Black Rock Bar & Grill's location in Canton might have been the first one in this state as it has…read morebeen around for close to a decade now. It's across the street from IKEA which I always use as a landmark. I happened to be in town at the same time as some out-of-state friends so I chose this restaurant for our lunch because of its unique concept of cooking steak on a rock that has been heated up to 750+ degrees. We were the first party of the day as the restaurant was completely empty at 11:30. The menu was several pages long and had a potpourri of non-steak choices. Three of the middle pages described the concept of cooking steak on a 755°F volcanic stone along with the associated food offerings. A sirloin was available in three portion sizes. Other steak cuts were sold at 6 oz or 8 oz with or without the combination of another protein (e.g. coconut shrimp, kielbasa, ribs). Soup or salad and one side came with an order. I chose the Steak and Rib combo which consisted of a 6 oz serving of sirloin, half a slab of the house signature ribs, and my choices of clam chowder and mashed potatoes for the soup and side. The server brought over a cart that held the heated vessels. He demonstrated how to cook the meat and then placed a tray with a rock at my setting. I slathered the casino butter on the stone surface and then placed the sirloin to cook. The guidance for medium rare doneness was 15 to 25 seconds. The self-cooking and interaction with my fellow diners was what made this experience memorable. The clam chowder was the thinnest version I have tasted in a while. When I first looked at the cup, the broth reminded of me lemon chicken soup. The mashed potatoes were ordinary, and even the steak was plain with no seasoning added beforehand. There was salt and a cup of mayo-based sauce to flavor the meat. Since the kitchen did not have the task of cooking the sirloin, I thought the price should have been lower for a petite cut plus the ribs which didn't really stand out either. The service from the waiter was fine. What took long was the kitchen preparing the food even though we were their first customers. Maybe they had not pre-heated any stones until we had placed our order because I cannot think of why the other items would take that much time. I gave a 3.5 star rating for our meal at Black Rock Bar & Grill.

Your main dish (meat or seafood) comes out along with a 750 degree "rock" which you use to cook to your liking. I ordered the steak and kielbasa. It comes with a fantastic herb butter which adds tons of flavor. With your entree you also get soup/ salad and a side. I ordered clam chowder and asparagus. I thought this place was great. It isn't an upscale place but i can see this concept targeting a higher end market easily. Photo is a stock pic but accurately represents my order.

The restaurant is on an extremely busy four lane divided highway/street and this restaurant is next to a La-Z-Boy store (to help you spot it). The great news is there is a lot of free and convenient parking at the restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant, it is a very open floor plan. While there are many TV screens for those sitting near the bar area, it is not disruptive to those in the dining area. The ambiance is casually upscale and pleasant. The outdoor patio areas were closed off due to the hot summer temperatures. There is also a large covered patio-like area where it did not seem that people were seated (or very few). I believe that dogs are allowed there year-round, though there weren't any dogs there during our visit. When the weather is better, dogs are also allowed on the outdoor patio. My friend and I were seated in a comfortable booth and were promptly greeted by our server. My friend is gluten and dairy free and our server was very knowledgeable on how to accommodate these sensitivities. We both ordered the Tuscan Chicken Entrees - I had mine with green beans and mashed potatoes; my friend's sides were broccoli and tater tots. Our server was overall appropriately attentive. My friend found the chicken entree too peppery and I found mine edible but on the edge of being too salty. The chicken was topped with artichoke hearts and feta, which could account for some saltiness. If I came here again, I would probably order something else. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant, though it's not anyplace I would run back to. It was a good experience overall, but not for foodies. It's a sports bar that tries hard to be and overall succeeds in being a decent dining experience.

The cocktails are stunning, the food (whether brunch or dinner) is consistently memorable, and apparently every plate is so beautiful that I feel compelled to photograph it. Beyond the food, the service is always exceptional. The staff strikes that perfect balance of polished and warm, making every visit feel like a special occasion. And then there's the atmosphere. The abundant natural light, thoughtful seasonal décor, and the undeniable gravitas of a beautifully restored former bank create an experience that feels both elegant and welcoming. The Ledger is absolutely worthy of being a destination restaurant for celebrations and milestones. But the biggest compliment I can give it is this: we don't save it only for special occasions. Whenever we're nearby, we make a point to stop because the food, drinks, and experience are just that good and the seasonal specials never stay as long as you'd hope. And of course, the speakeasy downstairs is always the perfect end to the night.

She's attentive and on it, the rest of the staff made sure our dishes were cleared, drinks were topped off. Ordered Brussel chips, fat-sar salad, Lobster Mac N Cheese, truffle fries, G.O.A.T. 22, trumpet scallop pad Thai. $170.66 The Brussel chips, lobster Mac and the trumpet scallops (mushrooms) Pad Thai noodles were good at least. The G.O.A.T., Fat-sar and truffles were all underwhelming for me. Their tomahawk steaks are huge, table next to us got two cut up table side. You can smell the smoke flavor from the old fashioned drinks as soon as you walk in the door.

In essence, if you've had one pizza from the Big Three, you'll find they are they are very much alike. Growing up in the 1970s into 1990s, independent Mom and Pop restaurants served the best pizza you have ever tasted. Sadly, most of them have faded away over the years, but Maria's in Canton has real staying power and have been in business for over four decades. The owners of Maria's firmly believe in giving their customers the best service possible. They treat you more like family than just a number. They have always been one to think outside the box when it comes creating new and exciting products. Today, my coworkers and I enjoyed one of their truly unique concepts that was very delightful. No other restaurant that I know of, has ever offered a Thanksgiving themed pizza before. However, some creative genius who works in kitchen at Maria's let their mind run wild, and you end up with pizza that has a bread like crust, mashed potatoes for a base, then all the fixings like turkey, dressing and light cheese. To top it off, you can add gravy like I did, or cranberry sauce. If you ever have the chance, the interior at Maria's is rather interesting. You have a wide variety of liquor to choose from, and a whole lot more than pizza on the menu to choose from. Next time, I want to try their catfish.

They Definitely need an educated staff on alcohol. My brother ordered a specific drink and what he got was nothing close. When asked, the bar tender insisted it was the right thing. (Our waitress was a bit young and didn't seem to know much about alcoholic drinks, so she's not to blame). Even the manager came by though and said it was the right drink when it wasn't at all close. Based on the picture, description and my brother's previous experience with the drink he ordered-what he got was wrong. When the bill came, it was even listed as the wrong drink too. The server was kind and kept our other beverages refilled. However food came a bit later than expected and one plate was lukewarm; another, the cheese on the fries was crusty hard as if they sat under a heat lamp.
