Experience: I went to Studs for my second lobe experience and had a really positive experience! They gave me a same-day appointment, and first, at the front desk, they asked me some questions about what piercing I wanted. Then, they had me show my ID and fill out a waiver. Aaliyah did my piercing with a thin needle, and she was incredible! She first asked me to check the positioning of where she'd pierce, then talked with me throughout the piercing, and told me to take a deep breath before she pierced. You feel supported through the whole process, especially if you're nervous about the piercing hurting. Lastly, you come back to the front desk and pay for your piercing and earrings. Pain Level: Also, if you're thinking of a second lobe piercing, it doesn't hurt much other than a small pinch for around 2-5 seconds! You got this! Piercing Care: I highly recommend you buy their Saline solution when paying for the piercing, so you can spray your piercing front and back each morning and night. Lastly, they said to wait 4-6 months before changing out the earrings in your new piercing. Price: My only feedback would be that the piercing was expensive at $178, including the saline solution, as you pay $55 for the piercing and jewelry starting at $38 per earring. Wish they could offer a discount, as the 20% discount you see online for entering your email and phone number is only for online purchases. We brought my son here on February 2nd to get his ears pierced. We were initially quoted $35 per earlobe piercing, and understood the jewelry cost would vary depending on what he chose. Based on that, we expected to spend around $150. However, we ended up paying close to $350 for two earlobe piercings, jewelry, and tip, which was much higher than anticipated. On the paperwork, "4/2" was written, which we understood to mean around six weeks--the typical healing time before changing out earrings. When that time came, I had trouble removing them myself, so I brought my son back in, planning to have them removed and purchase a new pair of earrings there. Unfortunately, they didn't have any styles he liked. When I asked the front desk if they could simply remove his earrings, I was told they actually recommend waiting six months before changing earlobe piercings--something completely different from what was written on our paperwork. When I asked about the discrepancy, they couldn't explain it. I then asked if I could bring in earrings from another store for them to put in, and was told they don't handle outside jewelry, which I can understand. However, when I said I would go buy a pair elsewhere and just needed them to remove the current earrings, I was told they would charge $15 per ear just to take them out. Like really? After already spending $350, being charged an additional fee simply to remove earrings they installed felt unreasonable. Combined with the inconsistent information about healing timelines and limited jewelry selection, I said forget it. Luckily, I was able to remove the earrings at home and replace them with a nice pair we purchased. I understand why people come here--it's more convenient than going to a traditional piercing studio, which is often part of a tattoo shop and may have limited hours or not be located in Irvine. That said, you'll likely have a better overall experience at a professional piercing studio, with a wider selection of jewelry, more precise placement, and clearer guidance on healing. There are plenty of great options in Newport Beach, Laguna, or Costa Mesa. read more

The public restrooms are located across the way down a hallway so it's close by if needed. The staff is very informative, answers any questions especially is it's your first time getting a piercing like I was. The piercing area is clean and well organized and appreciated all the extra explanation afterwards. Will need to follow up in a few months to ensure proper healing, but it was quick for a single helix piercing. Recommend I'd getting first piercings, ears only. read more

We had such a great experience at the Studs location at the Irvine Spectrum! My husband and I went the day after Valentine's Day for me to get a few piercings. I had made an appointment, and from the moment we arrived, the staff was so helpful. They gave great suggestions based on what I wanted and what would work best with my ear anatomy. The shop had a really nice selection of earrings in both titanium and gold, which I appreciated. My piercer, Jaylen, was amazing. He was kind, professional, and had such a great vibe. He even let my daughter come back and hold my hand while I got pierced, which made her feel so included. She is 9 and not old enough to get pierced there yet, so that meant a lot to her. I ended up getting four piercings, third lobes on both ears and a double helix. Everything was done using clean and sterile technique, which I really value as a nurse. I felt completely comfortable the entire time. After I finished, my daughter thought it would be fun if my husband got his ears pierced too, and Jaylen was all for it. Absolutely love this place! We were greeted right away and the staff were so attentive. They answered our questions and addressed any concerns we had. I went in for a forward helix and the first thing they did was make sure that my anatomy was good for this particular piercing. After getting the okay, I went to select the jewelry I wanted. Our piercer was Jaylen and he was just amazing. So sweet and very professional. I asked his opinion on what side I should get the piercing and since I had a rook on my right (that I thought had closed) he suggested the left. I spoke about my rook and how bummed I was to have rook close and he checked it and told me that it was still open! He helped me pick out a piece for my rook as well and I loved what he picked. Came for a simple downsize of a lobe piercing but the piercer immediately grabbed my other piercings first (from other piercers) quite aggressively, without even asking first. It caught me by surprise so I reiterated I was there for the lobe piercing (because I thought she must've been mistaken and thought I was there for my helix). It would've been nice to have a heads up/have her ask for permission first as one of them was a new piercing and quite sore still so it hurt when she tugged at it. She continued to give me unsolicited advice in a pretty rude tone. She continued to say cleaning advice from other piercers was wrong and that I should push the piercing forward and back and clean it with a q-tip and not gauze -- which is a huge no no I've heard from multiple piercers. She made it seem as if I must've understood instructions incorrectly and that leave it alone actually means clean it 2-3x a day with q-tip. read more

