Overall, I've had consistently great experiences, which is why I wanted to share both the positives and one area that could use some attention. The Fresh Market has one of the best meat counters around. Their filet mignon is my go-to purchase, and it's always been outstanding. Their produce is consistently fresh, and I also love their bakery. They regularly offer unique seasonal and specialty baked goods that are always worth trying. Today, I decided to order their fresh bruschetta because it's not something many stores carry. I was excited to try it, but unfortunately, when it arrived, it didn't look fresh at all. Even though the container is dated to expire tomorrow, it had a milky appearance that made it look unappetizing and, in my opinion, not safe to eat. I understand that products can occasionally slip through the cracks, but I think this is something that should have been noticed before it made it into a customer's order. Whether it's during stocking, by the department team, or at checkout, I hope more attention is given to products that no longer appear fresh, even if they're still within the sell-by date. Overall, this one experience won't keep me from shopping at The Fresh Market. I still highly recommend them for their excellent meat department, fresh produce, bakery, and the convenience of delivery. I just hope they take a closer look at product quality so future customers don't have the same experience. So the next morning I woke up with the intention of drinking my Bizzy Expresso Cold Brew Coffee only to find it expired a month ago which is very concerning and disappointing! It tells me that stores are not paying attention to their products!!

The Highlights: Florals: We stopped in a few days after Valentine's and scored some beautiful bouquets on sale. Quality: The produce is vibrant and the butcher counter/meats are top-tier. Easy Meals: My favorite part! We ordered a Margherita pizza and they made it fresh. They have a small dining area with a microwave, which is super convenient for a mid-day bite. The One Downside: This location doesn't have an in-store cafe. A fresh latte or a smoothie would have been the perfect with our pizza. Bottom Line: Great for high-quality essentials and easy meals. Everyone was so friendly and pleasant. A nice change of pace from the usual grocery run.

The new location has only half of what I bought at Jefferson Avenue in Newport News (not the other store on Warwick blvd.) E-Mart was relocated virtually overnight and without warning to Virginia Beach from Newport News. Did an army of marauders lug everything south or was it quantum tunneling and computer modeling that displace matter within space...? World Market in Newport News is the new E-Mart and has only furniture, not the Asian food I was looking for. Instead, I went next door to Fresh Market and bought two bags of red, white and blue potato chips. The woman of color behind the counter knew I understood what they had done. She said something out of context with my shopping trip: "It's my turn now." As if reparations are my duty to the world and I have to hand over the American legacy on a silver platter to make things right. Oh, so that's why you keep moving things around. Okay! Don't look at me if you want 40 acres and a mule because thanks to the local radical left politicians and reverse discrimination I have neither. This is a shell game. Someone is practicing psyops.

To Whom It May Concern,…read more I am writing to formally bring to your attention an incident that occurred during my visit to your market on June 28, 2026. My husband and I enjoy supporting small, local markets and farms; especially those that remind us of home and our military roots, so it is extremely disappointing to share that our experience today left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected. While selecting ears of corn, I picked up several that were already opened and set aside. I examined them only to understand why they had been separated. From across the aisle, an employee called out, "Ma'am, you can't open our corn here." I responded politely that I understood. She then approached me and asked, "Did you open all of these?" Her tone was accusatory, and the question itself was inappropriate. I clarified that the ears were already open when I picked them up. Instead of accepting my explanation, she continued lecturing me--repeating the same point multiple times despite my acknowledgment. She also stated that your corn is "fresh, just picked," which was factually incorrect given that the ears I was holding were ice cold. "Fresh, just picked" corn would be warm to the touch, as though it went directly from farm to stand. I mentioned that the opened ears had earworm. She replied that "there is nothing wrong with corn that has a worm; you just cut it off," and continued repeating the same reprimand I had already acknowledged multiple times. Despite my calm responses, the employee continued pressing the issue to the point that my husband stepped in, saying, "Okay, that is enough." The employee then told us, "Maybe you should go to Walmart to buy your corn." This comment was inappropriate, unprofessional, and entirely unnecessary. At that point, we decided to purchase the four ears already in our bag, inform the cashier of our experience, and leave; spending only $5.00 versus our normal $60-$80 we spend each time we visit. Unfortunately, this interaction has led us to decide not to return to your market, which is genuinely disappointing. We value local businesses and the sense of community they provide, but the treatment we received did not reflect the welcoming environment we expected--or the positive experiences we have had over the past six years as regular customers. We drive from Yorktown specifically to buy your fruits and vegetables, but we will not drive to Sandbridge to be chastised and publicly ridiculed for something I did not do, and even if I had, I acknowledged your policy immediately upon being told. I am sharing this feedback in hopes that it will be used constructively. Customer service matters, and interactions like this can significantly impact how patrons perceive and support a business. I trust you will address this issue to ensure future customers are treated with respect and professionalism.

The prices were very good compared to most of the local grocery stories, the interior was clean, the shelves were stocked, fronted, well organized, and the employees with whom I interacted were nice & helpful. What I found interesting was that, because I know the prices of the ALDI items I normally buy back home, I found the ALDI prices in Virginia Beach were, for the better part, exactly what they were in Terrytown, Louisiana. ALDI Virginia Beach did have a couple of items that were slightly lower in cost than the same items in Terrytown, LA, but were identical for the most part. Flash forward seven years later and friends have been telling me to go back. It's helped too that our kids are now out of the house. Friends swore their organic produce alone is worth it. But other items as well like their own healthier line "Specially Selected". I found the store clean and organized as I shopped for specific healthier options. When you walk in your greeted with the produce department that I was immediately impressed with. They offer a lot and you can choose non organic, or a bit pricier organic. The prices specifically on organic are more reasonable than Trader Joe's, Wegmans, or Kroger that I regularly visit. I also found their "Specially Selected" line on the bread aisle. Not just one, but several types from ciabatta and whole wheats. Also Ambrose bread for cheesesteaks that's harder to find. Ok not as healthy but yum! Other items Two Good yogurt and organic milk both more reasonable than other stores. They offer much more, but I thought highlighting a few of Aldi's healthier items would bring exposure to the grocer. I was disappointed with healthier choices with can foods. I will be back for sure, but only for limited items.
