First of all, the girl at the counter had an attitude like any question I had about their menu was an inconvenience to her. Apparently how a basket works is it's half fries/half onion rings. How is anyone supposed to know that when the only clues on the menu are "basket" and price. So she got my order wrong and I had to clarify that and get a partial refund. I guess screw me for not knowing how they operate. Next, the PRICE. I paid $35 for a basic cheeseburger basket and a double cheeseburger basket; those Do Not include drinks. Why should anyone pay that much for fried food? I certainly wasn't paying for the customer service. Next, the wait time. I placed my order at 10:58am. It took 35-40 minutes for my order to be ready. I just don't get how they could have been that backed up that early on a Saturday after being newly open for a minute. The least they could do is offer seating if they are going to make people wait half an hour for "fast food". They had no chairs inside or out on the patio. Everyone was just standing around waiting for their food. Once I finally received my food, it was raining and since we walked there I had to interact with her one more time and ask for a bag. She gave me a tiny cvs prescription bag that fit one of the baskets. I got an eye roll when I asked for a second bag for my second basket. Last, quality. The biggest takeaway was the onion rings. The batter was great and they tasted better than ones you get at an average bar/grill. You can just get those for $5 and that's probably the best deal on the menu. The rest was forgettable. If you're craving a burger and fries, go literally anywhere else.

Decades Menu Breakdown (minus Carmel Apple Empanadas) This…read moretaco bell is the closest to me so, it's my default and I've never had too bad of an experience, always get my food in a quick manner and it's always made correctly and is hot. What more can you ask for in a fast food experience? Anways, onto the breakdown of the decades menu, T-bell is notorious for re-releasing menu items and this promotion is just that, X4 (now X5). The premise is quite simple; take some best sellers from the 60's (the year of Taco Bell's conception) the 70's, the 80's, and the you guessed it, 90's...well and now the 00's. And I'm here to tell you I've tried near them all, I have to admit I'm not much of a fast food dessert fan. The ranking is as follows 1. The Tostada Why? The texture component can't be beat if eaten fresh *and this is the caveat* this has to be consumed within a time period of give or take 3 minutes after receiving it. Also, it's the simplicity of it all, no meat no problem! The silky refried beans are the perfect paste to keep everything ontop this crispy crunchy beauty. Add a specialty sauce such as jalapeño ranch or creamy chipotle and you have an extra layer of flavor. Now, usually I am one to change my meat to a conservative black bean swap but, here there is no need to dress this cheap thrill up (unless you want a swanky sauce) but, adding jalapeños is also a pro move. This should remain on the menu (just like the giant cheez-it tostada added a novel take on a cherished classic). 2. The Meximelt Why? Cheap, Gooey and Soft- just the way I remembered Taco Bell food to be! This is a two biter, a small flour tortilla Taco that screams Americanized Mexican food and sometimes that's okay. Do I know what's in it? No...but, what I do know is I traded the ground beef for black beans and it worked. This is an item that tastes like pretty much every other item on the T-Bell billboard menu but, that's okay because it's nostalgic. 3. The Gordita Surpreme Why? This is going to be a controversial one but, to me this beloved Taco Bell dish is just too bland. That's because of the amount of bread, the plush squishy gordita shell is akin to a floury pita and there's just not enough texture. Maybe it was my mistake to do my dtandby swap of meat for beans, maybe beans are bland? I just don't think Taco Bell knows what a gordita is and fans of this really must like bland bread. I don't know what all the hype is about? 4. Verde Burrito Why? One word- Mushy. Thus burrito is supposed to be made of three components, refried beans, cheese and Verde sauce and even an upgrade to balck beans couldn't save it. Verde sauce is good but not that good that it can constitute an upcharge to use in packet form ...and it also can't save a boring bean and cheese burrito. This is my comprehensive review of the taco bell decades menu.

Like most visits, I was encouraged to use the kiosk. Normally fine... unless you're trying to redeem one of their "special offers." Today's challenge: free burger with a medium fry and drink. Simple in theory. Not so simple on the kiosk. So I tracked down the manager, who was mid-balloon installation duties (multi-talented crew, clearly), and he kindly stepped in to enter my order. All set. Then I waited. And waited. After about 8 minutes, someone from the kitchen came out, looked at me like I might be part of the décor, and asked if I'd been helped. Two minutes later, my order magically appeared. Which leads me to wonder... Did the manager get so caught up in balloon artistry that he forgot about me standing at the counter? To be fair, the restaurant wasn't busy. The food was good. But if the process is going to push customers to kiosks, it might be worth making sure the "special offers" actually work on them... or that balloon duty doesn't override order follow-through. Still love Whataburger. Just not sure if I should've stayed in the car behind those four people.
