After seeing Doofers recommended as the best burger in Renton in a local Facebook group, we decided to give it a try, especially since our favorite burger joint is closed on Mondays. When we walked in, it wasn't clear whether we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. We patiently waited and finally asked a server, who made us feel a little silly for even asking. Not the warmest start. Once seated, however, our server was fantastic. She was friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our meal. We both went with burgers. I ordered the blue cheese burger topped with bacon and a side of fries. Unfortunately, it fell flat. The patty was dry, lacked flavor, and was charred to a crisp. The fries were lukewarm and under-seasoned. My dining partner ordered the mushroom Swiss burger. It was definitely messy, but he really enjoyed it, rating it an 8 out of 10. He chose the side salad, which he said was decent, though it looked a bit sad. The ranch wasn't house-made and didn't add much. I'd return to Doofers, but I wouldn't go out of my way. It's certainly not the best burger in Renton, in my opinion. Next time, I'd try something different on the menu and probably a different side as well. read more

Large portions of food but they desperately need to hire more servers. Or have bartenders that are standing around, help the servers out by running food to the tables. The food is probably excellent and I have heard that it is but I couldn't tell from this visit. Sadly our food was really cold by the time it was served to us. I watched our food sit on the kitchen counter for over 15min while the 2 servers were helping other tables. They were so incredibly swamped. Our server was friendly and working really hard but she just had too many tables to manage. And she said she'd only been working there about a month. Remarkably the kitchen staff were quick and had orders ready lickety split. Overall, I probably won't order the Doofers burger again because honestly it was too big. Well and the bun was soggy because it sat so long. I should have just ordered a regular cheeseburger. Our tater tots were also really cold. Took forever to pay the tab as well. Overall I think we were there 3hrs. The whole ordeal was kind of a bad experience and I left feeling really sorry for the servers. The fried chicken is the go to there at Doofers! Half of my pool team ended up getting the fried chicken and the other half tried other things which ended up being good as well. The staff are friendly through and through. They are typically quite busy around 5-8PM for dinner. Spacious for pool players and diners! read more

We have been to Doofers a few times throughout the years, food always takes a while to come out and servers are really busy. Food was generally good. We went today for the Friday prime rib, the order was wrong the first time and the second time the side was wrong. The prime rib was over cooked. The food is always AMAZING. We love the blue chicken salad, blue chicken burger, and their french dips are old school, aka-delicious. The only negatives are that they turn the music up so loud you cannot chat during dinner or drinks, unless you shout. The waitresses hussle but the kitchen NEVER has enough staff and I feel horrible for the chef. Plan on adding a bit of extra time so you don't end up frustrated. It is a family friendly restaurant, however, Jay Berry's down the street is a much quieter place on family night. Best burgers around, hands down. read more

Got invited to have breakfast and Doofers it is. Had their eggs Benedict w/sausage patty substituted for the Canadian bacon. I got to say, I was surprised. Crispy edges to the muffins was perfect! I was gonna give 4 stars because the place is a bit dated and would love to see a refresher of this spot, however, I still have this meal in my head as they also made the hash browns perfectly too. It was the right amount of food as I cleaned this plate good. Awesome service as my meal was delivered right when I arrived. Delicious! Great company too, meet a real nice lady as we were eating at the bar counter. That makes this place unique as we can have breakfast to dinner at the bar counter. We got really great recommendations for this place, though we're warned as people of color that this bar is... a bit strange towards people like us, to say the least. We definitely picked up on that and were treated strangely out of the gate, but tried to enjoy the hour we planned on spending there. It was a simple bar, though just not inviting or welcoming in any way by the staff, or clear regulars. Ambience was cool, they had pool, darts, and big tvs everywhere for games. We were free to sit anywhere and popped over to the counter to grab beers. They said they'd head over to our table to order but despite it being pretty empty, it took a while, probably 15 minutes after getting our beer. There was a game on so most of the staff was talking with regulars or watching the game. Though the service wasn't great, the food was beyond good for a local bar. We got a few typical apps, a cubano, and blue cheese burger. The best I've had out of bar in a while^ Wouldn't come back but food was good, and great spot for games. read more

