Love the theater; however, as a place to eat- not so much. I got the chicken fajita salad and asked them to add bacon, and it went downhill from there. The waiter apparently didn't have a button for bacon, so he entered extra avocado, and made a note that the kitchen didn't see. It wasn't a bad experience & the food was decent but I was shocked at how unkempt it was. You couldn't get more than 2 squares of toilet paper off of the roll at a time & the bathrooms were dirty. In the theater the chairs weren't clean ... needed to be wiped down but the cup holders were the worst part! All the crap that had been spilled in them was still there ... a month after opening I'm not surprised with how it's gone but it they can clean it up a little it'll be a great place. read more

My husband and I bought our tickets online for the Friday night 8:00 showing of Jurrasic World in 3D. The server got to us quickly after we pessed our button, but that is where the efficient service stopped. I ordered a glass of wine, water and the Margherita Pizza. My husband ordered water and the California Burger. My wine came out quickly, but we had to ask two more times for water. Our food came out and still no water. We also did not recieve any napkins or silverware. By the time we did get water the movie was half over and a server had dumped half a glass of water in my husband lap. No napkins were brought to him to clean up. Our food was pretty good. My pizza could have been brought out hotter, but the taste was good. The movie it's self was great and the servers did a great job of ducking down to not interrrupt the movie. We may try it again one more time, but service needs to be sped up. It shouldn't take 45 minutes to get a water. read more

I was a concerned about going here due to the terrible reviews. Fortunately, we had a great experience. The service was excellent. Thank you, Tim McGraw! We shared chicken strips plus chips and salsa. There were three good size pieces. We were disappointed that the sauce we ordered wasn't a doing sauce. Instead the strips were drenched in it. It was tasty but not what we expected. Chips and salsa were good, too. Pricy though. BONUS INFO: there is no 30.06 posting! Awesome! It was very clean and comfortable. Best movie experience ever just happened. ;) I decided to take a mommy time out and catch a movie with my sweet new baby boy. Not even halfway through the movie, my sweet little bundle got reflux and vomited all over me. Of course I had a change of clothes for him but I was left to sit there in a soaking top. I asked my server for some extra napkins and if they might by chance sell any shirts there, she informed me that they didn't and I think her and did the best I could to clean up. About five minutes later she came back, having hunted down a SMG T-shirt for me! I got to finish my movie, my meal and my first date with my sweet little man. When we told the manager he told us he would fix the nail but he would do nothing about the brand new shirt being ripped because of their nail. This is very rude especially the way he said it. Food was great. Service... It's ok, wouldn't tip over 15% Drinks (better luck with smuggling your own stuff in) were poor quality. Some drinks were watered down (so was their tip), fountain drinks were off (syrup, carbonated water ratio) either too flat or no flavor. So I was really excited about finally seeing Black Widow and eating my favorite sweet potato fries with, or course RANCH. well I was very saddened when I had to pick through my cold hard fries to find one I would eat... I dipped it in my ranch and by the smell alone I knew somthing was wrong... so I had to be that annoyong person in the movie theater and TURN MY PHONE LIGHT ON to see what it was I was about to EAT. yellow nasty film on top of the ranch looked to me like it had been sitting out for hours before someone thought it was a good idea to serve to a paying customer!! Nope. So I'll try my coconut chicken... two bites I'm not happy I try the other one... I couldn't believe it... old... like someone ordered it hours ago.... WHY do you serve this to people?? They must not care. I work in the food industry and I take PRIDE in serving the customers that come into my place of work to eat the food we make them. We want them to leave full and happy! If I could give no stars I would. We visited this Movie grill last night and it was the worst experience we had. The waitress didn't know the menu well just to explain a coupe of questions we asked. The popcorn we ordered was cold and stale. We asked for at least hot fresh popcorn and were brought back the same bowl which I think they just stuck under a heat lamp. I ordered a Dr Pepper and I got a flat soft drink. They switched out the soft drink three different times before a waiter came over and said the machine was broken and they were trying to get it fixed. Where do I begin. So we get there early so we decided to order some drinks. My husband had a margarita I had a dirty martini and my son had a mixed drink. Cheese fries are delicious!This is my movie spot. Since I have been here I haven't been to another movie theater. It's nice, the seats are comfortable, and they have good food. Now let's be understandable since most of the complaints are about the service. You can't please everybody. If I could choose zero stars, I would. Third time having the worst service possible. Our server entered our meal incorrectly. Instead of someone coming and telling us, our two children went without food until most of the theater had been served and most attendees finished eating. I called for service and was told they were working on it. After the second call they realized the error. We were not offered anything for them to eat while waiting for their original order and no discount was given for the ridiculously poor service. Having never been here before and hearing great things of this establishment, my expectations were high. Me and a friend figured to watch Avengers:Endgame at the best place in Tyler according to Yelp reviews; unfortunately, they were inaccurate. First the girl that sold us the tickets which was probably the 2nd best thing, the first being the movie. After purchasing the tickets, nobody directed us to the room of the movie which was at the end of a hallway that was at the end of another hallway this place seemed like a maze. Of course it could have just been the excitement to watch the movie. Once we get to our seats we get attended and request our drinks, then we pressed the button to order. I ordered the shredded chicken nachos and a Mountain Dew and I was disappointed. First the drink is brought to me warm, literally warm as if they poured it and put the ice right when they handed the drink to me. Then the nachos which came about 8 to 12 minutes into the movie. I thought maybe this will make up for the warm drink that I received. I was wrong for goodness sake, I have had better nachos at Taco Bell. This experience would not have been bad if I had not just paid 17 dollars on a warm drink that never got refilled and cold nachos. This was most definitely an unfortunate event. To top it all off the chair would not stop cracking no matter what. Maybe this was just a bad day for them but I hope that my next time here is not similar, that is if I ever come back to this establishment. read more

