I came to see a play, and I was very surprised. The venue looks like a combination of a movies theater and a museum for some reason. They have parking near the center, but also there plenty of street parking and garages around. I noticed that there were many small bars, so there was not a problem with big lines to get a drink. I was impressed with Jaeb Theater at the Straz Center. I went to see Suzy Eddie Izzard there recently and enjoyed the intimacy of the theater. Being so close to the stage from our seats front and center allowed for this pure engagement as Izzard performed all 23 roles of Hamlet. The Jaeb Theater at the Straz has high ceilings in the lobby but it's fairly tight once it's full with people waiting to enter the theater. There is a corner reserved for refreshments and eats, with a limited spirit selection, beer, wine, and other non alcoholic products. Their cookies were wicked tasty with the white chocolate and macadamia nuts. The other side has two restrooms that fill up during intermission but there were ample stalls. The staff were friendly and ensured we made it to our seats, which were front and center. The experience was magical. read more

Amazing as always! The area around the theater was under some construction but didn't impede on the experience! Super friendly and helpful staff with a beautiful theater and some good snacks to choose before watching the show. Great experience at the Straz! They do things right from beginning to end. When you arrive, you have to pass through metal detectors, and all handbags are checked. After your pass is scanned, there seem to always be eager ushers willing to help and guide you for any of your needs. There are mobile bars both outside the venue (prior to ticket scanning), as well as inside the lobby. They have all main liquor types, an eclectic assortment of beers in addition to non-alcoholic beverages. Note: next to the lobby bar has a candy station with a variety of options, including Sour Patch watermelons. If you are on the 2nd or 3rd floors there is an elevator (decently sized) to the right, next to a staircase. The staircase is wide and the angle of the steps is very subtle, so it is easy on the lower-body joints. There are truly is no bad seat in the house, however, some people find the seats to be too upright, especially on the 3rd balcony level. BEETLEJUICE 2026 - SUCH a disappointment - The performers were great !! Wonderful body language and physical humor. This cast list was full of acclaimed performers and I was looking forward to seeing them all live! The set was fantastic and innovative, scene changes were super smooth and seamless. The performers had impeccable timing for their cues and all seemed to be passionately loving their roles. What ruined the show for me was how terrible the volume leveling was. It was obvious that the music, the ensemble, and the leads were all coming out of the same speaker at the same volume, so all the solo voices were totally drowned out if there were any ensemble background singing or dramatic music. I don't know if the touring group had any control of the audio settings, but the way the volume leveling was set up made the whole production feel like a high school level performance. read more

Came here for the Holidaze show. I haven't been here in years! They have valet parking but seems to be a different price for different cars? No clue because it was $25 for us but my friend paid $35 and the person behind her was charged $25. Very confused. Also we were disabled parking but still charged and not given the option to park ourselves in the designated disabled spaces. I didn't think this was legal to charge for disabled given even the city of Tampa doesn't charge for disabled parked cars at a meter. The show was good and the staff helpful in finding seats and handing out programs. They do have some eatery options available onsite. They also have concessions where you can get popcorn and candy and drinks. read more

First time Straz-attendee here! My neighbor (a former ballet dancer himself) and me went to a production of The Nutcracker. Because I'm a little more on the technologically challenged side, and I like old-school tickets that I can hold in my hand, I had ordered my tickets to pick up at the window. We arrived via Lyft for a smooth trip, and went straight to the will-call window, and I was a little surprised how easy and organized it was to find my way around considering that I have never been here before. This is a great and beautiful venue that boasts its own coffee shop (a little on the pricey side, but the food was actually decent and it was worth the visit if you don't want to stray far for food) and a restaurant (which we didn't go to). The inside is very lovely, clean, and elegant, and I can't help but feel a little sophisticated walking right in. Our section was very easy to find and there were plenty of attendants willing to help and assist us when getting to our seats. I very first-class experience indeed watching the show, and I wouldn't mind coming back to see another performance. Worthy of an encore. read more

This is a nice place to go to see a concert. We were there to see Michael Francis conduct Copland's 3rd symphony. We had great orchestra seats, which meant that we could see the downstage musicians really well and appreciate Mr. Francis' athletic conducting. The acoustics were nice. I wish that there was an attached parking garage, but I appreciate that valet parking is available if the walk from Poe is too much (also since the Poe garage elevator is slow at best and frequently broken). You are allowed to bring outside bottled drinks, and they sell alcohol and food on premises. There's a cafe in the Morsani Hall, but it's very casual. There's a prix fixe restaurant at the Straz (not in Morsani Hall), but you need reservations, so plan well ahead if you're going to a weekend performance as so many people want to park only once for their night out. I've heard that the food at Maestro's isn't great, but the convenience makes it appealing. We couldn't get reservations, so we walked a few blocks to a fast casual restaurant down Tyler, and it was good and much more reasonably priced. I like that there's a free informational session an hour before the orchestral performances. I didn't go this time as I didn't think my 7 year old would sit through both it and the performance, but I'd love to go on a child-free night. On the night we were there, a high school orchestra was playing in the lobby, which was a nice opportunity for those kids, and a fun thing to see. I'm glad that there's such great community work between the Florida Orchestra and the Tampa Bay at large. read more

