So the kid and I were out on a drive and I had told him that there was a BBQ place in downtown Newberg that is suppose to have the best brisket around. After being at Matt's on Mississippi a great number of times and trying brisket at every other Bbq place we decided to stop in on a Wednesday at lunch time. I got the brisket plate he got brisket and pulled pork combo. Brisket was taste wise very good. One of the best I have had outside of Texas. Good smoke and came with a side and toast. Cute little BBQ restaurant in Old downtown Newberg. I have wanted to try it for quite some time. Walking up you can smell the BBQ cooking . Inside it's cute, clean and modern with a few tables and bar and window bar seating. We ordered a Bruin Brisket Grilled Cheese Sandwich and a self serve can of pale ale beer. The sandwich was incredible especially the brisket which was melt in your mouth tender with plenty of melty cheese. Do you ever want to not review a place because you don't want there to be long lines next time you go? I had their fantastic brisket sandwich. I can't wait to try more of their meat offerings. The brisket was super tender and you can tell they take the utmost pride in making the best bbq possible. They put a white sauce (not Alabama style) on it but I'd probably ask for it dry next time as they have an excellent bbq sauce I'd rather have. Interestingly Apple Maps thinks they are in a back alley which fortunately takes you past the smoker. First let me say that I have been in the restaurant business for over 35 years and owned a very successful BBQ joint so I'm a bit critical sometimes so I will limit my comments. The delicious smell of the smoker led me and my girlfriend into this establishment. It is a typical hole in the wall type place where you hope to find when looking for that out of this world BBQ. Unfortunately, they were out of ribs but we tried the brisket. My plate consisted of two generous slices with the fat which I appreciate. My girlfriend had the brisket cheese melt. We both chose the mac and cheese as our side dish. The mac and cheese was average. However, both of us felt the brisket lacked a little flavor and was dry even though it had a nice smoke ring. I was not excited about the fact that the brisket appeared to be possible reheat brought back the life on a flat top grill. Anybody that knows a good brisket is looking for that nice slice with that "fresh out of the smoker" Bam! Reheating on the flat top just zapped the smokey flavor right out of the meat. To the crew's credit, when you're smoking meats overnight you're predicting what kind of business you'll be doing the next day. You'll either smoke too much or not enough that's the reality of running a barbecue joint. There are professional barbecue tips and techniques to bring a brisket or a pork butt back to life so to speak. But running them over the flat top grill is not the best way to do it. Okay for the brisket melt, but not for center of the plate. Overall I like the hole in the wall feel. The two young guys running the place were great. Next time we pass through we may give it another try in hopes that we would get a fresher brisket and see what it's all about. Good luck to you all read more

I'm so glad I found this place on Yelp! Our family loved all the options of food trucks but all chose this one. My husband and I both got brisket sandwiches, and the crispy onions on them were a great touch. SO yummy. Our kids got Mac n cheese and baked beans. I'm pleasantly surprised they liked the slightly smoky flavor of the Mac n cheese, and they didn't finish their beans but said they were yummy too. I also got the Mexican corn salad - it was a little more lime-heavy than I expected but was really yummy too. Paired with a couple beers from inside and we were very happy! Afterward we went to the playground directly across the street, which our kids were thrilled about, and then the ice cream shop a couple blocks away. I'm very disappointed with my recent experience and, unfortunately, I won't be returning or recommending this restaurant. I visited because I wanted to support the community fundraiser connected to the Meltdown event, where proceeds from a specific sandwich were supposed to benefit YCAP. I had tried several times before but was always told the sandwich was sold out, which I understood. This time, I asked for more information about whether the sandwich had been available and how the fundraiser worked. The employee who helped me (Grant) was very rude and dismissive. I was told the sandwich "wasn't popular" and that I was basically out of luck, with no helpful information or alternative options. When I tried to ask more about the fundraiser, I was told they didn't care about the Meltdown or what it supported. That response was disappointing and concerning, especially since the restaurant is listed as a participant in a community event meant to benefit a local organization. Supporting businesses that care about their community matters to me, and this interaction did not reflect that. Me and my bestie Jenni-Pants! just finished wine tasting at Carlton Cellars and Bravuro Cellars and we were both hungry, buzzed, and in no condition to drive. We had walked by this place on our way to go wine tasting and made a mental note of it's location for later. I had forgotten that I'd been there before. