I went there last Sunday afternoon when i got my bill which was given to me in the dark I found that it was incorrect and was getting charged too much. So I had them correct the bill then I find out that they charged me twice once for the wrong amount and once for the corrected amount. $75.00. Like a team of monkeys chasing a greasy football on a muddy field... Pathetic. Ordered food and drinks at our seats, before the show started. 20 minutes into the show with what seemed like 40 people milling about selling and serving those all around us, my ladyfriends entree shows up... No drinks and my popcorn did not come either.. I pushed the button and some 10 minutes later someone finally came and learned our order was incomplete. Another 10 minutes goes by and they showed back up with cold seriously over-salted popcorn and sweat dripping drinks, ice half melted. Aside from dropping the ball on our order, all the servers milling about it's no different than sitting at home trying to watch a movie with my brothers kids in the room. I will never go back... Theater was nice and service was ok. We were really excited about seeing the new James Bond movie "No Time to die", but for some reason 10 out of touch parents brought all their kids under the age of 5 to the movie with them and not sure why they were allowed to do that. It was really awful and disruptive a detracted from the movie. We feel we wasted our money because we didn't hear half of the movie because kids were running up and down the stairs and screening and crying. No bone did anything and some people had to move to lower levels so they could enjoy the movie. First really sad that the parents didn't take their babies or kids ours when they started screaming and that movie theater allowed this. Will never go again, you lost my business. read more

I have been back several times to this location since my initial review. Service has improved and the food quality is better. They are an Atom theatre, which means they support the Atom app. Seats are comfortable and really the last few films we have seen have been there. This was NOT the best movie experience that I have had. Before coming into the theater I went to the bathroom And witnessed one of the kitchen works use the bathroom and not wash his hands. So food was out of the question before even sitting down. When I got to my seat in the theater it was dirty with drink spills on the armrest and in the cup holders. The movie also started late. When you call they state they are open 1 hour before the first show. I just waited 30mins in the heat because this wasn't correct. The person who finally opened the doors didn't even apologize for the delay. So call and make sure they are open before wasting your time. Normally a great location and place. read more

We used to be fans of SMG. Not anymore. Went last Wednesday, tried to order food, they were out of what we wanted. Again. That seems to happen half the time. The food has always been average, as was the service but now if we want it, we can't have it. They frequently run a house wine promo. Five times in a row they advertised the promo on their site and had no qualifying wine (no substitutions per management). The first three times we upgraded to much more expensive chardonnay. They fourth time we ordered water and complained. The last time we requested that the manager refund all our money and went to Bernard's and had a nice dinner instead. The manager told us corporate runs the promo and doesn't send them wine. I told him that I wouldn't be back. I used to tip 20+ percent but since they went to a mandatory upcharge for the tip, I've come to feel ripped off. read more

