I was a happy customer of Subaru of Wakefield until the Albrecht takeover. Now its constant sales pressure tactics and a lack of transparency in prices. Go on their service website and they refuse to give you a breakdown of what is included in the "intermediate" and "major" packages and do not quote prices. Compare that to another dealership that itemizes and prices all services. I recently booked a service for a specific price and with a discount that they emailed me specifically for that service. They tried to charge me hundreds more saying "prices have changed" until I dug up their marketing email (from just 10 days ago). I don't want to have to deal with such tactics. I'm switching to another Subaru service provider. read more

Over all, my technician and service were phenomenal, if I could give that five stars I would. Shout out to Michael who was an amazing help throughout the process. I came in for an oil change and a few additional things were recommended in regard to service, over all my experience with him was great! The concern for me is the service desk staff. I chose to sit and wait for my car to be done, I really wish I had not done this. Usually it's a wonderful experience, it's quiet and staff is always friendly and respectful. While waiting for my car to be done I sat in a customer lounge while three employees loudly discussed dating preferences and history. In addition to this they were discussing other customers, I know this because one was the customer in front of me. It isn't the most comfortable experience to be alone and over hear employees discussing how they are into short blonde girls, this just made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Like I said, if I could give the service and Michael 5 stars I would! If it was a nicer day I would have waited outside after their conversation had started. read more

5/27/2026 - The only reason there is a 1 star, was to post this review. On May 22, 2026, I brought my vehicle to your dealership for a battery replacement only. The staff performed or reported additional inspections and alleged mechanical issues without my authorization or consent. Specifically, I was informed that my left rear rotor and brake pad required urgent replacement due to an alleged safety concern. I rejected this recommendation because my vehicle had already passed a Massachusetts safety inspection on May 16, 2026, at a licensed inspection facility in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Prior to my vehicle entering your repair shop, I had not experienced any brake-related problems, noises, or safety concerns whatsoever. Based on the condition of my vehicle afterward and the circumstances surrounding the visit, I have serious concerns that components may have been altered or swapped in an attempt to create the appearance of dangerous wear in order to pressure me into unnecessary repairs. I specifically believe the left rear rotor and brake pad were manipulated or replaced to falsely suggest that immediate brake service was required. Additionally, after reviewing my invoice, I discovered multiple inaccuracies and overcharges, including: Failure to refund the battery core charge; Incorrect license plate information; Incorrect vehicle description listed on the paperwork. On May 23, 2026, I was forced to return to the dealership to correct these issues and request the refund owed to me. The same service advisor who handled my original visit was resistant and dismissive regarding the refund request. During that same visit, I also informed the staff that my vehicle failed to start twice after the battery replacement performed the previous day. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, I was told I would need to pay an additional $149 diagnostic fee. Given the way I had already been treated, I declined further service. I then requested to speak with a service manager and was told I would receive a return call. After waiting approximately 45 minutes without any response, I called back again and left another message. Eventually, another service advisor informed me that the service managers were out of the office until Tuesday, May 26, 2026. He later called back and stated there was "nothing further" the dealership could do for me. The most alarming incident occurred on May 26, 2026, at approximately 6:00 PM while I was driving home. My rear brakes suddenly failed, causing a loud screeching halt and creating an extremely dangerous situation that nearly resulted in an accident involving myself and other motorists. After the incident, I exited my vehicle to inspect for damage and immediately noticed that the rear rotor appeared severely worn down and significantly smaller in size compared to the other three rotors on the vehicle. My vehicle is now parked because I no longer feel safe operating it. Today, May 27, 2026, I spoke with a Service Manager E. Batcheldr to explain these concerns. Unfortunately, I found her response to be antagonistic, dismissive, and unprofessional. I requested management contact information because I intend to formally pursue this matter further if necessary. This situation is extremely serious. I could have been seriously injured, and innocent bystanders could have been harmed as a result of what I believe to be dangerous, negligent and deceptive conduct of their service department. read more

