Love me some Storm Castle biscuits and gravy!! I've been here 4x's now and only had "Big John's Biscuits and Lotion" -- it's soooo good'. I've tried scrambled and over easy eggs, however that's the only change up. I did get the full order the first visit, been getting the half since... it's a lot to pack away!! My wife has gotten different plates each time and they've all been great, the most recent was today with their "GOAT" French Toast-- it was good -- great crust with lots of sweet flavors going on 4 half slices of think cut French bread. Service is spot on -- friendly staff who are always hustling!! Location and environment work for me -- love the down home vibe inside and tables are spread out well. Tips -- it's usually crowded and you want to come in at the top of the hour. It's usually packed from the jump and most folks will be in their seats 50-60 minutes. If you come after 10am on the weekend, expect a wait time of 30-40 minutes. read more

This is one of the breakfast places you need to check out! It's a cute, cozy spot near the University campus and the Museum of the Rockies! And, apparently Guy Fieri from the Food Network has been here and given his stamp of approval. I had Storm Castle Cafe bookmarked becuase I'm a sucker for corned beef hash. And my description stated "crispy corned beef hash" - need I say more? As promised, there was crispy corned beef hash and crispy hash browns, served with 2 eggs any style and choice of bread. They also have homemade sauces, bottled and ready to take home, if you like. The plate has huge portions, I tried, but failed to finish it. Service is great, you can tell there a bunch of regulars here and a lot of college students that frequent this spot. A whole-in-the-wall cozy, cute place to have a fantastic creative breakfast. The chef and staff are excellent. You'll never run out of coffee or water while you're waiting for a table or your food. The lines can be long however it's well worth it. Went with three others today, we ended up being there after the morning rush so the wait wasn't bad. They have several vegetarian selections or make it vegetarian on request. We started with Brooke's Fry bread that comes with honey and butter over the top. It was very good, crunchy in parts and soft in other areas. I had the Buzz Lutz Tribute. It was very flavorful and with the homemade sauces it kicked it up a few levels. The portion sizes are large so you can enjoy leftovers later. Two of the guests had the Biscuits and Lotion (1/2 orders) and they loved them. The last breakfast entree we had was Vaquero, lots of great flavors again with lots of leftovers. Oh the half orders they also had leftovers. Overall this place is a must try while you're in Bozeman. Came with a group of 5, people got the breakfast tacos, big John breakfast, enchiladas, and burritos. Nobody liked there meals but it did come out quickly and warm. They have Pepsi products as an FYI and it's on the smaller side. One guest did say they loved their sausage as a plus. Our waitress was unkind, dismissive, and didn't care to answer a single question. I did enjoy their house made hot sauces. I wouldn't come back to this place or recommend. read more

Was excited to try saying it's a farm to table restaurant.... My order had flaming hot Cheetos on top.... Not what I expected for a farm to table dining. Why the high rating, the fry bread was fantastic!!! We even took it home and heated it up in our toaster oven and tasted just as good! I did not like my food buzz lutz tribute, was mainly hash browns that were over cooked. My son liked his burger... It pains me to write this review. Our daughter and son in law were visiting from Colorado. They went for breakfast and my son in law ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and asked for the gravy on the side. He was told that could NOT BE DONE!!!!! Are you serious. Literal perfection!! Visiting Montana and just did a yelp search for Breakfast/Brunch. Saw this cute little place and had to try it out. SO SO glad I did. Delicious Mimosa! Corned Beef Hash is INCREDIBLE!!!!!! Eggs are cooked perfectly over medium and the hashbrowns are perfect. Crispy on top and soft underneath. Not greasy like some breakfast hashbrowns can be. Came here with high expectations and they were met! Really yummy breakfast place! Portions are huge. If you split an item it makes it way more affordable. Husband and I split the poncho and lefty breakfast platter. Absolutely delicious, and well spiced! I wanted to use the extra hot sauce on the table but it turned out I didn't need it. It definitely fed two people. My 20 year old nephew ate his entire ridiculously large burger and fries. He said it was delicious. We didn't try the Monte cristo but saw it served around us and looked scrumptious. The wait was really long. Like almost an hour... and we needed to catch a flight, so we told our server and ordered as soon as we sat down and he did a great job getting our order to us pretty quick. We really appreciated that! Would love to go back and try more next time! One odd thing is I could never find the menu on the website. So when you walk in lovely woman greets you like your a regular. She put us in the system and told us 30 min wait. She offered coffee while you wait and they have a little coffee stand next to the chairs. About 15 mins later we were seated and the waitress introduced herself and brought us waters. She was very friendly despite being busy. The food took a little while but every one was seated pretty close. The corned beef hash was without a doubt the best I've ever had. I eat CBH a few times a month and this was leaps beyond what I've had. It was super crispy which I prefer. The hash-browns tasted fresh and were plentiful. The eggs tasted like I scrambled them at home. The chef is out talking to guest which is a plus. You have to stop here, and it is worth the wait whatever the wait is. read more

