Nice staff. Fresh quality food. Place is clean and pleasant. Product is way overpriced for what you get.

However, there are times, you just want a bahn mi, or something quick to grab - a very Vietnamese thing. Where can you go? Enter, Renton Deli! Renton Deli, located in the Renton Highlands neighborhood, IS NOT a western/American deli. It is very much a Vietnamese deli with an all Vietnamese menu. There is no Pho to be had here. However, there are some quintessential Vietnamese grab and go classics that are here. Noodles (i.e. Bun) with sausages, Hum bao, and of course lots of Vietnamese style desserts. However, if a bahn mi is what you are looking for, look no further. There is pulled chicken, grilled pork and tofu available. Please be advised, this is not a fast process. You will be waiting at least 10-12 minutes for your sandwich. Longer if there is a line. But that's okay. Plan accordingly, as these sandwiches are made to order, and hot. Don't forget to grab some soda's in the case behind you to finish the experience. Add Renton Deli to your routine of great grab and go cuisine in our fair city of Renton.

Giving this place a solid 4.5, for being a corner store it has some great eats including Dole Whip!…read more We just met a bunch of friends for brunch on the last Saturday of the month, Soulfood Sunday. They have a list of combos that are huge portions for at least 2-3 meals? My husband got the fried catfish with choice of 3 sides & I got the 3 wings with 3 sides combo. The catfish was moist on the inside & light & crisp with a cornmeal crust on the outside. 2 big filets in his combo with 3 sides, he chose Mac & cheese, collard greens with turkey neck meat(no pork) & candied yams...all so tasty & huge portions. The special today was chicken etouffee served on a bed of white rice for $13! The gravy was rich & flavorful, the chicken was tender. So tasty...they also have a combo with BBQ ribs that are so tender the meat falls off the bone clean! All combos also come with a square slice of cornbread. Their cornbread is more cake like & sweet style. The owner Kenny is nice & hospitable, attentive always making sure everything is ok. I was too full for Dole Whip today but they had original pineapple flavor & watermelon as well...the 2nd flavor changes periodically but they always have pineapple. Soulfood Sunday is always the last Sunday of the month but they always have wings, catfish, grilled sandwiches & more on the daily & they even have a tables & chairs as well as a high counter seating along the window. Stop by for some hearty tasty eats! The store side of the shop has some really great products...way better than any corner store you've stepped foot in, very nice shop. Unexpected little corner market with good food, great groceries & all the vibes. Check it out the next time you are in downtown Renton.

We don't go super often since the menu is pretty much the same, but we are always so pleased with the food when we do go. You might think their claims about having the best sandwich is exaggeration. I've had a lot of good sandwiches, and this one is up there. I try to limit my meat intake, so I only ate a bite of my son's. It was a perfect bite. Their other sandwiches are extremely good too. Just try the shrimp. My one problem with them is that they are quite decadent, so I don't dare eat them too often. If I could, I would get one every time. Aside from the sandwiches, the platters are really good. My husband absolutely loves their rojo sauce. My son has also tried the jambalaya and just loves it. Great place.

Very pretty, To order, you walk up to the counter and place your order from the menu behind the counter The menu offer sandwiches, bowls, sharables and sides. We were going to have dinner in a few hours, so we decided to split the sandwich and some fries. I'm very glad we did. The gal who helped us was very kind and helpful. If you looked up service with a smile, you would see her face. We did tell her we were splitting the sandwich and it arrived cut in half. I don't know if that's normal or if she had it done because we were sharing. The food arrived with two plate plates (the gal heard us- great service) We ordered a side of Yucca fries, which came with an aïoli and a Caribbean roast sandwich. The fries were crispy on the outside, dusted with a signature seasoning and tender on the inside. Yucca is denser and more chewy than potato but quite tasty. The aïoli served with the fries was yummy. The real star, however is the Caribbean roast sandwich. They did not skimp on sandwich filling. The pork was tender to the point of melting in your mouth and so flavorful. I love making me some grilled onions and there were grilled ones along with some jalapeños. I don't know if it was paid, but I did find a sandwich hard to eat because it was a little messy, but let me tell you I do not stop me from finishing. I grabbed a fork so I could eat any pieces that fell out. Very tasty. great service

That being said, yesterday's visit was amazing - chicken tenders were incredibly fresh and perfectly made and cooked, and the older blonde woman was genuinely kind and helpful which made it a positive experience!! The jojos were also fresh and delicious, and the original chicken sandwich (next time we want to try the spicy though) was extremely good and came with a slice of american cheese. Their homemade ranch (.75¢ ea) that's kept inside the case on the counter with the other dressings and salads is one of the best ranch dressings we've ever had - it almost tastes just like Outback spicy ranch but without the kick. They also offer free hot sauce, ketchup and bbq packets. Definitely give this place a try if you're in the mood for some good, hot deli food!

Upping walking up to the gas station, I could smell the aroma of freshly fried food and I thought maybe I was in a for a nice treat. The food was sitted under heat lamps and most of it looked pretty fresh. The jojos are large and have a great crust on it. The seasoning is pretty solid too. The interior of the potato wedge was soft and nice contrast to the crust. The chicken tenders were fresh and actually moist. They were the most surprisingly the best thing I ate from here. The fried chicken left some to desire. The chicken wings were dry. Just dry and not good. The crust on the chicken thighs was good though. It was seasoned well and super crispy. The meat on the thigh wasn't as dry as the chicken wings but definitely not as moist or juicy as you would expect a thigh to be. The guy helping me was friendly although I had to repeat my order quite a few times. Overall, glad I tried it but in the world of gas station fried chicken - I wouldn't come out of my way to come back.

I'll be honest--the service felt a bit odd when we first walked in. We were told we could wait a while to get seated at the dinning area or that we could seat ourselves at the bar. Since it was our first time, I wasn't sure if that meant the actual bar counter or tables in the bar area. When I asked for clarification, there was a bit of an awkward pause before someone finally explained we could sit at a table in the bar section. That said, once we got settled, the experience improved. The server who took care of us was very kind and attentive. I ordered my usual go-to at breakfast spots: chicken fried steak with a biscuit. It was really good--definitely hearty and comforting without being overly greasy. That said, it is a heavy meal (fried food plus gravy), so be prepared for a post-brunch nap. The biscuit looked a little underwhelming at first, but it actually tasted great. The overall vibe of the place is very much a local dive bar feel, and the service style matches that. As long as you go in with the right expectations, it makes for an enjoyable, laid-back brunch. Also worth noting--there's a decent amount of parking in the back, which is always a plus. Overall, a solid spot for a casual, no-frills brunch.
