I'm romantically involved with these shakes & cupcakes. I wrote a song for them, a duet: "Up Where We Belong Hearts." So did the Foos (Everlong Hearts), the Chinese (Hong Kong Hearts), the Taiwanese (Oolong Hearts), my ex-bro with the tiny thing (Prong Hearts), me with the not tiny thing (Dong Hearts), Dua Lipa (Swansong Hearts), and Neil (Armstrong Hearts). The world's best milkshake. It's that simple. And it's vegan too. Can you believe it. And one of the best ever cupcakes too (the blueberry). If this were "Thong Hearts" it'd be a Vickie's Secret offshoot to go with all of the others like "Love Pink." And yes, I do love pink, since you mention it. Get: The Cesar Chavez Shake And: The amazing cupcakes, especially Blueberry. And?: Everything is Vegan, how cool is that. If it were "Donkey Kong Hearts" it'd be full of gamers. Who'd, surprisingly, love the shakes, and become Vegan Gamers. What do you mean, "Vegans don't do cool things like game?" What a f***ing ironic statement that is. Now it's on. It's on like Donkey Kong. I will take you down to Chinatown. So I had some really bad service issues here over the years, some were frustrating AF and made me want to knock off a star or 5, but how can I when the shake is this good. Sadly they don't even have an espresso machine anymore, so the Cesar Chavez isn't quite what it once was... but it's still my fave shake in the country despite that. I waited for another perfect trip, after many iffy-service visits, and finally, Strong Hearts somewhat redeemed themselves, as I had a truly amazing visit with them this most recent time. Lately the products have usually been good or perfect, but the service was not so great a couple of times recently. In fact sometimes it was generally unfriendly and. But my most recent server girl (not to be confused with a Beach Boys Surfer Girl) was like totes the nicest in the whole world, talked to me at length, and was extremely friendly and just generally a really good person. She made me a very lovely milkshake as well, so thank you to her - and to the guy who photobombed me as you see. What an awesome guy. If it were "Beer Pong Hearts" it'd be way less Hipster and way more Frat Boy and Soro Girl. Speaking of Soro Girl, like Weiland said, she turned away, what was she looking at? She was a Soro Girl the day that she met me. What would you do if I followed you? (Probably tell the police you're stalking her, Scott). She was a teenage girl when she met me. Speaking of which. They say the way to a man's heart is through his p*nis. If so, call it "Long Hearts" because Vegans have the longest ones. It's Scientific Fact. C-SPAN (appropriate name) did an extended study on it. Emphasis on "extended". It was hard, but they managed to solidify their outcome and rise up from uncertainty with a potent conclusion. They're a slightly stiff but respected, upstanding organization. Emphasis on hard, outcome, solidify, rise up, potent, stiff, upstanding. Why is this the best ever? Simples. It tastes unlike any other shake, and better. It has the good elements of dairy (sinful flavours, creamy, dreamy, silky, thick, gooey and sexy like a girl I know), with a little something else (which is probably because it's made with coconut milk instead of dairy milk) that takes it over the edge (like I do with that girl I know). The price is prohibitive, $6 for a shake, but you won't care once you put it in your mouth (that's what he said). It's amazing. I will (and do) drive 2 hrs for this shake (or more). It's *that* good. So get your sexy virginal arse off I-90 (or I-whatever) and come (literally) to SH and try a Mocha Shake (or whichever one they recommend). See how damn good a vegan shake can be. Could it be true? Could it be as good as dairy? No. It could be f***ing better. Take my f***ing word for it. One day I'll become a Vegan (already am on a part-time basis). On that day I'll thank Strong Hearts. They're one of the best advertisements for Veganism. If it were "Sarong Hearts", the girls would wear Sarongs. How fun would that be. Actually idc. Just give me the shake before I get the shakes. I honestly had very low hopes despite all the rave reviews. Any place near downtown, open super super late, clearly run by the most hipstery hipsters in hipster history (say that 5 times fast), I'll be sure to hate. But no. If it's this good, it's this good... and it's this... damn... good. You simply must try it. And if you went to Strong Hearts On The Hill, you went to the Wrong Hearts (this one is better). And if you're in the Pacific Islands, go instead to Tonga Hearts. And if I sing in the bathroom, it's Song Hearts. Great food but the service and help was awful. I waited 20 min and saw several orders that were people behind me go out. In fact I was a single and 2 of those orders were multiple people. I was told that my order went to another sandwich area. Hmmm, I ordered the same thing as the guy in front of me and his order came out in 10 min. I'm not sure I got the truth, So I inquired. Where's my order? After a little discussion I was told it would be right up. 15 more minutes go by. It's now been 35 min for a simple chicken sandwich with a side salad. Meanwhile several more orders were completed before mine. When it came, there was no apology or credit for the mixup. I'm not vegan but I always enjoy eating at strong hearts either way. The "chicken" on the salad was delicious and the amount they give you is truly filling. The nachos are loaded and a great, filling appetizer. Of course I had to get my favorite milkshake! I wasn't a huge fan of the croutons because they were super crunchy but that's just a personal choice. Totally recommend this place to vegans and meat eaters alike! read more

