Strap Tank Brewery is a great place to grab lunch or dinner in St George, Utah. I noticed this place last time when I drove by it, and really liked the building and made sure I didn't miss it next time around. Today, happened to be, I had a quick trip to St George and I went to grab a quick bite before heading back to Vegas. It was between lunch and dinner, so the place wasn't packed at all. Hostess offered a seat by the bar or in the dining room. I picked the dining room. Waiter came over quickly, took my order, then returned with water and my Pepsi. Then a few minutes later he came back with the sandwich which was French Dip with Fries. The sandwich was more like a cheese steak sandwich, I noticed, but it was tasty enough to eat it, and didn't bother me much. Although, I picked out the spicy peppers from it, and the waiter asked me if I wanted it to remake the sandwich, but it was really fine. I only took out the spicy peppers, because I don't eat spicy food at all. That's all. I told him that I think it's really a cheesesteak sandwich, and he said that this is how they make the French Dip in this restaurant. I didn't make a big deal about it. As I said before, it was tasty and I ate it. He refilled my Pepsi. Got my check, paid, and left. This Brewery is worth visiting, because it looks really cool! The building itself is huge, very authentic with lots of great decorations. I hope Strap Tank is better known for its drinks than it is for its food -- the food menu is pretty on the small side, and our party tried several of the options. From the pizza to the enchiladas to the pulled pork sandwiches, everything was pretty 'meh' to us (the only glowing review was for the brisket mac and cheese). While our server was friendly, they were not attentive, so several of us ran out of drinks and were never asked for refills. Overall, disappointing -- I wouldn't recommend or come back here again. read more

I wanted to like this place but it's not good. The beer is fine. I have had worse but I have had much better. I see that other reviews talk about it taking a long time to get food and it appears the solution they applied was to precook things so they come out quickly. Fried food takes time to prepare yet we got hot wings and fries in less than 5 minutes. Not possible with freshly prepared food. Everything tasted like it had sat under a heat lamp waiting to be served. The fries were not crispy and had that greasy film on them from sitting out. Don't profess that you make fresh tallow fries and don't produce something tasty. Service was good read more

My running group from Austin went to the Strap Tank Brewery after running the St.George marathon and half marathon. One of our members had done a lot of research and found this to be the best place for a post-race celebration. There was a large room upstairs, with no charge for renting it, and a good menu of food and drinks. It was perfect! I ordered the burger and fries. They were both so good for refueling after the race! The burger was cooked medium rare as I had ordered, and the fries were seasoned perfectly and a bit crunchy. We had the place for 3 hours, and there was plenty of room for our 50 members to socialize, share race stories, and show off our medals. The restaurant is decorated with motorcycle memorabilia. read more

We come in a couple times a month, I don't know if this place is undiscovered or a hidden gem... but fail to understand the lack of customers here. The dining space, upper & lower bars, great service, DJ...that's not even to mention the great menu. We love to travel & really appreciate local spaces & flavors, this place is IN YOUR BACK YARD. The building is amazing and is adorned with many cool decor items. The drinks were superb and our server was very kind. Unfortunately, the food was not up to par. I ordered the cheeseburger, which was not listed on the menu as being served with aioli sauce. I even asked the server if there was any sauce on it, and she said no. However, when it arrived, it had aioli on it, so I sent it back. I suppose in their haste to correct the mistake, they ended up not cooking the burger thoroughly. My sister-in-law ordered the chicken tenders, which were cooked perfectly but lacked flavor. There was no seasoning. Everything we tried was a hit! We ordered the artichoke dip appetizer and was one of the standouts--rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, especially paired with the warm, toasted pita. The salsa on top was a good addition. The fish & chips came out perfectly golden and crispy, with hearty fries and plenty of sauces to mix and match. The Southwest chicken salad was another pleasant surprise. The chicken had a really flavorful, well-seasoned marinade that made the whole dish feel fresh and satisfying. Generous croutons and a tangy dressing tied it all together. I also tried the spicy margarita, which was good and had a nice kick, though it could've used a bit more bold flavor to really make it pop. Do not recommend! Brought large party in, would like a heads up on an automatic gratuity of 22% before we pay not when I pay. The service wasn't even close to 22%, 10% maybe. Food was worse than the service. My husband and kids fries were cold, bottom of my fish for my fish and chips were soggy, pizza tasted like cardboard and nacho cheese was coagulated and cold, obviously been sitting for a while. The atmosphere is nice and clean. Our server was nice, I didn't get her name. When we first arrived nobody was at the station to seat us so it took awhile for someone to help us get seated. The food was good, the french fries were the best thing we had. The mashed potatoes were lacking flavor, they were ok. The pulled pork sandwich was good, the bottom bun was a bit soggy. My husband liked his hot chicken sandwich. The coconut shrimp tasted a little burnt, but was pretty good overall, the dipping sauce was really delicious. Went to strap tank Saturday night ordered a hamburger, it came with some god-awful sauce on it they called barbecue sauce. It didn't taste like any barbecue sauce I've ever had. The cocktails are overpriced and I'm not sure there was any alcohol in mine, we also tried a couple of their beers and we were not blown away- just meh That being said the service is good, except for the second time I went with my daughter and son-in-law we asked if we could sit outside and the hostess said it's was not open ok but as we were going to be seated we could clearly see people were eating out there. We had a great waitress and the facility is very impressive but the they are in need of a massive revamp of their food quality. I really want to love this place so I hope things change. I was waiting for Strap Tank to open ever since I found out about it being built. Im all for breweries with food especially here where there are so few. We went opening week but I knew I would wait until my second visit to write a review to be fair. That first week was wild. The waits were an hour or more during dinner and they wouldnt take reservations. Our service was good. Food coming out was slow. Beer was ok. I had the seasonal sour which had edible glitter in it for some reason. Burger is a solid choice here. I didnt care for the meatballs and cheese was sliding down on kids pizza. 2nd visit....no wait inside but we still had to wait for a hostess to come to the hostess booth. Once seated we waited for a server. We continued to wait... we saw the table that was seated after us and another table right before us all get greeted and waited on. We were all seated in the same area yet still no one to even acknowledge us. We waited a bit longer as servers passed us by and then decided to leave. I saw the reviews before my second visit and hoped our experience would be different. Pretty bummed. Im willing to give it one more try. I just have to convince my husband. read more