What a fantastic brunch experience we had here on a recent trip to Bozeman! It was a drizzly Saturday late AM and we were hungry. Enough so, I we had no problem with a long wait. We ended up being presented with the option of sitting at the counter after maybe 15 minutes tops, we we took advantage of. I ordered the Monte Cristo, I have had a love affair with this 'sandwich' for decades and it is rare to find it on any menu down in the southwest. My friend ordered the Vaquero (breakfast burrito). The portions are HUGE. In fact the Monte Cristo could have easily been split between 2-3. I literally could only eat a 1/4 of it. I had hash browns as well as I wanted to try all of their hot sauces. I think my favorite was the green/jalapeno one. Anyway, the Monte Cristo was seriously on point and absolutely scrumptious. My friend went to town on her Vaquero (also could have been split given the size). Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They make their own hot sauces there (and you can buy them) so I took a bottle of the habanero (orange) sauce to go and flew that baby back to AZ to douse my food with. read more

We are not local but stay for several months a year in Bozeman and have for years. I've always enjoyed Storm Castle. We visited on Sunday and were seated quickly. We each had a cup of coffee that we received before being seated. Coffee was good. I ordered the country fried steak ~ no eggs & gravy on the side. The waitress say "no substitution". I wasn't asking for any substitutions. My husband ordered something also with gravy or chili and asked for it on side. Again "no substitutions". So we paid for our coffee and left. We never once asked for anything to be substituted. Still don't understand what the problem was over gravy/chili on the side. I doubt we will be back anytime soon. read more

Just go!! Not that this place needs another good review, but me and my boyfriend went here this morning and they did not disappoint. Service was fast (and they were packed), super friendly - multiple people asked us how the food was and chatted with us, and the ambiance was great. Being a born and raised Montanan, this felt like home. The food was amazing! I ordered an omelet but was nervous because I've never had an omelet at a restaurant but the dustin sounded good and I'm so happy I got it!! The omelet had gravy on it, gooey cheese, and was piping hot. It came with hash browns and a biscuit. I had their homemade strawberry rhubarb jam on my biscuit and it was so good. My boyfriend got the Monte Cristo and it was huge and delicious. I ate a quarter of his meal and it was outstanding. The sauces at the table were also excellent. They have a habanero sauce that my boyfriend loved and I really liked the chipotle one. Our meals were large, good bang for your buck! Really, really good. Definitely overpriced, even for Bozeman - last I checked my favorite breakfast items were $24 (Po Campo) and $27 (Makin' Hay). That's just too much - particularly since the comparatively cheap rental space has lured a long, long line of previous restaurants (Lighthouse, Red's on the Road, Switchback Grill......anon) that all went belly up because the price was great but the location was far from it. Still not a great location, inside is far more rustic than anywhere near fancy, but I guess the point of my 5 star-rating is precisely that: if these guys can do a booming business here, it's like they say about New Yorkers - they can do it anywhere. And that boils down to food quality. It's the single most important a restaurant has or hasn't got. They have it. read more

The best place I ate at during my stay in Montana and one I will visit again when coming back to Bozeman. It is one of the most homey restaurants I have been to in a while with fantastic food. I wouldn't even of known of this place if it wasn't for my cousin who drove me out here. The place re-opened very recently and she found it a great opportunity to also come back to Storm Castle as well. Situated just outside the university a visitor to Bozeman can grab a meal here and visit campus in a morning. Inside it tries to give off a country feel with wall mounts, wooden furniture and Montana scenic artwork. However it wasn't tacky. The service was very friendly and they have a variety of house hot sauces per table. When we were here we only had breakfast... so I didn't get to experience some of the highly recommended lunch items (like the Monte Crisco.) However what I did have here with the biscuits and gravy was delicious. My biscuits were smothered in white gravy sauce to the point where I didn't know which one was my round sausage or not. The amount of food I received for my order was massive as well. Normally I do finish everything in a meal but I had to stop myself this time from finishing. It was a great meal. Next time I am in Bozeman I want to try their lunch menu. Their sandwiches seem very good and I really enjoyed relaxing here. Highly recommend this restaurant to outsiders and locals. read more

The food was absolutely incredible! My family and I went there for brunch and were not disappointed. We had the sweet or savory waffles, the chimichangas, and the biscuits and gravy. all were perfection! The service was a bit slow, but to be expected from a popular small restaurant. Our server Gabriel was phenomenal. Such a people pleaser, he spoke loud enough for us to hear him and had such a pleasant air about him. The restaurant itself had a cozy homey atmosphere, with cute little signs on the walls. There was booth, bar, and table seating. With dim cottage lights! Overall the food was amazing, the service slow but the serving speedy and pleasant and the ambiance was cozy and very much reminded me of my grandmother's house. We will be going back! read more