Love the seating and the service. Great popcorn with butter on the side to apply at will. Shrimp quesadillas were excellent. At waiter's recommendation, substituted fries for tortilla chips. Fries were a great choice. The only downside for us were the cocktails. Where is the booze??? I had a horrible experience here last Friday night 3/15/19. I drove from Garland, TX for my birthday to meet a friend to go see a movie. I am confined to a wheelchair so I was need a handicap seat. The guy at the front said all the handicap seats were taken but another employee who was standing beside him says that it is their policy to ask people who are not disabled to move if they have someone with a disability needs that spot. They called the manager up to the front and explained the situation and the manager looked at me and said "I am not going to ask someone to move if they purchased a handicap seat even if they are not handicapped." This manager has no business being a manager of a movie theatre and treating disabled customers like myself in this disrespectful way. I plan on going above his head and reporting them to BBB. read more

Movie almost always starts 10-20 minutes after the showtime. Which I guess is good if you're usually late. The wait staff varies SO MUCH. The girl who took our order was great. The kitchen screwed up the order. The person who brought the order seemed annoyed when told that it wasn't done right. And then, and then there was Reid. Closed out our ticket/tab when it was barely half way thru the movie. We ordered the 2 for $28 which makes desserts you order $5. Pushed the button. Reid comes over. Tell him we wanna order a dessert. He gets all exasperated. Says that we'll need to open a new tab cuz the other one was closed out. Didn't offer to add anything to it. Almost got done ordering and it occurred to me that if the 2 for $28 wasn't on the ticket it might affect the price of the dessert. I ask Reid if the dessert will still be $5 as offered thru the deal. Attitude gets had by Reid and says no it won't be $5 it'll be full price. Again, not offering to change our original ticket that HE closed out way too effing early. I suppose this is really more of a rant about this specific waiter. read more

I have enjoyed myself here on a few occasions, but would deffinitly warn people to be sure and ask the price of any drink before they order. I went this evening, and since I was celebrating my birthday decided to have a glass of scotch. Since they don't carry my preference brand (Glenlivet) I ordered a Mcallan 12yr. When I received the check I discovered that they charge $20 for a single shot of 12 yr scotch. When I questioned this and asked to speak to a manager about why they are charging as much as most restaurants charge for a 25yr I was told they can mark up their drinks as much as they want. We got the worst server ever after watching Jurassic World tonight. First off, it shouldn't take 50 minutes to receive chips and guacamole when everyone around us who ordered burgers and fries way before us received their order. When we caught their attention the first time around, after 25 minutes, the server said he will check on it but never came back. Fifteen minutes later I decided to call for service once again and our original server told us he lost our ticket (how does that happen when it is all electronic?!). He comes back and slams our glasses on our trays and 10 minutes later brought our CHIPS AND GUACAMOLE to the table. He had the audacity, after 50 minutes of bringing our order to us, to charge for everything. Then when we talked with the manager, our server thought it was appropriate to stand there and defend himself in front of the manager like he did nothing wrong. His excuse was, "you got food didn't you?" This is the most inexcusable and unprofessional environment I have ever been around. I have always enjoyed Studio Movie Grill, and being that they have only been open for a couple of months, this is my third and last time to support such an unprofessional movie theatre. I will gladly give my money to the other movie theaters that have better reputations than Studio Movie Grill, including Hollywood Movie Theatres. read more

