The Rustic Oven in Middleton is in the corner of a strip mall next to a very clean, organized Idaho Yourh Ranch. But back to the food... They specialize in sandwiches--hot and cold--and baked goods. Since my time with my mom is special, I go a little extra each time. So we started with a Nutella roll. Holy heck. It was amazing. Kinda like the best chocolate chip cookie you've ever eaten. I got one to-go for my daughter too. My mom ate half of her pastrami sandwich so she could have another treat! She picked out a Huckleberry cream cheese pasty. So good, but so rich. I enjoyed my roast beef hot recommended by the delightful hostess, Avah. Her pride in their many offerings was evident. We took home the rest of our sandwiches. But right when she got home, my mom wanted the rest of her pastrami. I know she was full but it was that good that she had to finish it while it was still fresh. That's quite a testimonial. The Rustic Oven will be our new go-to place! PS: In Yelp, it's mistakenly described as a food truck. Avah explained that they used to offer pizza via a food truck, but that was years ago.

Over the years it has gone down hill. The last few times, anything we tried seemed old. Dry Thanksgiving bread rolls, baked goods (cookies, scones, cinnamon rolls) that were not fresh. Today we tried sandwiches at lunch, noon on a Thurs. My ciabatta roll on the hot honey sandwich was the driest bread I've ever received at a restaurant & I'm not exaggerating. It was so hard it didn't move when squeezed. We called to let them know & the person that answered didn't apologize and only said "thanks". I don't know how a person could make a sandwich on that bread & think it was okay to sell to a customer. We live in town & likely will not be back. I hope the owner reads this review: please save your bakery.

We arrived around 5pm and the place was empty with the exception of one family, but drive thru was consistent. We were able to place our orders quickly. Even though the combo upgrade (fries or tots + drink) is very affordable, overall meals are a tad on the pricier side. We ordered a basic cheeseburger combo and the Bacon Cowboy highland burger combo, total was $29, not including tip. The place has a "not updated since 1990", but clean vibe. Food came out quickly and our customized meals came out correctly. We were a tad underwhelmed with the look of the burgers...for the price we were hoping for a wow factor. The burger patties were pretty thin and overcooked (more chewy than melt in your mouth). Toppings were fresh and the buns were soft. Tater tots and fries were perfectly cooked, though fries come out unsalted which I'm not sure was intentional or not (I appreciated the option to salt to taste). Overall, a pleasant experience and I wouldn't mind trying other items on the menu.

The pies are fresh baked. My favorite dessert are the chocolate chip cookies with sea salt on top. I have also been there for prime rib. The portion is generous and cooked to your taste buds. Let me start with the pros. The service was incredibly friendly. The food was delivered to our table still hot, which is a huge plus for me. The bacon on the loaded fries was absolutely delicious. The flavor of my prime rib dip sandwich itself was pretty good. Now for the cons. We ordered the loaded fries appetizer for $8 and were both surprised by how small the portion was. I knew the moment I saw the cup of au jus for my prime rib dip that it wasn't going to have much flavor, and I was right. It was more like basic beef broth straight from a can. Au jus is what makes a French dip so good but this just didn't cut it. My husband ordered a patty melt and after just a few bites, he had a strange look on his face. I asked him what was wrong and he said the taste and texture of the meat was unusual to him. I looked at it and took it bite myself and agreed. The only way to describe it is like the patty was made up of ground Slim Jim beef sticks or something like it. My husband didn't particularly care for it and he also felt like everything was over seasoned. When he questioned our server about what kind of meat was used in his sandwich, she couldn't explain what the difference was between his sandwich and what they use in their burgers, just that it was a different patty of some sort. Another con is that all of their salad dressings at their salad bar or in squeeze bottles. My dressing of choice is blue cheese, which doesn't squeeze well from a bottle when the chunks of cheese gets stuck in the nozzle. Not a big deal, but frustrating when you're trying to squeeze it onto your salad praying that it doesn't suddenly explode all over the place. Two sandwiches, one with a side salad substitution for fries, and a small plate of loaded fries and waters to drink was a $50 dinner. As I said at the beginning It wasn't a bad experience, it just wasn't great. For a $50 dinner it was just okay. But I would definitely give it five stars for the friendly service and the fact that the food was served hot.

I called to place an order and was treated with kindness from the moment they answered the phone. Since we live fairly close, we ended up opting for pickup instead of delivery. The restaurant was clean and had a bit of a vintage feel. I'm not sure it's a place I'd choose to dine in, but we've ordered takeout twice now and have been very pleased with the cauliflower pizza both times. We've tried both the pepperoni and BBQ chicken cauliflower pizzas and enjoyed them. I also ordered the BBQ chicken wings. The BBQ sauce was delicious, but the wings were a little too fatty for my liking. I think I would have enjoyed them more if they had been a bit crispier. One thing to keep in mind is that the cauliflower pizza only comes in one size--a 12-inch pizza cut into six small slices. They may be marketed as shareable, but my husband polished off an entire pizza by himself! If you're feeding more than two or three people, you'll definitely want to order accordingly. Overall, the friendly service and tasty cauliflower pizza will keep us coming back. If you're looking for a lower-carb pizza option, this place is worth a try!
