Brought my little Maltees then 13yr she was deaf and blind,she was scared I told them that ,granted she was 6 lbs I told them I would pick her up as soon as they were done because of her being afraid and she didn't know where she was so when they didnt call I called them,yes she was done ,when I got there I could her her crying really loud,I said o is that her ,the owner was pissed he said yes she has been doing this for a long time I said why didn't you call me when she was done ,he just gave me a dirty look went and got her ,poor baby I felt so bad then he charged me 80 dollars just to give her a bath and blow dry,just because he is in Carmel doesn't mean there good or nice. read more

These folks take their service seriously! You can very well see that they put a lot of effort and care into the well being of the pet and satisfying your pet and the owners. Our dog is always greeted by name on arrival. We have a Havanese dog that is particular about who touches her, as she was mistreated prior to us. She will growl and may try to bite whenever somebody tries to touch her front paws. Todd understands our dogs behavior which is a result of puppy trauma. Todd listens, explains his process and does his best. Libboo always comes out happy and looking good. Although they say they had a hard time trying to trim her front legs, they still give her a good haircut! We will coming back! Great service, worth every penny! Suds & Scissors rocks! I was in search of a groomer for my cat. I called a couple other places and they would either not accept cats, did not answer, or were nervous about taking my cat. My cat can be very tempermental. She also had many knots in her fur from being fluffy and an outside cat. Todd answered and sounded confident on the phone when I described my cat. I was even able to make an appointment for the next day. When I took my cat in, they were excited to see her and I could tell that the people working there enjoying their job and working with animals. My cat came out feeling soft and with no more knots! While Todd said that it took 3 people to work on her, I am so happy that they were up for the challenge. No other groomers would even think about taking in my cat. Best place to take your dog to be groomed! Todd and his team are absolutely fabulous and take excellent care of our dog (who is an English Setter) and groom him just beautifully. They answered all our questions and also gave us suggestions about the best sort of clipping for our dog. They also have a great little boutique with fun toys and dog accessories. Every time we go, our pup likes to pick out a toy as part of his day at the groomer. Usually if our dog is crated anywhere else but at home, he barks his head off and get's all worked up. Not here though! We get him back calm, happy, and looking nice and clean. That says a lot about how great Suds 'n Scissors is. read more

Best grooming business I've been to by far! My boyfriend and I were in town just for vacation and we wanted to get our labradoodle groomed so we brought her here and they did an amazing job. Charged $60 to trim my 2 dogs nails and missed two of the nails. A lot of money for 5 minutes work poorly done.

There has also been an experience of pushiness and in the past rudeness from staff. Too bad. Groomers are good. It definitely runs to their schedule needs. Not sure how this translates on the pet. Trying to get out at 3 pm might be the reason. I was told I Had to be there at 10:30. That the drop off time is 10:30 not eleven! I used Mathew a couple of months ago . He was great. The owner is unhinged by my honest review. Look at his other replies. You should see the threat I got this morning. He told me to be careful who I piss off and To Be Prepared in large letters. He put my address on it. Which was wrong. I have now filed a police report! I should post it . I used Todd years ago for my other dog we had. He would not remember. I remember the staff part that I was commenting on previously and why I had stopped going.! That's why I said too bad the groomers are good. Now I see the problem. read more

I had such a hard time finding a groomer that consistently does great work and luckily I got around to taking my Border Collie to Suds and Scissors! My dog is a 5 year old Border, she is a bit neurotic and the professionals at Suds and Scissors were so friendly, caring and get my dog clean as a whistle and feeling comfortable - as quickly as possible. I cannot stress the friendly aspect enough - every time I go in or call, everyone is smiling and eager to get my pup in for an oatmeal bath ASAP! Also, I know the shop is in Carmel but they are not charging an arm and a leg! I've paid way more for a terrible cut, which is always disappointing. All you need to know is, you will get excellent customer service and your dog will look and feel incredible! read more

Bought a yelp deal $45 for $55 for my lab puppy. The service was excellent. My puppy is all happy and clean. This is the best grooming she has had so far. i give 4 stars because i was the first guest to use this deal. that was little bit confusion. Also they forgot our collar. It was very difficult finding a good groomer for my Chinese Crested Puff. Fortunately I ran into Renea and her precious Chinese Crested in downtown Carmel. I took my CC to Suds 'N Scissors and Renea did an excellent job with her. She even put a little color to accent her white hair! I felt my 14-year old CC was in great hands. This is a very busy fast paced groomers. They always seem under stress and my dog has picked up the anxiety vibes so we had to stop going. They try to get in as many dogs as they can and that always makes me a little nervous as I question the treatment of the dogs there. They did a good job but always got scolded if my dogs hair was a bit matted. The owner had her dog's hair dyed and I found that rather disappointing as this is not in the best health interest of any animal though she said the dyes were safe. Dye is dye, not a good thing to do to your dog. We stopped going. read more

