This place had 8 employees behind the counter I waited for 30 minutes for two sandwiches bc the guys where flirting with the girls basically told me they were more important than me. Definitely an amazing sandwich shop. I was kind of skeptical because it looked just like an ordinary Subway. Until you look at the menu, that is. They had such a variety of fresh meats (which they slice right in front of you) and unique cheeses and breads. I was so indecisive. I ended up getting the A.T.C (Avocado, Turkey, Cheese) sandwich on squaw sliced bread. It is the bread they serve as rolls at Black Angus...AMAZING!! They have fresh sliced avocado, sprouts, all veggies, and multiple sauces. I am definitely a sauce queen. They had WASABI SAUCE! I loved it! So delicious and cheap! The staff was so helpful and extremely patient! It's a bit over whelming because there is such a huge variety of sandwiches, salads, and wraps. If you are near one of these franchises I would advise you to stop and give it a try. You will definitely not be sorry! =) read more

My first visit to Submarina here and ordering online. I wait the required time and then went inside to get my sandwich. They asked my name. I said Baldwin and they said they didn't have and order for that name. I asked where the order would have gone. He told me there is another Submarina near Albertsons. I said the address is Murrieta Hot Springs Road. He said yeah. I got in my car and drove to the other Submarina near Albertrson on Sky Canyon Dr. (not Murrieta Hot Spring Road). There I was told they didn't have an order for Baldwin and they closed in 5 minutes. Their online ordering closed an hour ago so I couldn't have placed an order with them. I walked out of the store and received a text from the original Submarina stating that my order was ready. I called the phone number and told them I received a text saying my order was ready. He asked what my name was and I said Baldwin. He said he did not have an order under that name. He asked if it would be under another name. I said no that's the name that is on my credit card. Finally he asked what's your first name? I told him Debra. Oh we have that order. We only go by first names! First time ordering from Submarina! When I got back to the Submarina I asked how he thought and 67 year old woman's first name would be BALDWIN. Idiot! My sandwich was a hot meatball and by this time it had steamed to a pile of mush. My co workers and I ordered for pick up .. We ordered at around 11:30 for a 12pm pick up. The staff over the phone was incredibly sweet and patient. We ordered off of their website but unfortunately there isn't much to go off of. For example: the different sauces they offer, what kind of bread they had or the veggie add ons. I personally ordered the Santa Fe 3 inch sandwich. Since it came with a side, I ordered the macaroni salad. The portion was enough to fill me up and for only $6 it was well worth the money. Food is good, web site accuracy sucks. Hours of operation states 8pm, yet they close at 7pm.? Should we call every time to verify the actual operating hours on any particular day? Shouldn't they be making sandwiches and not answering the phones? Is the disclaimer of "hours may vary" a game with these folks? Do the stores have a giant wheel they spin, every morning, to see what time they close? "Oh look", says the spinner, "it's 3pm today, hurray, we get off early!" If you can't run a web site accurately, what does that say about your food preparation? I'll bet you that the store hours have been listed wrong for years? How many folks have driven this store only to find it closed and left thinking, "I wont be back anytime soon." If you plan on going here, call first. They might be closed or maybe not. Out of all the sandwich chains, Submarina isn't so bad. I like that they originated in San Diego and have since expanded across Southern California. Their subs are pretty big (the bread loaves are wide), even the regular sized ones, which equates to their higher prices than other chains. My usual is their Turkey Club on a squaw roll. If there's anything that has me coming back to Submarina, it's the squaw. Not many places carry that bread. Putting all the deli meat, vegetables, and dressings between it makes for a darn good sandwich. Though I like the subs here, I can't give a full four rating because the service is really inconsistent. It depends on who is working that particular shift when you come in. There have been good visits, there have been visits where people complain to management, there have been visits 20 minutes before closing where the staff have already put away the vegetables so your lettuce is swimming in water before it goes on your sandwich, and there have been my least favorite visits when one particular employee just..makes me not want to come back. She always seems to be in a hurry to shoo away customers. On one occasion, I tried a different sandwich to which she asked, "White or wheat?" so I clarified if there were other choices and her response again was "White or wheat bread?" like I was inconveniencing her. I settled with the wheat, but then her tone completely changed with the couple ordering behind me--she happily listed for them all the bread options. Way to be selective. Anyway, every time she prepares my sandwich the vegetables are just piled in the middle. Last I checked, you should at least spread it out so there's a balanced taste with each bite. This hasty preparation just ruins my enjoyment of their subs and now I go prefer to go to other locations just to avoid the possibility of this staff member being on shift. read more

I have been going into this establishment for about 2 years now and have usually had a great experience until today. The young man who got my bread and meat was good until I had my veggies put on by the young girl with reddish hair. She seemed annoyed with her job and my sandwich fell apart when I got home. Plus she forgot my avacado (I got an atc). I went back in right away to get a side of avacado and she didn't even acknowledge me. I am very disappointed in this submarina today. I have a hard time comprehending how their sandwiches are so good. I mean I watched the lady make it right in front of my face. It must be the quality of all the ingredients. The taste far exceeds any other sandwich shop. Everytime I eat here I'm reminded again how good the food is here and in always amazed, and I've been eating submarina since the one off Ynez in the mid 90s. My only negative this time is that the lids on the large drinks didn't fit very tight. Not a big deal I just had to handle the drink a little more gingerly. Oh and I wish the one on Ynez or overland were still there. I work by there and now have to drive all the way to hot springs. However the drive is well worth it. read more

Submarina used to be a great place to grab a hearty, delicious sandwich but not anymore. Both the quality and especially the quantity has decreased. I went to this location for a turkey sandwich and they weighed out the turkey and it was less meat than subway-- seeing my bread sandwich I told him thank you but I didn't want it anymore and an older lady came out and slapped the turkey on a scale and said they weigh it now. Is anyone familiar with annoying hello you get from an associate when you enter a business establishment whether it's for personal reasons or they're just having a bad day. I'm assuming the associate that greeted me today I was just having a bad day, the quite frankly I'm I'm just here for a sandwich. I still don't like politely for about a minute no one in line no one behind me watching is the two Associates cleaned and straightened up. I was there to purchase food I was there for a sandwich. I waited and was never served so I simply walked out. I don't think I'll ever come here again. If an associate can't simply ask or recognize that I'm there to purchase food then they shouldn't be working there. read more

Pro: NONE, yes, none. Con: This poor excuse of a Submarina have the absolute worse service I have ever encountered in a fast food place. Complete failure. 1. The open sign wasn't on. 2. The two lazy employees were chatting away when myself and two other patrons walked in, never greeting us. 3. The side waiting path was blocked by chairs, which made us confused on the next move - only to be yelled by one of the two workers to order up front. 4. Woman in front of my ordered a 6 inch sandwich, they promptly made two of them and blame her for it. (I was quite shocked). The one that made it then happily claim that it will be her dinner. 5. Had to mention that I want wheat bread for the 3rd time, got yelled at to speak up. *ahem*, just pay attention. 6. When the cashier finished the first woman's sandwich, she spent time to packing the "dinner"... making her wait a few minutes just standing there shaking her head. 7. Cashier girl doesn't chat, doesn't smile, doesn't ask nicely for ID. 8. There were only 3 customers in the store and we were rushed so they can go back to their booth again, chatting about nothing. I walked out and saw the other woman going over her sandwich to make sure that it checked out, I chatted with her about our experience with the crew here. The next patron walked out and start to whine about the poor service. We have a few things in common - this is the first time we been to this location, we were all offended, and we will never come back to this location again. I will go to a subway before that.
