MY EXPERIENCE.. I went around in yucca valley, palm springs, and cathedral city. I wont mention any shop names. I stopped at probably 5 different shops. at 1 I didn't even get acknowledged that I was there, others were just plain to dam hot to walk in, I couldn't imagine laying there for a couple of hours getting work done, also environment was like somebody died, no music, hot n sweaty, dungeness... I walked into STRATA TATTOO LAB. nice temperature, ceiling fans going, nice loud music LIVELY. in a minute I was greeted by RYAN. I showed him a drawing of what I wanted to get, he gave me his suggestions of what he would do differently. and gave me a price.. right in the ball park of what I wanted to spend. at first I was kinda nervous, just thinking that man this artist is a big dude, I hope he dosnt have a heavy hand...day of tattoo, I come in. meet with RYAN RILEY, he shows me the placement of art, and it was perfect. we start the ink session. music playing, lively shop, ryan just gets into his zone n gos to town. at first I thought that I was only gonna get outline n come back later, but this artist is so good at what he does, he did outline, gave me a short break, came back in and went to town with shading. 3 and 1/2 hours later we were complete. AWESOME WORK, a huge tat, just above ankle n just below knee. I couldn't believe that its done. ive been wanting to get this done for years,,i never wear shorts because of some scars that I have on legs, but know with RYAN RILEY laying down this sick ass art, I couldn't be more proud of it and I cant wait to get the other leg done.. looking forward to wearing shorts with out people starring at scars..im very happy and I would definitely recommend this shop to any one. I knew I was heading from Canada to So Cal to visit family so I started checking out tat shops. The portfolios and reviews for Strata drew me to them originally. Once I was in the area I made a phone call and was pleasently surprised by the personal touch that comes with the shop owner returning your call. A quick conversation with Jay'e and a couple days later I made the trip up the hill from Palm Springs with an appointment booked. The shop itself was in pristine condition and the reviews regarding the cleanliness proved accurate. The layout of the shop is well thought out and allows for a feeling of openess and family atmosphere. You can tell that the staff gets along and works well together due to a commitment to professionalism on everyones part. The staff were all amazing people and artists. I was made to feel completely comfortable the whole time I was there. (I had about a 6 hour session). The tattoo I had done will no doubt be a topic of conversation everywhere I go for quite some time and I will be proud to share my experience with everyone. If you want a killer tat in a clean and professional shop done by people who care about the customer and the art then The Strata Tattoo Lab is the place to go. GREAT INK and BETTER PEOPLE. On a vacation in Palm Springs with limited time to spare, a friend and I wanted to get a piece done to commemorate our trip. We stopped in Strata to check availability, and they had the highest ratings in the area. Joel helped to find an artist who could make it work for us. I reviewed Marie's portfolio online and was thrilled to have her as our artist. I was also excited for a female artist, which I've never had before. Three of the four artists in the shop are female! Triple bonus. (Joel was perfectly pleasant and helpful too!) Marie provided her professional suggestions as an artist and was direct. When we arrived she had 4 different versions created for ua to choose from, which I thought was incredible. The Shop was immaculate, beautifully designed and decorated, and incredibly clean. Not only was the contract thorough in their sanitation practices, they reviewed it thoroughly prior to beginning the work as well. I was blown away by Marie. Personable, incredibly talented (her oil paintings look like photographs!), and she has an insanely gentle hand. She dabs instead of wipes during the work and it was the most gentle tattoo I've ever gotten. If I decide to get any future tattoos I would be willing to travel to Strata just to have Marie do the work! I highly recommend Marie and Strata for an overall great experience. read more

This tattoo shop is amazing, very clean and professional staff that each are respectful and friendly. I recently had a tat go bad with another shop in northern Ca, returned back to Yucca to have another tat shop mislead me that they were capable and reliable to complete a cover up. Jay'e Jones owner and artist of Strata Tattoo Lab was amazing during our first interaction, honest and willing. We schedule an appointment and she provided me with feedback. Several days later I arrived to have the tat cover up completed. Jay'e incorporated what I wanted in the cover up tat, made it look as though it wasn't ever there, was honest about what she thought would be best and completed an awesome FREE HAND tat around my wrist and down my forearm. Since our appointment, she has answered all questions I have pertaining to the new tat. I have spoke with several friends, colleagues and community members that have had and still have tats done with Jay'e, nothing but great reviews. I'm confident in saying she rocks!!! Jaye' is absolutely fabulous and her shop definitely reflects that..... I have been tattooed here at least five times now and pierced here three times as well! I love my tattoos and piercings and I always try to refer people due to the fact that it is always a laid back atmosphere yet always professional. It is one shop that you can walk into these days and actually be acknowledged right away, which really stands out to me because I have gone into a few other shops previously and stood there long enough that I just walked out.... Jaye' is the best and is always willing to help you create a beautiful masterpiece and work with you in increments to be able to not only afford but also have your work heal better!!! IN RESPONSE TO TRINO MARQUEZ's review. So the price changed for $600-$2000 on Trino's tattoo because he changed his idea from a hand sized black and grey Medusa into a full upper arm color-Realism Medusa. This piece ended up taking 3 sessions besides the one like his original black and grey Medusa would take, hence why I charged him 3 sessions of labor, he also left out how he repeatedly hit on me and sexually harassed me by showing me a photo of his male friend's genitalia, and also verbally abusing me by calling me a b****, A******, and a D***. Also this is the only negative review I've ever had. Last Trino also threatened to call social services on me as if that was gonna do something about the tattoo problem. So Trino, grow up and kick rocks bro, you gotta pay for good work. Learn boundaries and how to respect other people bro. read more

This is, by far, the most professional and FRIENDLY tattoo shop that I have ever had the pleasure of getting tattooed at. The shop is beautiful, the staff is actually nice, and its a comfortable and inviting place to get tattooed. Its cleaner than most doctor's offices, and Jay'e takes pride in the cleanliness and professionalisim of her shop. I've received many pieces of artwork from Jay'e, approximately 65 hours worth of tattoo work so far. She's kind, professional, and a fantastic artist. I live in New Jersey, and actually fly out to California to get tattooed by Jay'e once or twice a year, she is the ONLY tattoo artist I will work with from now on. One of my all time favorite tattoo shops! Being a military family we have been to many and Strata is at the top of our list! The atmosphere is awesome, the shop is clean and everyone is super friendly! We especially love Shane Prater! My husband and I each have 2 pieces done by him now. He worked with us to help design exactly what we wanted and his line work and coloring is phenomenal! We both get compliments on our tattoos from him all the time! I absolutely love the vibe of this shop. It's comfortable, relaxed, super clean, decorated nicely & the talent is top notch. I got some murky, "liquidy" tattoos at another place in Yucca five years ago & it soured me on getting tattooed up here. My artist has been Balentine each time, and has helped turn some very rocky rough ideas I had into incredible pieces far beyond what I could have come up with.