There was a soccer game going on where a couple tables were closely watching, but it wasnt over the top where they make their business everyone's business. -Waitress was sweet, not bothersome, and was present to check on us after getting our meal, when it was time to order, and when we were done if we were ready for the check/if we wanted to order more. -Food & drinks. I mean a couple of us in our party ordered a beer and it tasted like it should, so thats a plus. We all ordered different items for food. The Oriental Salad, my aunt in law says its good. The Clubhouse Sandwich, my husband says wasnt bad. The Cowboy Burger, my uncle in law, said is always his go to here at Doofers so it was still great to him. The Bleu Cheese Burger, I loved. The cheese melted atop the patty with the condiments mixed in was delicious. Bun was crisp on the edges, so had satisfying bites throughout. CONS: -Place is a bit dingy but expected because it is a bar afterall. However, didnt like that you can see all the dirt at the bottom of the table and at the side of the table. Basically, cleaning is just like the phrase "sweeping under the rug". -Huge parking lot, but because its next to a venue, tons of people are parked for the venue and Doofers. I was referred to Doofers by a few patrons of Marco Polo in Seattle, since they both offer broasted chicken on their menu. The nice thing about Doofers is that they've got a kid-friendly section if you've got kids, yet the section isn't too close to the bar so those preferring a kid-free environment have decent separation. Unfortunately, the wait times for the chicken were close to 40 minutes, which is about 10 minutes more than it would take without a small backup. That's not too long to wait for such great chicken, but this time I brought my kids and they wouldn't last that long, so I'm planning a return trip without them. The food was good. We tried the potato, chicken fingers, chicken wings, chili and fries (it wasn't a very healthy dinner, that's for sure). They were really good, but the chicken came out a bit too charred for my taste which is the only thing preventing me from giving them five stars. The service was excellent, despite being packed that night which meant that service wasn't speedy, but she was definitely friendly and attentive. I'm also pretty sure she would've taken care of the chicken wing issue, but I didn't have enough time to pursue this. I had a dirty martini, gin it DEEELICIOUS. My bf had a Bloody Mary and said he'd return just for the Bloody Mary. I had the sliders, I could only eat one and had tots. Both were good. Credit cards are accepted. Doofers is family friendly. For those that like to gamble, pull tabs are available. During our Sunday morning visit, Doofers was jam packed. I would have preferred to sit in the bar; however, we had to take what was available in the family dining area. While looking over the menu, I slurped on a Lush IPA for $7.50 and my girlfriend slurped on a Mac & Jack for $6.75. For my meal I chose the Breakfast Burrito for $13.95: sausage, bacon, ground beef, cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese, and salsa wrapped in a tortilla topped with sour cream. I chose the Country Potatoes as my side. Doofers has a variety of Tabasco flavors so I chose my favorite habanero Tabasco to garnish my burrito with. My girlfriend opted for Country Fried Steak & Egg Breakfast for $14.95. My girlfriend is allergic to eggs and requested her meal be served without them. Our server should have reduced the meal price accordingly since my girlfriend was unable to eat the three eggs that come with this meal. Food was satisfactory. Prices are honest. The service was a little slow (which is kind of odd since it wasn't busy) which my only real complaint. It's a bit "dingy"--not dirty, but, for example, the cushion on our booth was literally held together with black duct tape--but if you're going to a dive bar, it's probably not gonna bother you. Don't get me wrong, the food was fine just no real "wow" factor. Doofers Burger was huge, but the burger patties were dense and dry. I was hoping for a juicy burger so it was a bit of a letdown. The Famous Broasted Chicken was good, but I still like Ezell's much better. The JoJo potatoes were bland and lacked any real flavor. Seemed to be large wedges of fried russet potatoes without any seasoning but came with a side of ranch dressing. The hot pastrami sandwich was average at best. Thinly sliced but you can tell it wasn't made fresh like a Jewish deli. I started coming here because I frequented the strip mall location. I would take my son to the tutor