They do rice and protein bowls and salads, and their whole thing is "macros". It's supposed to be clean eating for people who LIFT. (They may not say it that way, but they have a literal crossfit gym in their Coeur d'Alene location). The food is really good, although I am SHOCKED. Absolutely SHOCKED that they don't have a "plain" option. This place is for "food bros", and food bros love things that are just seasoned with salt. I can't believe they don't have that as an option. So why 4 stars instead of 5? A couple of minor reasons. 1) They mess up orders. A lot. I always ask for my bowl with no sauce and broccoli mixed in. Half the time it still has sauce. Half the time the broccoli is on the side. 2) Some of the people who work here are GREAT. But some of them are a really mixed bag, they act like they would rather be ANYWHERE but here working. One person literally rolled her eyes and scoffed when I came back in to ask for them to remake my bowl with no sauce. 3) The price. I get it. "clean" food is expensive, but Konala is skirting the line where it's not any less expensive than a "better" restaurant. It also means I don't take my whole family to eat here. My roommate thought his cheese steak was average, not bad but not the best he's ever had either. Pop's brownie was chocolatey and moist and a great way to end a flavorful lunch. The shack is located in a convenient spot and the lot has ample parking. Service was great. The woman helping us was friendly and even gave me a frequent buyer punch card since I told her it was my first time there. Fyi, Monday's are double punch days!