My wife and I went to Studio Movie Grill tonight for our first date night in "who knows when" (which you're not allowed to say if a child/children haven't stolen all of YOUR free time, also). She got home from work late, so we were limited on the movies we could watch based on our old-person schedules. If I didn't mention before (I know I haven't because I'm writing this all at once), this is also going to double as a review for the movie we saw. Skip the next two paragraphs to get to the food. We had the following choices: Red Sparrow, or Annihilation. For the record, I wanted to see Jumanji. I don't think I could have fathomed listening to Jennifer Lawrence talk with a fake Russian accent for 2 hours (though gauging by the trailer she's naked A LOT in that movie), so luckily my wife wanted to see the sci-fi (horror?) film Annihilation. It gets 2 stars. Frankly, the movie tried really hard to be "smart". The crack team of women that go into the "shimmer" are 3 scientists and a psychologist, and randomly enough, a Paramedic (shout out!). But aside from showing cells replicating over and over, there wasn't a lot of intellectual bite. The action was minimal, and the amount of eardrum rupturing "alien bass noise" was about 20 minutes of the movie it seemed. The plot was shaky, and ended ridiculously, but the acting was pretty good. NOW. The actual SMG review. All of the staff there were great, no complaint. It was Tuesday (we cray, y'all) so they had some alcohol specials. My wife got a glass of wine, she said it was good. Well poured from the bottle, chaps! I got the *special* $5 Long Island iced tea. It was the weakest alcoholic beverage I've ever had in my life. How is that possible with a Long Island? I've had sweet tea hit harder than that Long Island. Next up we ordered 2 $5 appetizers. I got the 1/2 order chicken nachos which were ok, minus the fact that there was, no joke, ONE piece of grilled chicken on my nachos. My wife got the chips and spinach dip. She said it was pretty good. ENTREE TIME. I got the coconut chicken tenders, with fries. I liked it, no complaint, tenders were yum, and the honey mustard was tasty too. HEALTHY FOLKS: My wife got the Arcadian salad? Acadia? Idk it was the last salad on the list. Act like it doesn't exist. She said there was supposed to be a bit of fruit in it, nope, it was just a jumble of the most bitter vegetation. Her dressing was not a liquid. She couldn't even "pour" it on her salad. It was, by my estimation, a paste made of grass clippings. I was under the impression that people put dressing on a salad to make it not taste like salad, and this salad was salad inception. My wife tricked me into trying it, and I concur, it was mortar-and-pestle ground grass clippings. I am gonna assume this salad was made incorrectly, as nobody in their right mind would have eaten it, as is. To summarize, here are my ratings: Movie: 2/5 Service: 5/5 Alcohol: 3/5 Food: 2/5 (maybe we got unlucky) Since I am bad at quick math I'm gonna give this trip to SMG 3 stars. The movie tickets are affordable so that's a huge plus and one of the main reasons I continue to go. However that being said, I don't eat when I go. I might get a beer or a dessert but the biggest issue I have are the "specials". They are supposed to have a special everyday wether it's $5 desserts on Thursdays or $11 Endless Pizza on Monday's, when the ticket comes the prices are always wrong and you can never get a waiter to come back after they drop the ticket. That's honestly the main reason I won't eat an actual meal when I go, if they would actually honor their prices I might go for an entree next time. read more

This is our go-to movie theater...not because it's perfect, but it's the best of the four options in Tyler. The good: location, fairly new, good food, and friendly servers. And now the bad....turn up the freaking previews!!Seriously. You can't hear them. Servers loudly take orders. And since the previews are so quiet, it encourages people to just keep talking through them. I heard another customer ask if there was something wrong with the sound; the server responded that the volume would increase when the film starts. WTF? Some customers actually want to see and HEAR the previews. You would think a movie theater would want people to see what movies are coming. Seems like it would be good for future business?! Some child with a moron for a parent allowed them to keep a phone (or maybe even a freaking iPad mini) lit up the whole time they ate so that she could see her phone. Nice for little snowflake, but not so nice for the 75 people or so behind them! (It's not so dark that you can't see your food!!) After a half hour or so of being distracted by their screen, I stepped out to see if an employee could ask them to turn off their phablet. They did nothing, just like the umpteen servers who had witnessed it did. I guess they were too afraid to risk losing a tip. The seats get grimy from the food not being cleaned up real well. And probably half of the bathroom stalls don't line up, so won't latch. We may have to check out Times Square next time.... read more

Jan 14, 1015am movie (started late): seats are large and slightly tilted back, swing out tables, call buttons. Server nice, too soft spoken, had hard time hearing her (I did have on my hearing aids, movie was not on). Ordered off $25 for 2 menu but they charged us as individual items for $41. When I questioned the charge, they corrected it - be careful about your food bill. Star Wars (way too long and drug out, was actually looking forward to it ending-not theaters fault). However, volume was so high I wish I had hearing protectors, may or may not be theater's fault. There were 6 other people in the theater, so everyone who went to Star Wars and were packed in shoulder to shoulder, eat your hearts out OR go to a 1015 am movie on Sunday morning. But even crowded, the seats are well spaced, large and comfortable. read more