I recently got a third lobe piercing here and I'm pretty disappointed with how it turned out. While the studio itself seemed clean, the execution of the piercing was not what I expected. Both my piercing were pierced at an angle causing it to appear droopy and not centered. I even went to a different location in San Diego to get a second opinion, and I was told that the piercing would likely heal at this angle which is not what I wanted and not what I expected from a professional piercing. I also sent an email to the studio a few days after my appointment expressing my concerns, and it has now been about two weeks with no response. That lack of follow up has been really frustrating. For something as simple as a lobe piercing, I expected better precision, especially since angle plays a big role in how it looks long term. Overall, I'm disappointed with both the result and the lack of communication, and I wish more care had been taken during the piercing process. read more

I came in about six months ago to get a piercing on my middle cartilage area. The stuff was nice, but not very informative when it came to aftercare or any questions that I had. After a while, my piercing seemed to not be healing and so I asked them if I could come in to get it looked at. They looked at it and told me that it would take a while to heal, but I could clearly tell that something was wrong because there was a bump growing in the back of my ear. Sure enough when I went to go see a doctor I was told that I should remove the jewelry because it possibly was causing problems. I paid over $400 for my piercing and the earring. ive been wanting to get both the daith and conch pierced on opposite ears for awhile now. i needed to wait til i was done with all my surgeries bc the healing times on these and others are 6+mos studs was always going to be the place i wanted to get them done but unsure of location i didnt make an appt but popped in saturday around 1130am i asked if they had availability for piercing, she said yea, their 1130am appt did a no show (not cool, please be respectful of ppl's time and cancel) its a small store but so many options!! the girl at the front was nice she was patient with me bc i asked her a ton of questions i told her i am unfamiliar with their brand of jewelry, so she explained it better instead of just spitting out terms i wanted to get the two piercings as it was $50 for the service + jewelry cost but they advised for me to get just the one bc of healing time and so i can sleep. it would have been okay to get two if i were getting it done on the same ear fineeeee. it was $35 for the service, i went with getting the daith pierced and opted for the plain titanium clicker ($45) Michelle was my piercer, she was phenomenal! she looked at the anatomy of my ear and said my ridge was good for the daith piercing..welp im committed now. Michelle was extremely nice and friendly. she had me sit on the chair and walked me through what she was about to do. also, she made sure i was breathing the entire time. AND gave me a stress ball JIC.. everything was clean and sterile. i felt comfortable during the entire process. i was in the chair for no more than 15mins. if you are contemplating on getting the daith piercing, do it. it is so cute. i love it! Michelle went over the after care. the only thing i wished they would include the piercing aftercare spray as part of the cost. its $12 extra .. I also purchased the bow cz dangle flatback stud in gold. i like their earring bc they offer flatbacks and plus they are really adorable parking: located at the irvine spectrum. same side as nordstrom fun fact: the pronunciation of daith is actually "doth" like moth. it comes from the Hebrew word for "knowledge" i totally said it wrong the entire time but the receptionist never corrected me LOL, i am sure she gets it all the time. she kept saying "doth" i was so confused . the more you know :D read more

DO NOT GET PIERCED AT STUDS. I was hospitalized and had surgery on my infected front helix piercings (both ears) and their waiver makes them liability-free no matter what happens. My doctor told me and my husband that I could've died, thats how bad the infection was and it was obviously close to my brain. I was in the hospital for 4 days, then had to stay home with a midline in arm for intravenous antibiotics for almost a month afterwards. If you get piercings anywhere, at least make sure their waive doesn't give them legal rights to do whatever they please. My piercer even took my cash tip with her gloved hands and didnt change them for the next customer, so I'm sure the infection was because of some type of contamination. (I have more than a dozen piercings and multiple tattoos that have never been infected, so this was not a user error.) read more

I went to Studs for a simple lobe piercing on each ear and left completely disappointed. First off, I was charged $121--and at no point did anyone clearly tell me that the piercing fee was per ear. I assumed (like most people would) that getting both ears pierced would be one service, not two separate charges just to use a needle twice. But the worst part? One of the piercings came out crooked. I paid premium prices expecting professional, precise work, and I walked away with an uneven result I now have to live with (or let close and redo elsewhere). I emailed customer service to explain what happened and ask for some kind of resolution--especially since I don't even want to go through the pain and stress of getting it redone--and I'll update this review if they respond appropriately. But for now, I'm really disappointed in both the lack of transparency and the poor execution. Not what I expected from a brand that markets itself as high-end and professional. read more

