I wouldn't recommend coming here. Piercings don't heal well. I was initially excited to get my ears pierced here as the environment seemed less intimidating than a tattoo & piercing shop. Which is true, it's a nice environment. However, I got my ears pierced over 1 year ago and they still have not healed. I've had to visit my doctor to prescribe medication to try and get them to heal. My experience with my piercings healing at Claire's as a child was better than this. I won't be returning to STUDS. read more

It was okay... BEWARE if you want to go with friends it's a pretty disappointing experience. Even though the rooms are rather large you can't even have one person with you for the experience and they don't tell you that beforehand. As someone who has never been pieced before that was really nerve wracking. This seems non-standard as I've been with multiple friends at other places to watch and its been totally fine. Also, hygiene was concerning. My piercer smooshed the waste into the biohazard bag touching other things on the way and then went back and touched some of the stuff that they would be piercing me with. She changed her gloves once and then just touched a lottt of things round the room before piercing me. I honestly should have stopped her but I felt uncomfortable. Last thing, the prices on the website for jewelry are vastly different than what you will be pierced with. Like 2x 3x 4x the price because they don't post the titanium prices online but it's required that you get pierced with them. Since the jewelry is visually the same it seems pretty misleading to post one price on the website and then you show up and it's much more than you thought you would be paying. read more

I had some mixed feelings about this place. The space was bright and clean, workers were kind and available, all of which was calming and professional. The piercing was done effortlessly and painlessly, Jade was really helpful and understanding of my nerves (first piercing in a really long time). However, the time crunch between appointments felt quite stressful. Apparently they are allotted for 10 minutes, including a sort of "consultation" and choosing of jewelry. The workers were sweet, but this system made it a stressful situation when my piercer decided my ear anatomy wouldn't allow a daith (plan A), or a rook (plan B). I was already nervous about the appointment and planned to get a rook in the event that I couldn't have my daith pierced, but when I had to make a split second plan C decision it was unnecessarily stressful. Time just felt so crunched and I didn't want to lose money on skipping out on the appointment so I panicked and got a helix piercing. This was fine, I was planning on getting that piercing in a few months, but the experience felt pressured and I wish they could cushion their appointment times a little more to allow more room for clients to breathe. It was a bit of a blur! My roommates came with me--both of them have a lot of piercings and are very familiar with the process--and said that I had gotten "ripped off" with jewelry pricing, too. I have mixed feelings about this place because it felt like I had 2 different experiences. I think that the grace period is a bit ridiculous, they only allow 5 minutes and if you're even a minute over they'll forfeit your appt. My friend and I booked an appt a month prior since we weren't able to snag a walk in. She had to drop me off so she could find parking and I had to run to the place to not get be over 5 minutes late. We made sure to give ourselves enough time to travel but unfortunately there was an accident; which was out of our control with traffic. I told them that my friend was just finding parking and would be here in a few minutes but they only offered 3 more minutes otherwise she'd have to forfeit her appt, which was a bit ridiculous to me. We were still under the 10 min mark and it felt like the most stressful experience I've had with reservations. I feel like they should account for more time in between appts if they need a certain amount of time to pierce, because life happens. You're going to run a few minutes late even when you leave earlier sometimes because some things are just un-avoidable. So I find it a bit weird how strict they're with the grace period. Not to mention if you're running late, you can't even call them to let them know; since it's an automated person you talk to. Even when I was finally signed in I felt rushed to pick my jewelry and placement. It just felt like you're on a time crunch the whole time. I was in between with picking my piercing locations but they were helpful in providing insight and tips to certain locations/piercings. But once you're back there with the piercer though they're super nice; and they make sure to communicate everything they're going to do. I had Anika and she definitely put my mind at ease. I was super nervous since this was my first piercing appt with an actual needle, but Anika took the time to walk me through the process as well as aftercare. I'd definitely go back and would buy their jewelry, but it is a weird experience I feel like. I'm torn with my emotions because the reservations seem unreasonable, but the piercers and workers are great. The worker in the main room is definitely chill and gives off a very welcoming presence. I'd maybe book another piercing appt but I hope they re-evaluate the booking process currently in place. read more