They also have valet parking on site on a first come first serve basis. Theater was kept very clean. There were ample bathrooms and the seats were comfortable. They have balcony seating as well as floor level seating. Definitely a great place to be close to the performers. We went here to a Drag Queen Christmas and it was a great show. Dropped into the Straz to check out The Tragedy of Hamlet - Prince of Denmark. The show was excellent and my experience was also. I set in Mezzanine 3 row B, seat 2 this time. This was my first time sitting in the Mezzanine level but hope to going forward as I find these Mezzanine offers the best view. The gentleman named Mark who took my drink order was friendly. While I enjoyed the recent performance of Six, I was very disappointed with the parking situation at the Straz. I purchased tickets for my mother, who is handicapped and battling cancer, as a Mother's Day gift. Due to the confusing construction around the venue, we were unable to locate any handicapped parking. We circled back to valet, assuming that was the accessible parking option, only to be told handicapped parking MIGHT be available in the public garage across the street?! My mother has difficulty walking, and getting from valet to the entrance was challenging for her. There was no offer of assistance or any discounted valet option. We ended up paying for valet because there really wasn't another workable option for someone with mobility issues. It was frustrating to have to pay an additional $50 for parking after already spending a significant amount on the tickets and fees. What started out as a special evening together became stressful. This may have been my last visit to the Straz with my mother, and I hate that the experience surrounding accessibility and parking still has me so upset that three days later I'm writing this review. read more

We drove across the state to see the Monet + Van Gogh exhibit. The theater was convenient and easily accessible on a Sunday afternoon. We found the correct entrance and immediately ran into a sour-faced ticket-taker. She never looked up nor acknowledged us beyond mumbling about needing to see our tkts. Nothing we could say could break her self-imposed misery. Unfortunate, as this exhibit for anyone else would be a cause for joy seeing the collective works of 2 of history's greatest art Masters. Walking through the show was nice. The art was super-imposed via video on walls put up just for this show. We found ourselves in a large rectangular room with several small stools scattered randomly in the center. Finding 2 empty ones together, we sat and absorbed the multi-media presentation combining music and a video presentation of the Masters' best-known art. Our reverie was ruined by an unruly 6-7 year old girl who was allowed by her mother free rein as she played hopscotch across the carpeted floor in front of everyone. Then, a second family showed up with 2 boys ages 2 & 5, who ran around the room while shrieking and laughing. The parents barely contained their glee as they took video of their darling miscreants instead of controlling them so we could enjoy our expensive $75 per person exhibit. We next went to the virtual area to await our turn in time to see the hopscotch girl run in and immediately knock over a large display. The mother calmly tried to pick up the heavy display as the unruly child held her ears and started crying very loudly because of the damage she caused. Clearly she had no business even being allowed in the exhibit, much less being controlled by her oblivious mother. We and the folks around us all agreed these 3 kids had no business being anywhere near this beautiful exhibit. Money wasted. But the inconsiderate parents no doubt went home and told all their friends what a wonderful cultural exhibit their little monsters got to experience. At our expense. read more

What a fantastic venue! Nestled right in downtown Tampa, the Straz Center is a beautiful facility that makes you feel like you're at a fancy event regardless of what you're there to see. The evening of my event there were ample open spots at the box office, and I was able to grab my tickets and head inside easily. I saw the Avatar: The Last Airbender in concert and it was amazing! The seats were comfortable, the acoustics were fantastic, and the visuals were excellently displayed. The only reason I'm giving the Straz Center 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the parking. While patrons are given multiple reminders to book parking early and offered multiple options for parking garages, the volume of people the facility holds inevitably results in a huge mess when parking. Even though I prepaid for parking, I was fighting for spots with people who didn't prepay and it took me 15 minutes to park upon arrival and over 30 minutes to get out of the garage after the show (I wish I was joking). While I understand this is not something the facility can address right away, it is something to seriously consider when visiting. Otherwise, this is a great place to enjoy live events, and I'll happily (with an Uber ride) attend another event here in the future. read more

I bought three vip tickets for the nutcracker ballet the day of. Online you couldn't find anywhere that stated if the premium experience was included. The nutcracker premium experience tickets were 10.00 less than the VIP tickets. When I arrived I went to will call and asked first if it included and they said yes. I walked to the front and then they said I needed an additional ticket for my 11 month old even though it didn't state it anywhere online. I went back to will call and the lady at will call said why they didn't just charge me at the front door. After buying the lap ticket I went to the third floor then the lady didn't know what a VIP ticket stood for. She then said it didn't include the premium experience even though on my email it said it did. I then went downstairs and spoke to HUE the manager. He didn't know what the difference between a VIP ticket and regular or premium experience ticket was. None of the employees were educated yet I spent 540.00 for three tickets including my 6 year old who wouldn't drink. They then asked me to wait while they went upstairs to verify since none of them knew: They then came downstairs and said only two posters were included so what is VIP there was no VIP experience the absolute worst experience I've ever witnessed at a venue and I'm an extremely patient person. To make matters worst I made the line to buy a nutcracker for my son and daughter. I decided to get the more expensive ones on display and one was 69 and one was 92. Then the guy said he would grab the ones on display and put them in a box. He made a mistake and only rang up the one for 69 so I let him know trying to be honest. He then went and got a manager who stated it was 127 for the second instead of 92. I told them you realize you made a mistake by not ringing the second one and I didn't want to steal and then you make a mistake on the price on display and then you want me to pay for your mistakes. Due to my pride I paid the 127.00 but I swear this venue is ran by illiterate people that have no clue or idea and don't understand basic customer service. What was supposed to be a VIP experience was by far the worst experience I've ever witnessed at any venue. I'm a Floridian and I love Tampa at heart but the Straz requires new management due to a total of 7 employees having a lack of competency. read more