Came here for lunch with my family before my brother hooding ceremony (graduation). I am vegan but my family isn't, especially my dad whom is always against eating vegan food. My dad complied to going and we went. When we arrived, it was pretty busy due to graduation weekend. We waited in line for around 5 minutes. We ordered the Reuben sandwich, sassy malassy sandwich, the regular Mac n cheese, and the hot wings. After waiting 15 or so minutes, we got our food. All the food was amazing! At first my dad was not loving his food because of the chicken texture but he soon ended up really liking it after he got over the fact that it isn't real chicken. Strong Hearts serves up delicious vegan eats in a chic (not to mention impeccably clean) environment. Stopped by here to get a little work done over some lunch. It's a great location for working as well as dining. I ordered their loaded fries, which come with vegan chorizo, vegan cashew cheese sauce, roasted corn, and green onions. They were divine with just the right amount of heat from the vegan chorizo. To my delight, the fries retained their crispness despite ample sauce and toppings (perfect!). I also indulged in their chocolate mint vegan cupcake. The cake tasted like devils food to me and the frosting was minty deliciousness! It's an order at the counter and they'll call your name when your food/drink is ready sort of situation. I didn't have the opportunity to try today, but they have an expansive shake menu. I spied a chocolate peanut butter shake, which definitely needs to happen the next time I'm able to stop by! The service was both quick and friendly and their prices were reasonable. The location was a bit difficult to find (I adjusted the map pointer on their Yelp profile, so hopefully easier now!), but worth the effort! Get to it! read more

I had my eye out for this place since there are so few vegan places in the area! I came here with a friend and we both ordered an entree and a milkshake. I got the loaded tofu scramble which came with two slices of toast along with the Harriet Tubman milkshake which was a basic Oreo milkshake with a hint of maple. The tofu scramble was well seasoned and there was an option to choose a couple of veggies and cheese/pesto. The milkshake was really good, and it wasn't too sweet which I liked a lot. My friend got the chickpea salad sandwich and the pumpkin coffee milkshake (forgot the name of it). They ran out of the coffee ice cream and replaced it with cold brew and vanilla once cream which she claimed to be a much better option. They do give a lot of food for their servings, and the milkshakes were really filling as well. There aren't a whole lot of tables at the place, so make sure to come early/ not at busy times if you want to sit down. TLDR; I've managed some of the best vegan restaurants in NYC and think that this restaurant is excellent! I popped into Strong Hearts on my way downstate from Canada. I just got back from a 3 vegan foodie trip in Toronto, and for context- have lived and worked in NYC with the most popular vegan companies and must say that this is by far the best vegan fast casual restaurant in the area, maybe even state. My boyfriend and I each ordered an entree and were more than satisfied with the sizes of our portions as they were generous, even for those who intend on sharing one plate. We ordered the buffalo wings in both original buffalo and garlic parmesan, the Reuben with dill potato salad, and blueberry cheesecake. Everything was delicious, though I'd recommend garlic parmesan as the sauce for the wings over buffalo. Service was phenomenal and the staff member that greeted me took her time to help me figure out an item on the menu that I'd like and offered her recommendations. Staff cleans the dining room frequently and food comes out in less than 10 minutes. One of these locations would thrive in NYC! hopefully ownership considers because this is a great restaurant concept! read more

Having run some successful Vegan restaurants, I have a deep appreciation for restaurants that do it well, and Strong Hearts does not disappoint! I have been there several times and love how the menu changes with the seasons (as you can see from my photos). They food is fresh, satisfying and above all else - delicious! Really nice looking place and great menu selection; however, where it says "chicken" and "steak" on the menu, it is not indeed those items, which is quite misleading. If you are vegan, this is the place for you. If not, beware... it won't taste very good because it's not what you would expect & hope for. The shakes are named after famous citizens of the world including John Lennon, Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, and even Tiananmen Square guy. It would be interesting to try them all with a checklist. Finding the restaurant is a bit of a challenge, as there is no sign outside. Think of it as a vegan speakeasy. Fantastic vegan food!! Four of us came for lunch, with only 2 of us being veggies, and it was outstanding. I got the Sweet Sassy Molassy spicy grilled tofu sandwich on ciabatta which was amazing!! Added on the fries which was a LOT of food but those