Went there for work lunch today. My co-worker always goes here and non of us can figure out why. They do have their followers but I was not impressed. The salsa looked and tasted like ketchup mixed with Tabasco sauce. Chips were okay. I should have stuck with my safe go to Mexican meal, a quesadilla or chimichanga but I decided to try the fish tacos. Two of us had them and we both agreed they were not good! The smothered burrito looked okay. Another co-worker got the beef taco salad and that could feed a few people and they didn't like it either... out of ten people only three enjoyed their meals. Maybe there is something I'm not ordering that's really good there, but there are tons of Mexican places that easily take precedence over this place. read more

Bad service, bad food, won't be coming back. The salsa was like a spicy tomato paste. That's when our spidey senses tingled and we should have just left. We weren't asked for our drink order until after we were asked if we were ready to order. My wife's food was brought several minutes before my fajita meat was brought out, which came several minutes before the fajita toppings, and then finally someone brought me tortillas- I didn't start eating until at least 10 minutes after her. Her taco salad was soggy and the chicken tasted canned. It had no flavor, even after dumping salsa and salt on it. My chicken fajitas were the only decent part of the whole experience, but even those had a slightly sour taste (how do you do that to fajitas? I'm still wondering). It was all just a little overpriced, which would have not been an issue if it had been good; with the quality of our experience, however, it only added insult to injury and was compounded by the fact that we only ate about half of our food. I know good quality Mexican food is hard to come by in SLC, but I honestly would have just preferred Taco Bell. read more

We stopped by Su Casa in Midvale last night thinking we'd give them another try after a less than memorable first visit. Unfortunately, we were memorably disappointed and it will be our last visit. The food was disappointingly blah... It started out with the traditional chips and salsa. The standard salsa was more of a spiced ketchup - an authentic sauce made in a blender but not good. We asked if they had a pico-de-gallo fresh salsa. What they brought tasted like it had canned ingredients... so much for fresh. For dinner, my wife wanted a healthier option and chose the fish taco dish. It ended up being breaded, deep-fried and dripping oil with a strong fish taste. She didn't even finish the second taco a fish taco. I settled on a shredded-beef chimichanga and my son had a plain quesadilla. The chimi was basically flavorless, covered with sour cream on a bed of lettuce and olives - Very disappointing! It's hard to screw up a plain quesadilla - I mean, it's a tortilla and cheese. The disappointing part was that they charged almost $7 for it! We did get tamales too which were the only redeeming dish served and it included a truly fresh tasting salsa verde. Overall the food was really disappointing, the ambiance felt like a Mexican prison, service was mediocre, and it was very over-priced. Su Casa has lost yet another customer. read more

Disappointing. We decided to try a New Mexican restaurant with our "go to" place temporarily closed due to Covid-19. We wont eat from here again. The beans taste like they are directly out of a can and the rice had very little flavor. The queso tasted like a big plate of cream cheese (we threw it out). One of our enchilada orders had the wrong filling & were very oily. The chips were good but the salsa had a strange texture & flavor. It all seemed like very low grade ingredients & overall lacking flavor. We didn't eat most of our meal. read more

I am a fan, and I won't deny it. This has been my friends and I's go to spot for dinner.. why, I don't know. But it just happened one day and it hasn't gone away. Either way, round 200 with some of my single girlfriends that I adore went down for dinner today. Trust me, I know this is not authentic mexican food -- so I am not rating it to those standards. The chips and salsa are weird - it is like a tomato paste, but chips and salsa is not Mexican food, sooo.... Two of my friends tried some banana drink special and I am not sure that was banana but maybe some banana syrup slushi? Either way, I didn't get one. I always get their chicken flauta with green chile sauce with beans (no rice - see my rant over Cafe Rio). It never disappoints, I always leave full and content. They have vegetarian options also, and are very attentive. Overall, I come here with my friends. I won't come here alone, or recommend it for someone to take me on a date, but if the girls say dinner this is the place. We can stay and chat even when we are done eating. They aren't chasing me out once I sign the check, which I always have to respect. Try it out and see for yourself. Be more adventurous than I am and try something new! read more

I'm honestly a little surprised by the negative reviews for this location. I have lived in Utah for 4 years, and I've been going to Su Casa in Midvale at least almost once every other month for that time period. I'm always greeted by a smiling staff and very friendly service. For the price and the amount of food you get, it's a great deal for couples or families. My favorite part is the shredded beef. Not a lot of places around here have it, and it's my favorite to get on Enchiladas smothered in cheese! Your order shows up in about 5-7 minutes and they never let my drinks get empty. Sure, not the most authentic Mexican food I've ever tasted, but it sure beats the heck out of what I could make at home, especially for the price! I highly recommend! read more

