I have to tell you I was sooooooo worried about trying this place! As a Louisiana native seafood boils are a specialty and so you learn to be weary of any place that tries to do them. I am happy to say The Storming Crab has totally stunned me and it was actually a wonderful experience. We had a great girls lunch to kick off 2020 yesterday. We started with a round of several appetizers. We had a pick two combo of Boudin Balls and fried okra, an order of fried cheese and some Cajun fries. (What can I say we were in the mood to try lots!) Boudin balls are one of my favorite Louisiana goodies. They are fried balls filled with rice, pork and seasoning (think dirty rice) and usually the size of a golf ball. These are considerably smaller but they taste perfect! Great zing of spice but not going to make you need a gallon of water to wash it down! The fried Okra was great! Not greasy and very well battered. Their Cajun fries are not overly spicy and really good. For our meal my daughter and I shared the #1 dinner it's a pound of crawfish, a pound of shrimp red potatoes, corn and sausage. We had it cooked in Old Bay and mild and it was perfect! Tasted just like we were sitting down at a backyard boil in Baton Rouge! We also couldn't resist ordering a basket of fried alligator omg! Soooo good! The sweet meat was not overly battered so you didn't loose the taste of it! I hope they will offer this in the future as an appetizer because I do not really need the fried with it - it's perfect all in its own. Our friend had the Snow Crab legs and they were beautiful! I'm def gonna get some next trip! Ohhh I almost forgot they brought our complimentary seafood bread! It is TO DIE FOR. It's a blend of crab and cheese and garlic butter on a French loaf. There is a reason we left in a food coma! To those saying it is pricey - it's market prices. I thought for the amount of food we got and the quality it was very reasonable. Love the food. And those that complain about the menu and the market value pricing, just read. I swear. People complain about the pettiest things. It's not complicated. They have boards everywhere telling what the current prices are. The restaurant has to pay market pricing so they pass that along to us. It's seafood in NE Ohio. Didn't even make it to the meal tonight at this place. Have eaten in various seafood / cajun boil places before, and always enjoyed them. Took my two kids here for dinner. The menu was confusing to say the least. No prices on most things -- I get it, most seafood prices vary. So, if you want to know what your meal is going to ballpark at, you need to walk around this restaurant to find a chalkboard to see what the prices per lb are for everything on the menu. Next task was to try to get the waitress to explain how much we would need to order for 3 people, and how, exactly to order for 3 as she kept insisting that most of the combos "were for 1-2 people". I didn't have 1-2 people. I had 3. It was sufficiently frustrating that, after many attempts, I finally assumed that the server had never seen a party of 3 before and gave up, ordered an appetizer, and left for dinner elsewhere. Didn't take us more than 30 seconds to determine what the meals cost where we ended up, nor did it take a slide ruler or repeated questioning of the server in order to determine how to order them. Fantastic!! Service was great and food was outstanding. We had combo 2 which had a pound of Dungeness crab, 1lb of shrimp,1lb of clams, sausage, red skin potatoes and corn on the cob in a boil with garlic butter. Outstanding. They brought us their delicious cheesy seafood bread as soon as we sat down. Hush puppies were great too. Victoria was our server and very nice and attentive. It might be our favorite restaurant now. We got seated at 530pm, it wasn't until 6pm when waitress finally came and greeted our table. We ordered drinks and appetizers. At 630 still sitting here and not appetizers and not once asked do we need refills. Yes, tonight is busy, but this isn't my first time here. And it's been busier than this and service has always been up to par. But tonight I think I will take a break from coming here. No excuse when sitting here and see other tables get greeted as soon as seated and get their orders. The waitress stated, oh sorry we had a large group come in for a party. Well poor excuse!!!. If in fact that was the case (which it wasn't) when people are being seated, this should be explained to guest. We have a large party, we are short staff and kitchen cooks, but nothing was said, because short staffed was not the problem. Horrible, horrible, horrible service. Ball has seriously been dropped. If 0 was an option, I would give a 0 UPDATE: We didn't get our food until 7pm, by that time we were ready to go. The food wasn't really good like usual. They did take 20% off my Bill and took a meal off and 20% off the other check. Was appreciated, but we weren't pleased. Was a little apprehensive of how good was the seafood going to be in NorthEast Ohio. Well all fears are gone after the dinner we had. The raw oysters were fresh the boil we had was fResh and tasty. We came on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. We ordered the Number 4 boil of shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, crawfish, and snow crab legs. We added in six scallops as well. I was overjoyed that the scallops were cooked expertly. Everything was cooked well. We also had hush puppies and they were great. We did the mild old bay. Service was attentive. We came around 4:00 today for Mother's Day and had a reservation for 8. We got off to a rocky start because we were also celebrating my dad's birthday and at