Today's visit is likely influenced by shrinkflation and inflation, and the rising cost of food agains the challenge of running a business. This is my first time at the St George location, but I have previously visited the Lehi and Springville spots. It's been a while since I've eaten here, and I was excited to try the new Southern Utah location. I was handed a menu that seemed quite trimmed down, a lot less options than I was used to seeing, but I was there for beer and a steak, both still available. I ended up skipping the steak though, it was a tenderloin priced at nearly $40, and opted for the Hot Chicken sandwich on a brioche bun, but added chips and queso, so felt good about the order. The queso was nice, just a hint of spice, but the salsa sucked, I think it had oregano in it, or some stale herb, if it was unpleasant and we did not use it. The queso was good though. I got the chicken sandwich, expecting a good size piece of chicken, but was SHOCKED at the size of the chicken. I'd be surprised if it was 2 oz of chicken, a sliver of meat, heavily breaded, and the bun was very small (like whopper jr size). This is a $20 sandwich, and although I felt full from the fries (excellent) and chips and queso, I give the chicken sandwich 1 star. Service was great, restaurant is new and clean and plenty of seating, but I can't get over the tiny chicken sandwich. I'd have expected something like an inch thick piece of meat, then add some breading and fried, but the meat with breading was MAYBE 1/4" thick. If that was a chicken breast, they just be stretching a single breast into 10 sandwiches. They also started a thing where the hamburgers are no longer ground beef, they're adding pork (which is way cheaper), but I didn't want pork and I didn't want a $40 steak, so my hopes the chicken would be okay was even more disappointing. Portion sizes and sandwich sizes are very very different than what I had back in Springville years ago, way less options, and so I doubt I'll go back, but I'm sympathetic because this is what America's food industry looks like. I immensely enjoyed the German Pilsner beer, Wisconsin Stuffed Bratwurst and the deliciously creamy macaroni & cheese. It was my first experience at Strap Tank. Sadie being very attentive rolling with my jokes and Mike providing extra fries and concern that all was well, we laughed and joked thru out my whole birthday dinner. It felt good. Review: We stumbled in here on accident with a large party on Sunday morning, and unfortunately the experience was pretty disappointing. We asked for waters for the table, including six kids' waters, and the server responded with, "Are they even going to drink it? I don't want to make them if they're not going to drink it." Not the best start. A few of our food items also missed the mark. I ordered a burger with American cheese and it came out topped with cheddar instead. The coconut shrimp and even the bread that came with the spinach artichoke dip were both burnt -- like beyond burnt. One positive is that the kids' entrée portions are huge... honestly probably too big. And getting hit with an automatic 22% gratuity on top of everything felt a little ridiculous given the overall experience. I really dont understand the low ratings in the reviews here...i eat out alot and im definitely picky when it comes to quality of food. The French dip is one of the best Ive had, the au jus is very flavorful. The pepperoni pizza was really good. The person I came with one of the times said the brisket mac and cheese was amazing. And the beer is good...I had a flight of beer and couldn't decide which one was better. Service seems good too. Ambiance is great. It makes me think the bad reviews are from people who are just never happy and like to complain....I dont get it...OK I just found out they have new management and decided to edit this... that could be the difference in my experience and some others in the past. read more

The building/decor is awesome!! The server (Elle) was an absolute sweetheart. Unfortunately, that's the end of the good. Appetizer came relatively quick (wings) the buffalo wasn't bad but the Parmesan Garlic were definitely flat, if not devoid, of flavor. We got three burgers first time they came out all three were as black as hockey puck and crunchy as a rice cake. One burger had to go back because it was contaminated (food allergy). This is not too far off for the amount of allergies to avoid, but a new burger and caramelized onions didn't come until everyone else was done eating. Luckily that new burger wasn't a puck. Also there was a dog barking repeatedly that no one addressed. I'm torn between backing a dog friendly place and wanting them to enforce the service animals only sign they display. Overall it is unlikely I will return when we are back in town. If you go I hope your experience is better, this place seems like it could be really cool. read more

Everything is fried, no options for my gluten free wife, no kids menus and our server didn't know what was on the kids menu. When I asked what he liked he said he hasn't tried a lot of the food. lol Unfortunately the rest of the meal was a let down. Beer was ok but not great. Pizza was soggy and tasted like it was frozen, pork mac and cheese came with very little pork, never got refills for the drinks. We have always loved brew food. We wanted to try this place out since it's new to the area. Loved the decor and atmosphere. Super fun to go to. The staff was very kind and quick to take care of us. The food was very well displayed. The flavor was a little lacking for us. We're prefer a lot more spice and interesting flavors, but we still enjoyed it all enough to return and try some of the other dishes. We did love the artichoke dip. read more

The portion size was more than expected, and every bite was packed with that smoky-sweet flavor you hope for when you walk into a true Southern BBQ. The meat practically fell off the bone and the glaze, don't get me started. I asked for an extra side just to dip in. The only issue I had was the service. Our waitress didn't check back on us much, and we had to ask another server to grab a few things we needed. Still, when it comes to the food itself, Strap Tank absolutely nails it.
