I went through a lot of dental issues a couple of years ago, and I am still scarred from my experience here. Basically, I had an old filling come loose. I had to come back again and again and while Dr. Ash is very nice, they caused me a ton of pain and money. It was all very confusing and they were not as good as they could have been throughout the process. Scheduling here was also very difficult for me, and I had to miss a ton of work because they kept making me come back. I ended up having another old filling break, and went to a different dentist. I happened to catch Dr.Ash on a day the office was closed and told him what was happening and he said "Come in, come in!" I first must say if you are into state-of-the-art gorgeous surroundings you will be in heaven. (I half expected a little robot to come out and greet me with a beverage:) Dr. Ash is the sweetest Dr., so kind and welcoming to my husband and I. He very thoroughly explained the problem, my options, and then since it was a late Friday afternoon and they don't open until 10 am on Monday he actually called his assistant at home to see if she would come in 2 hours early Monday so they could get me in. She said yes without hesitation (you usually don't do that unless you really have a great boss!) He was also VERY attentive to my inability to take narcotics and double checked the antibiotic and told me possible medication we would need to use Monday so I could clear it with my regular doctor. I was very grateful for this. I met a Doctor who loves his work and truly cares about his patients and will update my review as we go. So far.....two thumbs up!!! I literally drive from south Orange County to Studio City to see Dr. Ash. Dr. Ash has been my family's dentist for over 7 years. Dr. Ash never over-sells me on unnecessary procedures and truly cares about the dental health of his patients. Dr. Ash's dental technique is consistent to an artist. I rarely ever have pain because of his gentle touch and his understanding of the anatomy of nerves/pain centers in your mouth and gums. Dr. Ash always calls me the following day to check on my status. Dr. Ash employs great hygienists that have the same touch and skill as Dr. Ash and I use them for my routine cleanings. It was purely by accident that I became a patient of Dr. Ash! In fact, I have chosen to remain his patient despite the fact that he is an out-of-network dentist on my Anthem PPO policy because of his expertise and skill, and his office's professionalism, courtesy, and modern way of maintaining patient records and appointments. Initially I thought Dr. Ash was in-network on my insurance and so I made an appointment with his office for a cleaning because of the convenience of his office location to my house. My initial impression when checking-in was positive. Dr. Ash is a really friendly, younger dentist with a penchant for all the latest state-of-the-art gadgets and dental equipment to compliment the latest advances in dental care. A very nice assitant took my x-rays, which appeared instantly in electronic format on the large computer monitor in front of me. The special software this office uses for x-rays allows Dr. Ash to zoom in and out to see (and show the patient) the exact area of cavities, etc., as opposed to relying on old-school 1.5" films that are more difficult to read. Dr. Ash perfomed the cleaning himself, was gentle, informative about what to expect, and relatively fast. My teeth looked about 2 shades whiter from just the cleaning alone. Turns out, I had a few cavities that required filling and before I was even out of my chair from my cleaning, Hootan, Dr. Ash's office manager, came in with a comprehensive print-out of all the work I required, the costs, the anticipated insurance coverage, and a suggested schedule for maximizing my appointment times. This is where I determined that Dr. Ash was not in-network for me, and although this meant my financial exposure would be slightly higher with him than with an in-network dentist, both Dr. Ash and Hootan worked with me to come up with a fair arrangement making it more compelling for me to stick with them. The only potential deal breaker for me would have been if Dr. Ash didn't have any non-conventional business hours because I can't be skipping lots of work for cavity fillings, etc. I was hoping they were open on Saturdays, but turns out, they're open late on Mondays - until 9 p.m.! Even better! Who wants to waste a weekend at the dentist?! Within a week I had my first Monday evening appointment. My appointment was at 6:30p.m. for two fillings. Dr. Ash and his assistant were all ready when I arrived, offered me my choice of music to stream on pandora (makes a huge difference to listen to music while you're having your teeth drilled), turned the 'massage' funtion on