Val's Drive-In is a diner staple in the twin cities of Maine. Known for their homemade Root Beer, they offer drive-up service where you order and eat in your car. If you like sweet potato fries, you have to order a larger because a small is not enough once you start eating them. They offer burgers, hot dogs (red and brown), lobster rolls, chicken tenders, clam cakes, ice creams sundaes, and of course root beer floats. You can eat in your car or at one of their picnic tables in the rear of the building. On occasion they will have antique car shows and you can also work on your baseball swing at their batting cages. I highly recommend this if you are visiting thew Lewiston/Auburn area as you will not be disappointed. I have been going here for over 30 years, so they must be doing something right if they are always my go to for a quick meal.

Let's get the "negatives" right out of the way: ... now that that's over with, on to the positives: It's fast, it's diner food brought to your window, it's reasonably priced, our carhopesses were super friendly, the food was cooked perfectly. You guys, it's greasy, fast food- so don't come for me.. Yes- the parking lot is weird but just get in where you fit in, it's a horse shoe shape, if the first row is full, park behind someone- when they leave, you pull up to the front so someone else can scoot in behind you! Eaaaaasy peasy! Cash only, be nice to your carhops bc they're running around in the heat, and in typical Maine fashion, it'll be busy in the summer. Xoxo 10/10 would recommend.

Despite being only 35 years old, I actually really like drive INS. Yes I grew up with drive-thru, but my parents introduced me to many things from their generation that I still hold fondness for. Out looking for a family lunch, I decided a drive-in would be a good idea because my kids would probly be asleep by the time we got there. So off we went to the New place I discovered on Yelp. We pulled into a spot and parked and a waitress came over and put a tag on our windshield under the wiper. After looking at the menu, somewhat limited but covering all of the traditional bases, we flashed our lights as indicated for service. The waitress made clear that this place is CASH ONLY Several times to make sure nobody was confused. We were told that day was buy 1 get 1 hamburgers, so we each got our own with the toppings we prefer. The hamburgers were $3 and could not have been more than 1/8 of an inch thick. The taste was acceptable but I found the quality sub par. The poutine was incredibly salty and was essentially French fries with gravy and 4 chunks of cheese on top. $5 for a small order and I expect more than that. The Onion rings were overly greasy in my opinion, but I am sensitive to that. Well there are other things on the menu such as hot dogs to try, driving all the way to Lewiston is a far trip for us and if it had been worse it, we would return. This is not worth it in our opinion.

Been going here since I was a kid. Friendly smiling waitresses and fabulous root beer floats and hot dogs. You can always find a good weekly special. Their lobster rolls are excellent, too! Stop in and enjoy some great food , great pricesand service with a smile!

Great old school roadside burger joint. Had cheeseburger and fries along with trademark root beer float. Very tasty. Will definitely come back next time I'm in L-A.

The food was what I was expecting and hoping for....rich, indulgent food, that met my savory and sweet cravings. We were greeted immediately upon walking through the door and were instructed to sit any where we wanted. We had plenty to choose from around 10:30am on Saturday, even on a holiday weekend. All of the open tables, were clean and ready for new patrons. The restaurant was about half full and appeared to be mostly regulars, as they were chatting with the staff and each other. I love local places that know the locals that well. Our drink orders were taken within a minute of sitting. The hot chocolate were rich and creamy even without whipped cream. I opted not to have it added. I ordered a blueberry muffin as my "appetizer". They offer it as is, or grilled. I love it grilled and it was good and not too filling. For our meals we ordered a table pancake (meaning, a pancake for sharing). It was fluffy and perfectly good - nice and hot. They have "syrup" and it reminded me of being a kid and having Log Cabin syrup. I didn't ask, but it didn't taste like pure maple syrup. I ordered the corned beef hash skillet with a grilled english muffin. It was perfectly cooked and it was delicious. It tasted like canned corned beef hash and I was not mad about it. I truly wanted comfort food and this hit. My friend had the S.O.S. (gravy with beef and pork) AKA Sh*t on a Shingle. It looked soooo good and she stated the biscuit and gravy and meat were good. We took our leftovers home, which will tell you, the portions were decent, the food was delicious and no delicious food would be left behind. I recommend this restaurant if you are interested in diner food, with quick friendly service and plenty of space. I definitely want to come back and get the S.O.S.

I never really considered checking it out until my in-laws suggested we go for lunch one day. I always just saw the sign and kept on driving. Now, it is good... and as a bariatric patient, I am usually pretty hesitant to try new places simply because of my restrictions; however, I was pleased to find that there were options that worked for my post-op food plan. Yes, there's a lot of fried options, and there's a lot of pasta, but the stir-fry is what got me saying, "yeah I'll give it a go," and later, "yeah, I'd come back." The food has been consistent, and with a young child (who is a fantastic eater and not that picky... but still), that's huge for us. The service has always been great. They are accommodating, punctual, and friendly. Our most recent visit was extra impressive, because our server happily made sure to spend a little extra time and had so much patience with my five year old who is learning how to order for himself. Give it a go, friends. It's a pretty solid spot.

I went with the South of the Border Burger. No bun, pepperjack cheese and chili. They all blended together so well. The slight spice of the chili and cheese was a great topping mixture for the beef patty. The fries were right in the middle of crispy and soft. The North of the border burger was, "very tasty. Awesome flavor!" Which is a good review from my Dad who isn't much for extra on details. My brother got the Korean BBQ sliders special (not on menu pictures provided). The flavors were awesome. Lucky the kimchi came on the side, my brother wasn't too keen on the fermented cabbage. My mom had the curried chicken wrap, no wrap. So the kitchen made it a salad for her. Sh loves salad and curry.
