This location is the original, and it's awesome. It's your typical New Mexican place, service is slow sometimes but the food is made to order and delicious. This place has breakfast, lunch, or dinner options and they're all great. I love their tacos, taquitos, and stuffed sopas. My favorite option is the carne adovada, with potatoes and cheese. The chile has a great flavor, and it's a filling meal. It's not the cleanest, nicest, biggest place you'll visit. It's kind of a hole in the wall but the food is awesome. read more

Stufys is a prime example of Divey delicious food. Is is bad for you or is it good for you? Who really knows. The food isn't overly greasy or super processed like those fast food chains. They now serve stuffed sopas from breakfast to lunch. Ive only had the stuffed sopapillas, taquitos, fries and their homemade natillas. They have several different choices for the sopas but I stick with the #7 potato, carne adovado, and cheese. It also comes with lettuce but i prefer it without. This location is the original one. There use to be 3 locations but after a fire it leaves this guy and on located in the NE heights. I've come to this Stufy's for years. I enjoy the workers as they are always friendly. I usually go through the drive thru but this time my sister and I decided to eat in. There wasn't anyone else there so it was nice and quiet. The food was awesome and I always order the Stufy #1 with retried beans and red chile. I always add fried potatoes to give it an extra crunch and flavor profile. This was my first time back to Stufy's in about 10 years and I was not disappointed. Even before the pandemic, this place started to go downhill on quality, and I've been going to and loving Stufys since they opened on San Mateo in the 70s. Now, it's inonsistent at best. After not visiting for a long while, I tried them coming home from work, simply because it's on the way. Google said open til 7pm. Pull in at 5:15 and wait in line behind 2 cars. After 15 minutes get up to the speaker. Woman says "We're closed" I reply, "I've been in line for 15 minutes" Google says open til 7pm. She says "We close at 5:30" Obviously, she couldn't care less. Stick your head out the door and count the cars in line at 5:30 if that's the case, and at least serve the customers that waited on your slow ass service. I look at the property, the building and the attitude and realize...Wow...yeah I'll pass. Save yourself the hassle, I'm sure if the restaurant is closing at 5:30pm they have issues elsewhere that you really don't want to know about. read more

So this dive is never going to make the slick cover Albuquerque foodie magazines, but then if you eat here you're not reading that trash anyway. The food is sinfully good and guaranteed to give your cardiologist a heart attack. Selections and prices are reasonable. Service is not the fastest because it's not one of those chain burger joints. If you are visiting the area drive past Old Town a few miles and enjoy something different. Don't let the neighborhood scare you away - it's fine. Oh, don't tell your doctor. read more

Now officially cannot stand this place. We've been trying to eat here for the past 4 years off and on. But every single experience has been absolutely dreadful. It shouldn't be hard to make 2 extremely simple breakfast stuffies, but somehow every time they get everything totally wrong. This time was the last straw as we recently went on another type of diet where we don't eat much meat. Asked for a stuffy with eggs, potatoes beans, and cheese. Got a stuffy with red Chile, potatoes, and a giant meat patty-- no sign of any eggs, beans, or cheese, and I most definitely was not in the mood for the meat patty. Our roommate's order was completely correct, of course. Went to take the order back to exchange for the right thing, and was pleasantly surprised to find that they still messed it up! This was by far the worst food and service I have experienced at any restaurant. The cashier was sarcastic and rude. The food was made incorrectly and took over 30 minutes to prepare. I Went to the drive thru at Stufys on Sunset today , and I ordered 2 #7's 1 order of small fries and a large Coke When I Got To The drive thru window, I saw the Manager dipping the sopapillas and getting them out with her bare hands, that is gross and unsanitary, I asked to speak to her, and asked her why she is doing that, she doesn't speak any English and didn't understand anything I was saying, I got my food 2 stuffed sopapillas with Carne Adovada , got home and they were gross and soggy, I asked for my money back and she didn't want to give it to me, and the other person working there also grabbed some corn tortillas without any gloves on, I wish they would be trained to work and watch videos about sanitation, I am very unhappy about that place , I used to Love Stuffys, but not anymore, they have gone downhill, Thanks read more

The dishes are too inconsistent, one day you'll have the best thing you ever tasted, and another the same menu item will be just 'meh'. But you usually can't go wrong with the stuffed sopaipillas, as their sopaipillas are fantastic, probably my favorite in all of Albuquerque (take THAT, El Patio). read more

