We decided to go here on a Saturday afternoon hoping to catch some brunch. Well the place was just off the hook with people everywhere. The wait was very very long and I do believe the host was getting confused as to who came first and when and where she told people to wait and how long the wait will be. When we finally got a table the customer service was excellent. I wish they would have more on the menu to choose from but overall it was okay. The drink was really good that the waitress recommended but I just can't remember the name of it I think it might have been one of their specialty drinks. The food, service and ambience were all a 10/10! I really wanted to try a new breakfast spot and I'm so glad we did. I think the previous reviews may have been when the restaurant 1st opened because that was not our experience at all! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our food and our server. All the staff were very pleasant and assisted us along with our server. Their team work really took it up a notch with our experience....and the food..BABY! Those were some of the best potatoes I've ever had in my life, so flavorful and I didn't have to add any seasoning, just hot sauce lol. My baby said his shrimp and grits were phenomenal, full of flavor and grits like no other. Shout out to the chefs! If you guys haven't checked this place out yet, please give it a try! I'm struggling to rate this restaurant! If you follow my reviews you know that I adore Brunch! I love to day drink, take a nap, and go out for more adventures. We have been wanting to check out this location for quite some time. Having recently returned from NOLA, we were interested in this NOLA themed brunch. We arrived about 10 am. It was busy but not overly crowded. We were able to score seats at the bar which is how we like it. Unfortunately, we sat there for at least 15 minutes before being acknowledged at all. Then it was about 5 more minutes before we got some water. Another 5 before our drink order was taken. If you are going to charge premium prices, I expect premium service. I will say that our bartender did redeem herself in that she was very friendly. Bur the drinks were just so so. Definitely not $15 -$20 cocktails. The food was AMAZING though. We got shrimp and grits and the Bourbon Street Omelette which contained shrimp, crab, feta and spinach. The food was good, but the overall experience was underwhelming and a bit disappointing. Especially since we have been looking forward to this. I'm hoping they get it together. At this point I wouldn't come back. So this place was picked for a midday meet up for the ladies Today. We ordered a variety of things off the menu. Starting with drinks I had the espresso martini which did not come in a martini glass. The ladies had a incarcerated sangria and the other guest in the party had a sugah blue. The incarcerated sangria was tasty . The sugah blue was too much alcohol but if you like that sort of thing then you will like it. The martini was good but not coming in a full real martini glass was tacky and gave you very little of a drink . The food that was ordered was the mushroom burger which I was told was tasty. The catfish and grits were ordered the salmon Mardi Gras pasta and the Caesar salad with blackened salmon added. The gumbo and peach barbecue wings. Now we arrived at 3:45 was told it would be a 40 minute wait which turned into a hour and 15 minute wait. The place was not even packed but understaffed. The waiter came over after fifteen minutes of us sitting at our table. Then the food took over a hour to come out and some food was even cold . The experience was horrible . The owner was there talking at the bar I noticed her from her pictures online . Customers were asking for a manager and she just walked away. Because they did not know she was the owner. This place has a lot of potential but the lack of care is shown in every aspect of this place . It's actually in a great location. But the service is beyond horrible the food was okay. Conversely, the Bourbon Street omelet and hot peach tea was very good. The one turn off was the water in the flower vase of week old flowers that was evident on all the tables. Customer service is AWFUL however if you can ignore that the food is AMAZING. They definitely cook with love they just need to find a way to hire more staff. We waited so long to be seated that we actually just seated ourselves. The servers are also elderly so I gave them grace. It also tickled me that everyone who came in after us sat themselves too because they were tired of waiting. I visited this restaurant on a Sunday around 2p. I had a party of 4 (3 adults, 1 child). We were told it would be a 45 minute wait which was fine. We were seated around 40 minutes. The guy seating us told us the kitchen was backed up so it would be a wait.. we understood. Our server came out and immediately got our drink orders and came back to get food orders. After our orders were placed about 10 mins later she came out to let us know the cook said he was not making anymore orders and our food was not going to be made. We got up and left after being there a total of 1 hour and 15 mins to be told we basically were not being served. That sucked. I'm not sure what was going on but my eyes were burning, my mother's eyes were burning, and I heard the table next to us complain of the same thing. They did have a door cracked open-- but maybe there need to work on something with their ventilation. Also.. the cook and the manager (I'm assuming- he was the one who sat us) kept going out the cracked door letting it slam against the table. You can tell they were frustrated. I'm not sure if they were short staffed or what, but I think they should do better when in view of the customer. Also note- this is not a kid friendly place. I was in town for the holiday visiting from the DMV. It just so happened two other friends of mine from the DMV were also in town at the same time. One of them made a reservation for this restaurant and we were all excited to try it, knowing that it was new and Black-owned. Before