Passing through Portsmouth on the way up the coast and I was looking for something that the various carnivores, veggie leaning, etc. in my family would like. We also tend to skew all over the place regarding the ethnicity of foods we like. I go for Asian foods and that's not my husband and son's preference. I happen to love street food from all countries as I know that is usually the best! What fun to have a place to try various types. This place was perfect for multiple reasons. Everything we had was tasty and satisfying. The decor was fun and the service was friendly. They both got lamb shawarma, my kid had it with fries. They were both very satisfied. I had a an Asian salad with a protein of Korean bbq beef... There were a number or different proteins offered. One of the ways I can tell if I like a restaurant if they have good salad dressing (imho most don't) and the salad dressing was delicious. A nice lemon vinaigrette. Overall, we really enjoyed the food here. The menu has a lot of exciting options that immediately make you want to order several things and try all the different Asian flavors. This was our first visit, and we tried the chicken sandwich, potstickers, and cauliflower. Everything had really good flavor and a nice level of spice, and the portions felt fair for the price. The chicken sandwich was tasty, although I thought the chicken itself could have been a little thicker and juicier. I also liked that they cut the sandwich in half, but the tape around it felt a little excessive and made it harder than it needed to be to actually eat. That said, the flavors were very good, the pricing felt reasonable, and I enjoyed both the food and the beer. From a value standpoint, I thought they did a lot right. The main thing that kept the experience from being better was the service on the patio. The staff was not unfriendly at all, but it was difficult at times to get someone's attention, and simple requests seemed to take longer than they should have. That's something I'm noticing more and more in restaurants lately. If guests are being asked to tip at full-service levels, there still needs to be consistent follow-through and attentiveness throughout the meal, especially on a patio where it can already be harder to get someone's attention. Overall, though, I would recommend the place. The food was flavorful, interesting, and reasonably priced, and I'd definitely be willing to come back and try more of the menu. read more

Finally made it here. Sooooo good. In a plaza with parking space. Inside and outside dining. Eclectic menu. Great drink menu. Service was great. We had the curry fries that come in regular portion shareable for 2-3 maybe 4 people or a fun size portion. Korean chicken tenders were large and very tasty. Cuban so delicious. You'll find Greek, Korean, Mexican, and classic American pub favorites all in one place--yet everything feels thoughtful and well-executed rather than all over the map. The dishes we tried were very good, with the empanadas standing out as a clear favorite--crispy, flavorful, and generously filled. I'm already looking forward to going back so I can try their bánh mì sandwich, which caught my eye on the menu. On my last visit, I ordered the gyro along with the curry fries; both were solid choices, with the fries having an especially nice kick. Street is a long-time favorite that I have neglected to review. We came down to Portsmouth for a concert and we wisely decided to go to Street! The decor is funky, fun, and welcoming with cool music playing in the background. Our server had a bunch of tables to take care of, but we never felt neglected and she was super cheerful, too. We shared the crispy rice cake with the added bonus of Mexican grilled cheese on top of it. My partner really enjoyed her bountiful and large Cobb Salad. I had the Porchetta sandwich which was tender and juicy and piping hot! Street is tucked in the back of a sorta strip mall, but it's worth your effort to find it! read more