Very impressed with this venue! We arrived an hour before the show and were one of the first in valet which is right out front the entrance. Love the system as they park your car and give your keys back so you can leave asap after. People were helping you get seated. Beautiful venue. Great view and sound no matter where. I went to a comedy show and when it was done I'd expected there'd be a jam to get out but no it was the most east and smooth to get everyone to leave at once. Traffic controllers were helping people parked in valet get passed the crowd leaving which was also a big plus. The tickets were expensive but it was compensated with the amazing service and experience at this venue. read more

Horrible Customer Service, missed a show due to the extreme traffic and lack of parking because the show correlated with st Patrick weekend. Sent a email and they said they would take care of it. After 3 days some different woman was extremely upset that I asked for a refund and decided not to help me at all after I spent $240 on this show and drove 3 hours just to miss it. Lights, no cameras please-lots of action. What a gorgeous place to see a stage show! The Straz sits right on the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa, with a soaring atrium lobby and a southern wall of all-glass. All that light and the beautiful view settles your soul before you're seated in the lovely Carol Morsani Hall (or the other performance spaces there) and you feel fully enveloped in the experience. What a fun way to spend an afternoon or evening-and while it feels grand, it's not stuffy at all-it's warm and inviting. I went with that feeling-and ordered champagne. This weekend, my friends invited me to see "To Kill A Mockingbird," with Richard Thomas. One of my friends is a season ticket holder and she has excellent seats on the floor. Our other friends were able to sit two rows behind us. The seats are comfy and the views great, wherever you sit. I've never had trouble hearing either, but I'm sure that varies from person to person. The ushers are kind, helpful and friendly-and the bathroom attendant in the ladies room has an amazing system for moving that line during intermission. She makes sure everyone gets back in time. (I need her directing the rest of my life!) There are several beverage carts sprinkled through the lobby-and cup holders at the seats. I believe you can also eat there, too-at least at some events. We've always eaten somewhere else before or after-but the patio area outside and the lobby sets up nicely for dining-and again, you can't beat the ambiance and view. Parking has changed a bit-since so many buildings are going up in that area. The closest garage is now gone but there are several other lots and garages nearby. We used the Park Mobile app to secure parking in the Royal lot nearby. It was an easy walk by day. I'd probably shoot for the Poe garage along Ashley for a nighttime performance. If you're looking for a great afternoon out, the matinee prices can be very reasonable-and there are all sorts of productions to choose from. It doesn't have to be expensive. Oh! And there's a little coffee/pastry shop along the covered walkway, between performance venues-and tables outside to sit and sip before you go in. I'm so thankful my friends let me tag along! Beyond Van Gogh/ Beyond Monet at the STRAZ Theater in Tampa FL. My wife and I have seen the Van Gogh Immersive experience in Miami and in Tampa both were excellent. Featuring many works of art and several visuals. We experience the Dahli immersive in St. Pete Fl another excellent venue. So, I review with MUCH experience. Beyond Van Gogh AND Monet at the STRAZ in Tampa features very little individual art of both artists. As you walked along the corridor you see much information on the artists life, motivation and history etc. Very little to just a few pieces of individual art. Not until you reached the Immersive section did you experience their individual artistic talents and contributions-there was very little seating, (stools very uncomfortable) much in the middle of a room with 360 wall panels of motion artwork combined with music, In the former mentioned Immersive experiences seating was along the outer edges allowing the viewer to have a much broader and comprehensive viewing experience. This was my first time attending a show in the Jaeb Theater at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts. They have several theaters so I was only accustom to entering into the main/huge building not realizing there were smaller theaters right of the ticket office, I thought that was only restaurants or whatever. I went to see Christmas with C.S. Lewis staring David Payne, what an excellent show. Every seat in the theater are great. Basically it several rows of tables with 4 chairs per table. There is not a bad seat in the house. There are balcony seating as well. The ushers are so friendly and very personable, didn't realize they are volunteers at least the ones I spoke with were. It a very clean facility, they have adult beverages and non alcoholic drinks available for purchase. I look forward to attending another event here soon. read more

Quite a beautiful theater experience in a place that makes you feel you are on Broadway. The productions brought through here are impressive. Almost every seat has a clear view.