I was very nervous to take my beloved girl Bindi to ANY groomer. She had never been before and my roommates were complaining about the extra fur all over. Also she only has one eye. The other one had to be removed because of glaucoma. I was going to bathe and brush her out myself but was dreading the HOURS of work anticipated for the task. Also we live on a ranch in cachagua so not only were there large mats in her fur to deal with but countless bushes and brambles from years of neglect. I love my dog very much and I was not proud of the way I had let her get so bad. She has sensitive skin also and I was imagining her fur being pulled and her yelling in pain through the process. So I dropped her off and left which was harder for me then her apparently. I checked in a few times and I saw her up on the table looking like a show queen getting her hair blown out!!! Big smile, perfectly happy. The young man who helped me check in was working on her and it looked like he was doing a persons hair!!! He was also smiling. U can tell he has a love for animals and a passion for his job. I wish I got his name. At that point I was so relieved to see bindi enjoying herself. They got her in right away and even though it was an enormous job, it didn't take too long. They thought they would have to shave her butt fenders which I wasn't happy about but I understood but they were able to just brush them out. They clipped her nails and even washed her face where her one eye gets crusty from the medication I have to give her daily. That was a nice touch. And the bandana too!!! We brought it all in for under $100. I wish I knew how to include a pic. I haven't seen her this beautiful and bright since she was young!!! We are country folk and not the "groomer" type but I think now that I have found a place I can trust with my sweet one eyed dog, we will make this a regular thing!!! We were very happy to find a good groomer in the valley. When we first took our small dog they did a good job. Then we took in our second and at first a good job. Then upon the second visit bigger dog had a lousy hair cut and had to take back. The front desk lady is not very personable. When I took my smaller dog in , he's 20 lbs without nail trim 129.00 was the bill. We will not be returning to this businesses. Bad mojo here. read more

I went online to schedule an appointment and I set it at 4 and they pushed me to go in earlier because they stated that they wanted to close early so I understood and I got ready and took the hour drive over there. When I was 10 minutes away they called me again. By that time it was around 1:45 and they said that they were waiting for me. Keep in mind I was driving and I was 10 minutes away and they said we will have to reschedule. Even though my original appointment was at 4 and they said they will take me at 3:30. On the phone I tried to be as calm as I could but they insisted to reschedule. It hurt because it was my dogs special day and I drove an hour for nothing and everyone else was booked. read more

This is a hard review to write, as I haven't been going to Suds N Scissors for very long (a couple of months), and I continue to use them ....for the moment. But let's start with the good: The staff is very friendly and modestly attentive. To be fair, they are very busy and do pretty well under heavy time constraints (the sheer volume of dogs they clip and cut is impressive). The shop is very clean and well organized. Dogs aren't hidden in the back but are crated right in the grooming area (against a back wall), so they can hear AND see what is going on, and I think this helps decrease their anxiety as well as mine (I like knowing that my pup isn't stuffed in a back room somewhere and being completely ignored as I've seen from some groomers). The not-so-good: They are pricey. But I love my dog so this seems trivial but to some, it might be an issue. They are also inconsistent in their cuts on my labradoodle. They know how to cut labradoodles for sure, but I believe the groomers are so busy juggling so many dogs that they sometimes have to take short cuts in order to finish on time. Sometimes the leg hair is left long or uncut altogether, or his belly isn't clipped, or his chest or head, etc. so when I pick him up, I never know what I'm going to see in terms of areas that were missed or they didn't have time for (note: this is purely my observation based on the past several months so I'm still waiting to see if this was just a fluke). Nearly every time I go back in with my puppy, I tell them an area I'd like them to cut shorter (ears, legs, etc.) and they seem to do it but at the expense of bypassing another area. Again, I think this is a time constraint issue due to their volumes. It may also be that my pup is only 9 months old and probably isn't the easiest to groom (he loves to chew on everything and to play with everything... we're working with him on this and he is improving). But as a "professional" grooming store, I would hope that they'd tell me any issues they are having with my dog so that I can work on it with him at home. I will say that I used a small groomer in the area for a while and they were terrible (uneven cut, expensive, crated him in a back room) so when I found Suds N Scissors I was excited. Now that the excitement is wearing off, I'm hoping that the consistency of the cuts will improve and they'll be able to keep me as a customer. I'll update this later to let you know how it's going. read more

