We were at a wedding rehearsal, and for supper, they said we'd be eating at the Strawberry Café. We were seated immediately and then came the appetizers. We had a big group, so we had 2 waiters. They were incredibly nice. They're were 3 different appetizers, all were delicious! Crab cakes, pita chips and spinach dip, and no sauce tiny pizza chips with hummus! We had 3 course meals. Excellent upscale cafe! Started off with a nice Mimosa and a cup of creamy crab soup. Obviously homemade with fresh and plentiful crab. Brunch for me today was a fresh salad with 5 large lightly fried shrimp with another, obviously home made roumalade (spelling) dressing. The veggies were super fresh and cut small so I didn't have to cut it down myself. Homemade French bread croutons. This place puts the extra care into their food. Very good! I am on a sammich safari to get a top ten list of sandwiches in the Jackson area to go with my burger list. The Train Car was on my list. "Po Boy" with shredded prime rib and shrimp. Sounded great but the execution was average at best. It was basically 1/2 a normal po-boy size, with non-toasted bread (pet peeve) and the contents were sparse. Good sandwich, but not going to be close to making the list. On the restaurant itself, lunch crowd was mostly women and the portion size is targeted at that from what I can see. I get it. This is a hidden gem in Madison. The food is five star rated in my book. Great for lunch or dinner.

Very cold inside. Ladies were freezing. Complimentary biscuits were cold and not fresh. Spinach/artichoke dip was good. The pita chips were particularly good. Very light and crispy, but but too salty. The oysters (on poboy) were a bit undercooked and not hot. They were room temp by the time they were served. The bread was 'ok', but would have been much better if toasted or grilled. The wilted spinach was inedible due to salt. Had to get a different side - sweet potato fries. They were good. The crab cake (sandwich) was not very tasty. It, too, was room temp. The patty on the burger was a bit too firm/overcooked. A very expensive restaurant considering the offerings are unimpressive. An appetizer, four entrees, a cola, and a tea. $70 before tip. An 8oz filet was priced at $32. Our overall experience was mediocre, at best. This restaurant seems to be trying very hard to create something nice in the fine dining market, but it appears the chefs are inexperienced. Strawberry Cafe is a sweet little restaurant located beside the tracks in Madison, MS. It is a little hard to find in my opinion, as it almost hides behind Persnickety Kitchen, but you can see the green sign from the road with a sharp eye. Service was average. My bf and I felt like the waitress was really heavy-handed and slammed our glass cups down on the table every time she refilled our sweet tea (uh, did I order the wrong drink??), but she was pleasant enough. Food was bleh. Average. Nothing to call home about, but it wasn't revolting either. Just.... Average. Kind of funny how the only two items on the menu that contained any strawberries at Strawberry Cafe was the cafe salad, which had a strawberry vinaigrette, and a strawberry cake for dessert. Being as it is that stopped in for lunch, I was surprised that our meal (2 people) turned out to be close to $35. Granted, we did each got a Poboy and shared one appetizer. We've visited The Strawberry Cafe multiple times. Food is always good and fresh. We went for Saturday brunch this weekend and the waitress was rude. They were very busy and the waitress claimed that the kitchen couldn't make any modifications to food due to it being busy and the printer being down. They were simple modifications of removing tomatoes and avocado. We listened to other tables around us order items with modifications with no issue... My French toast was soggy and bacon thin and greasy. Won't be returning anytime soon. read more

This place is so good! My fiend & I had the pita melt appetizer and it was amazing. We couldn't stop eating it. We split the fried green tomato blt & the Madison station. Both were very good, but the Madison station was the best. I also really enjoyed the onion rings. We also ordered a couple drinks. This was my first time dining at the Strawberry Cafe. I would give it 5 stars if a drink wasn't spilled on me, but I'm a very fair Yelper and I still must give them 4 stars. The atmosphere is nice and laid back. They are taking Covid precautions by having hand sanitizer at the entrance and wearing mask. I ordered the Chicken Cutlet and it was cooked to perfection. The eggs on the fried chicken breast were cooked to perfection. The fried green tomatoes with crab meat are great also. I like the biscuits that I noticed each table receives as well. I plan to return. This was only my 2nd time dining out since March when the Pandemic begin. But the Strawberry Cafe is a place that I plan to visit again. read more

The server was so sweet and nice. But I did not like the food AT ALL. I got the general tso chicken. It was so bad that I barely touched it. Too spicy and it was drenched in sauce. I spent $40 to something I didn't eat. The server asked if I could get something else and the cook said NO. I will never come back. I would not recommend. I came here for brunch after the stellar Yelp Reviews and a couple of issues. 1) it was very hot in the restaurant making it uncomfortable to stay there longer than you needed to, 2)the food was warm and not piping hot like it had been sitting for a while prior to arriving at the table. 3)The food was not aesthetically appealing as it was beige with out any contrasting colors. I will say that the next day after heating in the microwave it did taste better, however, you don't want your food to sit a day before eating it.
