so interesting. They have both healthy and hearty options at a competitive price. It's the classic Chicken & Waffles, Avocado Toast, Bouquet Burrito (a breakfast burrito) and Breakfast Tacos. Someone in the kitchen also likes kimchi and loves mixing it in their food because they also serve Kimchi Breakfast Tacos and Kimchi Grilled Cheese. I don't know how many visits it'll take to fully experience this place, but I think it's worth it.

This review is long overdue…read more I've been a House Roots regular since they opened their SFV shop many years ago and frequent the bakery as well. This location is the newest (only about a year or so?) of the three. Each store has a similar and yet distinct style/focus. This shop is located on the ground level of an apartment/leasing space, so if you're not looking for it, it can be missed/mistaken. Parking at first glance also seems difficult but don't worry, there's plenty in the parking garage behind the shop/ below the apartment building. The shop itself is beautiful! Compared to the other two locations, this location is most spacious; There's outdoor seating as well and indoor seating. It's pretty family friendly and equally accommodating to students/working professionals who need a place to do some work. There's a grab and go section, for those who need a quick bite as well as some food items- pastries and burritos. Overall, the environment is pretty relaxed and chill. As far as drinks go, I've tried several- everything from the drip, pour overs, espresso shots, americanos, sweet lattes, and pictured, both matcha and einspanner dreams from the last time I came with my husband and parents. Pricing is fair but most importantly, all their drinks are good! The espresso is good consistently which in turn makes all their coffee drinks delicious. All the speciality drinks are not overly sweet and well balanced, unless requested. Specifically from the last visit, the vanilla cream on top of the einspanner/matcha dreams were to die for. My husband, who isn't a coffee drinker also mentioned how good the matcha was, even with almond milk (he's lactose). If you want to venture out/explore something out of the usual drip or americano, I recommend the einspanner or matcha dream drinks! Besides the good coffee, all the Houseroots locations are set apart by their hospitality, and this shop is unparalleled. Every time I've come to grab a cup on my way to visit my parents or for an afternoon pick me up, all the baristas have been welcoming and warm. Northridge is always a treat, can't wait to come back when in the area!