Awful, awful, awful. I read the bad reviews, but we decided to try our luck. We ordered food and appetizer at the same time. An HOUR later, we'd received nothing. So we pushed our call buttons, and a waitress came out and we asked what was going on-- she seemed unconcerned, and said she was "sure it's coming." Twenty minutes later, we pushed the button again, since the movie was nearly over at that point. Our waitress came out and said she had "held the entrees, so they wouldn't come out with the appetizers," but we'd still not received either one. I told her to cancel our order, since the movie was almost over... She said the pretzels were ready, it was "next up," and I agreed to have her cancel the entrees and just bring the appetizer. Yet another 20 minutes later, they started clearing plates and bringing checks to other customers. The movie was wrapping up, so my husband went out and told them to cancel everything. He spoke with the manager who apologized (helpful, but we'd prefer decent service instead) and showed him the ticket with only our drinks on it and all food removed since we didn't actually get to eat anything. Ten minutes later, we received a ticket with the drinks AND THE APPETIZER on it. They'd just showed him the correct ticket out in the lobby and then brought is the wrong one! So it's two hours later, and we've missed a significant portion of the movie trying (unsuccessfully) to get food and pay for only what we received. We will never be back. Ever. Look Cinemas in Addison is an hour further than SMG, but has overstuffed leather recliners, delicious food, and fantastic service... We will continue driving out to Addison when we want a movie/dinner experience. read more

Got some excuse kitchen was backed up but would be out soon. 30 minutes later still no food by now movie is over halfway over. The food was decent but not great certainly not worth a 2 hour wait and movie nearly order before getting the food. They did end up comping the meal since it took so long which is I did give them the one star. Hardly worth it though when you have kids who want to see a movie so they dont want to leave. DO NOT GO TO THIS STUDIO MOVIE GRILL IF YOU'RE WANTING TO EAT. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I will most likely NOT be going to this SMG again. I have been waiting tables for years and I never have had such a terrible dine in experience on the other side as a customer facing such lack of order and customer service from servers. We ordered our meal and our waters never came out. We were thirsty and asked FOUR different servers for something to drink and finally about 30 minutes later AFTER we had managed to finish our meals, they brought out water. I wanted to order a dessert and someone who was not our original server came up to me and told me that because I only had "30 minutes" before the movie ended and that they had already ran every servers check out (meaning no one was able to ring our orders) I was not able to order the Nutella beignets. Another server said I could. Minutes passed, nothing. Another server said I could not. Then another said she would check. After talking to about FOUR different servers, a previous one came up to me and still refused to serve me dessert. She said that the kitchen couldn't make it in time for it to be ready and for me to eat it within 30 minutes. I told her that was okay and asked if I could take it to go. She gave the most annoyed look and said I could eat them in the lobby. About 10 minutes later the dessert came out, and guess what? I finished it BEFORE the movie ended. I've been to SMG before, great vibe, great place to have a nice evening, but this location is terrible. They definitely need new management or ownership because things are definitely out of order, and they do not understand how to provide guest compromise meaning offering an alternative option to where the guest still feels welcome and the issue is resolved. Single worst film viewing experience of my life. Going into it I was optimistic, the ticket counter utilized great service and hospitality. Our waitress was friendly. Then the movie started. I never received my food and neither did the group of people next to me or behind me. The film showing in an adjacent theater was rattling our walls and screen due to what I can only assume was poor construction. The cup holders were completely disgusting and have obviously never been cleaned. TL;DR Nice theatre for watching movies but terrible service. We ordered a popcorn, waters, a mudslide and a scotch. The popcorn was burned. The scotch they were out of. The mudslide we sent back as it was foul. The waters were (shockingly) fine. Instead of the mudslide my wife ordered a Dr Pepper. We pushed the call button and it took 25 minutes for someone to show up. We had to call again after 20+ minutes to ask about the Dr Pepper and it finally showed up. There were 8 people in the theatre and the staff kept trying to deliver orders to us that were meant for others. The one high point was the ticket taker (whose name I forget). He was very friendly and welcoming. The staff are in serious need of training. I'd rather drive the extra hour and a half to Dallas to get great service at a different theatre. I ALWAYS go to SMG, in Dallas & Houston; I just recently learned Tyler had one, so I scheduled for my husband and I to have date night 8/16/19. We chose the 10:45PM movie, due to my traveling, to make sure I made it to Tyler in time. We get there, everything was nice, until the movie starts and we get our food. The movie was WAY to loud, and I hope you had other complaints about that... it was unbearably loud. I am DEATHLY allergic to dairy, I explained that to the waiter, and of course my strips came out with dairy ranch dressing that was spilled over in the food. I apologized to the waiter ( FOR THEIR MISTAKE), but I didn't want any problems.... when they brought me another plate of strips, 2 of them were burnt. My husband being the kind heart he is insisted that I STILL give a tip, even if it is only the minimum. Having said that, I will not suggest for us not to come again, or ANYBODY in my friends & family to not go. I am not sure if whoever played the movie had the sound up that loud, to have a little laughter, but it was not funny at all. read more