They try to rip you off each and every time you use their service center. I bought 2 Subarus at Subaru Wakefield but I will NEVER use them again. I love Subarus, have been driving them for over 40years. But ANY time you use their service center for very minor things or a warranty issue, they ALWAYS come up with some very high costs about bogus repair needs, ranging from $2000-$4000. This just happened to me today. I brought in my car for a new tire (warranty, no cost to me) but then they come to me with $4100 list of recommended repairs on my car (mind you, I just got my car tuned, my mechanic is EXCELLENT, going to him over 30yrs). Took them over 3 hours to put a new tire on my car??? BEWARE if you use their service shop. I have a Subaru whose check tire light just came on. i'm in my 70's and it's freezing cold out. I called Wakefield to see if I could drop by and have them put air in my tires. They said no, they couldn't do that. (I could come in and wait two hours for walk in service.) What? so I called Cityside Subaru in Belmont and they said, sure, come on by, the valet will be able to fill the tires. And so I did. It took about 5 minutes. I am astonished that Subaru of Wakefield wouldn't do such a small thing. (I didn't bother with a gas station bc they all now require you to fill your own tires...and I just can't.) read more

Service department is dishonest. Had a radiator flush supposedly and change thermostat and change a bulb. A woman calls me and said it was done and all my lights are out. I go there and the only light that was out was the one I asked to change which they didn't. Plus it was down 2 gallons of coolant which I had buy and add elsewhere. Recently my car overheated. Took it to another place and they said the radiator was never flushed and thermostat was never changed. This place is trash. read more

I Questioned again, "are we talking US DOLLARS? Still ok per the service rep. But at least the sales manager called me back ten minutes later, after I declined all service, to tell me they put in the wrong part price. NP, but service rep was unforgiveably clueless. They also broke my lug nut blaming it on "the last shop". ...Well they were the last shop, and they took no responsibility whatsoever. I lost it at that point and was nasty on my way out which was not typical of me and not the right way to handle it, but I was blown away by the lack of common sense and customer service. I have to admit that I was a little bit torn on how to rate this. On one hand, the salesman I worked with was extremely kind, attentive to what I wanted out of a car, and great at keeping me in the loop as we waited for the car to arrive. The process was easy and clearly explained every step of the way. However, once the car arrived and I drove it off the lot, I discovered a shuttering sound that turned out to be an issue with the rotor and I ended up having to bring my brand new (under-50-miles-on-it-brand-new) car back in to be repaired. Though they took my car in and repaired it quickly, I was extremely disappointed that there was an issue with the brand-new car, and feel that this was a preventable issue that should have been checked for before they allowed me to drive away (a quick five-minute drive by someone from Subaru would have likely uncovered this issue). read more