The Gorilla Burger is the best value in NM. 1/2 lb of beef smothered in green chile and cheese, covered in fries and two ramekins of red and green chile. If you can eat it without a fork and knife more power to you. The only downside is the staff takes a while to notice you. I've sat around for 5-8 minutes waiting for someone to take my order... but they sincerely apologized and hooked me up with some free stuffed sopas. read more

I usually like the guacamole tostadas and ok for a sloppy stuffed sopa but today I saw them make the tostada with no gloves and then take my money with the same hands not to mention they put to go food in styrofoam containers then stuck them in the microwave. Make sure if you eat here you are careful of the food prep or order your food minus the formaldehyde. read more

This place has been a staple of Albuquerque for as long as I can remember. I don't eat there too often but when I do, I have to say that although the food is very good and reasonably priced, the service is horrible. Every time I have gone there in the past I'm never greeted with a Hello or a thank you. So with that being said. I would recommend this business only because the food is good. read more

Driving through Albuquerque on my way to Santa Fe and wanted to stop at a local dive. This popped up and I tried it. It is very very good. I have been coming to stufy's since early 2000's. I have made many special drives out of my way just to come here once I moved out of the north valley. The stuffed sopapillas are always big. Enough for an average appetite to feel satisfied. My favorite is the #7, carne adovada, sliced potatoes with the cheese and lettuce. But I have tried them all and they are all very tasty. I do prefer the red Chile to their green and sometimes the green has a slight taste that I feel like they maybe forgot to add chile and I have to search for it. But you can always ask for extra chile. For me, this is one of those small businesses that if it were to close down, I would literally have to shed some tears for. What is strange is that part of me wants to hate this place and I have no idea why. Likely because this has to be the most unhealthy place you could ever eat. I have had it three times in the past three months, all at work. It's cheap New Mexican food, but it's not bad. The Stuffy 4 is good. It's a stuffed sopaipilla, filled with a hamburger, potatoes and chile. It's a sopaipilla burger. It's good. Really. It is. The chile is good, as well. It is this sort of food that makes me wonder how on earth I am thin. It's straight comfort food, New Mexican style. The Dinner options are gigantic. They are all around 7 dollars and you will have food for tomorrow's dinner, too. You would think the Rellenos would be bad from a little place like this, but they are actually...good. The dinner plates all come smothered in chile and cheese. I am not a fan of the tacos, though. The chicken was dry. Maybe next time I will try the beef. It does hurt my heart that the posole is only served seasonally. I wish it was year round. I can say that they are not always consistent. My coworkers have gotten salty beans or bland dishes before. My first time here. Drove through for a quick lunch pick-up. No wait in line, and no wait on the food. Affordable and filling. I had the #9 Stufy with refried beans, beef, green chile and cheese. So, yesterday, I drove thru, was promptly greeted and asked to hold. Two vehicles lined up behind me and waited. I waited. Two vehicles behind me left, and after 10 minutes waiting TO ORDER, I left. Tried again today. Same prompt greeting, and asked to hold. Only had to wait 4 minutes today, but with one car in the lot and one car at the window, that's too long. The order taker didn't repeat my order, so surprise, it wasn't right when it was given to me. I waited another 4 minutes for them to get it right. The new person at the window obviously hasn't been properly trained and is costing them money. BUT THE FOOD IS GREAT!!! I ordered a #1 bean Stufy's from the Juan Tabo store. The sopapilla was flat and tough to chew and did not seem fresh. The beans were extremely salty. I'm still a Stufy's fan, but in comparison to the Stufy's from the past, the past offered a much better tasting Stufy's. Keep the sopapillas fresh, not stale or gummy, and you'll be back to the great Stufy's you used to be. read more

Kinda rude. Ignorant. Lacking customer service. I got there at 7:30, they open at 8:00, well there suppose too open at 8. I wait until 8:03 to go up to the drive thru. Then when I get there they said they don't open till 8.30.. They have more then three signs saying that open at 8.00! Come on guys get your crap together. Other then that I love the food! I asked for a stuffed sopapilla and 3 rolled tacos to go. IT was very small and hardly any green chili, 1 small slice of bacon cut in half. They messed up my order and only gave me 2 rolled tacos and No I did not go back for it... The place is old and dirty. Now I know why there was not any other people there. I will NOT go there again.