I arrived late, my friends were already waiting for about an hour. I expected to see them already seated when I got there and when they were not I thought maybe the whole party had to be present. Come to find out, they just didn't have any tables available to accommodate those who had a reservation. They actually had a pile up of customers who were unable to be seated. There was another issue with items on the menu not being available. One of the hostesses came over and apologized to everyone for the inconvenience and they looked like they were trying to sort out a system to track those that were waiting in the proper sequence, but it didnt seem to be working out very well. We were being patient and understanding and we told the hostess that we would just go to the bar and order a drink while they sorted things out. She then informed us that they did not have their liquor license yet so we would not be able to order any alcoholic beverages from the bar. With a long wait time combined with the disorganization and then not being able to order a drink and chill at the bar as we continued waiting, we opted to leave and go elsewhere. Hopefully, they have things sorted out by now. I will probably try them again one day but no time soon. read more

I literally had to tip my coffee cup ($3.50)on its side to get the attention of my waiter to refill, he forgot which brand drink my date and I had and handed us the wrong cups, the food was unremarkable, i ordered shrimp and grits $21 and my date had crab cake sandwich $26. At that price point you would expend quality not a rip off. The presentation was poor, the grits were flavorless, the crab cake could be bought at Kroger for $6. All were delicious and well executed. The catfish was crispy and flavorful. The shrimp were lightly breaded and tender. The salmon was grilled nicely. Portions were good for the price. I had an opportunity to meet the owner who greeted me while I was sitting at the bar waiting for my daughter. Very classy lady with a warm and inviting smile. I love soul food and most of the times when I go out the cuisine is hit or miss (because I can cook) well the cuisine at this restaurant was definitely a hit. We enjoyed the catfish and grits. The grits were "chefs kiss" in fact everything we consumed was absolutely delectable. 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend. This brunch spot had a nice ambiance love the Mardi Gras theme. Today me and my friend decided to try brunch here, the parking is very inconvenient, we paid $40 just to park on a Monday. This parking was located right across from the restaurant. We waited for someone to greet us for about 10 minutes. When they did great us ,they told us they were on a 15 minute wait. We waited and received a phone call from Adam at 12:43pm to come in and be sat, you could tell the place was short staff. There were 4 people altogether staff wise. Adam was very helpful along of our actual server. She gave us water and then left for about another 15 minutes. She was also the person running the bar. Everybody was looking at each other in disbelief. The food came 30 minutes later, it was very good. The drinks were okay, but came after the food. Our server took our food and drink order together and then came back 15 minutes later and asked us were we ready to put in our drink order.... I was confused because we had just put it in and she forgot and then decided to card us. After waiting another 20 minutes for our drink to get there , we asked for our boxes and our check . She handed me a wrong check $75 I gave her my card and a $20 cash tip. When she walked away, I expected her to come back with my card and the bill to sign, instead she was walking past with someone else's food in her hand. When she comes back, I see her charge me $95 , and ask me to sign a check with 2xbud lights. She then got her manager to refund me to then give me my real check which was $86. She then said I'm sorry , "that was my first mistake of the day" and it in fact wasn't . The experience was a 4/10. I will be back in a couple of months to see if things have changed. We got sat around 12:45pm we didn't leave until 2:35 settling everything. Time wasn't the priority to them. The audacity! I'm literally still in the establishment in real time writing this review. it's been close to 2 hours just got drinks and still no food. I literally try to support "our people" but these are the reasons we don't last in business and must do better. Owners and wait staff have people literally waiting over an hour for food unapologetically while they decide to take a couple of dance breaks. It's disheartening, disappointing and frustrating. I wanted to order more but waiting an hour and a half for a bowl of gumbo is insane. It took over 30mins just to get someone to come over to bring a glass of water. The waitress was literally running around in circles doing nothing before her little dance break. I requested another waiter bc she never even came to the table anyway. Unless they improve drastically they will continue to have customers that are one and done. I refer my clients to amazing restaurants when they come into town and I even take them myself, NEVER EVER would I set my clients up for failure to experience this. The food is great, but the service is awful. Busy, not busy, they don't know how to manage a restaurant. The owner came to our table to greets us and we told her about our experience, she said "I'm open to hearing how we can do better", but then she shut right down when we talked about the service and the staff. Especially the bar tender. I've never met someone with such an attitude. It took 52 minutes to get a drink. I don't think he had a formal training. He just knows how the make the drinks on the menu. Ask him to make anything else, and he has to look at the recipe on his phone. The add gratuity to each check regardless of the size of the party. I thought that was strange at first, but now realize why they do it. TIPs would be terrible for the servers without automatically charging them, because the service is so bad.