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which comes with a sliced dill pickle and a little cup of coleslaw. We both started in on our sandwiches and noticed there was no BBQ sauce. The sandwiches were mighty bland. Luckily on of the young men working there came out and asked us how everything was. We asked for BBA sauce. There was a lot of fat on the meat so we both took it off the bun and ended up eating it with a knife and fork. Really good first visit. My kids live in Newberg and had been telling us about it. They were really busy when we got here so they were out of a few things. I always judge a bbq place first by their pulled pork. This was really good. Not the best I've had, but way above average for Oregon. (I lived in the south for 15 years.) Props for having a Carolina vinegar sauce. I prefer it to be a bit spicier but once again it was good. I loved the ribs. The rub on it was flavorful and unique. Love the fact it tasted original and not like any I've ever had. The ribs were not fall off the bone, nor were they chewy. A really good medium. Great sweet bbq sauce was a great complement. We got the last of the mac and cheese. Cheesey goodness. The slaw was good, kind of a mustard base. (Could be wrong.) Last thing- their Texas toast was great too. Buttered and griddled. Will be back. Was in the area visiting the Willamette wine region w my wife for a long weekend and we were nearby and had plans to eat at their sister restaurant "The Painted Lady" that evening so we stopped by and split a full rack of Saint Louis style smoked ribs. Nice peppery outside crispy layer and didn't need any sauce at all. Can there be a better statement of how good a restaurants food is? I'd like to know how you top well every night they sell out till they are out of everything. I was searching to have some BBQ ribs for Christmas and came across Storrs. Got the two meat platter with brisket and pork ribs. Wow! The Brisket is so tender that it will melt in your mouth. Seasoned perfectly! The Pork ribs are smoky and also full of flavors. The texture is closer to dry jerky but still soft and tender. So we heard about this place from the naked lady waiter and were excited about what we heard. Unfortunately this place was a disaster. After trying to sit down we were then told that we stand up and go to the counter to order. So we did. We tried one of each meat. This meat was SO DRY and COLD. We spent over $60 for everything including their nasty plum cheesecake for ice cream that tasted like it was sitting for the last year. Opened it up and it looked like it had been sitting for a year as well. Biggest waste of money and the lady upfront provided no insight to the menu or sounded like she knew anything. She just sat there and stared at us awkwardly while we were trying to navigate the place as their are a couple menus one difficult to see that had the sides on. My stomach hurts from what I ate. My friends live in Newberg and recommended trying this place out. We did take out ordering a half rack of baby back ribs, a dozen chicken wings, cole slaw, Mac n cheese and 2 Ice cream sandwiches. This was PLENTY for two people, three would probably be fine too unless they are all hungry big dudes. Ribs - Really good smoke flavor, tender and juicy. They were a little greasy which was strange for ribs, but maybe they were basting them during the smoke. They gave us a little bit of a hard time about getting two to go containers of each type of sauce, which seemed weird to me... I want sauce with my bbq and there were two of us. Sauces - "CU" was kind of weird to me. It was a little more like a chutney texture and didn't add much flavor. Hot was my favorite, though I think it could have had even more kick if it were up to me. The sweet was very classic and, after tasting a TON of Pinot Noirs earlier that day I could definitely taste that element. Very tasty. Chicken wings - hands down, this was my favorite thing. The smoke flavor was bold snd delicious. The crunch was awesome. I only wish I would have tossed them in the hot bbq sauce instead of dip them but that's personal preference for sure. Cole slaw - this was fine. It was fresh and crunchy and broke up all the meat, but I think the celery seed was a little over powering in our batch. Mac - Pretty good, probably better fresh from the restaurant instead of traveling to go. I liked that they got the creamy real cheese texture without it separating. The pulled pork was amazing and the brisket was so, so yummy. The only complaint I have is that the brisket sandwich was a little light on the meat. My husbands pulled pork was piled high, while I barely had enough to cover the bun. The potato salad and cole slaw were good. I would definitely go back and have both the pulled pork and brisket again. Some of their ice cream looked good too, so I would like to try that if I'm not so stuffed that I can't eat another bite...this is a real concern.
