I just popped in for a late night treat on a cold rainy day and it was everything I needed to lift my spirits up. I'm used to the Lenox Ave location so switching it up by coming to Broadway was nice. As usual, the flavors options are extremely unique. I tasted the Thai Noodle flavor because I thought it sounded so funny as a concept and I was pleasantly surprised at how they made something that's typically a dish into an enjoyable ice cream flavor. I landed on getting two scoops in a cone and it was roughly $11. The toppings options are vast but I figured it wasn't needed with the creative ice cream flavors I selected. The blueberry cheesecake was delightful, filled with chunks of blueberry and the occasional (surprising) sour hint to balance out the sweetness. The peach cobbler lived up to the name and I have nothing to say except deliciousssssss. I came here with a friend for dessert and absolutely loved the unique flavors! It's a cute little ice cream shop with a variety of flavors and creations. I got a small size cup with two scoops, one scoop of Tuma Buna and one scoop of Chairperson of the Board, which was their blueberry cheesecake. Both flavors were very good! The Tuma Buna was very decadent, spicy, and pretty strong. The coffee and ginger in the ice cream are really dominate, so expect a lot of spice! It's a small job with HUGE FLAVORS. I see why they have three stores now. I got the blueberry cheesecake ice cream, though I originally went in for the carrot cake and habichuelas con dulce (which they were all out of). I settled on a cup of the blueberry cheesecake which was soooooooo yummy. I decided to treat myself to this, and it was SO worth it. I would totally take a date here in the summer time to impress them. The pint of carrot cake was a good choice as well, there's traces of cream cheese frosting, carrot cake, and nuts. I really enjoyed it, but I'm also a big fan of carrot cake and cheesecake. First off I wanted to say that I love sugar hill and I enjoy the abundance of flavors especially the red velvet when it's cold and banana pudding in the spring! With that said, tonight's experience wasn't my favorite, when wanting to mix flavors I was told to just "get it from the fridge" and it was a lot more back and forth about that then I would've liked. I got a 2 flavor split cup and my partner got a single scoop and every flavor we tried was so delicious: strawberry basil with lemon curd, rosemary poundcake with apricot (their June special), and coffee with spiced brownie. I appreciate that their flavors are clearly crafted with thought and care; they really stand out from the basic chocolate/strawberry vanilla. I'm a sucker for creative ice cream flavors, so I was very happy to visit Sugar Hill Creamery's Hamilton Heights outpost. I had previously visited their location in DUMBO but I hope to see them expand to a few more locations downtown so I don't have to trek so far uptown for their delicious ice cream. My friends and I stopped by on a Sunday evening to see what they had in stock. I ordered a split cup ($6) of their Tuma Buna and Green Carts. According to the staff member, a split can hold two flavors but is smaller in size than a double. The Tuma Buna is a coffee ice cream that is flavored with turmeric and ginger candy. While I couldn't make out any bits of the candy, it was a really nuanced coffee ice cream that was sweet and spiced. The Green Carts is a strawberry-basil ice cream that contains a lovely ripple of housemade lemon curd running through it and is speckled with crushed up Nilla wafers. Refreshing and peak summer flavors. There are three tables towards the back but otherwise this shop space is rather narrow so I would recommend a grab and go situation. I am sad they only allow for two taste tests as the DUMBO location was pretty lenient when I visited but I guess I'll have to return soon to try their jalapeno-corn and rhubarb-lemon verbena flavors! read more

I got the carnival (soursop with coconut) and the all inclusive (rice pudding, candied mango and maduro). My husband got the harlem sweeties (salted caramel crunch) and nunu's peach cobbler. All their ice creams were very unique with interesting ingredients. I tried all 4 of the ice creams and they were not overly sweet or creamy, and the flavors were light and not very potent. Out of the 4 flavors, the tastiest one was the nunu's peach cobbler and the least tasting one was the carnival (soursop coconut). Service here is superb and the store itself is clean and welcoming. There's not a lot of seating, but you'll need a walk after the sheer size of the sundae (if that's what you order) so no biggie if you have to take it to go. The thing about brownie sundaes is that the brownies tend to be dry, brittle, and stale, but that was not the case here. These brownies were dense, moist, and decadent and there was no skimping on the amount put into the sundae. The ice cream flavors rotate seasonally which is a lot of fun so you'll always be in for a treat. The selection is definitely special and really creative as opposed to the standard flavors of vanilla, chocolate, etc that dare I say are boring. I was pleasantly surprised by their hot chocolate which had the most delicious toasted marshmallow atop (which is made of egg whites so no gelatin for vegetarians and other dietarily restricted folks).