across the street get my nails done next-door and go to the gym across the parking lot. So on my off days from working out, I'd like to go over and play pool, grab a drink and grab something to eat. It looks as it is. It's kind of a chill neighborhood, bar and Grill that plays the sports games. Actually, I'd say it's more like a sports bar. The burgers are really great. In my opinion. They have burger Thursdays and a whole burger month. I believe the cooks really know what they're doing. The drinks are OK, if you're looking for simple sports bar type drink or a beer, they have a good thing going on. But they don't have like handcrafted cocktails or anything fancy like that. It's a chill place to go watch a game and grab something to eat. The prices are steep now. I remember their burgers were affordable beforehand. Doofers is an interesting joint. It has a good ole' Renton atmosphere. In fact, doofers is of legend for good times and a good beer on tap. However... that's where I'm afraid the magic ends because the food, the mixed drinks, they totally, unequivocally... a mixed bag. That's right my good friends! Burgers are dry and cold. Drinks aren't mixed properly and taste nasty. Things take forever, but that's not why should go to Doofers. See, Doofers is more than a resturant or bar.... it's a happening. That greasy arcade they have of Big Buck Hunter. That game of pool your fourth cousin removed wants to play with you while you wait one hundred and ten minutes for your food. Or down a few Mac and Jacks while your ex-wife screams at you. It's Renton's finest, but all in one place and more concentrated, not unlike a bottle of Pepto Bismol Ultra. And that's what you're going to need after your Chicken and Waffles burger. And I mean, lots of it and you're also going to have to get a beaver to take care of all of those logs. So if it sounds like we can't stand the place, quite the contrare! We love Doofers! We keep going back and we always will. We'll be there not because it's a Renton staple, and not because we like the food, but because our friends love it and we love our friends. So here's to Doofers. When people decide to dine in, they have certain expectations. I'm not particularly fussy about service, and I don't need (or want) a server to hover over me. However, on a recent visit to Doofer's, I sat in plain sight eating my meal for 30 minutes and not once did my server check in on me. When it was clear that I had finished, she came to get my plate asking, "All set?" Only then was I able to ask for a coffee refill, which at that point, my cup was bone dry. I sat there with my 2nd cup of coffee for another 30 minutes before she asked if I wanted anything else. Then I was able to get the check. When my server was processing my payment, she put on a real pleasant smile. At that point, however, no degree of kissing up would have compensated for her not doing her job for the past hour. Apathy? Laziness? A training issue? Regardless, I doubt she'd appreciate that level of "service" when dining out. Was the place swamped? No. It was moderately busy with many empty chairs. Had my server clearly been busting her butt, I wouldn't be writing this. The guy who brought me my food had three times the personality. He should be a server. I didn't get her name, but she is twenty-something, black hair pulled back in a short ponytail, and though not full-on obese, she is quite chunky. My advice: scope out the place and choose a seat that avoids her, or get your food to-go. read more

I liked the food for the money, and the service was generally good. It seemed like the waitress knew everyone. The bar was well stocked, and locals are the majority of the patrons, which is always a positive. Several people had suggested that we go there, and I had low expectations. My wife works just down the road and we live less than 10 minutes away. It isn't a Michelin restaurant, but that isn't what it is trying to be. It is a local spot to shoot pool, hang out, drink a beer (and/or eat a burger) and watch a game. I enjoyed my time there, and will return for sure! We bought 2 basic cheeseburgers and both were dry. I think they were precooked earlier and then recooked. I had to wait for my order so they were made fresh. My wife threw hers in the garbage and I had a few bites and then discarded. Waste of money. The fries and onion rings were salty and had too much white pepper but it is bar food. The pics of the burgers on the menu look amazing but the actual food is dry and inedible. I can only assume that the cook hates his job and is trying to get all patrons to never get food there again.