It was bound to happen eventually. I had a disappointing experience at the Studio Movie Grill. A little background - I live an hour away from Tyler so the trip back and forth to see a movie, in my case older films which I already own, means I really need motivation to make that trip. Before tonight it has been worth it. Cheap tickets ($5), seat reservations and reasonably priced good food. So what went wrong? I reserved a seat to Psycho a week ahead of time to get perfect center seating, again part of what makes the trip worth it. I got to the theater, I order my food, my food arrives and the movie starts... and then there is audio issues and the movie freezes. They stop the movie and tell us there is issues they are trying to fix. We wait about 15 minutes till we are told that the movie is being switched to a smaller screen and we can either move to it or get a refund. Also he says that we will have to shift out rows down one row for each person to make sure all the peoples seating are right in the smaller screen. So people start to file out and i because I have to get help with the two plates and drink I already received I was last in the second screen. Wouldn't you know it the crowd basically in the front kept their seats, the back row kept theirs and that means all the rows in between merged where my row would have been. So there was no seat approximate to the seat I reserved. I was left with the option to sit near the sides of the theater, choose a center seat close to screen or get a refund. I chose a refund. Let me make this clear the staff did what they could to make things kosher, the ticket was refunded, the meal was on the house (though I think they lost my plate cause it took around 20 minutes to get the to go box to me) and they gave me a coupon for a free movie. I understand that they didn't want to tell 3 rows of people to move so that one person could get the seat they reserved, that could have caused a scene. Though considering the only reason I drive a two hour round trip to see a movie is if I can have the seat I reserve and have a good experience I still left disappointed with the whole thing. read more

Emma is only being offered at two showtimes--at night. It's a film women will want to see. It's spring break and my sister and I wanted to go see it while we were out shopping today, but I was surprised there was no showtimes for the midday. It would be nice I'd you accommodated for that and offered at least one matinee showing of films like this. We come here quite often and for the most part we are happy with our visits. For $14.00 my order came with 8 tiny wings and carrot and celery sticks, for an additional $3.00 I received a small order of cold fries. The only thing I like about this theater is how nice and huge the rooms are. The seats are ok. Better than most theaters I've been to. The food is disgusting. And expensive. You can get better food at any gas station. That's pretty sad. The water tastes nasty. Like drinking pond water. And. I don't know about y'all. But. I got pretty annoyed whenever the waiters/waitresses keep walking in front of you when you're trying to watch the movie. I like the idea of food brought to you. Sad this is the only option in Tyler to see a movie and eat. Had a bad experience here last year and let it slide. Then the terrible customer service happened again tonight. Management here is the problem. It takes a lot for me to complain since I have worked in the service industry. But the managers never want to fix any issues. The group next to us decided to bring an infant who can't help but be vocal for the 30 mins until we could not ignore it anymore. Side note, if you can't find a sitter I understand. Come at another time... Or at least protect your newborns ears from the 100+ decibels you are putting their new little ears through. Anyway, asked the manager if we could get tickets to come back another time because it's already late. He offered to give tix to a later movie... an hour and a half later! Really? Wow. Geez, even keep your money and let us have vouchers for another day. But if you need the money that bad, then keep it. We loved our first time at this theater! The prices are a little on the higher side but we thought the food and service was excellent! Anytime we needed something it was just a push of the button away. We started with the loaded chicken nachos with hubby's Stella Artois beer and my Caribbean cocktail (forgot the correct name). For the main course hubby got a sirloin steak sandwich with great steak, queso, mushrooms, onions and chimichurri sauce which he said was absolutely delicious. I got the steak flatbread with red onions, bleu cheese and balsamic vinaigrette and a side of sweet potato fries which was divine and went great with my frozen margarita with prosecco. We finished it all off with the brownie sundae which was very sweet but really hit the spot to finish off our meal! The Dark Tower was a great movie too! We can't wait to go back!! read more