Horrible experience. I arrived as a walk in and was told the piercer was going on lunch so they would be gone for an hour but I'll get a text when they are ready. I didn't have an issue waiting an hour because it's at a mall so I could walk around. Before I left I confirmed that it would only be an hour and no need to make a formal appointment. Two hours passed so I went back. The guy at the front desk was very rude. I tried to explain that I had been waiting 2 hours when I was told only one but he kept interrupting me and blamed me for not making a formal appointment. I was leaving when less than 5 minutes later I get a text that it was time to get my piercing. I decided to go back since I had been waiting 2 hours. The guy at the front desk tries to give my spot to a lady who had just walked in. If I hadn't spoken up I would have had to wait for this lady who also didn't have an appointment to go first. I wish I could review the actual services or jewelry, but we walked out before we could get to that part. We walked in and they said it would be about 35 minutes before they could get to us. No problem, we walked around and came back in a half hour. The first bad sign was that I could see that several people who were waiting when we had first walked in were still waiting. The next bad sign was that they were no longer letting people get in line for piercings (and appointments were closed)- so they were telling people to come back in about an hour or another day. But we decided to wait. And we waited... and waited... and waited. It eventually became apparent that they only had one person actually conducting piercings (despite having three people working out front). After 40 more minutes of waiting a second piercer showed up so we thought things would finally get moving. Nope! As soon as the second person showed up the first one started cleaning up her station for the night. Not that we knew that right away. After 30 more minutes passed I asked one of the many front desk employees if she was taking more customers, and was told no. At that point, having already waited for an hour and 40 minutes after being told it would be about a third of that time, we decided to leave. The whole time we were inside (about 70 minutes) I think they called back two sets of people for piercings (one with each piercer). I have no idea how long piercings actually take, so I'm not going to fault the piercers. They definitely seemed to be rushing around and trying their best. I think it was the people at the front desk who wildly underestimated how long it would take to get to us. If we had been told upfront that it would probably take a couple of hours we would've made an appointment for another day. But instead we will NEVER be back. read more

i found out about Studs walking around on vacation. when i came back i was glad there was one near me and had to check it out for my 2nd and 3rd lobe piercings. i was a little nervous about placement and having a piercing with a needle for the first time because i previously got my 2nd done at claires a loonngg time ago and hated it. i made an appointment online (if you make an appt mon-thurs you get $15 off!) and came a little early to pick out jewelry. i forget her name but a super nice girl was helping me pick out which ones to get. i opted for the 14k gold for all 4 piercings. shortly later i was in the piercing room with Darin. he was awesome and made the experience super smooth. he walked me through exactly what was going to happen and made sure there were no surprises. he was very careful with placements, making sure the measurements were lining up and that i liked it. he guided me through the piercings, reminding me to breathe which helped tremendously. he also made sure i was super comfortable the whole time, telling me that there's no rush and we can have a little break between piercings if needed. he was so patient and kind during the entire process! all in all, i had a great experience and i would def come back again! read more

I came here asking for a conch piercing and they ended up persuading me into getting a "middie" piercing instead because they said my ear anatomy was not good for a conch. I just went with it because I figured the piercer knows best, until I literally went through the most painful piercing of my life. She struggled to get the needle through my ear and it did not feel like a normal piercing at all. This place is a joke. I came here for my second lobes in January. I made an appointment and when I came in they told me to wait until the piercer was ready, which isn't that the point of an appointment? I've been a walk in at other piercing shops and I've been attended quicker. Secondly the piercer took a good amount of time putting gel on my fly aways and even gave me hair clips, only to get a piece of hair stuck inside my piercing!! She told me to take it out at my own discretion, which I was scared to even touch the jewelry. Fast forward to a couple days ago I come in for a downsize and they tell me that the piercers have gone home for the day. It was getting late which is fair, but the lady would not sell me the downsize backing. She mentioned that she didn't feel comfortable selling me the downsize because it hasn't even been two months yet. Which it has... and she didn't even bother to ask when the piercing was done to verify. Her attitude was very unprofessional and unnecessary because I couldn't even buy the downsize to have another piercing shop closer to my house do it. read more

I got three piercings on Sunday (11/17/24). The girl that helped me pick jewelry was really friendly however she failed to mention that the 14k gold is only plated and not fully 14k gold, even after I had expressed my severe allergy to certain metals and that I only wear surgical grade or full 14k gold. I also purchased a hoop clicker for my healed cartilage piercing which they said was "perfect" for my ear. Also the jewelry selection kind of sucked and was underwhelming, just beware that you may leave not really loving the piercings because of the jewelry. Fast forward, get the piercings done and do the jewelry change. I have never experienced so much pain from piercings, swelling, bruising and just terrible experience (and no these were not my first piercings, prior to the new 3, I have my daith, cartilage, conch, first and second ear piercing, nose and belly). I was in so much pain I actually couldn't sleep the first night, the throbbing and general anxiety that the piercing was wrong was real. I also had to remove the hoop clicker that they said was "perfect" immediately because it cut circulation off on my ear and caused major issues. After researching on the studs website I found out that their 14k gold is actually plated and explains why I was having so many issues with the piercing healing. I ended up going to my usual piercing shop to have them look at it which they advised me the piercings were crooked, the backings that they put on were entirely too long and obviously the jewelry allergy was also a major problem. I have since reached out to their customer service as they only operate via email, don't even try calling the number they list because you will not speak to anyone or get any form of help. This is not a place I would recommend or go back to. I recommend finding a reputable piercing business or even a tattoo parlor that does piercings because you will get quality piercings and jewelry. read more