first they didn't seat us right away because the server wasn't there for that section. We understand the short staffing but think it would have been a better idea to keep people from congregating in the front and just had us sit while we waited. I'm very patient and again understand. When they took us to our table, they tried splitting us to two separate tables which I understand may be their policy but they could have mentioned this prior to our arrival. If I wanted to sit at separate tables, I would have made two reservations. The hostess didn't try to hold back her expression of annoyance when we asked to be put together at a booth. Yes it was a little crowded but with three kids, we had room. This is where things definitely improved in my eyes. Our server ( William P.) immediately approached us and had such a great attitude. He let us know immediately that they were short staffed so to keep that in mind while waiting. We came right before the rush and I could see that things were getting busy but this guy hustled! I could see him moving around waiting on tables, cleaning tables, and doing just about everything he could to keep his guests happy. He was on top of everything. I don't normally right reviews but with the volume and understaffing, this guy should truly be mentioned because he made it a great experience for us and certainly was working hard. And even as he warned us of the short staffing, our meals came out spaced in the perfect amount of time from drinks to apps to salads to entrees to desert so kudos to the bartenders and kitchen staff as well! I am truly impressed at how well they all handled the busy volume during such a difficult time for restaurants. We were told there was a 30 minute wait. They take your number and call you when your table is ready. We waited inside for 40 minutes then stepped outside since there were people without masks in the waiting area. After an hour I call the restaurant from our car to ask how much longer. They claim they called me twice. My phone never rang. No apologies, they never said come right in and we will seat you. Instead the girl just argued with me and kept saying she called me twice. The only thing that didn't make sense to me and kinda through off the ambiance was the writing on the walls. And on the SEATS. Finally made it to Storming Crabs and the service was terrible!! Was directed to a booth and a piece of paper was placed on the table and off went the greeters! After waiting 10 minutes with no-one coming to our table to ask us if we wanted anything to drink and had no menu I went to ask for one. They looked at one another and blamed the other for not giving us a menu. Another 10 minutes is going by still no drink offered to us and other customers are being waited on that came in after us and others being seated. Yuck!!! The shrimp was over cooked. The corn tasted like it was cooked the night before and then microwaved. I expected so much more because of the Storming Crab in NY is delicious. Think twice before you eat here. The food was good. However, soon after we left my husband began experiencing food poisoning symptoms. After he suffered for a few hours and we were sure it must be food poisoning, I called the resturant to alert the manager. First, I was told that I needed to take my husband to a doctor and get proof that it was food poisoning. I told them forget it. If they don't want to make it right, that's their business. Then, I got a call from another manger saying they are very clean and no one else is sick so they doubt he got food posioning there. She then offered me a discount off our "next" meal which I politely declined. Why would I want to come back for a discount when my husband is still suffering from our experience eating there? We spent $150 on our lunch including a 20% gratuity. I don't regret the tip. Our server was wonderful. They didn't even take my information to check my bill or what we ate. Clearly, they didn't care. We have a significant amount of leftovers, but I am scared to eat anything. I don't want to risk also getting sick. Beware that you could get food poisoning and if so it will be a waste of money because they do not care to make it right. read more

Outside of hitting the road down south, this is the best food of its kind you will find in the area...and there isn't a close second. If seafood boils are for you, do NOT miss it. I only docked it a star because I'm not terribly impressed with how things are run inside. Service can be spotty, and they could use a little dimming on the interior lighting. So, the staff was nice....that's where it ends. They plop down a plastic bag with your "boil pot" food in it, no plates or way to functionally eat it...that's ok until you start trying to eat it. Crabs are not cleaned well but are boiled in with all the other foods. Shrimp are not only not pealed but still have the legs so your stuck trying to clean off the shells and legs (all coated in the butter and ingredients) it's just a simple armature mess, even for those adept at eating in a poncho. Seafood jumbo....one shrimp, one muscle and tasted like water with seasoning poured in. Crab cakes were hard on the outside and served with little turds of "fake crab on a stick". Surprisingly the crab turds on on a stick were the best part...well actually the corn on the cob was good but I wonder about the extra ingredients from floating around with the crab.... Oh my gosh! To be honest, I was expecting to be disappointed, but oh boy, did they deliver! I got chicken strips with fries, Topher got fried gator with Cajun fries, and Miss Cathy got shrimp with sweet potato fries. We also got 2 orders of mozzarella sticks.
