I grabbed a shopping cart and my son was excited to jump in and help me pick out all of the goodies. I grabbed handmade cheese balls, classic old-time candy for our gingerbread house, pretzels stuffed with peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies that were proudly advertised as having no additives or preservatives. Don't worry, these cookies didn't last more than 5 minutes with my kids. Outside, there is a fun petting zoo, where you can buy feed and raise it up on a conveyer belt to feed the goats. Also, there are playgrounds that are fantastic. They're also available to buy but so nice the kids could experience such a high quality play set while I shopped. It was one of our highlights in visiting Madison.

The store was very organized and had such a huge variety of products and options to browse through. Everyone was friendly, and I truly could've spent an hour just walking around looking. Even at checkout, the cashier was very kind and welcoming. I would definitely stop back in if I'm ever in the area again!

Their menu is great, such a nice assortment of soooo many things I absolutely LOVE, but our server told me how amazing the taco assortment and the smash burger was that we got one of each, with me getting the smash burger. Our food came out rather quickly and was amazing, fresh, tasty, and PERFECTLY PREPARED!!! My smash burger was excellent! Exactly what a smash burger should be. I asked for jalapeños to be added to it and they added fresh sliced jalapeños which nicely enhanced the flavor. I typically don't eat the fries that come as a side dish, but these were so darn amazing that I ate them all! They were perfectly double-fried for crispness, yet were fresh, hot, perfectly salted, and sooo tasty! Our experience, the food, the quality, and the service was very nice. I will definitely return!

For an appetizer, we ordered the salsa, spinach artichoke dip and hips. My son ended up going with his standby favorite, a cheeseburger, while I got the pulled pork sandwich and my partner and daughter shared the spaghetti topped with shrimp. Basically, all our favorite foods! For dessert, we recommend the paletas (delicious ice pops). Our kids had so much fun picking out their favorites. Our daughter got the cookies and cream that was packed with full-sized oreos inside, while my son got the classic cherry flavor. The restaurant is decorated for the holidays and we loved getting our photo in front of their Christmas tree. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. This is a definite must-stop spot in Madison.

Truly cannot recommend Early Mountain enough! It is one of the most beautiful wineries I've…read morevisited- the tasting room reminds me of Crimson Lane or Barboursville- and definitely one of the more upscale options of the wide range of Virginia wineries. The wines are excellent and there are several tasting options you can choose- I believe there was a red flight, a white flight, and a "signature" option that had both. You also have the option to build your own flight, which I always love. The 2024 rosé is a standout, we picked up several bottles to bring home. We could not believe how good the food was- it was worth a trip in its own right! It's on the pricier side but it is clear why, the plates wouldn't be out of place at a fine dining restaurant. We also had the kindest server, Chelsie, who made our experience so special and memorable! She stopped by to chat several times, gave us great recommendations, and she could not have been nicer to me and my friends. We were lucky enough to attend our dear friends' wedding here and it was a spectacular wedding venue. The space is just beautiful and the catering was incredible- some of the best wedding food we've had by far. We liked it so much we came back to visit the tasting room the next day :) This is a perfect stop on the way to Charlottesville from the DMV and a gorgeous place to spend an afternoon.

The wine was delicious and the property is absolutely stunning both inside and out. Not sure if they were just having an off day or they thought we weren't gonna spend any $ there due to us having dogs/ not being dressed up at all but if it wasn't for the food/drinks/ aesthetics and we think was one of the managers coming to say hi to us I would have probably left less stars. - SpicyAivy

I had an excellent, generous, gracious meal at the Bavarian Chef this afternoon for my birthday…read more I'm still groaning! The food was fabulous and we got the full complement of sides--whipped potatoes, green beans, creamed corn, spaetzle, carrots and apples, potato dumplings, zucchini, braised red cabbage, German potato salad, maybe more (my belly's so full, I'm not remembering well...)--rye rolls, red pepper soup with crab, trout with almonds (yum!). We had a very nice dry German Riesling and. German Pinot Noir. The five of us shared a piece of the amazing German chocolate cake. Our server, Nick, was very pleasant, efficient and professional--good at his job and possessing a beautiful, warm smile. I had an Asbach Sidecar that was very well made. I see a negative review from a couple of months ago (~February 2026-ish?) that sounds like it was written about another restaurant, not the delightful Bavarian Chef I know and love. The writer of that poor review seems to have been enjoying the sound of her own writing (which leans toward the overly dramatic and away from anything like an honest review) more than trying to express anything real about the Bavarian Chef. She seems to have an ax of some kind to grind, as she could find not one nice, decent thing to say. I disagree with her with every well-seasoned, perfectly cooked vegetable and flavorful rye roll digesting in my belly right now. The Bavarian Chef is a treat. You'd be a fool to miss it!

My family grabbed a booth right by the front window, which allowed us to watch the action inside the restaurant as well as Main Street. The coffee was fresh and they were great about topping it off. For our breakfast, I got the cheese and ham omelette served with potatoes. My partner also got an omelette but got the grits for his side (great choice!). Service: kind staff but slow service. Seating was full, so likely some of the wait was due to that. Ambiance: loud to the point it was hard to hear the people sitting at our own table. Table across from us was full of children with no adult supervision, and the younger kids were rambunctious, and the older kids wound up screaming at them. Same kids were yelling outside the bathrooms and wandering in and out of the back repeatedly. Just too loud for me and my group.