We were looking for a lunch spot while in Portsmouth and found the Street. What a great place with good food. A globally inspired menu and I loved that they had 'fake chicken' as an option. The Shanghai chicken sandwich with the fake chicken was very good. I liked the combination of the chicken, slaw and dressing. It wasn't too large and included chips had some zing. I decided to get to go. It looked really busy on a Saturday. I ordered the curry fries, bibimbap, and Vietnamese chicken as a side. The person who helped take my order was nice. The other lady when I came back to ask if I could use the bathroom gave me an expression that I ruined her night. The rice for the bibimbap was pretty crunchy. The spinach felt overcooked.. Carrots were slightly cooked, felt a little too crunchy. The fried egg was perfect. Seasoning wasn't overpowering. I see the other reviews and saw that the bibimbap is amazing, and I felt like it was just ok. The curry fries were good, but $14 dollars for fries doesn't seem right.. However I LOVED the curry mayo that came with them. So good. The Vietnamese chicken was very good too, moist and flavorful. We were on our way to Boothbay so this was a pleasant find as we were only stopping for one night. The location is a bit hidden but the locals seem to know about it. It was very busy for a Tuesday evening and the crowd was definitely younger with this location having a hip decor and vibe. The food was intriguing as it was eclectic street food from various cultures. I had a Bahn Mi and my wife had a Chinese Chicken sandwich and both were huge. I think I finished maybe half and my only criticism is that I would have liked less meat and more pickled veggies. It came on a large sub roll that was toasted and my wife's was on a brioche bun. We also ordered a side of Curry Fries which were slathered in Curry Sauce and delicious. The prices were reasonable and the staff was very courteous. This was a real find and wish we had something similar in our home area. If we go back to the area this will be a definite stop. read more

Very good lunch in Portsmouth. If you get anything, get the curry fries, they were soooo good and unique. The sauce was very tasty and loaded and somehow the fries stayed super crispy. My friend got the Shanghai chicken and enjoyed it. The Cemita burger was very flavorful and cooked well. Thought it was odd everything was served with house made tortilla chips but they were actually very good. Service was quick and friendly despite the restaurant being super busy. Me and my boyfriend searched through TikTok for what to eat while visiting for one day in Portsmouth and boy am I glad we landed on street. I am still thinking of those curry fries even days later. Their food was delicious, especially the side meat of Porchetta. Wasn't the biggest fan of their Korean Beef but everything else was so good they still got 5 stars in my book. Overall: incredibly surprised by the tastiness of the assortment of fusion they had going on. Between Korean bibimbap to Latin American dishes like the Cemita this place really wide ranged it. But it didn't sacrifice on the flavor which it definitely packed. Food: the subarashii fries themselves were above average already being crispy and potatoey, but the kimchi ketchup puts it over the top. I've had Bulgogi fries but this is a completely new spin on a Asian poutine esq dish. The cemita was absolutely loaded with goods. The slab of melted cheese combined with the slices of avocado. The burger patty itself tasted better than your average ole ground beef patty. Perhaps they ground up their own meat? Ambience/Decor/Service: a super cool setup with very hipster antique modern vibes. Unsure if that's even a description but they have a cool bar super kind waiters/waitresses. Stopped on our way into Portsmouth on the weekend and it was packed. We waited a bit for our table but the wait for the food was wayyyy too long. So much so that once our server took our order, he never came back to even give a heads up that it might take over 45 mins for the food to arrive. And by then, the lunch crowd had disappeared and we were one of a handful of tables left. When I asked the manager/hostess if there's a delay, I could sense the exasperation but then in a min or so, she got our lunch out. Which made me wonder if it had been sitting on the kitchen counter... finally, lunch was close to 2:30. The reason we even stopped here was because the menu featured cuisines from all over the world. It kinda does but the flavors aren't like the traditional dish. So while the food we ordered (wings, huevos rancheros, Singapore salad, falafel) was good, none of it tasted authentic. The portions are also huge and so it's the price. I wish they did half portions like they so with the salad so that you aren't stuck with so much leftovers. Either way, the service left much to be desired. Don't make a hungry party wait without acknowledging it and checking in on them. read more

