It's a long story but basically the stylist Amy Ryan is extrememly rude. She was really nice while taking my money and her $50 TIPbut the second I had a concern about a treatment she got really defensive and rude and didn't want to have anything to do with me. She argued with me and I was overly nice to her but she made me feel really bad and was mean. I couldn't believe it. Especially since I was reffered to her. I've never experienced such an unprofessional person in my life. The salon is way over priced and stuck up and I would NEVER refer anyone there even if it was for a free service. read more

I had a disastrous haircut and color from another salon in costa mesa. Sadly, that salon DECLINED to see me to fix it the next day. Debra stepped in and saved the day. She fixed the color and the cut and she's been working with me, in a slow process, to fix what had been done to my hair long term. She saw me on short notice and since that first appointment, she has always accommodated my scheduling needs. Sometimes, it takes something bad happening to get a great experience. Cute salon and they use great products. The woman that cut my hair was very nice however, she didn't do what I asked. AT ALL. I asked for 2-3 inches off. She cut 5 inches. I showed her a picture and my hair doesn't even slightly resemble the picture. This is what I get for trying somebody new. I love this place! I get my hair colored and cut and get waxing all in one spot. Stephanie Winter is the best hair dresser! I came from a salon where you had to schedule with two different people to color, then cut your hair and getting both at the same time was a nightmare! Stephanie is talented in both areas and does it all!! I got Stephanie's name from a friend after I became obsessed with her ombré color. I'm very picky about my hair color and she has taken me from ombré to blonde and all over and it's always looked awesome! She will give you honest advice about what to do so you don't ruin your hair and she's turned me on to some great products that I love! Lindsay does my brows and they work together so that I get to get it all done in one visit! I highly recommend them both! Jenn Draeger is terrific! I first came to this salon for waxing with Lindsey which was amazing. She recommended Jenn as I was looking for a hairstylist and colorist. Jenn did such a great job on my color that I knew I had to go to her when I wanted to make a big change and cut my hair short. She spent 20 + minutes just answering my questions and going over my options before she even picked up the scissors. The result was fabulous! I've been going to Studio 486 for over 10 years and have had nothing but the best of service. Occasionally my stylist is running a little late, but due to late clients before me. I've never had a bad hair cut or color weave. The receptionist always offers me water or something to drink while I'm waiting which is a nice perk. Kara chopped off almost 4 inches of my hair that took me years to grow!!! I'm devastated. I clearly said 1 inch maximum like 100 times and I wanted straight hair. She did the complete opposite. She cut off all my gorgeous hair with highlights I had done elsewhere and left me with a short curly Brillo mess. I'm sooo so sad. When I asked to just re blow at least straight considering my hair is all gone now she said I had to pay again to fix HER mistakes!!! Omg. Am I in a twilight zone? I'm so devastated and confused. They won't refund my full $120 now I have to go spend $800 on extensions which is so bad for my thin hair and re highlight my hair and have the curling corrected. It's not going to be back to normal even after all that. Be careful! And I was fooled by the fake reviews. This place is also extremely cramped. Narrow walls and very claustrophobic. Update: today the manager called me to check my phone number then said she had the wrong number and started yelling at me and threatening me for leaving a bad review. read more

Brandy W. has been cutting my hair for years at this place. The salon is so cute! However, I've noticed over the years that it's a big soap opera there...and it's gotten to the point that the stylists all talk among one another and practically ignore the clients. Like other OC salons, it's common to get passed around to the assistants for the wash, etc. Several times I've asked for haircut advice when due for a change, and each time: Blank Stare. I've been meaning to write this review for the last few weeks about what an AMAZING waxer Lindsay Florek is!!!! I've been a client of hers for about 2 years now and she is the honestly the best brazilian waxer in Orange County, most likely in all of Southern California... And maybe in the world?! I originally met her at the Pretty Kitty in Costa Mesa and called to make an appointment a few months ago only to find out she was no longer there and was not given any information on where she went.Heartbroken does not even accurately describe how crushed I was. I refuse to see anyone but Lindsay! After quite a bit of googling and Internet stalking I stumbled upon her information and found her new home at the adorable studio 486!!! Lindsay is pretty much a waxing magician. You're in and out of there in about 15 minutes, she's so fun and personable you're totally distracted from what's going on, and she's so professional and efficient! I always brace myself for the ouch factor but waxing is as painless as it can possibly be with Lindsay. I can't sing her enough praises. The studio itself is adorable and my hairdresser Shawntel is amazing. We recently took my hair from brunette to almost white blonde and it was quite a process. The thing I liked best about Shawntel was that she was so real and honest about the process. She did not give me false expectations but told me upfront that the process would take multiple appointments over a few months. She did not go in and just bleach the crud out of my hair and get it all done in one fowl swoop...which she admitted would severely damage my hair.