my chair, and we're done with everything, and I was on my merry within one hour. I was really impressed. I'm not scared of the dentist, but was pleasantly surprised at how uneventful Dr. Ash makes fillings. Apart from the general annoyance of having to keep your mouth open, neither the shot, nor the procedure hurt in the slightest. Since that appointment, Hootan keeps in touch with me by email, which I MUCH prefer to games of phone-tag, is always very kind and inquiring of how I'm doing, and thinking of helpful ways to make my appointments with Dr. Ash more convenient and productive, so I'm not wasting time. I also get 'reminder' text messages, which are optional, but I love. I really like that Dr. Ash's practice is current with the latest dental care, modern, and tech savvy - the fact that they're nice and pleasant to chat with and are 2 minutes from my house, makes it even better! read more

I can speak highly of the staff at Studio Dental. They are consistently friendly and highly competent. I have also undergone successful, expert treatment at Studio Dental including cleaning and significant dental care performed by Dr. Alexander Ash. However... On July 8th, 2016 I sat in a dentist's chair to undergo deep dental cleaning in my upper right jaw. Dr. Alon Frydman, performed the procedure at Studio Dental, the offices of Dr. Alexander Ash located in Studio City, CA. I include Dr. Ash in this complaint only because he (1) highly recommended Dr. Frydman to me and assisted in incorrectly diagnosing my reaction to Dr Frydman's treatment. I had undergone deep cleaning by Dr. Frydman for three quadrants in my mouth previously but after the fourth appointment (7/8/16), I began to experience intense, increasing pain that spread in a net from the traumatized jaw across the entire right side of my face. The salivary gland became infected (parotitis), swelled painfully, and thick, brown pus oozed constantly into my mouth and throat. Accidents do happen, but as my post-op symptoms worsened, Dr. Ash and Dr. Frydman continued to underestimate my deteriorating condition. When I visited the office Ash and Frydman appeared confused; in my estimation, they had no idea how to treat my traumatized mouth and jaw. After what appeared to be a guessing game, Drs Frydman and Ash threw random prescriptions at me (including a scrip for shingles!) and seemed eager to get me out the door. For three weeks I lay immobilized; my daily life disappeared. I could sleep upright for 30 minutes at a time and often woke choking on the pus from the infected salivary gland. I became dehydrated from the impaired ability to open my jaw, and could only spoon soup or cooked cereal between my locked jaws. None of the prescribed medications solved anything. As my symptoms increased, Dr Frydman, having no apparent remedy, suggested I go to USC to the Ostrow School of Dentistry [USC Medical report available]. Altho Frydman described the USC dentists as heads of departments, I was examined by an assistant professor and a pre-doctoral resident. After two visits, the consultants at USC prescribed more ineffective medications, raising false hopes of pain relief and recovery and extending my condition. Finally, my personal doctor (NOT a dentist) diagnosed my condition and explained it clearly to me for the first time (neither Dr Ash nor Dr Frydman, nor the advisors at USC seemed capable of doing this). My personal doctor prescribed powerful antibiotics and painkillers and within days, the symptoms began to recede. Nearly two years later, I have almost completely recovered from the speech impediment caused by the effects of Dr. Frydman's surgery but I still experience symptoms consistent with the original trauma. If you are considering anything beyond cosmetic dental work at Studio Dental, I would be very wary of Dr Alon Frydman. read more

I've been meaning to write this for some time but finally doing it. When Dr Ash took over my previous dentists office I was, to say the least... a bit nervous. I had been with my previous dentist for about 20 years and didn't know anything about this new young guy. Over time I got to know him, as well as everyone on the staff. Walking into his offices you first notice how spotless and bright it is. The staff is super friendly and accomodating. I've now been with him about 10 years? Or at least from the first days of his practice at that location and I have never looked back. I can honestly say that he's the best ...and he's done so much work redesigning the office and equipment to bring it to the top notch state of the art tech available today. Where do I start. I'm an Aussie living in LA and lucky for me I just searched a local dentist as I needed a checkup/clean. My father is a dentist. One of the most accomplished dentists... in the country of Norway. So