were also deelish. My son enjoyed the 1/4 sandwich & fries leftover ;-) Hubby got the veggie burger which he loved, and friends got the Thai noodle salad - extremely spicy so not for those who don't love this. Lab produced food (chicken wings and chicken tenders are not real food nor real chicken). I wish the menu had been more clear about this. Not only is it fake food, it doesn't taste good either. Texture is like regurgitated meat. Also had kale salad and a berry smoothie. Both were good and made of real food. This place should stick to real food or at least advertise honestly. Let me start by staying that Strong Hearts is a must do for vegetarians/vegans if in Syracuse. I've followed them on Instagram for years and finally got the opportunity to stop in for lunch. It was easy to find parking on a Sunday at 1pm, but looked a lot busier when we were leaving. The food selection is wonderful. Where else can you get a vegan chicken Caesar salad? They also serve breakfast all day. I had the Buffalo tofu sandwich, which was delicious and filling. My date and I shared the sesame peanut noodles (very good) and the quinoa black bean salad (not bad). Great atmosphere - I love the activism theme. Now for the not so great: The restaurant itself is tiny. It was packed, and the people waiting for take out made it difficult to get to my table or to the bathroom. The self serve water was empty twice out of three times that I went to fill it. There was a little bit more of a wait for food than I expected for fast casual dining, maybe a half hour. And the saddest part: they were out of their famous milkshakes except for mint chocolate and pumpkin...two flavors which are not my scene. It's been a few years since I ordered from here, so I decided to get takeout. The online ordering system was super easy to navigate. This may seem standard, but it's surprising how many restaurants don't have a good system down, even after 1+ year of shutdowns. When I went to pick up my food, I was pleasantly surprised by the decor-- much nicer layout inside than the last time I came, which again, was ages ago. There were also tables outside, which seems like a nice dining option if you want to soak up some sunshine. Pickup was straightforward and the staff was very nice. The food was better than I remembered. I think maybe I just didn't make good order choices last time around, but this time I got the "chicken" tender salad, and it was pretty scrumptious. The texture was good-- perfect blend of crunchiness and chewiness. My only complaint was that there could have been a scosche more dressing-- or maybe it would have been better if it was in squeezable form, because it was thick and tricky to coat the salad evenly out of a cup. I'm not usually big on getting meat substitutes even though I don't eat meat, but it is nice to be able to have these hearty salads and meals instead of just getting tofu, veggies, or pasta. Strong Hearts is a great options for vegetarians and vegans, because they have a good array of dishes and it's nice to be able to order anything off the menu. Granted, I only had one of their dishes and their hot coffee (I originally wanted an Americano, but they couldn't make espresso drinks that day for some reason), but I really enjoyed what I got. I opted for the Basic Tofu Scramble, but I was surprised at how well-seasoned and flavorful the "basic" option was. I would imagine the more "loaded" scramble options would be even more flavorful, but the Basic Tofu Scramble already had red & green bell peppers, onions, and a spice mix so I decided to give that a try. They gladly could make it gluten-free by substituting a side salad instead of whole wheat toast, so I was happy. It was very tasty and filling, but also a bit greasy since it seemed to have been cooked with a little more oil than I would normally like. (But I felt satiated until the late afternoon.) There were a few other items on the menu that could have been made gluten-free, so I would love to come back sometime (if I happen to be in the area) to try more dishes here! EVERYTHING 100% is vegan! The cashier who took my order was nice. Unfortunately, it seemed like the wi-fi wasn't working, so that was a bit annoying. read more

Hands down one of the best restaurants in Syracuse and some of the best vegan food I've ever had! This place is beloved by locals and is a true gem. Must-try if you are in the area! This place is pretty amazing. Stopped here for dinner on our way to a Syracuse football game (go Orange). It's all vegan - I was a little confused when I saw the menu because a lot of stuff sounded like meat. I ordered a Reuben & my husband ordered some kind of kale & chicken salad. My Reuben was great - it tasted 90% like a "real" Reuben, but was delicious in its own way. The kale in my husband's salad was perfect - so fresh I actually wondered if it was grown out back. Husband also got a milkshake- he loved it, I thought it tasted kinda like a Carnation Instant Breakfast. I drive to Massachusetts often and alwayssss make a pit stop at strong hearts on my way home. I love the extensive milkshake menu, I get a different one every time. The Buffalo tofu with blue cheese sandwich is really good, like I would def get it again as they don't skimp out on the sauces there. The brownie was one of the best vegan brownies I had, really soft and moist still. I appreciate their take on the classics along with some different menu items.