Maybe this is just business nowadays but it became obvious that they cared much more about making a sale than me being happy with the purchase. I specifically asked multiple times about a particular noise and was told "that's just what a Subaru sounds like." It's a horrible market right now for used cars so we weren't really in a position to be too picky and I figured I would get used to it. The next day we found a bulletin posted from Subaru directly about the widespread noise concern with our year make and model and how to fix it. The salesperson wrote me a nice email asking if I was happy with the purchase and if I'd write a review. I responded with the bulletin and asked if they could implement the fix. They were happy to give me the phone number for the service department so I could come back and spend more money. They wouldn't discuss the fact that this was a documented concern during the buying process that was brushed off though. HUMAN HAIR WRAPPED AROUND MY AXLE WAS NO CONCERN TO THEM I purchased my Subaru Legacy a little over 2 years ago. I have had no issues with it until this point. However, the issue that caused this experience will deter me from ever going back to Subaru of Wakefield. About a month ago I felt a hollowness in the right front end and the ride was not very smooth. I dropped it off at a local mechanic to get looked at and within a half hour I was called back to the shop with little explanation. Upon my arrival they asked me some strange questions. "Have I been in an accident recently" "Does the car belong to me" "Has anyone else been driving it". I answered no to all of these questions and once they showed me what was wrapped around my passenger side front axle I understood the questioning. There was long human hair wrapped around my axle. The mechanic refused to perform any work on the car so I left extremely embarrassed. I proceeded to send an email to my sales agent explaining the situation and she made me aware that there was a quick recall procedure that needed to be done also. She told me she was "very sorry this happened and they would take care of the recall and the other issue for me". I dropped my car off and got a call a few hours later. They wanted to charge me $500 to fix the strut and $99 for an alignment. I was told all they would do was remove the "debris" (aka the half a head of hair) from my axle. I refused to pay for any services to fix the strut due to the embarrassment I was caused paired with the promise from my sales agent that it would be taken care of. I then got a voicemail from my agent saying that since I "paid the bill" there's nothing she can do and her "hands are tied". She said if I didn't pay the bill she could have worked with her service manager. I called her back and explained that I refused the service and didn't pay anything. I instructed her to speak with her service manager and see what they can do. I have followed up twice with no resolution. I understand unknown things happen with cars because there's a lot going on under the hood but in my opinion there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON a car with hair wrapped around the axle should ever make it off the lot. All it would take is a quick under the car inspection. I will be following up with the Motor Vehicle and the authorities to see if whatever incident happened before I purchased the car was reported. @Sal, thank you for the prompt response but I was told by Christian this vehicle was involved in a fatal accident and due to that situation, the owner could not make payments and it was repossessed. This review is mainly about my experiences with the repair shop as it relates to my current Subaru vehicle. I'm always hesitant to bring my car to a mechanic who deals with all different types of vehicles and usually lean towards someone who is very experienced with a particular brand. Dealerships fit that mold, even if the prices on most services tend to be higher, I prefer the peace of mind that comes with that. I've now done a major maintenance package and one with a simple oil change/tire rotation here and couldn't be more pleased with how I've been treated and the results that came along with it. They listened to my concerns as I explained them the best I could and the vehicle came back to me almost as good as new. I have a high-mileage sedan at this point and noises continue to pop up, belts needing replacement and so forth. I got recommendations for everything that was needed and they went above and beyond making sure the car was in tip-top shape when it was returned to me......with a fresh cleaning on the outside thrown in. The kicker for me was that since it was an all day repair, I simply asked if I could get some sort of rental and was given a brand new SUV off the lot with only 50 miles on it to drive around all day as I pleased. M SO's last repair, they wanted to charge her like $40 for the day to be put into something but that doesn't seem to be the policy in Wakefield. Bottom line, it doesn't hurt to ask. The potential buying process here was a different story and the reason it isn't a perfect 5-stars. My wife and I entered one day just looking at the Imprezas on the lot and felt extremely pressured into buying something on the spot when she was still choosing the vehicle she wanted (and ultimately, didn't end up with her Subaru). Homey don't play dat and we ended up walking out and ignoring their calls for weeks, it wasn't a pleasant experience. What a great experience! I've bought new cars from several dealers in the area and had some real issues with high-pressure sales tactics and low-balling my trade-in. In the past, its been a full-day event trying to buy a car...it seems they try and wait you out by taking forever every step of the way, but there was none of that here!! My wife and I walked into Subaru of Wakefield without an appointment after wandering the Ira lot for a while and not being able to find a salesperson to help us. We wanted to test drive the Forester, and Fozi was fantastic! He was very personable, which you'd expect from a salesperson, but he also appeared quite genuine and sincere. He listened to our priorities and what options we wanted, then brought us out to the perfect vehicle. There was zero pressure, and he even recommended a less-expensive trim than what we were initially looking at because it fit our needs better! I had a trade-in with a little damage to the clearcoat, but I did not feel that they low-balled me at all, and we were able to come to an agreement on both the new car and the trade-in in very short time. In my experience, once you get to the finance dept. that's where dealers try to hit you with all of the added expenses (extended warranties, extra options, etc.) that drive up the cost, but none of that happened. I wish I remembered the person's name who helped me, but he was great, too! He made a few recommendations on what might be worth it to get versus what was overkill, but there was zero pressure...he gave us the info plain and simple and let us decide for ourselves. In the end, we ended up with the exact vehicle that we wanted, with all of the options we wanted, for the price that we wanted. Could not recommend Subaru of Wakefield (and Fozi) more! We got this vehicle for my wife, but when it's time to replace my truck, I'll definitely be heading back! read more

I bought my Legacy from this location a few years ago and I've returned for subsequent vehicles. Your sales people are hit or miss and I recommend using something like TrueCar, etc to try to lock-in a price before going to the dealership. I've had my vehicles serviced here as well. At the time, they did not offer state inspection so a minor convenience but one that's not unexpected or difficult to overlook. I've also had my vehicles serviced here routinely. They're usually busy but they do decent work. Please note that they will sometimes delay tire/brake maintenance and if you're only going for your 2 maintenances a year, you may need to request these on your own. The waiting room is clean and fairly comfortable. Overall, the service team is pretty average and seem to skate by because the actual cars are good at meeting their demographics' needs. read more