Beautiful aesthetically pleasing studio. Piercers are always nice and treat you with respect. The "front desk" people however, are awful, rude and unpleasant to work with. Each time I've gone here (3 or 4 times now) I have had an unpleasant experience with the person checking you in. They are short, rude, give you zero guidance on anything unless you're doing something you're not supposed to be doing. Hire people that want to be there and that can set the tone for paying customers to have a great overall experience!!! read more

Overall happy with piercing itself done here and cleanliness of the studio - piercer was helpful and quick. They were just running 10-15 mins behind appointment schedule and pierced sitting up which just resulted in a decent amount of blood dripping onto my shirt. Short summary: save your time and money by going elsewhere. This place was such a joke.. please don't be fooled by the Instagram ads and "cute" aesthetics. I had an appointment scheduled for two piercings and came 15-20 minutes early (as recommended). My piercer (Jade) called me up to do an ear "assessment" and without even touching my ears she says I can't get my lobes pierced bc of my ear anatomy. This store claims to be pro/expert piercers but refuse to pierce simple ear lobes... it doesn't take a pro to see there's enough space on my lobes. Since I was already there for 30 min, I asked the front desk if they had other piercers in store for a 2nd opinion. They asked me to wait 10 min for the other piercer (Reed) to come out and reassess. Reed was great, thoroughly took a look and feel of my lobes, and said she would be able to take me back and pierce my ears. BUT then, the guy at the front said my appointment time had passed, and so bc of that I'd have to reschedule. Seriously!? It wasn't my fault your piercer didn't feel comfortable piercing my ears (which isn't a great sign to start off with). The girl at the front then tells me their next appointment "may not show up" so if I stuck around for 10 min they can squeeze me in. Ten minutes pass, and the next appointment shows up so they tell me they can't serve me. This place was a waste of time and they're not accommodating at all. Reading some of the other reviewers, this appears to be a consistent issue. I ended up going to a different place as a walk-in the same night. I was in and out within 15 min and everything was perfect. I'd recommend you do the same. read more

I was extremely disappointed in my experience at STUDS. We had made an appointment for a group of 5 weeks before and received an email a couple days before the appointment letting us know that one appointment was completely canceled and all other times were changed. Due to traffic, we were ten minutes late and they wouldn't allow us to have the first appointment because they said we didn't have enough time for waiver form/piercings can take up to 20 minutes...however, it took us two minutes to fill out the forms and the first person in our group was getting an extreme basic piercing of the lobes (of which took maybe 5 minutes). They were really rude to my aunt when she asked if we could try to squeeze the other appointment in. Our last appointment time started at 6:20, which ended up being the time we ended our last appointment so we definitely could have been accommodating but chose not to. Overall, the employees lacked customer service skills and it showed in our experience. At this point, I could have easily just gone to Claire's and paid far less for the same experience. read more

I came in in September for a helix piercing after moving because the location was easier to get to than my usual tattoo shop piercer. This was my 9th ear piercing and I am very well versed in piercing after care. Less than a month later the earring just popped out and left a giant piercing bump with it. Months later I now still have the bump which I've treated as both a bump and a keloid; no success to this day. After my jewelry was put in; my piercer said she was going to "adjust the tissue" and squeezed my piercing which has never happened in my life nor to any of my friends and left me in a ton of pain. Staff was passive and seemed juvenile during my appointment and my piercer made me feel like a child with her language. read more

The energy in this place was very overwhelming, dysfunctional and unfriendly. The workers were standoffish and not helpful at all. Nothing was clearly communicated. I was uncertain with the piercing I wanted and was between two locations...one of the workers told me not to worry because there would be a consultation with the piercer....not sure what they were talking about because the piercer stated that I should know what I want already. There was no consultation at all. Jewelry is not very nice. I would recommend going to laughing Buddha if you want piercings. They are also located in Capitol Hill and very good.