IM SORRY MY ENGLISH ITS NOT VERY GOOD Hi! I really don't like to give a bad review to a place that supposed to be good, anyway yesterday I took my dog for a haircut and the girl who was taking care of me told me he would be ready in 2 hours and I should get a text letting me know my dog will be ready so after 3 1/2 hours that I left him there I still haven't got any text from them so I decided to go and check what was going on. The minute the manager saw me she came to me in a very bad attitude telling me that if I haven't receive a text my dog is not ready and I was trying to explain her that they told me he will be ready in two hours but she kept interrupting me a telling me that I shouldn't be there because I'm a distraction, it's safe to say that where I was looking around to see if my dog was almost ready or something I saw him on a kennel without anything done to him. So when I ask her to give a time frame just to see if I'll stay around and wait or go home she said to me if you want you can take your dog right now without anything done (obviously I already been waiting for a long time so I didn't take him.) After 40 min more I got the text and I went to pick up my dog although they did a good job in cutting my dog hair i will never come back. Not worth the price. After saying they would cut my Yorkie exactly as I asked, I said leave her hair 1 inch long. Well when I went to pick her up it was too long. It didn't look like she even cut the hair on her hind end or rear legs- still at least 3 inch long hair. When I told the blond lady Z's hair was to long she told me my groomer had already gone home as Zoey was her last cut. Really? She took her back and trimmed a bit more off her tummy but that was it. She didn't say someone else could finish it up, she didn't ask me to come back next day. Nothing. I was shut down. I drove over from PG for this treatment. At least they didn't hurt my dog read more

I Will never go back! My dog is a 79 pound mix with a great coat. She is groomed every 4 weeks. We recently moved to Carmel and thought we would give them a try. They were rude. They fussed over the size of the dog and finally looked at her coat and realized her coat was well cared for so they took her. $102.00 dollars! 3 weeks later I received a call to confirm my next appointment when I mentioned that they seemed stressed last time, and I hoped things would go smoother because I would like my dog back in 3 hours, they suggested I bring her another day because they decided they did not want to groom her on Saturday? What was that about. The owner is rude, the cost is to high and there is better out there. If I could give them a negative number I would. read more

Very unprofessional. We booked an appointment for our dog to get fully groomed a few months in advance as we were planning to visit Carmel. The lady at the front desk said the groomer is there every other Saturday. Our appointment was at 10:00 am. We called at 9:30 am just to let them know we were on our way and to confirm. The lady at the front desk said in a jolly voice that the groomer had concert tickets and decided not to go into work today! We did not even get a phone call or an advanced notice! I went to this place about 6-7 months ago and my dog loved the place and the guy at the desk! there was a lot of traffic that day and he thought best for us to come back in morning so I could go back with pup and make her comfortable! I couldn't come back in morning so nails never got done at this place, just a intro to the place and front area!! Now here is where the one star comes in I called them today to see if best to make an appointment for my dog..a pit bull husky and a sweetheart just uncomfortable due to past traumatic experience in these setting/situations. Male front desk agent tell me he's met her and no one wants to work on her...if he did it was 6-7 month and the staff loved her hence asking her to come back!!! he hung up on me yelling ur dog attacked my staff when she did not she never had gotten her nails done and was playing with the staff member at the front desk that day...rude much!! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS ESTABLISHMENT that stereotypes, judges, and treats people in such a manner! read more

Just called to get an estimate on a short cut for my Border Collie mix and was told that 'shaving' my dog (not sure how a 4 inch coat is shaved) is bad for her skin and I should google coat funk. This was after I said she has fleas. Woman told me they would do it but it's not ok for my dog despite the fact that she gets a short cut 3 times a year and her vet has had zero objections. I guess pretentious and rude is what I get for calling a groomer in Carmel. Clarification: I live in the Monterey area now. My puppy needed his first nail trim. The lady helping us was nice but seemed a little rough. I heard my puppy scream in pain a few times. I took their word for it that he may have just overreacted to the pressure...however when I looked at his nails when we got home, they were uneven, torn (which explains the pain), and an overall sloppy job. All of the other dogs being groomed looked great, however. Maybe it depends on the staff and how much they rush when busy. read more