Nice place - unfortunately we were too late for outside seating but nice atmosphere and staff were good. Getting the food was perhaps a bit on the slow side but they were busy and we were not in a hurry so no real issue for us. We were there for brunch and I had The Irish. I thought it was supposed to have a biscuit but wasn't sure at the time - just checked and it was supposed to come with a biscuit - instead it had a rosti which was good so I was fine with that. First off, traveling 100-150 days a year has given me an opportunity to eat in an average of 300 restaurants an annually, since 2004. Traveling with musicians no less! I've never been treated like this. So... We joined our family at one of my sister in laws favorite restaurants in Portsmouth. We were excited. They even advertised a vegan gluten free noodle bowl that looked great. We sat down and at first I just ordered a water. Then my family mentioned a mai tai. So I asked for one. I thought the server said " the bar tender isn't comfortable making that) and I didn't mind. I rarely drink. My wife then asked if there was any other drinks the bar tender wasn't comfortable with making. We are on vacation and quite frankly we just don't drink much. Then the server said that the bartender wasn't comfortable serving us. We were shocked. But still didn't quite understand the reasoning. I've never even seen the bartender, or said a word to her. I think the time that it is taking me to type this is longer than our complete experience in there. I've heard the food is great. But the service was not only terrible, but borderline discriminatory. Because my family are long time fans, we decided to go to the Exeter location. The manager Adam was incredibly hospitable. I Immediately felt a different vibe. He was engaging, gracious and really made up for an experience he knew nothing about. We only shared with him what happened after we dined there. I will write a separate review for the Exeter location, which was top notch. This particular review, I hope can help correct any issues that the staff may be experiencing at this location. Contrary to some comments about service, our service was really excellent. The food was good unfortunately our food experience peaked early with the appetisers and the dumplings con pow. This dish was brilliant, and I wish I had ordered it again for my entree. We also had the beef empanadas and the rice cake with Korean beef on top. The empanadas were very good. The rice cake was OK. One of the disappointing aspects of the menu is that there is only one entree and several bowls. There were many sandwiches though, so I think if I ever returned it would be for lunch. read more

CrIsPy WiNgS! With a delicious spicy, sweet, garlic ginger sauce. Heck Yeah! I don't know about you, but I'm always down for crispy flavorful wings. It was busy busy but we were able to snag a spot at the bar within 5mins. Service was also surprisingly quick for how busy it was. I got the noodle bowl, which reminded me of Pad Thai but with more veggies. I highly recommend if you enjoy Pad Thai. My other half got the Lamb Shawarma. I already pay the CC company an annual fee. I get fraught protection and a yearly accounting of my expenditures. What are you providing for that 3%? Why are you punishing my loyalty. Even if I miss a few weeks, lets say 10, that means I eat there 42 times a year. So, for approximately $36 a year you've lost a regular...I may be back, but not weekly. We went to Street for a Sunday Brunch at peak time and of no surprise there was a 40-minute wait. We put in our phone number and kept ourselves busy and the notice came on time. The drinks looked great, but since we had to travel, we went for the "working on my beach bod" it was veggies (onion, broccoli, roasted red peppers and asparagus on top of egg whites cooked perfectly. A side salad and some avocado on the top completed the dish and it was delightful. We also had the Healthy Benny with two perfectly cooked poached eggs on top of a bed of sweet potato hash and spinach with a generous dollop of hollandaise sauce. WE LOVED IT. The place does have a hipster feel (should I say vibe), but even as older patrons we were made to feel at home and service was quick, friendly, and everything we expected. Here they stand true to their name- Street Food from around the world. I think the chef's have done such a great job of curating the menu and they not only have variety in terms of flavors, but also have something for everyone's dietary preferences. We really wanted to try Gobi-65 but it was not available :( The curry fries were amazing! The chili flakes gave it a subtle spice and the curry mayo added a lovely twist to the flavor. They were perfectly crispy as well. Husband and I also shared the bibimbap. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. The flavors were good but underwhelming. Not to say it was bad, I just think I will stick to other dishes the next time I dine here. We also got a side of falafel that came with some tahini sauce. The falafel was perfectly crunchy from outside and the flavor was good as well, but they were a little dry. They might taste fine once put in a wrap with a bunch of other sauces and salad, but on its own it was okay. The service was wonderful. They have a lovely outdoor porch as well. The indoor space is cute and quirky. Although the dishes we ordered this time did not impress us as much as we thought they would, I still want to come back and try some other dishes.