I'm spoiled when it comes to dental care. A couple of days ago, I had a few emergency issues with my teeth. A cracked front crown and a cracked first molar. Extremely painful and visually disturbing. I couldn't wait for my next trip back home to Norway to take care of this. A friend referred me to Dr. Ash. He accommodated me that same day. Squeezed me into his already busy schedule and fixed both teeth. I look and feel like new again. The entire experience was efficient, pleasant and impressive from the moment I stepped into his office. State of the art equipment, excellent explanation of my options and all procedures performed including cementing a crown, pulling a cracked tooth and preparing it for a tooth implant, was done with the utmost comfort. I have had cleanings, exams, fillings, a crown, and a tooth extraction at this office -- always a great experience, as painless as a dental visit can be. A few specific kudos: * Dr. Ash explains things well, and he has always been very patient with my (many) questions. He also has great "people skills" which some dentists don't bother to learn. * I recently had him pull one of my wisdom teeth. That went very well, but here's what was remarkable: he called me that evening to follow-up and see how I was doing, which I don't recall a dentist ever doing before. That was very considerate. * I especially want to note that Dr. Ash gives the most painless Novocain shot I've ever had. (With other dentists, those often hurt more than the rest of the procedure.) Finally, I want to mention that the two ladies at the front desk (I hope they forgive me for not remembering their names off-hand) are always cheerful, friendly, and helpful. This dentist office is AWESOME! I went in Thursday to get my mercury fillings removed and filled with a white composite. I am 26 yo, and havent been to a dentist in 10 years...that morning, I got a shot at the doctor's office (unrelated)...I almost cried...over a shot! So you can only imagine how afraid I was to recieve the local anastesia! Mr. Ash (My name is Ashley, btw, which is why I chose this place) was such a great comforter and the shot was very bearable! I have been seeing Dr. Alexander Ash et al for many months. My situation was dire to say the least. Most of my teeth---not to upset or disgust anyone---were in the process of severe decay. I was in perpetual pain whenever I drank anything cold or hot; my teeth were brittle, sensitive. I often could not sleep at night due to headaches/toothaches. Then I walked into the Studio Dental one day and very knowingly recognized a familiar face: it was one of my best friends that I had growing up (from a long time ago), back in high school, back even into junior high when I first met Dr. Ash. So Dr. Ash, now as an adult became my dentist; I became his adult patient . The issue, however was, that, I had a severe dental problem: I needed to have a total reconstruction of my smile . I got more extractions than is proper to mention in a yelp review, but I will tell you this...with that difficult process behind me, I can say .Dr. Ash has not only given me "a" smile; he has given me a reason to smile at all. Now Studio Dental, from what I understand, was opened a few years ago. Some staff changed I think (I may be wrong), but regardless, I became particularly well acquainted with Randi, the officer manager/receptionist, as well as Dr. Alexander Ash's warm and professional assistant, Didi, who both helped me through the reconstruction of the architechtonic of my dire "dental predicament" Never was I in unremitting pain under Dr. Ash's care. Never was I afraid under his expertise. He answered any question that I had. He called me to see if I was holding up ok. He did everything that I think of that was in spirit of the Hippocratic Oath, which means that Dr. Alexander Ash, though a friend that I knew from before he was a dentist, dealt with me within his profession with honesty and integrity. Studio Dental is simply amazing. There is entertainment , music, television as well as a hi-tech equipment that is clearly state of the art, that is much to your benefit as a dental patient. In short, you are safe and well-taken care of at Studio Dental. You have nothing to fear. As for me, I no longer have a brooding face with bad teeth but have transformed into a person who is finally not afraid to smile. To me, that's what sets Dr. Ash apart from other dentists: he doesn't "just care," he's with you every step of way----whether you're getting just routine checkup, a cleaning or getting complex reconstructive surgery like I did in my situation. Dr. Ash and his office are a great crew. Most people do not like to sit in a dentist chair, I am no exception to that rule. However, they make it as nice as it can possibly be. Very kind staff.
