New year, new review…read more Popped in after a morning of skiing New Year's Day and place was packed for lunch! I didn't mind as I was in no rush. As I waited in line I enjoyed conversations with both the people in front and behind me whom all have never been before. The joy and excitement on their faces as they made their way to order was priceless. As for myself, a small mac to help start the new year strong for total lbs sold (81k in 2024) and a small pulled pork. Wanted to order some other things but my refrigerator is full at home, so another time. If this will be your first time, just be aware of parking could be very busy as there's not much. Both ways before pull out of parking spaces as well. Main road can be a cluster at times. I also recommend getting lots of little things rather than a little of a lot. There was plenty of street parking since it was Sunday and three people waiting inside when I arrived. We ordered a couple of simple deli sandwiches with cheese, lettuce and mayo, figuring those would be fast and easy. As I walked over to a table, I noticed that some of the chairs were still on top of their respective tables, and the floor was sticky. I hate sticky floors, and then recalled they were sticky the last time I came here, perhaps a year ago. But my order was in and paid for, so I grabbed a seat. After 10 minutes, I went outside for a few minutes. The three people who were waiting upon my arrival, were still there. Two more had arrived a moment earlier. Five more minutes elapsed, and I peaked inside and noticed nothing had changed. I was in a deli time warp! After a generous 20 minutes, our two sandwiches were ready. They were large, the rolls were soft, they were pretty good. That said, Uptown could benefit from some improved throughput, and a good floor cleaner!

I stopped by Family Delicatessen on a Saturday and ordered the Green Goddess, a vegetarian option with hummus, avocado, apple, and lots of veggies. I will give them credit: they did not skimp on the veggies! However, there was not a whole lot of hummus or avocado so it kind of just tasted like eating veggies on a piece of baguette. A very good piece of baguette, to be fair, but I just wish there had been a little more flavor. The deli itself is very cute with lots of imported Italian foods, like unique pastas and sauces. Service was speedy and super friendly. I definitely need to go back to give them another chance!