So my son and I sat out in the pub/eatery area for at least an hour and not one bar tender or server came to ask our order. They looked directly at us multiple times but refused to come from behind the bar. Whomever manages this place should be fired. Each of the employees sits around playing on their phones when it's obvious that they should be cleaning or tending to customers that have been sitting, waiting on service for well over an hour. Food is mediocre at best and over priced. We paid $25 for a pitcher of Margaritas which was the special that night. There was so much ice in the pitcher that we only got maybe 2-1/4 drinks out of it. Would have been cheaper to just order individual drinks. Once your order is delivered, forget about trying to order anything else or drink refills. You'll never see your waiter again or wait 20 min for it if they happen to remember. Service is usually very lacking. The theaters itself are nice and I like that you can reserve your seating. There is absolutely nothing I could possibly complain about. Granted, I've been in nicer movie grills (Muvico...Google it), but with the level of customer service, and actually the value, as compared to big city movie grill concepts, SMG Tyler gets 5 stars. Here's a setup: Matinee for 3 of us, was $24. Food for 3 of us was $25, sans tax and tip. Not to mention, if you want a cocktail (full bar), beer, or wine, SMG is your place. In price comparison, you'll spend $25 on stale popcorn, and 2 sodas at Carmike, or Town Center. Why not spend about the same, and enjoy actual food, versus concession garbage, and of course, you can have a beer here, unlike the competition. No brainer. The leather seats were comfy, and they actually have roomy aisles, which hardly no theater has these days. As mentioned in the 1st paragraph, the customer service is second to none. DO NOT go to this location! Oh my gosh, the customer service here is terrible. When we walked in we were not greeted by the girl at the register. Then when it was time to go inside the theater the girl taking the tickets was so rude! She didn't say one word, mind you, I'm visiting from out of town and don't really know the theater. (I'm a faithful Alamo Drafthouse customer, so being told the directions to where my movie was would have been beneficial.) She didn't say one word to me and just handed me the ticket. Then we ordered our food by someone named "J Fizzle"... She got our order wrong and the WORST part was we waited 1 hour and 42 minutes to receive a pizza and salad that never came. My fiancé had to go tell the manager and of course he offered free food that we did not take. I highly recommend going to Alamo Draft House if you want the "movie and meal" experience. I have been to studio movie grill 3 times now, every single time I had a bad experience. I honestly tried to give them a chance before writing a bad review, but they made it very hard for me to enjoy my experience. Honesty, if you want a good night out then go to a restaurant to eat first then to pretty much any other theater to watch a movie. The first 2 times we went we didn't get our drink orders until 30+ minutes into the movie. Each time we've gone we've gotten there 20 minutes before the movie started and we placed our food orders and drink orders. Each time the movie was almost over when we finally got our food that was cold by the time they brought it to us. Not only that but my food order was wrong the last two times we went. I would also like to note that each time we have gone the theater wasn't packed, it was actually pretty slow. The poor service was no excuse. Ordered 4 drinks while we were there, they got 2 of them wrong. Additionally it took 30 minutes to get the wrong beer, then it took 20 more to get it right. I have been twice now. My first time was at 1pm on a sunday. It was a new release and there were only 12-15 total people in the theater. Our fountain drinks took 15 minutes to get and our appetizer came out with our food. We had to ask 3 times to get a side a of ranch even though we asked for it when placing the order. Finally get it when the food was cold. Over all the taste of the food was good. (I was charged for the ranch that took so long to get) 2nd visit was on a Saturday night. Theater was 75% full. Fountain drink order still took 15 minutes to get. Food came out faster than exspected. It tasted good as well. Waitstaff was much better than on my Sunday visit. Chairs are comfy, foods good. But at just over $10.00 for a ticket this will not be my place to run to see a every movie. read more

We went there for first time last night. First ding was service took forever to take order. Second, the food came about 30 minutes into movie. Could really see well enough to eat. We both ordered the bacon cheese burger with sweet potato fries. The bottom bun disintegrated on first bite. That's why eating in the dark was so hard. The sweet potato fries were ok. We also order pretzel bite appetizers. They came out with our cheese burgers, not before. They did get our Sundae right. It came about 30 min later and was good. We did the 2 for $25. From the moment we arrived and were barely even acknowledged by the person at the front (I had to say something first-- that's how excited she was to see the 7 of us show up), I was a little worried about how the evening was going to turn out. First of all -- AND I HOPE YOUR HOME OFFICE IS READING THIS -- charging $10.50 for me to purchase tickets online is simply insulting. I can understand Fandango doing it since they're acting as an agent but YOU'RE THE SELLER and that's all the more reason for you to NOT charge me to use your online service. Your competitors (Like Roadhouse) don't charge for this and you shouldn't either. Next -- the young man who took our order was nice enough but I went through 3 beer choices before finally settling on a Heineken because he said the IPA, Dos Equis and Fosters were sold out. Ok... busy holiday weekend, certainly can happen. But then the group that came after us got their drinks before us and, lo and behold, they're drinking Fosters. THEN -- every single group around us got their food well in advance of the movie starting but nope, we had to track down a random server to go find our food. Distracting after the movie starts, both for us and those around us. So, overall, YOU CAN DO BETTER. Not sure how much management reads or even cares about reviews, but hope this one leads to some positive changes, better training and the obliteration of that greedy online ticketing fee! read more
