My daughter had an appointment to get her hair done for her senior pictures at 9:00 and they called me at 8:55 to say the hairdresser did not show up and no one else is available to see her. I was furious - her senior pics - horrible horrible horrible - and that's nice. I went to Studio 1 Salon for partial highlights and a trim and had an appointment with Don. I'm glad I only paid the Groupon price as the customer service, stylist, highlights, and cut were below average. I appreciate that everyone has a bad day, but as I arrived and was waiting for my appointment I soon learned that my stylist was actually sitting next to me in the waiting area on the phone and chatting to other stylists. Upon moving to the chair for my appointment, Don not only took a call on his cell phone, but carried on chatting and finished in his own time. On to the hair... there wasn't much consultation on what I wanted done and it felt hasty and that he wasn't really interested in what I was looking for. The result was highlights much brighter and blonder than expected, as well as a crooked cut (I have straight hair) that I've since attempted to correct myself at home. I was offered the Groupon rate for the next appointment if I booked it prior to leaving, but needless to say I won't be going back. read more

I was very impressed with everything and everyone from the gals that answered the phone when setting up the appointment to when I came in for my hair appointment. I had an appointment with Joann for an up do for my friends wedding. Not only did she listen to everything I said, but she put her own creative twist on it making it absolutely perfect. I stopped counting how many compliments I received over the night. It was the first time I had been inside this salon. The outside is very misleading. The inside of the salon is very large, clean and open. The receptionist was very pleasant, like they were expecting me. You can tell the staff is happy to be there, and the clients leave happy. They have upped prices and are misleading customers to come in and see Tanya Micallef or Jaime Schwartz but they no longer work there. Studio One is not being honest about the fact they are n longer working there. So I am referring you to where they have opened there own Salons, it'sinside Phenix Salon Suites at 5826 N Sheldon Rd next to China Buffet and Radio Shack. I've been going to the salon at this location for almost 15 years. I wasn't particularly loyal but it was in a convenient location and took walk-ins. However for the last few years that it has been Studio 1, I've noticed a great improvement from the physical layout to the service. I can highly recommend Bridget, as she has always been warm, friendly and very eager to help. Just this weekend I called to get an appointment on a Saturday and found they were nearly fully booked (summer weddings or something), when I mentioned that I'd normally seen Bridget the receptionist told me she had an appointment at 3pm and they closed at 5pm. Bummer. But I was put on hold and a quick minute later I was told Bridget would stick around and fit me in. Awesome! She didn't mind that I changed my mind about how much I wanted trimmed off half way through either. The receptionist was kind and offered coffee or water when I walked in as well. You could certainly do worse for a salon. I can't speak to the nails they do there now as I've never been for that. read more

While the atmosphere was relatively pleasant, I had gone in for highlights and while applying what I thought was the lotion around my face, what he was actually applying was tint. I thought well, I'll go for it (as I had never tried a tint before) and later realized that the color he applied was nowhere near my "usual" color, leaving me with an entirely different color from my roots and out a couple of inches. Additionally, the cut was positively amateurish. The stylist was the previous owner no less. He left a huge section of hair longer than the remainder of the cut in the back. Absolutely unbelievable. Not only will I NEVER be returning, but I plan to go back and ask for a refund. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! read more

This was the biggest mistake. I came here because of them being mentioned best in Canton for hair salon. Quite the opposite. They messed up my color really bad. When I asked them to fix it they said they could not do it that day and I had to leave the next day on a business trip. The lady who sat next to me did not get the color that she wanted wither. They also would not work with me on the price that I had to pay at all. I would deffinetly cut this company from my list of places to ever go back to. read more

I made the BIGGEST mistake last night by going to "#1" salon in canton. Unfortunately I was an experimental bunny for 2 hours.... When it takes appr. 45 min to style a cut.... Women who cut my hair didn't know what she was doing at all!!! She knew only one thing how to say:"you have a thick hair..." Thick hair is NOT a problem as long as you KNOW what you are doing', on the other hand thing hair is, cause you have nothing to work with... I went from very long to very short cut and end up looking like 60 year old in my 20' s, what a transformation, man......! Everybody knows how to CUT hair, you don't have to be an expert on this. But if you are PRO, you have to know how to STYLE ANY type of hair and get excellent result to the customer... Will NEVER go there again! read more

I had cut and color there twice with Joanna. I was very happy the first time, however, on the second visit my hair was way over-processed and turned out very blond with white streaks throughout. The atmosphere in the salon was very unprofessional. I noticed that the stylists did a ton of chatting amongst themselves. Many of the staff there, including the owner are smokers and go out in a group every half hour or so to smoke. I noticed that my stylist was actually doing my hair in such a way as to plan for her smoke breaks and leaving me unattended for 15-20 minutes at a time (which is why my hair was over-processed). Basically, every half hour or so while I was there, over half the staff were gone on smoke breaks together. This is no way to run a business! I really wanted to like this place and gave them two chances. I assured myself that the first visit was an isolated incident........and all the ratings were so good! Bottom line: I would not go here again or recommend it to anyone. read more

Saw so many great reviews, decided to try it out despite it being a good 35 mins from my house. Got an email appt confirmation at 8 p.m. for a 9 a.m. appt for the next day with Brenda. Got there at 8:57 a.m. Went in at 9 a.m. At 9:05, a woman entered who clearly worked there. She was the receptionist (Torri) who proceeded to ignore me, no eye contact, no greeting - just went to her desk, about her business. No sign of stylist "Brenda" in sight. Asked receptionist- "are you the receptionist?" she says "yes, are you here for someone?" (why else would I be seated at 9 a.m. in their waiting area?). I said, yes, Brenda for a 9 a.m.. She said "Brenda's not here yet." (Figured that out.). 9:15 I ask "any idea where Brenda is?" Torri says "she's only 15 minutes late, so she'll be here soon". I said "any idea where she might be?" Torri says "her car isn't that great, or it could be the weather" (wet pavement) and turns around and walks away. It was like she was actually saying "your time isn't valuable, so just chill, the stylist will be here WHEN she's ready". So, I decided to leave. No word from Brenda. Torri calls my mobile at 9:30 "Not sure where you went, but heard from Brenda, she has a flat tire but she'll be here soon". Flat tire? Really? Come on. Honestly, how is this good, prompt professional service? Ignored by the receptionist (of all people! the only job is to TO GREET CUSTOMERS!) and then a no show from the stylist. Not great, Studio 1 Salon. Not great. read more
