I don't know what happened to the recipe, but this is not Cajun Rice as longtime Popeyes customers remember it. It lacked the flavor that made it a favorite for decades. The chicken itself was just as disappointing. The skin wasn't crispy--it was hard. Several pieces looked like they had been fried twice. The coating was dry, overly dark, and unpleasant to eat. The one bright spot was a young woman working there who was incredibly polite, friendly, and courteous. She provided excellent customer service, and I don't blame the employees. They appear to be doing the best they can with what they're given. The responsibility falls on management. They need to step up and bring this restaurant back to the standards the Popeyes name is supposed to represent. As someone who has enjoyed Popeyes for over four decades, this location should be embarrassed by the quality of food they are serving. We drove nearly two hours for medical appointments and thought stopping here would be a nice change. Instead, it was one of the most disappointing fast-food meals we've had in a long time. Sadly, after this experience, I don't expect we'll be making the trip back.