This place is DISGUSTING. Salsa is seriously tomato sauce. The guac was green sour cream. No onion, cilantro or tomato in either of them. The horchata was more like chocolate milk. I requested to see if they had any other salsa and the waiter brought over this gross looking bowl of chopped onions and tomatoes in a soupy watered down tomato sauce I am guessing. I ordered the chicken enchiladas took a bite and spit it out into my napkin. I got a joint in my mouth it seemed because I couldn't even chew the piece. The waiter saw that I was not happy and I told him I did not like the plate. He asked if I wanted something else but I told him no. As hungry as I was I didn't want anything because clearly the food was not going to be good. I put the plate at the end of the table. I tried a bite of rice from my boyfriend and it has to be instant Spanish rice. It was dry and still hard. The beans had zero flavor to them. I didn't even want to try his fish tacos at that point. Once the check came and I really wanted to leave so I could go eat something else. They still charged for the food I didn't eat. Most restaurant will not charge you for that. Such POOR service here. The first thing we noticed was that the "salsa" for the chips was like slightly spicy ketchup. Our server was distracted and hard to communicate with. I'm a vegan and I understand that it's more difficult for me to order but the amount of times I had to say 'no cheese' was ridiculous. I got my sad little burrito and the only good thing about it was the side of guacamole that came with it. The food here is mediocre at best and I would not recommend it. But it is very cheap. I have lived near this place for as long as it has been in existence and since going there I wonder how it stays open. With all of the fairly good mexican restaurants in Utah, why anyone would choose to return there is beyond me. The chips are your standard dorito fare that you can buy at Smith's. The salsa is like tomato sauce with salt and some heat added. The smothered chili verde burrito tasted like something out of a freezer case and the rice and beans were just meh, I would not recommend this place to anyone who halfway knows what good mexican food should taste like. The first time I came to this restaurant my friend recommended it to me, so that is the only reason I came here to begin with. The food lacked a lot of flavor, and I am a big fan of Mexican food so I was very disappointed when I came here. The first time coming here I ordered a tamale, which was very dry and had no flavor. The rice and beans weren't good either. The beans had no flavor and the rice was hard and undercooked with no flavor. I was very disappointed which is why I haven't been back until tonight. The same friend wanted to go for dinner, and after giving it 7 months I was hoping things maybe had gotten better since then but sadly it's just as gross as it was the last time I went. This time I ordered the nachos. I saw chicken as an option to put onto the nachos for a small additional cost, so I chose to do that but I sure wished I hadn't spent the extra money because the chicken was boiled not grilled like I was thinking it would be (wishful thinking) and like everything else I've tried here, it lacked flavor. Bottom line the food here is flavorless, eat somewhere else... Taco Bell has better Mexican than this place. I won't be coming back. read more

My family has been been eating at Su Casa for generations. We genuinely enjoy the cheap prices and very fast service. The waiters are friendly and recognize us when we come in, and we are always impressed that they never write down our order yet they make no mistakes. Today they served us free chips and salsa before our meal like they always do. The chips are tasty, but we have never understood the salsa that comes with them. It seems like nothing more than ketchup with a handful of chile powder and a selection of other spices. Although this can be a welcomed change of taste on occasion, we always ask for "fresh salsa" which is more like traditional salsa, and quite good, although it can be just a little bit too hot at times. I had the lunch special today, which consists of a bean tostada and a bean and cheese burrito covered in enchilada sauce, and is only $5.75, but I changed my burrito to chile verde for an extra $2.00. I appreciated going to a nice sit down restaurant for the same amount of time and same amount of money that I would pay at any fast food joint. I enjoy smothering my tostada with Su Casa's ranch dressing, which is so good, it could have come straight from heaven. Unfortunately, I felt a little bit cheated by the amount of lettuce on my tostada, but the burrito was a good size, and the chunks of chile verde were plentiful enough to keep me satisfied. In general, the food is good, but there isn't enough variety on the menu to allow your taste buds to experience something completely new each time you come. A major problem that Su Casa has is the amount of parking. During the dinner rush, you might not be able to find a parking space. Luckily, the dinner menu is always available during lunch hours, which are generally a lot less busy. Overall, this is a good restaurant especially if you don't have a lot of time or if you have a tight budget. Also good for families, but the environment is simple and can become a bit bland. If you are looking for somewhere quite festive or with more options, I would recommend someplace else. read more

My favorite Mexican Restaurant. I love the food, the service and the friendly staff. I have been coming here for years and crave this place! I worked there through High School and know how clean they keep everything and how fresh the salsa is and that NOTHING comes from a can and is homemade. The chips and salsa are good. People say it's like catsup but I didn't realize catsup had chunks of fresh onions and peppers in it? (Besides, I hate catsup and like this salsa). My favorite dishes are the Lunch Special and the Chili Verde Burrito. I like that their chili verde is different than any other restaurant. It has a really good taste to it and has big pieces of meat. The rice is amazing and the refried beans are too! When I worked there I wanted something different so I would order fries with chili verde and cheese! You have to try it! It's really good! I love this place and wish they'd open one at the south end of the valley. In Riverton/Herriman/So Jordan or Draper. Always fast service! This place has been in business for so many years. I really enjoyed this restaurant. They have a buffet. Their menu is big. The chips are yummy & airy. The salsa has cilantro, tomatoes, onions, etc. So it's not just the pureed hot stuff. The food was hot. The beans and rice on the side were yummy. My husband got the chile' verde and he really liked it. I don't know if I love this place because I grew up eating here, or if it is just good. But I love me some Su Casa! It's not the greatest Mexican around, but for the price point, I think it's really good. It has it's own unique flavor, and maybe that's why I like it. It doesn't mix in with all the other Mexican places in Utah. They have a unique taste in their sauces with their own spice blend that makes me come back for more. My faves are the lunch special with the chile verde, the dinner special with the chile verde, cheese enchiladas, and tortilla soup (seasonal). One thing that I wish was different is that I wish they served alcohol. Margaritas and beer just need to go with good Mexican food. But I guess that's Utah for you... read more

Honestly this place was really bad. Our server was nice and friendly but the food was horrible! The salsa looked like ketchup but tasted like tomato paste with hot sauce. They don't serve alcohol (bad sign to begin with). The fish tacos were some sort of mystery fish with "signature Baja sauce and shredded cabbage" which was nothing more than cheap bagged salad. The flautas were all right because it was deep fried (anything deep fried seemed okay because it could cover up anything bad). Somethings just seemed cheap about the place as well. The food was decent priced but sucked to pay for a bad meal. I really don't understand how this place is still open. read more
