I've been a client of hers since her time at Red 7 Salon, and after trying other places, finally tracked her down at Boutique Noir. Couldn't be happier to be reunited with the best of the best. And I say this after having just cut my hair 2 weeks ago. Stephanie fixed not only a bad cut, but somehow made an extreme dye job less extreme with conditioner. Unreal. I have been seeing Stephanie and Lauren (for cut and color respectively) since somewhere around 2012, and honestly, I would follow them all over the city (and I have!). A little bit about me, I'm a female with short, naturally blonde hair that I like to make a little more blonder than it really is. And if you know anything about either of those things, then you know it's super important that you get the right cut and that the color is done right so that, in between appointments, you're still looking fabulous. No matter if Lauren is doing highlights (what I used to get) to full, dark color (that I tried once and it wasn't really me), or full on bleached, everything she does is magic. And, she always listens to what I want done, and is always certain to make sure that I leave happy. Seriously, if you're trying to find a colorist who is also a magician, Lauren is your woman. Stephanie is brilliant. Short hair looks like it would be simple, but based on the non-Stephanie hair cuts I've had that were not so great, it's not as easy as it looks. I've done short-ish, to pixie short, and I've always been happy with what we've done. I really feel that when I'm sitting in her chair that she wants my hair to look as good as I do. And the best part of the Stephanie/Lauren combo is that my hair grows out great, too. While the style changes or roots may grow, I always feel that it's just the evolution of my hairstyle over the weeks, not something that I'm wanting to hide with a hat. Every once in a while, I'd try someone else - thinking I could find a similar cut closer to home... and I always come crawling back to Steph, apologizing for leaving and regretting it every time. Nobody does a better job at recognizing what my hair needs & ensuring I get a cut that works for me. Steph introduced me to Elle, who keeps my color looking great. I love that she explains the science of color to me as she helps me understand which color to choose & how it may fade over time. When I came in asking for wild color highlights, Elle was very clear and up front about the time, price, and maintenance. She then strategized some great workarounds to get me the cool color I wanted, more sustainably, and at a reasonable price. Elle is super attentive to what I want/like, and always offers suggestions that'll better suit my needs. She is the only stylist I trusted to color my hair. I will follow her wherever she goes because it's rare to find a stylist where you have enough trust to experiment and know that they will never let you walk out hating your hair style. I've been a customer of Courtney for over 8 years and followed her throughout her transitions. My hair has transitioned over time (more gray) less highlights and I see her more frequently. Recently we've done balayage and ombré all of which look great. She always has a plan with the hair once we decide on a direction. Courtney has been doing my color and cuts for about three years. The cuts have been great, but she is a true genius with color. My natural color is dirty blond with gray. My previous colorist was using single process to cover the gray combined with highlights that made me look washed out. The regrowth was obvious. Courtney weaves the blond highlights with the gray in a way that conceals and brightens and just looks great. Regrowth between visits isn't a problem. And her cuts are fantastic too. She always asks if I'm ready for a change. I just put myself in her hands, and I am always very pleased with the results.
