    Pork

This place might look like a small place in a random shopping center but they are putting out some good food. I stopped in while with one of my employees in the area. I had the roasted pork with boniato, white rice and garbanzos. First the serving size is huge, enough for 2 people. But wow was that some tasty pork. You can tell it was marinated well as the flavor is throughout the meat. My employee had the boliche which was soft and flavorful. I decided to take some home to my husband and the woman behind the counter offered me a piece of the smoked pork. My mouth waters thinking about it right now. Great Smokey flavor, tender meat, I can't believe I almost left without having it. I took my husband home the smoked pork and he loved it- he is picky so this rare. I also brought arroz con leche and flan which were both really good. Can't wait to go back!

Found this place when I was putting gas in my car by the Wawa around the corner & when I tell you that this restaurant is an absolute gem... located in a small plaza in the corner of the building by the stairs, I walked in here curious of what they were offering. Great thing is that all their food is fresh and ready to serve, they put it on a to-go plate so you can leave right away or eat-in. Honestly, I couldn't decide on what to get because everything looked so delicious, so I decided to go with white rice, shredded beef and fried plantains. I had to sit down and tear it up because I was hungry... so why not. All I'm going to say is that I had to order a second plate to-go for later today & decided to try something else out. If you are by the area or if it's close to you, this is a must go-to restaurant if you want to be full and satisfy all your hunger needs. This is a hidden gem for sure and those who have had it know what I'm talking about! This place smacks!!!

Suarez BBQ is what I would call an undercover restaurant with a great HVAC system. When you walk in to the storefront off Okeechobee Road, it looks like a plain Cuban cafeteria with a couple of precooked meats and sides. You don't see or smell any smoker, and you order your "completa". Once you get to your table though, in front of you is a tasty piece of smoked BBQ chicken. So yes, it's an undercover BBQ spot. Looking for some BBQ dinner after a Sunday at the office, I came across Suarez BBQ on my Yelp search..I was expecting one of the traditional Okeechobee Road ranches and was pleasantly surprised to find an air conditioned, intimate spot with Old Havana street scene paintings on the wall and a TV showing some soccer game. I opted for the BBQ chicken, moros and sweet plantains. It seems they have the meats precooked, and they re-smoke it after you pick, leaving the tasty smoke (which is complemented by their smokey bbq sauce. The moros were just greasy (I dont like dry rice) and the sweet plantains generous. The staff was pleasant, and let me know their claim of their smoked beef special. I'll give this a try next time.

From a bartender/ server, I can say I'm always looking for good service and he delivered. The food was really good we had the ham and chicken croquetas, as well as carnitas frita de cerdo. The ham croquettes were suggested by Alejandro and they were so good. He also suggested we did the Lacon con papas and he did not disappoint. It's cooked for 4 hours and it's so soft and yummy. We were celebrating my girls birthday and he brought out a nice Dubai chocolate cake and sang happy birthday. Super nice I suggest seating outside in the patio. It's hot but there's many fans. The decor it's giving Cuba. I loved it. I had been here before in 2021 but Alejandro truly made our experience better and worth it. I would definitely come back We got cortaditos to go and they were really good and authentic. If you're looking for real Cuban food. This place is it.

Ambiance is what you expect of all the south beach locations seemingly an extension of Havana if you been there. It would get 5 stars if they were authentic trying to offer strictly cuban only and reasonably priced. Because they take advantage of tourist and are here just for the money I lowered it to 3.

Our favorite time to visit is Sunday brunch, especially since they have a special menu. We recently came for Father's Day, and even though Julio was celebrating as a father himself, he was working incredibly hard to make sure every guest had a great experience. You can really see how much heart and dedication he pours into his business. As expected on Father's Day, there was a bit of a wait, especially since we were a larger party, but none of us minded. To thank us for our patience, Julio generously brought out croquetas for the table on the house, which was such a thoughtful gesture. I can't recommend Trigo Café enough. The food is consistently excellent, the service is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels like home. While brunch is our favorite, their lunch and dinner are just as great, and the new tapas and wine area they recently added is a fantastic addition. If you haven't been, you're missing out!

AMBIANCE Parking: Dedicated lot and surrounding parking options, though it can get busy during peak hours. Seating: Plenty! Large dining rooms capable of accommodating individuals, families, tour groups, and everyone in between. Vibes: Welcome to Little Havana. It's a bit spaced out for you to experience Cuban culture. The restaurant itself gives you that classic, old-school charm with some history of the Cuban community. I dig the Cuban music giving it a nice cultural touch. This spot is no hidden gem. This is a common place for everyone - locals to tourists. FOOD / DRINKS Cubano (Recommend) Ofcourse you have to get a Cubano. Nothing too flashy but definitely gets the job done. However,…read morewith slow service and nickel and diming (18 percent automatic tip) and smallish portions I don't think I'll be back. Having had a quick workday lunch and walked around the mall, I had worked up an appetite. I was seated in a corner table for two and my order was taken. The restaurant did not seem that crowded even for a Friday night but it felt like a long wait. Unlike many Cuban places, they don't offer complimentary bread. I ordered their "platanos a tentacion" (bacon wrapped sweet plantains), grilled chicken and moros. The rice was a little hard and the chicken breast on the small side and barely seasoned other than the onions garnishing it. Service didn't feel very attentive for me as a solo diner. Between finishing my dinner and waiting to order either dessert or cafecito, I also sat and waited until a waitress finally came by. At that point, I just got the coffee and my check. I don't believe I was offered a printed receipt, just the card terminal. I asked if the tip was included and pretty much in time when I was putting the usual tip (trying to be generous with 20 percent) I was told that it was a service charge, and that the tip was extra, but had full amounts starting with 18%. So basically I paid 30% tip for a small portion of food and inattentive service. Looking back, I see that this restaurant had a different name and I had enjoyed dinner at their other location six years back. It's disappointing to see how it has fallen off. As it were, a lot of the original creative items on the menu are no longer being offered.
